actually I've used RAD frame parts on all of my first few mechs; Queen of Nails didn't run Wrecker, but the loader 4 head is RAD
and all of the loader 4 frame parts are actually quite solid for their weight and en drain

I think AC1's soundtrack hits a particular point of nostalgia for me that's hard to top, but attempting to speak more objectively, Verdict Day and For Answer both have really strong soundtracks.
I don't even like For Answer's gameplay, gen 4 is my least favorite, but the music is top notch

i kept getting sorted into the same people's missions until i suddenly ran out of games to invade i think i made everyone ragequit for the day
Ibis will take some creativity I am finding
the saving grace with the ibis fight is that she has only a couple of patterns
she opens the same way every time and only has like like half a dozen patterns she switches between
so you just gotta run it back a few times until you find her tells and then you can start reading her
True, I just need to pick a loadout that can dole out enough damage and can track or accurately land at mid/close range
I've tried running shotguns or pistols but getting close enough to really capitalize on them is a headache
you can make almost anything work but fast is good, biped legs or the wheelchair treads are solid
I'm getting pretty good at KOing phase 1, phase 2's the one tripping me up
the energy lance heavy attack will cross the entire planet of rubicon, it might help

As much as I love the pulse blade or Pile Driver, they aren't enough for this one
I might also need to invest in a mounted pulse shield
Give myself more openings to hit since she gets stationary or easy to hit during certain attacks that I can't exploit since I need to dodge
I've been running a C3 Melander with the spring chicken legs, cycling different weapon loadouts
It has enough speed to dodge most of what she throws at me to the point where I can get to the first phase 1 stagger chance with hardly any damage
Might change my thrusters since iirc I'm wearing a set that goes for verticality and I need better horizontal movement
And the legs let me jump
if you havent done it in a while it might be a good idea to go through the powerplants and thrusters you have and figure out which one gives the most # of qbs vs time between qbs vs recharge rate
I end up swapping to a long-mid FCS setup to deal with Ibis on heavier builds. You'll want a strong FCS to keep track (of Ibis in general)

I usually stick to a mid/close FCS but I suspect I'm gonna need something more versatile or ranged

That makes sense, I'm usually an impatient kind of player who muscles through an enemy's attacks to get them down
So it's a nice change of pace and challenge to play punching upwards again

Schneider ACs are lightweights that bounce around, Elcano ACs are also lightweight but more grounded

I’d say Elcano is more defined by their parts being, bulkier then the average lightweights

Balam parts are extremely stat dense for their weights and Dafeng Parts do focus on a solid core and not much else
The Dafeng generators being amazing in terms of the base stats of a generator but struggling in more specialist stats like energy firearm spec

Cooked up this PVE hovertank build when making/optimizing a x2 Bazooka tetrapod build. Vertical movements throwing off AC6's targeting really helps with the low boost speed, and long QB reload.
- JVLN Alpha for more damage output than Majestic, extra weight isn't a problem, less ammo doesn't matter in shorter missions/boss fights.
- Shao-Wei instead of Huxley because I'm mostly firing in short bursts for pressure, or keeping Impact build-up running. (Swaps to
G2 DualTrueno missiles for PVP use, to snipe players trying to stay at long-range.) - VP-61PS shoulder shield offsets the long QB reload (1.78), and NGI 000 generator full-empty delay.

Honestly, having watched the overview, I think Metallurgent replicates the nitty-gritty of AC building much more closely than Lancer does
Which isn't to say that it's better--i think Lancer's comparatively streamlined play experience is going to be preferable for people who don't want an extremely granular gameplay
But I can see this one bringing something to the table as well
Like if you're the type to spend hours and hours tuning your AC build in the garage, or if you're a hopeless Battletech tabletop enthusiast, this game seems like it'll scratch those itches real well

