#Armored Core General!

nepenthes?
OCELLUS specifically
i like the pulse buckler that blocks like 95% of incoming damage if you time it right
tricky, but satisfying if you pull it off
theres a big shield that what you do is just use it then get into a corner as you drop down towrds the laser defenses
and if you do it right it blocks most of it
apparently in PVP dual zim builds will use a shield to mitigate damage during their downtime
or at least so Chrightt said in his last video. he's deeper into the PVP scene than me so i trust him š
we ball
Now i just need to S-rank all the missions and i'll have 100% my second game on steam
My second fromsoft game too
I still say you shouldnāt bother unless doing that is fun
probably true
i'm not going to like
try to speedrun it
i'm going to just, do it slowly
Risa and 432 are both top 10 players that do that
chrighht is better than me at pvp too fwiw, i know i posted like 5.5 hours ago but this is a continuation of my last post haha
Armored Core really needs a gun that isn't a gun
Coral and Kojima weapons are probably the least "normal" weapons in the series in terms of payload tbh
it's just not a series that wants to be too magical for the most part. Not hard sci-fi, but definitely trying to maintain the feel of it
how do NEXT's work in AC4A
trying out AC4A so i made a new emblem
having jump and boost be the same button is kind of annoying
going to take a while to get used to the control scheme too
AC6 has the weapons on the bumpers, buttons for boost and jumpt and all that
I usually remap AC4 some
AC4A, instead of giving you four buttons to use for weapons, gives you two weapon buttons and two buttons to switch between shoulder and handheld
which i don't think makes a lot of sense frankly
when you could just, have four buttons for the guns???
it makes more sense if you look at it as a slow evolution from the old pre-analog stick control scheme
i figured it was something related to iterative game design
fromsoft as a devloper is known for aweful controls
either way it's kinda janky
yes
i switched using guns to the triggers and changed weapons change buttons to the bumpers
AC4A seems to have a lot more stuff to customize
got like 4 different types of boosters and stabilizers
also i've named my new AC Dash Pinion
ok no sensitivity adjustment kinda sucks ngl
going to be kinda miserable keeping enemies in sight
yeah this is significantly more difficult than AC6 just because of the controls
cleared the first collared order match but the second one is obliterating me
lmao
started a mission and tried to figure out how to reload my guns
immediately purged both of them
nice
I never really vibed with AC4A's gameplay tbh
there is way many buttons you need to press at once
it's playable, it's just fast to a level that feels so, so twitchy
holding down shoot buttons, boosting and trying to move the camera all at once is
a bit of a trial
Soundtrack rules though
NEXT's dont look fun to me
All that I see
Ooh, I'm scary``` truly lyrics for the ages
Of course I'm one of those insane AC 1-3 fans so ymmv
though even I'll fully admit that control scheme was godawful
this game could have MASSIVELY benefited from stick sensitivity options or a hard fucking lock on
this shit goes so fucking fast and it takes me like 5 seconds to turn
also why the hell does the camera turn speed go super fast when you boost
big fan of overed boost though
i would love to have a modern AC game a la AC6 but with some of the superspeed fuckshit from this game
ITāS HER
yeah for some reason the second Order Match is outrageous
Mrs.Theresia
Sheās a demon
literally just no-diffed me multiple times
Theresia is what old missile boat ACs were like
Ie WAY WORSE
You just canāt Itano Circus people in AC6 like you used to be able to with RMs, the support missile arms, and 2x24 vert racks
ok tried the updated Dash Pinion on her and she fucking annihilated me once more
it wasn't even close
oh
huh
my missions changed, i had one from Omer that isn't there now?
ok so this mission needs me not to shoot as much
or well, more carefully at least
Oh, thing worth knowing about AC4A
Each mission you do changes the missions available to you next; additionally if you do 3 in a row from one provider youāll unlock their parts catalogue
Yeah AC6 spells out decision points
good to know
Previous games are less kind in this regard, though some are obvious anyway
i was wanting some more parts
(defend place and attack place are generally going to be mutually exclusive, you know?)
i figure yeah
i did see while looking up some stuff that apparently the most efficient route to unlocking all items in the game is in like 14 missions or something like that
Oh yeah fair thing to point out: AC4A locks you into the bad ending first time āround and then rolls out new missions on the 2nd playthrough for the Maybe Good Ending
Thereās an added mission on the 3rd playthrough for the Even Worse Route
Old King is your waifu now
also i gotta say, kinda like this games customization a lot
so far at least
there is a lot more options than in AC6
and the whole thing with stabilizers is pretty cool
I liked the multiplicity of boosters, but Stabilizers was always a little too far for me
Luckily you can just set them to Auto and the game will definitely for-sure get you standing upright 100% of the time :^)
i kinda like the stabilizers
AC6 simplified the mech construction a bit for sure
i don't mind sitting for ages customizing stuff so getting into nitty gritty details like that is fun
not to the point where it's boring now, but definitely simpler
yeah AC6 simplified a lot it seems
which is not necessarily a bad thing
since it also allowed them to streamline and improve stuff
It's a major way in which AC6 is a throwback to AC1
lol yeah as much as I love the old games, those controls are really something
genuinely just š at having two whole buttons dedicated to switching weapons
as if having the ability to just use the weapons on demand instead would take up more buttons
AC6 is actually simpler than AC1 in some ways tbh. FCS, for example, are all mostly the same outside of a couple of fairly specific stats
whereas in AC1 your choice of FCS changed the size of the box in which you could maintain locks in, how many locks you could maintain, your maximum lock range...
if/when they end up making a AC7 i would be pretty happy if they brought back some of this stuff
would love to see a modernized AC game with the complexity that some of the old games seem to have
let me get into the nitty gritty of the mech building
Also, heads in AC6 are broadly similar. Like they have some variety in defensive stats but they all have the same functionality more or less
whereas heads in AC1 might have varying radar performance, or a bio-sensor
(Bio-sensor was a big deal for some missions, you couldn't lock onto biological targets without one)
i get why they simplified stuff and i think it works well in the game
but fuck i really want this complexity in a modern game
oh yeah i'm not sure what Biosensors would even apply to in AC6. The coral mealworms I guess?
i love sitting for ages customizing stuff and it was already really fun AC6
we NEED Biosensors for those fucking mealworms
how could Fromsoft rob us of this
AC1 heads also had varying levels of computer performance and mapping functions - some heads would let you check an area map that it'd fill out as you explored a zone, others wouldn't.
Some would show you incoming missiles on the radar, others wouldn't
that sort of thing
that does sound pretty interesting
if nothing else i want Overed boost back
i'm a fucking speed demon and i need my fix
I really loved the early AC games, they were super ambitious in a cool way
i need the speed boost injected directly into my veins
Yeah I like the weird detailed stuff the old ac games had
Let me equip a really strong booster only on my left side
And the specifcally tune my ACs turning to maximum
Oooh, you doing spirit of motherwill? Or just one of the handful of other times you can VOB in
I don't actually remember what order AC4A missions go in lol
So I havenāt played AC6 in like, a year. Any of yāall have advice on how to dip my toes back into the game?
I know Iām not going to delete my save because god knows I donāt want to be road blocked by balteus or that fucking helicopter again
yeah doing Spirit of Motherwill rn
what the hell is shooting all these missiles
i keep my health absolutely annihilated by bursts of missiles
Motherwill has massive missile pods on the "runway" sections
also do i like, need to destroy every single gun on it to kill it
cause it did not want to die
briefing just said "shoot all the weapons to hurt it" but i did that and it did not die
Will need to wreck a good chunk of it to deal internal damage, melee melts it if you brought one.
do i just shoot the weapons or is there some other part of it for me to hit
damn i can dual melee in this game
sick
One thing I kinda wish they'd done different in AC6 is OS Tuning
My understanding is that in earlier games it was a selective process where you couldn't get everything so you had to choose which aspects of your performance you wanted to boost
So like, actual 'tuning' rather than the across-the-board power boost it is in AC6
Go back and replay old missions? Idk how far in you got, but that'll give you a way to shake off the rust in a low stakes environment while also getting extra cash if there are parts you still haven't picked up from the shop
And you can pick and choose which missions to replay so you can skip the annoying ones
ok i was just
focusing on the wrong stuff i guess?
just needed to take out the missiles and the big guns
did not need melee
the shoulder missile launchers do premium damage
Thatāsā¦yeah I donāt know why my brain blipped over that
the closest would be stacking up on coral gear (horrors beyond comprehension), maybe slotting in the laser drones to represent the Hydra doing Hydra things.
yeah AC4 mechs are more akin to very precise WMDs than something like a tank or even a jet
i am going to perform unspeakable acts of ultraviolence to keep this thing
i NEED Overed Boost
the final boss in Verdict Day arrives to the battlefield in one, it's great
that's right, get that full payout
though allies are fun just for the dialogue
everyone loves May Greenfield
i'm already getting dogshit payout due to my ac getting smash to bits and spending all my ammo
i do NOT need to share it with someone else
Remembering playing AC2 again
gods yeah i kinda do hate the lack of lock on and slow as fuck camera speed
yeah hardlock is totally new to AC6 - your ability to keep someone vaguely in your sights with high turn speed is a huge advantage in earlier games.
hitting anything is a godsdamned nightmare
You used to be able to literally run circles around slow mechs sometimes
got a turn speed of 1 rotation per 5 minutes
Yeah 4/fA in particular made speed a god stat
Mind you that was an intended goal it is the speed demons generation
do love that
but man if they didn't want to give me hardlock could i at least have a faster camera
Nyoom
Mrs.Theresia is a fucking demon
no matter what i do she absolutely destroys my NEXT
Quickturn is very good for keeping track of enemies in for answer
Today is Friday in California! Post shooteing Iguazu!
Iguazu deserves that
Haters end up in craters
Haven't played in a while so this one will have to do
"No one can stop you now"
"eat 18k damage lul"
||ALLMIND deserves to lose for having the absolute gall and stupidity to pick Iguazu of all people to pilot its super duper AC||
||XD iguazu was her last choice, 621 killed everyone else š||
||the way i read it, ALLMIND had a bunch of people uploaded into a collective AI and Iguazu got to front it, which is stupid because if anything, ALLMIND should just take control||
||or you know, give it to fucking Kate Markson, who is actually competent||
||Kate Markson who canāt shoot down 5 unarmed, unescorted and barely armoured Helicopters?||
||Yes, she is if nothing else a marked improvement on Iguazu||
||that same Iguazu who comes and tries to murder you, and then is fucking surprised when instead of siding with him to kill drones that are attacking you, you keep attacking him||
||among countless other instances of stupidity||
||Iguazu is in fact a moron yes but in terms of ability they are at the very least a moderate improvement, also If I remeber right ALLMIND needed someone of the older gens to activate the coral. And over the course of the game you kill just about every other person who meets the requirements||
||ALLMIND giving control to Iguazu is the equivalent of Glados from Portal willingly plugging Wheatley into her systems||
||completely forgetting that 621 Raven has literally been fighting for coral release the entire time and if ALLMIND had just, not tried to kill 621 Raven, there wouldn't have been a problem to begin with||
||Yeah ALLMIND did make just about the worse possible decision there||
||ALLMIND absolutely just decided to do a suicide move by attacking 621 Raven||
||there was absolutely no reason at all to do it since 621 Raven at that point was literally going to trigger the coral release without any forcing by ALLMIND anyway||
||My only guess at a reason is they wanted/needed the trigger to be part of their network and figured 621 and Ayre weren't going to agree to that||
||i would have been fine with ALLMIND hitching a ride in my head to the coral release tbh||
||Ayre is already living there rent free, so it's not much different||
||To each their own I suppose||
||look i already have one voice in my head, having another one wouldn't make much difference||
||My fear would be unlike Ayre being a voice in your head you become a voice in ALLMIND's head||
||i suppose that is warranted, and clearly a valid fear since ALLMIND decided to just outright try to kill 621 Raven with Iguazu||
||Yeah it's a big roll of the dice I would not be willing to gamble on personally||
||yeah fair, i would be fine with it if i could figure out some way to stop ALLMIND from potentially taking over||
||you know Kate isnāt a human right||
Nah kate's real, i heard her talking in the locker room
She kept saying allmind had the sickest abs
She said that ALLMIND was shredded
She said ALLMIND had the sexiest voice and was the smartest boss lady mercenary network
She said ALLMIND can divide by zero and nor return an error
Haha I do not know what you are talking about, ALLMIND is a simple computer system for mercenaries. Mercenaries like me, Kate Markson. My hobbies include making ATP and stuffing food in my face orifice. reposting my joke from last time