like i'm trying to move the camera and forget to strafe
or i try to strafe and shoot but i press the wrong button and switch my weapon or smthn
with ac6 i just need to
move with left joystick, control Camera when necessary with right, and keep track of my repair and my weapon buttons
lock on also takes off the difficulty of camera whenever i'm in combat, and when i'm not i only need to really worry about the camera and not the weapon buttons
I feel like it says something that it took From... what, four PS2 games before they let go of the PS1 control setup?
also just, using the shoulder and bumper buttons to actually fucking use the weapons
instead of having a button each to shoot with and then a button to swap between main weapon and shoulders
also lets me actually use the shoulder stuff as auxiliary equipment
instead of needing to put something which can act like a main weapon on cause otherwise when i stap to the shoulder i'm momentarily crippled damage wise
Mind you, I'm a broken person who is just used to the old school setup, even if I understand objectively it's deranged lol
also in AC3 main wep and both shoulders are on the same swap 💀
so you have to like, quickswap between them like you're swapping a spell in ER or DS
though honestly when I replayed AC3 I did it on an emulator and being able to assign things wherever you want on a keyboard does make life easier

still not as easy as mouselook, but easier
if nothing else you can make WASD make sense and use IJKL or something to look around
instead of the full tank control scenario where you have half the look controls near half the movement controls and the other half of the look controls near the strafe controls
default settings had up and down on d-pad as forwards and backwards and the bumpers for strafe
then left to right on d-pad for camera and the triggers as up and down iirc

the up/down look is paired with side-to-side movement and the right/left look is paired with forward/back movement
@polar osprey if you can learn to bunny hop and use flight to help manage vertical target acquisition it’s smoother

it was one of the easiest fights in the game for me so i have no feelings tied to it
it it kinda interesting how wildly different everybody's AC6 experiences are with the bosses
i have never lost to Ibis
like in my first run i got walled by Balteus and Ibis both, but didn't have any trouble with Sea Spider despite hearing other people talking about that fight being on par with the first two
i actually beat Balteus first try too
it sounds like i'm bragging now but that's just how it went
i used shotguns and managed to burst him down
yeah it's the G1 Michigan And His Entire Army Of Goons
i kept running out of fucking ammo by the time i got to him
G1 Michigan is cool but that fight was a bitch and a half
but i eventually locked in and did it on attempt like. 60 or 70 something. without changing my build more than a tiny bit
i had a real hard time with that mission my first time around... actually i don't think i got past it, i gave up and did the other one
then my second time around i went in a lightweight build with double vert plasma missiles and double laser handguns and surprised myself by dancing through it with barely a scratch
like i was expecting to get completely trashed. this was fully a "what the hell, might as well throw the new build at it" attempt. and it cleaned up

Plamsa missiles, and plasma in general clean out that mission amazingly quick. I've noticed good flight time/tetrapod hover saves a lot of trouble too.
Tried cooking up a more interesting midweight build for AC6 PVP use, swapped to Biped after not getting the results/weight capacity I wanted with Lammergeier/VP-424 quad legs. May see further adjustments (*swapped arms to Nachtreiher for small AP/Defense trade, *swapped Booster to Flugel for better EN costs), though the build is already pushing limits to fit everything.
Intriguing. I've used the Harris + Javelin Alpha arms combo before. I have a little bit of trouble tagging people with the Harris but overall I think it's solid
I think my version had the dual homing missiles + Javelin Beta on the shoulders and a lighter core. It was more of a midweight kite build
Using Harris for tapfire/charged shot flexibility, the high velocity charged shot seems to trip up players at mid-long range compared to Bazooka travel time.
Is the Huxley there to punish players who try to rush you down? Or do you plan on getting in close with this build?
Huxley is mostly anti-rushdown, though also helps with stagger buildup facing builds that aren't close-ranged.