she ALL on my MIND till I Armored Core
She Alea until I Iacta Est
She Coral on my Candidate til I Release
||that's the joke||
The ATP joke is the funniest part of this and it's 11/10
||ALLMIND when she completely fucks the plan up due to letting Iguazu have anything to do with it||
||i felt bad beating up Ayre||
||especially cause i did it on repeat a few times when i was farming COAM to buy all the items in the shop||
||I was expecting it to be crazy hard from stuff I saw||
||but she still did a lotta damage and due to PILEBUNKER I didn't get to see her go into her jetmode||
i kinda want to try seeing if i can beat her with my goofiest build, Nuclear Whiplash
my main build is just an unga bunga laser lance + pilebunker
my fastest soldier who is least equipped to do battle
speed is like, 397, it's extremely speedy
love me some good pilebunking
what's your boosters
also the sampus/pistols could allow you to go even faster (but damage could be an issue)
lemme hop in the game and i can pull up the build
even with those i only gain maybe 1-3 speed at most so it's more worth it to just run Ludlow's
||btw what was your Ayre-killer build||
||pretty sure i took her out with my general build, Pale Painter||
||went with a pulse gun, the kranich (shoulder pulse gun), and the classic laserlance + pilebunker and assault armor||
Pale Painter, my main AC
also did it with Pale Painters upgrade, Pale Painter Ruber
this is Nuclear Whiplash's build also
š¤
colors good
hey I also use the shade eye, HAL, and Basho
only diff is I use the wrecker legs for more stability
i'm a big fan of reverse joint legs
RJs are fun yeah
they jump high which i enjoy
kasuar + alula = BIG HOP
I didnāt like them at first in this one despite being an RJ main in previous games just because the vibe is different and didnāt come naturally to me though
RJs used to be flight/aerial spec primarily, in this one they actually do best on the ground
i found normal legs jump to be sorta insufficient for dodging stuff so i prefer reverse joints for jumping over stuff
It took some getting used to
Truenos, here I come
Have you given Nachtreiher a shot?
They have an excellent jump for regular biped legs, and they don't have the annoying floaty quickboosts that make you a sitting duck
i have not
i also prefer the aesthetics of reverse joint legs so i'm not massively fussed changing things rn
Yeah Nacht Legs are actually great
they have a good feel to them despite the highish drain
though sometimes I forget they're not actually RJs and whiff my boost kicks lol
hm
they have the rj aesthetic
everything by my head is the elcano one
Zoom
Z O O M
You can mount better missiles (the 3 cell plasma missiles are objectively better than the 6 cell because their spread is better, and the 6 cell normal missiles are way more EN efficient) but i like how the dual 6cell wings look
I wish we had old school hangars
Would love to whip out a pair of vientos or vp-66lh
Or have a pulse blade hangar'd
yeah the 3-cells are what I throw on several of my lighter builds when I don't have something better to do with a shoulder slot
they're just nice to have
I just love the look on the 6 cells haha
big AC2 Frighteners vibes from that one
Hell yeah i see it
I usually try to put a gradient implying lights above the visor on the Mind Alpha head so it looks more like the QUEEN or whichever
Hornet?
Idr the gen 3 name
I built this thing before i played ac2 lol
But i guess the design is just THAT iconic that it went back in time to embed itself into my brain
it is honestly p evident that Balam and Arquebus' core part sets (Melander and the Arquebus stuff around the VP-40S core) are basically callbacks to older-gen parts from Gen 3 and so on
Yes. And the basho arms are almost identical to the starter ac for gen 3.5
while a few parts have some aesthetic similarities to 'em, wouldn't hate for them to eventually add in some parts similar in styling to NEXT parts or some of the bits from ACV/VD
there were a few fairly unique designs within the Gen 4/5 games
though I guess the Schneider stuff is closer to the 4th gen style...
I want gungriffon parts š
I love mecha but i loooooooooove the more western cockpit sim centric mech games
X-sobrero (fragile?) was so weird but like
Kinda cool
I'm weird because 4 was my least favorite both design and gameplay wise, I was one of the 12 people who saw ACV as an upgrade
The arms forts were cool tho
i do enjoy
i like the speed of AC4A since that's what i tried playing
the controls leave, much to be desired
V had that sense of weight I like and the mechs feel like... How to describe it
makes sense
you can fly for WAY longer in AC4A than you can in 6 also
NEXT's just built different i guess
4 was "if I'm in the air this much why am I not a plane"
fair
Mind you I like plane games
certified AMBAC moment
Just my brain goes "if not land vehicle why leg"
i like the stronger mobility in AC4A but i get that it's not for everyone
Plus quads being able to dig in as sniper/cannon platforms was chill
I always thought it would be a cool schtick for them to be able to climb up walls
What with the extra points of contact and ability to dig in with leg pylons
plus like, AC's are already like, real robots stretching into super robot territory in my mind, while NEXT's just jump straight into super robot shit by just being fast as fuck and hypermobile
I also really liked how in v you could mostly only fly with overed boost or short glides by first taking high ground
If we had 6's speeds plus that whole jump climbing/not fully flying mobility thing I'd be in heaven
get why 6 streamlined things but i would also enjoy more customization options
in AC4A you have like, 4 different boosters to buy and you can add weights and shit to balance your AC too
Shoulder extensions š„ŗ
trueeeee
Relation missiles and intercept missiles/ciws
There was a, either 6 or 8 cell missiles launcher and relation missiles combo in AC2
Delicious
nice
ZEX-RS/HOUND and ZWM-M24/IMI, sorry, 4 cell launcher
Middile missiles were pretty fun
For me, it was how the campaign in 4A was way way way way way too easy
I didn't have to learn anything about stats or AC design
Just slap on a big gen and some strong PA busting guns and go
Oh i had to learn ONE thing
Camera stat influences fcs lock range
For the REDRUM fight
i've not gotten very far in it yet
i think i took out the Spirit of Motherwill last time i played
It's fun!
I'm planning to go back to it and try to clear all missions with one of the starting mechs
getting my fucking ass beat by that one lady in the games version of Arena
closest i got to winning was like, getting her down to half health
Gatling arms + Gatling back unit
That is one thing I will give 4/fA
You never cooled those down
It was all BRRRRRRRRT
I miss arm weapons
hell yeah
well, NEXTs are powered by exotic particle-spewing custom reactors that literally turned the world into a wasteland of irradiated desert from overuse
so them being really, really fast and mobile is not surprising lol
Kinda tempted to try emulating 3&4 myself
how does one best use the Truenos?
I love how they look and they feel satisfying to land but otherwise it seems the enemies skitter away before I can use a double-Trueno barrage
I think I see them used most as a ranged stagger punish
they're probably the closest thing in the game to a true "sniper rifle"
highly accurate even at longish ranges, hits like a truck
||Ayre is adorbs XD||
||You had a li'l date~ ||
it actually does IIRC? I think- hrm, yeah I think
there is a hard lock option.
Just if you move the camera you break the lock instantly
AC4A, not AC6
I've usually used them as a stagger punish because of the ready-fire time, the very fast projectile speed makes it track poorly up-close (can fire unguided if the target dosen't dodge).
that's how i prefer to use them too
you can use them as a stagger builder but since the tracking nerf that's not as reliable
sorry, flight path nerf
Test pilot kicked in the face, we are officially back
Quite a messy fight though, Iāve still got some muscle memory to get back
"What about the other pilot?"
"Nothing but hamburger, sir!"
I wonder how good melee will be in seamless co op
One of my friends who hasn't seen eva has simply assumed shinji is a girl and the main couple is her and asuka
I have not corrected them because it's funny
like a mod or did i miss something
Upcoming mod
Oroboro has been showing it off with another stream whose name i forgor
nice
She's been testing it with him
I want to coop with friends
ye
I think bringing 2 loader 4s to a mission would ne fun
console player moment
I did mean AC4A, I think it was like- press the right stick?
Never did stick to using it tho, at least as far as I can remember, so I have no idea how well it handles
I sincerely could'a sworn it had one- but it has been a while so it might be there but less useful than otherwise, or it could just be me misremembering
canon now
mzcxnmn
it has a lock thing but it's not hardlock like in AC6
as soon as they exit LOS the lock breaks in AC4A from what i can tell
Who up armoring they core
Armoring the core so my AC doesn't explode when shot
Ahhh- right I remember now
kinda funny to see people talking about changing builds in AC6 when i sorta just did the exact same thing until i got to the final boss of NG++ at which point i just made an upgraded version of that thing i'd been using
i think i just played the game in a very boneheaded way
probably made it a little harder for yourself
probably
i used dual machine guns and 4 piece missiles for like 90-95% of the game pretty much
yeah not a bad allrounder
it worked
but also definitely not specialized for most stuff
yeah
surprisingly i did not encounter much problems from bosses like ||Ibis|| who i was told would be difficult
watching one of Bricky's reviews on AC6 and he brought out the banger line ||"Genociding the stars is what i'd call, not kosher" while talking about the Fires of Raven ending||
||"and the final fight is really just, how hard can that one guy from Balam mald. Turns out the answer is pretty fucking hard" accurate description of fighting ALLMIND Iguazu||
||you call yourself a hater but has the sheer force of your hate ever given you the willpower to overcome an all-encompassing AI so that you can have one last chance to punch that stupid bastard square in their stupid smug face? i thought not||
||you can't say something that badass about Iguazu||
||also he lore accurately fails and dies like a nerd so you know||
||the thing about Iguazu is that his ALLMIND moment would be badass if it weren't entirely rooted in petty spite and resentment so it wraps back around to being pathetic||
||although he does somewhat accurately call out 621 for just killing their way through anybody who happens to be in their way||
||bro is such an unfathomable shitter that even an AI couldn't stop him from being a complete dickbag and fucking up everything||
People sleep on how surprisingly badass it is that ||he survives Balamās pullout long enough to track you down in a frothing rage and, in an amazing hater moment, decides heās going to kill Snail too||
||Snail also deserves it for being a shitter||
Truly.
||his dying noise makes me laugh so fucking hard||
||one of the fucking noises of all time that anyone made while dying||
I didn't want to repeatedly do the mission just to hear this line so I recorded it instead.
||actually cracks me up every time i hear it, shit's fucking hilarious||
||Snail, the guy so shitty they let you kill him two different times in two different ways||
||hey that applies to Iguazu as well||
||Snail is also a tremendous shitter for presumably sending Walter to kill Rusty||
||i can't believe Rusty gets capped in all timelines, they did not give his ass a break š ||
||it's a pretty ambiguous death in Liberator, but then everyone's fate in Liberator is pretty ambiguous||
||Rusty ejected just in time and survived the Liberator ending. in my heart||
||also I don't think there's any indication of what happened to him either way in Alea Iacta Est||
||what the fuck was up with all the AC's in the water in the Alea Iacta Est ending btw, are those the ghosts of all the people we killed like, brought back through the ascendance of coral or what||
||i read it as coral is being dispersed throughout the universe to create a synthesis of human/coral/machine but i think it's supposed to be pretty ambiguous beyond "Coral Release has changed everything forever"||
||fair enough, i read it as like, a kind of instrumentality type thing where the souls of humanity kinda got ascended, even kinda those we killed during the game||
||the symbolism of like, the dead AC's lying in the endless ocean getting up one by one made me think that||
no for sure, i can see that
||i like to imagine that my buddy got to join in on the weird coral enlightenment||
||we all ignore Rusty's death in our own ways||
||BUDDY š ||
||except for Fires of Raven because you're destroying everything you love in that ending anyway and he gets a badass on-camera last stand at least||
||also what the fuck was ALLMIND even planning to do with the coral convergence that necessitated killing Raven||
||i think it was trying to assimilate Raven and Ayre, not kill them||
||cause fighting Raven at that point is just straight up suicide, especially with that moron Iguazu at the helm||
||in fact it... kind of sounds like it was assimilating all of the dead pilots, Iguazu was just the one who got to talk||
||that's what i thought the final mech thing was||
||one of his lines is something to the effect of "there's a lot of us in here"||
||all of the pilots of Rubicon, recorded and amalgamated into one super warrior||
||which makes it EVEN MORE BAFFLING that Iguazu got to pilot it||
||maybe he was actually just the last physical pilot left so that's why||
||i kinda read it like he had his body in the first AC we destroy, but when the second one pops in he's in the hivemind||
||cause ALLMIND talks about him not lasting when you fight the first AC, and then he starts talking about joining the monster for revenge when the second one appears||
||huh, interesting||
||so i read it as his physical body dying in the first AC and becoming the "final form" in the second one||
||ALLMIND scrapes him off the ground after the Snail/Iguazu fight and goes "i can work with this"||
||basically||