Got a few C rank matches in, Huxley off cooldown is my cue to play more aggressively against non close-range. NGI 001 boost speed is really nice for controlling distance combined with floor-hopping to break FCS lock.
Swapped to Nacht arms from Firmeza after realizing how little AP/Defense it gives up for more Firearm Spec.
And they handle the recoil okay?
Ah, forgot about that part, though it seems manageable with the limited magazine of Harris, will need to check later

ended up doing a variation on your build on the Lamm quad legs, this is what i wound up coming up with
wasn't sure what to expect from it, but my test match (against an opponent running RJ vientos + songbird + oscillator) turned out well and was a lot of fun
i think what i like about the quad legs is that it makes it a little more viable to take snapshots with the Javelin Alpha when you think you have an opening
ditto charged shots with the Harris, although i didn't actually try that in this match
Noice, I've mostly used charged Harris as a follow-up for stagger breaks I see coming, charging/holding while firing Javelin Alpha, or missiles + Huxley near break.
yeah, i think charged LR shots are good for stagger breaks since they have huge burst impact
but i've still got to get a sense for when i can get one off, especially since the Harris overheats after a charge
i have another Lamm build that uses dual Curtises, maybe i can play around a bit with that since they don't overheat so i've got a bit more leeway
Hoping that goes well, I've tried using Curtis more but the charged shot feels underwhelming against heavier builds because of low Accumulative Impact.
yeah, i like dual-triggering it because you can build up impact with rapid-fire normal shots and then push them over the top with a charged shot
^ i haven't tested this build out yet, but it's a lighter version of a heavy build that i've had some success with:
hello friends i am here to tell you that tank ACs have Too Much Fucking AP
five rounds against a heavy tank, managed to with the AP race once
but i performed adequately enough that i'm satisfied, i think this build's a keeper
I'm quite baffled that heavy tank legs didn't lose more AP from nerfs, and hovertank didn't lose any AP at all.
Though hovertank is at least offset by mid stability for it's weight, massive hitbox, and poor boost speed.

It's less designed to be good as to compensate for my visceral disrespect for my EN meter and hitting my trigger buttons repeatedly.
ruber is honestly even more simple, you have two missile pods on the back that you shoot when they reload, and you have two machine guns that you simply hold down the triggers for when you are fighting

a little more freedom to explore and do something new than if they're stapling more content onto to base game

i mean there's some weapons that just can't be helped by recoil control (i think that literally the hand gatlings fire faster than recoil control is coded to kick in)
so you just let volume of fire compensate for accuracy
Recoil means little when you are three inches away and kicking anyway
The gremlin is simply a cone of "your AP, hand it over"
Recoil Control slows the bloom of x1 Gatling, but x2 quickly maxes out still.

yeah generally rankings go Objectives/Time/Expenses, in order of priority
wallclimber in particular is one of the missions where you get bonus pay for every kill so it can be worth it to spend a few extra seconds cleaning up trash mobs, depending on your route
and if you're rank hunting, I assume you probably know this but just doing due diligence, you can't use any checkpoints or your rank is capped at A
actually maybe lower? I haven't done testing on this. You can't get an S-rank without having done the mission from the beginning, though.

I did laser lance and pilebunker RJ for my first playthrough, and haldeman+LCS lamm quad for my second
Depends, do you want to be a wheelchair, a fighter jet, or a rolling fortress?
I’m gonna be swapping between different tanks depending on the situation
use something that benefits from the fact that stopping to fire a weapon is no longer a problem
The Fortaleza and Bornemissza legs have relatively identical movement characteristics and ground-centric playstyles - one's just a lot lighter and much faster while the other is for when you just want to be a roving fortress that bulldozes literally everything in your path. Ploat Legs love taking advantage of verticality thanks to their above average ability to stay in the air, so would definitely recommend Grenades and similar high-explosive ordnance with that one.
Having tactical eurobeats playing the background is not mandatory, but could help you get in the mood to drift and swerve your way to victory.
Do you generally pair your grenade launchers with stagger builders or stagger punishers?
Depends on the exact loadout, I think. I've admittedly never used grenades too much, myself, but I have seen vids of them being used for both functions, particularly the Earshot grenade cannon and Morley spread bazooka.
Their accuracy is definitely more consistent if you abuse verticality, though. A grounded enemy is a lot easier to hit with grenades thanks to the splash damage than an airborne one.