||that was my take at least||
||makes as much sense as anything||
||he's fourth gen like Raven, so he has the Coral implants as well--maybe that's a factor||
||yeah, i think so, the game wasn't really clear about anything happening at that point||
||i'd say it's more than fair to assume||
||though i don't know if it has to be considering Dolmayan interfaced with the coral and as far as i know he wasn't enhanced||
||i think there's something about him being an ex-Doser, so he'd ingested coral even if he doesn't have implants||
||which might be an inferior version of having the implants w/r/t making Contact||
||but i'm just speculating off of scraps of lore, as one does with a From game||
||having a like, physical connection to the coral definitely is implied to be something you need to interface with it like with Ayre||
||yeah, she says during the historical data mission that your coral implants are the reason she can make contact with you||
||but Iguazu also registers her presence as an irritating ringing sound despite having the same implants, so it seems like there are other factors in play too||
||i think it's cause 621 gets fucking mega blasted with coral during the Balteus mission||
||i think high exposure to Coral in some way is what would do it||
||that tracks, since i think Dolmayan made contact during/after the Fires of Ibis||
||Dolmayan got blown up by it during Ibis and 621 Raven got point blank exploded by the stuff in that reactor||
||I think in general coral augments make you more susceptible to hearing or more sensitive towards feeling coral wave entities, which is because of the coral having a direct link to your actual body. With Dolmayan he dosed himself and probably got exposed during Ibis, but with 621, the enhancements probably had a much more powerful effect for it||
||which is also probably why ALLMIND wants a Gen 4 to do the coral release, because gen 4's are already kind of melded with the coral||
||621 is more valuable up to a point as an independent pawn than a drone, so ALLMIND keeps them in play and plugs in Iguazu as a backup||
||gen 4 augmentation inadvertantly acted as a theoretical proof of concept, which became less theoretical and more practical with the introduction of the symbiosis of C4-621 Raven and Ayre||
||there is a lot of really fucking interesting implications with the lore of AC6||
yeah, for sure. i love it
||i also wonder what the fuck is up with ALLMIND and where she came from, and why she is so damned interested in coral release||
||my theory is that it is actually a mercenary support AI, and it was just designed a little too well and started having its own thoughts about its purpose and how it might best "support" mercenaries and humanity as a whole. but i'm also fully making that up based on nothing||
||i just love the trope of artificial intelligences who are intelligent enough to start reflecting on, and adjusting, the parameters of their purpose||
||i saw someone theorize that ALLMIND might be a C-wave mutation like Ayre, which could be a thing, but i don't think it is just because we see no indication that the ALLMIND AC's are coral powered in any way||
||if that were to be the case, if not the final ALLMIND Ac, then at minimum Kate Markson's AC should have been a coral powered one, like the institute AC that Ayre pilots||
||I think the WoG is the teal stuff is essentially actual human consciousness converted into a coral-like format on a coral substrate||
||huh, interesting...||
There's ||unused lines from the ALLMIND boss fight where she says "when properly agitated, human brainwaves function much the same as Coral", or something to that effect||
||that certainly lends more credence to the idea of Coral Release actually working aside from the fact that Raven performs it in the Alea Iacta Est ending||
||also gives some interesting context to how Humans and Coral can interface so well and why ALLMIND believes Coral Release woudl succeed||
||ALLMIND had the data all along to essentially prove that it was fully possible||
||iguazu was quite literally so mad he started emitting hater energy||
the Main Dish chest is actually pretty good at energy regen
the NGI boosters also carry you pretty far too
I pretty much did the same thing you did, but without the final fight upgrade
||if they make a sequel I'm desperately hoping they continue from a version of this ending zmxnzc- Raven and Ayre become recurring characters or i unno XD||
||it is- hella fun, and also so fucking funny that his sheer salt can do that XD||
Goop beam
I cast MARMALADE
Lmao
so the beam is really cool (and can be canceled with a QB) but the only problem is that you can't see what you're aiming at and then they slip out of your beam range and then stagger you
||I find it funny that by all means ALLMIND got wrecked at least in my version of events, by a lightweight dual ransetsu dual six-cell mostly elcano with loaned ALLMIND head part AC||
||I wonder how mad Iguazu must be?||
||lightweight bipedal, I cannot get enough S P E E D||
ah, a week hiatus and I've still got it!
I was genuinely worried I'd have fallen apart but I think I got a new record time
I somehow became more aggressive and effective???
i feel like sometimes stepping away from a game for a bit lets you come back to it with a bit of a clearer head
I got absolutely obliterated by ||ALLMIND|| to the point where i almost rage quit then the next day i hopped in and casually S-ranked the mission first rime i beat it
Time off does something to you
Today is Friday in California! Post shooteing Iguazu!
I stopped play AC6 but it keeps coming back to haunt me
I'm now recreating AC6 builds in Lancer

So far, I got Zimmerman + Assault Kick spammer and Mood's pilebunker build
Also, very atypical build for me. Middleweight? Energy weapons?? what the fuck am I doing
Whatās a PvE build archetype that I should learn to get good with that isnāt shotgun+Lance+PB or laser guns+aurora
I especially liked recreating Mood's build, the playstyle is almost a 1 to 1 recreation
DD/288 with 5d6 + 8 and up to + 4 accuracy by turn 2 is funny af
have you heard the good news of our lord and savoir dual ransetsus?
Iāve been trying dual ransetsus or curtis with missiles and full missile boats, and struggling with both
i feel like with dual ransetsus I donāt have great stagger punish
and the stagger build is slow
Take a songbird or something in a shoulder slot
Dual ransetsus is a consistent, reliable, all range stagger and damage dealer. Once you trigger stagger, you just need one laser/plasma/gl shoulder to deliver a major punch
for the other shoulder pick something utility. Shield? VCPL? Drone launcher? have fun
If you have a big slow build, yes
i never used them even once so i can't really say
Honestly Ransetus aren't terrible for stagger punish either
they do have 200+ direct hit
also Wuergers are kind of sleeper powerful. They have solid stagger and their charge attack is basically an extended range melee hit. I've really enjoyed playing with it
my missile boat build has a bazooka (Majestic, i think?) in the offhand for punish
charged Curtis shot works well for punish too
there's options
ooh thatās a good tip
the 95% IG pulse buckler is really, really good and PvE is a good environment to get used to the timing of it
whatās the best use case?
honestly, you can use it on anything that has a good damage strat going with its other three weapons. there's really no scenario in which "actually no, i don't take damage from that shot" isn't a great option
and unlike other shields, it's meant to be deployed for a split second and then put away, so you're not shutting down your left arm weapon to use it
I'm sure there's better but with the shield wall Act.. 5? Spoilers ||Dropping through the laser defense system like a stone with the shield up. 'We're not interacting with this boss today.'||
i think the build i have uses the light laser rifle + punch dagger laser shotgun in the hands, and the laser drones on the other shoulder
reverse joint legs to shift range bands easily with a single QB so i can jump within 100m to use the shotgun charge, then jump back out to kite with the drones and rifle
like so
sick
so i guess with shields the question is whether you want to "parry" with a buckler or whether you want to shield turtle with one of the more stable shields. bucklers are harder to use but require less of building your AC around them. shield turtling is more straightforward but you have to build your AC with an eye towards the fact that you'll be shutting down your left arm weapon whenever you have your shield up
stability's also much more important on turtling builds, since staggering will inactivate and overheat your shield
holy shit that's amazing though???
I'm just picturing Arquebus afterward like "wait, you didn't even do the job"
Lol mood, that dude's such a dick
He's pretty good at melee though! Not the best, that's prolly LoyalBones or Thermidor or something
Dick or not, have to admit that his AC is really fun to play.
For sure
Translates pretty well to Lancer as well from what I've been able to brainrot so far
"Hi, lancer store? I would like to purchase 2 DSAS please"
"That's not... that's not how it works in this setting"

I mean
Nothing is stopping you from firing both DSAS then ramming for the assault kick
Just need to overcharge ez
Me wanting to replicate my lancer build in AC but I'm not really sure how to do bristlecrown
Assault Armor? š
Fair
Now to just figure out how to not suck at chainsaw
I will assault boost in place of having grapples
We all wanted this to happen

this video is so funny
i love it referring to every single enemy as an MT
Lmao so i had a friend from when i played competitive Squadrons
Invited her over
We hung out and ended up watching like the entire first season of she ra
And then i picked gundam: the witch from mercury as her first anime š
She wanted something both gay and mecha so it seemed a logical choice
any gundam would fit but I agree thatās a good first one
Remember that the very first gundam series was carried by female fans
They hungry for that CharMuro
I'm hungry for reserve joint mechs
Funny enough, when I was building Aerial, I fucked up one of the legs and nearly made a Reverse Joint Aerial

gonna knock out some S-ranks today i think
got the one for the first mission
time to dunk on Dafeng Student Pilot
sorry dude but i need that S-rank
obliterated
got to the mission where you ||defend the strider|| from NG++ and i stopped cause damn i just don't feel like trying to do that one right now
flamethrows ignore armor and rockets can also be good against them
I S-ranked that one with Queen of Nails pretty much by accident, haha. Those enemies are some of the most dramatic "damage type matters" enemies in the game tbh
yeah, i was prepared for a long and bitter grind getting through it and then i switched to a missile rat build and obliterated it in one try
I recommend grenade launchers
missiles and explosive weapons are solid for that one yeah
imagine how gnarly it would get if ac6 reintroduced dumb fire rockets
did you play old gen armored core? dumb fire rockets were like bazookas with no firing stance, fast fire rate, and a lot of ammo per weight, but they could not lock on at all
You can tho, just not at the same time
And you lose out on shoulder weapon
Also today finally got All-S
Arquebus Baltheus was worse than Allmind lmao
But the crown of most annoying mission goes to Investigate BAWS Arsenal
Take a pulse sword and a bazooka
Also the mech of choice for most missions where ammo cost being low wasn't an important matter
are you killing the combat log MTs as you approach the wall on the left side
itās possible I dreamt that those exist and they donāt actually
i'm killing the target things and nothing else
prolly only gonna do a few more of these missions today
gets kinda boring
might just stop at prisoner rescue
this mission isn't particularly fun even when you aren't trying S-rank
yeah i'm just not going to play anymore today
21/59 done
stopping is a great idea!
https://youtu.be/PhuvOFHRGoo?si=LcEzuymJ9H7gSKRG this is a good demonstration of the fact that you donāt have to actually play very well to get the S rank lol
Power of saving up on ammo costs
If I wanted to use gun I had to basically have an untouched heli
the S-rank approach for prisoner rescue pretty much amounts to "have you memorized the mission well enough to kill everything before the copter comes anywhere near it" and "can you not flub at the last second when it sits waiting around for Nile to kill it"
Yeah
I still haven't found where to helis spawn
I just managed to make them not spawn and I wonder if it's related to killing tetra
Clearing out smaller targets tends to give more time to work with, though the value of targets varies. I think the wall turrets are worth a ton.
managed to go really fast and succeed it
the S rank criteria are pretty bewildering tbh
sometimes i'm sure i must have gotten S rank and i end up with A instead, other times i'm positive i completely botched it and i get an S
it just varies a lot
some missions are basically gimmes if you didn't use a checkpoint or idle for half an hour, while others require ludicrous precision
Which helis?
And people have the gall to say "it isn't like old school armored core"
The transports on the end, with 4 MTs each that fly from the direction of the city
Unless idk, been killing Nile not fast enough
Oh yeah i have no clue where those ones spawn either! I've looked too
If it's any consolation i don't think you need to look for them to S-rank it
You don't, it's just easier to kill them before
It's all about balance of bonus pay/ammo+rep costs
If you are using double Scudder like my stupid ass on that mission, it's probably harder to s rank compared to taking idk, moonlight/ML-Redshift
something that lets you keep Nile's Attention while mopping up the MT adds will also help a lot with getting the high copter health benefit
I usually just assault armor the mt adds
That works too
I just got accurate and fast enough to do it, because already got the S
Still, BAWS Arsenal can go fuck itself
Now I guess I can haunt the multiplayer or something
did you find the hidden unit on the right?
Yeah
I probably don't have all the lore logs but hunting them seems like a massive pain
they arent requried nor are they noted anywhere
Pretty much, yeah
Apparently getting 50 gives you an emblem, at least according to wikis but like
Weh, whatever
I kinda wanna put together like
A comprehensive setting guide for rubicon sometime
Taking all the canon info and extrapolating the rest
Shit's fucked.