though i think their ammo is a bit limited/expensive for PVE to rely on consistently
overall though i'd agree with Freyja, find a back weapon that you like and abuse the fact that you can fire it on the move
Don't even need to limit yourself there. Tank treads can fire any Firing Stance weapon (Bazookas, Grenades, Laser Cannons, charged Linear Rifles, etc) on the move
Imagine if you could have four flamethrowers
Even just a single BAD COOK is enough to, well, cook your way through just about anything you could encounter on Rubicon.
There is no overkill. There is only "open fire" and "reload"
I use one to mimic a fusion collider on my "definitely not a tau battlesuit"

okay @patent oyster i've got two builds i want to offer up, presented in order of the interest i have in seeing you play them
first build: ULTRAVIOLET. laser-centric, one of the results of my experimenting to see if i could build an AC not reliant on the stagger > punish loop (although it absolutely can stagger thanks to the RJ kick and assault armor)
second build: VECTOR. much more conventional, i think the combat loop is pretty obvious just from looking at the loadout, but it's good solid fun. i took out Iguazu + Volta in this version of the build

the borderless is very cool though. It always seemed a little like robbery that you get this awesome fight with infinite energy and flight and you're stuck in a tiny box on a mostly flat open area

I think that would actually seriously hurt the vibe AC is going for. Not showing you actual people is part of the point, the sense of isolation is very deliberate. You still get segments of dialogue as the plot unfolds, but it's always through unseen messengers.

Many buffs to parts/weapons, and a pretty big hike to Melee Spec on arms (less of a gulf between Basho, and all other arms)

the increase to emptying of the charge gauge on the laser shotgun + handgun is an interesting change. i wonder if that'll fix the issue i've had with the laser handguns where rapid-firing them on maxed energy weapon spec tended to accidentally fire a charged shot
okay, i tested it bc i was curious, and while it is still annoyingly easy to accidentally fire a charge shot using the laser handguns on the VE-20B, it is much less likely to happen while repeatedly tapping the fire button. so that's neat!

tinkering around with a new PVP build
did a couple test matches in ranked, got completely slaughtered by a duckett + oscillator build in my first match but won handily against a dual duckett + laser sword build in my second match
(albeit i almost lost the first round of the latter bc i thought i had the shotgun equipped when i actually had moonlight on)
the laser shotgun is kinda wild. charges super quick on the VE-20C, and cools so fast that i had a couple moments of "oops, forgot to swap to Moonlight... oh, it's already done cooling off, awesome"

I’ve struggled with coming up with loadouts that need a heavy frame to work and that feel good for me to use- I’ve p much only used mid to lightweight frames, other than my first spring chicken build

I’ve never felt like shields have clicked for me
i find the key for shields is to use them with a left arm weapon that takes a while to reload, or that you use situationally
Gotcha. what’s the game plan with this?
largely, pepper the opponent(s) with the LR and missiles until ACS break, then punish with bazooka. shield covers you while you're not firing the bazooka
but don't be afraid to take potshots with the bazooka either, they can be quite rewarding if you get the timing right
and the benefit of the quad legs is that you can fire charged LR shots and bazooka shots without stopping
the Harris has good DHA too so it's your backup punish if the opponent staggers while the bazooka's reloading

Starting off with the basics, A friend of mine asked me why I didn't have a Heavyarms. I told him that everyone does that. Online, everybody is using a mockup.of Heavyarms or Eva Unit 01.

These are a pair of my Star Wars inspired ones (I have many). I will try to get better shots of some fine details later, but there are decals of aurebesh text all over.
The T-65 x-wing canopy and the TIE-Interceptor viewport both have little dudes in them, but the TIE viewport has more detail no one will ever see than I have put into a signal decal.
I decalled up my Loader 4 and changed the weapons and internals. I accidentally then saved over it, but I have most of the work done, such as making the decals.
I'll update later as I put them back.

Inspired by a show I watched when I was little and a show that some of clients often watch now. I work with developmentally disabled adults.
In team matches, people have learned to fear this one. They either gang up or stay out of its way. Crazy that the international version of the game doesn't offer Japanese text support for its image editor. I had to fake it so hard.
I usually use the data field to make note of things like what it's for and when you can first built it (ie. "Hvy PVP, Post NG++ Cel240")
This one is titled "PeaceNeverAnOption" and the data field just reads "SoUHaveChosenDeath"