19 short of greatness š
one pilebunker in each arm
Double melees would be a great excuse for weapon arms too
Yes
We need to take away the two weapon limit as well so I can carry four fucking pile bunkers
XD man i was legit hoping there wouldn't be any weapons available for both arms
Though i did want right and left hand melee
the very specific left hand melee thing is a lovely throwback to AC1
oooh
I haven't used moonlight or redshift in ages lol
I think if they got a buff i'd want their light attacks to not stance bipeds
Maybe reduce their damage because of that
New patch
Lots of changes. P10SLT nerfed but that's just gonna make auroras bad again
Vientos appear changed
Someone said zimms nerfed again lol
Minor to moderate buffs to midweight parts in AP
And weight
VE-21B fcs is the new hotness tho
36/78/92 or something
Spicy
ARMORED CORE VI FIRES OF RUBICON - Update distribution notice 1.06 A new patch has been distributed to adjust game balance and and apply bug fixes. Please apply the latest patch before playing the game. Targeted Platforms PlayStation 4 / PlayStation 5 / Xbox One / Xbox Series X|S / Steam
some parts i use got affected
particularly melander heads and spring chicken legs
yeah VE-21B looking kinda good
not for my build
since i stay at close/mid range
but uh, for other builds i can see why it would be good as hell
need to try out the updated Attache and Etsujin for Ruber though
if they feel better i will consider switching fron Ludlows
idk if anyone actually builds with purely stats but i personally like to get a good feel for weapons
how they feel for my build is just as important as what kind of stats they have imo
ok tried out Etsujin
kinda like that
they tweaked the damage to be a bit higher and added more ammo for mag and total as well as projectile speed
using using Locksmith and Nightfall as my test AC's since they are quick to fight against
i'm kinda liking dual etsujin
gonna need to do some more tests comparing it with ludlows
Ve-20b dual melee with moonlight is poggers
yeah Attache didn't quite do as well against Locksmith as it did Nighfall
Etsujin and Ludlow are a bit more consistent across the board
what does it do that pairs it well with moonlight?
ooooh
yeah
that'd do it!
trying out Etsujin a bit and it's working
doing quite good honestly
might switch from Ludlows
thinking i might try playing some PvP soon
absolutely going to get trounced but i think it could be interesting to try
plus i've optimized Ruber a lot by now so it's a lot better than it was when i made it first
VP-20D generator buff (the really heavy Arquebus one) is eye-catching. Buffed EN Capacity, and EN Firearm Spec.
It's a nice alternative to NGI 000 at the cost of weight.
added some warning signs to Ruber
had an idea of making them be hidden under some of the coral color splashed onto its body
you can see the shoulders both have warning labels but the coral stain covers one of them
trying the escort mission again(fuck you escort mission) and i think i just need to kill the AC quickly enough at the end
going to need to use a double melee build to instakill him :/
kinda want to try using the pilebunker lance combo
but pilebunker is pretty much my least favourite weapon in the game due to its pathetic range
you could try the twinblade instead
pb has my whole heart but I get why folks might not like it
Or you could try Basho VE-B moonlight
moonlight benefits from generator en spec now
the bonus stacks with arm melee spec
the biggest fucking pain in the ass for this mission is you can't speed run it
mainly why i absolutely despise it
you have to do the whole thing every time
didn't manage to instakill nile but i killed him quick enough
there we go
now i never need to do that mission again
lovely
ARMORED CORE⢠VI FIRES OF RUBICON⢠update 1.06 is now available. A new patch (1.06) has been distributed to adjust game balance and and apply bug fixes. Please apply the latest patch before playing the game. MAJOR ITEMS INCLUDED IN THE LATEST UPDATE Balance Adjustments Weapon Units STUN BATON āVP-67EBā : increased Attack Power / Chg. Attack Powe...
saw that earlier
actually ended up switching my main weapons from dual Ludlows to dual Etsujin
the update made them feel a bit nicer to use
oh gods, next mission on the list is Baws Arsenal š
i think if any mission is going to make me quit trying to S-rank all missions, it'll probably be this one
Pulse Blade and chapter 1 bazooka
Don't get hit
Get the bubble breaker expansion
Should make this mission easier due to low ammo costs
2 swings and bazooka shot kills the snipers
don't get hit is the absolute worst part of this mission for me
it's stupid
this is by far my least favourite mission in the game and one of the only ones i would consider to be actually bad
going to play some other mission
too annoyed
you can take a hit or two during BAWS Arsenal without losing the S-rank ime
you just have to go stupid fast
Ah, it was by our sides all along
Our true mentor, our guiding moonlight
LIGHT WAVE BLADE āIA-C01W2: MOONLIGHTā: Energy Firearm Spec. scaling now applies
DETONATING MISSILE LAUNCHER ā45-091 JVLN BETAā: decreased Blast Radius. Each missile fired now follows the same guidance angle
Well, potentially RIP
also idk why but it struck me not so long ago that AC6 weapon reloads are basically magic
cause the mags just spawn from nowhere on conventional weaponry
at least from what i've seen
HEAVY MACHINE GUN āWR-0555 ATTACHEā : increased Direct Hit Adjustment / Projectile Speed
REVERSE JOINT [All of them!] : increased AP / Attitude Stability, decreased Weight
:)
what is attitude stability anyway
Unless I have been stupid this entire time (entirely possible) it's how much stagger they have to do to you before you go bzzzrt and stop moving
Which RJ has been the worst at in a game where staggering is pretty much king
It felt more fair when our jumps and kicks were stronger but after "take off AB and kick the life out of them" as a tactic got targeted by the nerf bat
The AP/AS boost will be nice
ye
ngl i have yet to interact with PvP at all
and i don't think Ruber is going to be a uh... particularly strong PvP AC either
I haven't done PVP in a while but I'll give it a try now that 1.06 is out
See if LCB doesn't feel like there's a massive invisible death cone
LCB?
Laser Cannon, VE-60LCB
ahhh
Someone was using it in one of my PVP clips, I forget how long ago
this is Ruber currently
But even though the hit registration is mostly fine with their other weapons you can see how the LCB shot goes by me, misses, and I still get chipped pretty good.
switched from Ludlow to Etsujin with the new update
Etsujin is cool
ye
fun guns
thankfully they fit on Ruber
since it has really tight tolerances compared to the original Pale Painter
TRAGIC: High speed collision in AC Training Facility
Hm, since Moonlight got energy spec now, I wonder if this open up other energy melee for it too
I think itās an exception bc itās both melee and ranged
the coral version of it didn't get it even i don't think
coral weapons don't get energy weapon spec in general
I just had AC6 glitch out in the coolest way
the ALLMIND fight forgot to get rid of Ayre and the sea spiders, which prompted a total shitshow in the arena. It was kind of awesome seeing that she stuck out for me, even if it was just a glitch
Was that a win run
oh yes for certain
Also, bweh more patches
Are these multiplayer focused balancing patches do you think? Iām kinda miffed that like
I wish there was an alt mission where ALLMIND kept their composure
I wish to experience this more often, this ruled
They separated single player and multiplayer balancing in elden ring, it was universally enjoyed, and then they kinda just didnāt do that
I think AC games probably have SP as a sort of training environment for PVP
So I was wondering if people thought this patch was focused on the multiplayer environment
i haven't played a single match of PvP so idk how it's being affected
And really? I got the impression that the PVP was generally seen as like
A cool side thing
Rather than the main attraction of the series
i certainly didn't buy the game for PvP, i can tell you that much
same here, I just play SP
though i don't really have an idea as to the general concensus
oh also, this fight was anime as hell, I was running my usual ultralightweight AC
speeeeeeeeed
don't know if ultra but it's mostly elcano parts, a biped, and has ransetsus
this is my Ultralightweight build
Nuclear Whiplash
i generally run a medium build though
Iām too addicted to heavy weapons so light and ultralight are forever out of my reach
Same
Wait wait wait energy firearm spec now applies to Moonlight?
Yeah
Nice
Oh shit Javelin Alpha buff too
Huh, I didn't realize that these weapons with secondary explosions were cancelling the hit stun. Interesting change
Less spread on the LDC
Also every time I see the therapist get a buff Iām like
Maybe youāll be good this time little buddy
...they nerfed pulse missiles? I thought those weren't particularly popular
Stun Baton got a buff too
I kinda hope it gets to be good tbh
Its cooling is so fast that it could be an alternative to weapon swapping for melee-focused builds
Provided it's, you know, good
Lammergier legs got a nerf aimed at hover speed and duration, no shock there
Oh interesting, they buffed shock weapons but decreased the actual damage from shock
yup
"by god we will not have the ER bleed meta all over again"
I guess that indirectly nerfs the stun guns while giving them more breathing room to buff the underused shock weapons
paint job may not be final
I have discovered that while not optimal, twin shoulder gatlings and a pair of the high ROF machine guns (not the Ludlows, the other ones) are hilarious to use on a lightweight
Real bullet hose gameplay
tfw lots of bullets
Chang Chen?
Yup
my old faves
i used them on Pale Painter
swapped them out for Pale Painter Ruber but i still love em
they buffed the attache ones
I have a lightweight I need to screencap once I get home that I use them on
this is my Pale Painter
Also twin linear rifles is fun; IMO people sleep on the Harris
though i usually tend to use the 4 missiles, not the 6 ones
Itās significantly better if I swap the legs to Firmeza haha
Guess those nerfs and buffs did some work then
nah I mean the berf to lamm speed wasnāt huge, this wouldāve been true yesterday too
lamm is just not as good for a double melee shotgun LW as a biped is
Actually I kinda wonder if there's a relationship between buffing Moonlight and buffing jump height on a bunch of bipedals--charged Moonlight is very much an attack you need to jump over
I need to finalize a midweight biped or two, gotta break out of my perma-Lightweight era
(going fast fun!!!)
nyoom
I run a midweight build or two, but I find myself wondering whether it's technically more optimal to optimize for either evasion or tankiness rather than trying to split the difference
But then, I suppose a lot depends on what you're comfortable piloting
iirc it is to a point, you either want to be under 75k or over 90k
or something like that
I just want to have a solid "this could be the boxart machine from an older generation" build running that feels fun and honest, I guess
I packed two earshots on ultralight RJ
You can too!
Actually, I have to check how the changes affect the build in practixe
Yeah iirc on the speed graph there's a zone between 75k - 80k where the speed loss from weight is so steep that you really want to be on one side or the other of it
But I'm running a midweight (72k) build that I sometimes wonder if it might perform better as a missile rat
That'd probably prohibit me from running Javelin Alpha on it though, and I love that thing
Javelin Alpha just got buffed and this pleases me
(a few bazookas/nade launchers were but that one's my favorite so nyeh.)
I already liked it because of its incredible direct hit adjustment, I'm not at all adverse to it getting better
Was also getting decent at tagging non-staggered opponents with it
Yeah, and it has pretty great base stagger on impact too
and if that hit staggers, the explosion gets the direct hit
That is very sexy of it tbh
I should jump in again and give that build another go
See if any new options have opened up now that the Alpha is lighter
I have a build with JVLN-A and a Pulse Blade that exists to make my friends panic the moment there's a stagger.
tfw all your hp is gone at once
Hmmm...
javln a was core in my build
Oh damnit I'm having build ideas again
I love that gun but I suck at using it
I really wanna run it on Lamm
I also realized that my style of play is probally due to playing custom robo too much
Oh, the VP-422 legs got an AP buff too. I wonder, if I swapped out the core to make it even tankier...
VP-40D also got a buff, and I'm curious by how much because that was already one of my most-used generators
this combo works with ve-20b moonlight now haha
when i get on tonight i'll record it
but i made a build with ve-20b based around melee comboing
you can also try to land charged moonlight with ve-20b
which is now ridiculous if you can land it
You donāt save it just for stagger punish right?
its often what causes the stagger for me
i keep my melee and javlin on the same side
and just swap
I'll save it for stagger punish if the opponent's nearly staggered, but if they've still got a ways to go I'll try and pop them with it to get a chunk of impact buildup
Landing bazooka hits on unstaggered opponents takes timing and a bit of luck, but it's so satisfying when it happens
I feel like itād be more efficient to swap the javelin for a pressure weapon that has uptime that lasts for the javelinās reload time, right?
Depends
I keep three pressure weapons (a rifle and two missiles) in my other three slots and use the Javelin for either burst impact or stagger punish as applicable
I find it handy to equip weapons that can cover multiple roles--rifles that can do pressure and stagger punish, bazookas that can do burst impact and stagger punish, that sort of thing
The less strict your combat rotation is the less likely it is to get fucked up
Here's all the numbers
Stolen from main AC discord
Vientos nerfed is gonna make LWs a lot less good
Wait those nerfs are tiny
Hm
how do open this
LWs still have other options
