Iconoclast uses a d3 as well. I'm sure there are other first party uses besides that one, that's just the one I immediately remembered
And since there are weapons using d3, people would have to be familiar with how to d3 anyways

Question on Rat King license - is the Salvager Drone meant to be constantly be deployed and returned to the parent mech to reclaim its repair charge?
2 hp seems low for a one-time use, but i notice that since it can move independently, it can probably more easily crawl back to the parent more easily.

The repair charge is mainly for repairing other drones since RK make its drones take shots for it
Question regarding a Gorshkov/Hydra build floating around in my head.
So how does the Scrambler Mine affect drones? If I'm reading this correctly RAW means that almost any drone that I send into that field won't have its abilities hampered, with a few exceptions (Ghast Drone firing from within the jamming field considered as an illegal action?) But for instance the Hydra's Orochi drones aren't affected because they aren't taking actions/reactions, its just a stated rule that "If you start your turn or make a move next to one, you inflict a saving check."
Yeah, if it isnt a reaction most drones are completely unaffected
oh i see. interesting. so its possible that a future version of the repair drone system doesnt even use repair charges and instead that ability is maybe tweaked to target other drones only?

Theoretical build designed around being a tiny asshole to basically teleport around with prospector and then use Detonator/Beckoner to force people to trigger Jamming mines before sending in the Drone Cavalry to keep them there.
IN THEORY it should both fuck up NPC action economy as well as make the Jamming mines require more than one action to kill since they now have 10 HP thanks to the Hydra.
Uni-Comp should make for a really lethal (or well, what passes for lethal in the Hydra) Prospector-overcharge-full deployment-whatever action you want blitz.

Fair enough, although I would also say that zwei cost three points considering what you’re getting. It’s a pretty strong killer that even an ultra would be screaming for mercy as it tries to desperately get away from the man with the great sword.

ordnance for its alt profile is enough, ordnance melee otherwise is horrendous to play with

What like to think of this beast is almost like a dark souls boss, where it telegraphs it, tack ahead of time
otherwise split is actually 4 less damage than TCB and with 2 heat cost on top to pay for its bag of tags and crit effect
this remains the only pure ordnance melee I have ever think of putting anywhere and its an intergrated heavy
ordnance sheavy melee is going to feel extremely bad to play with since you are already devoting so much of your build to accomodate a sheavy, not getting to use it most turn feels really really bad

being sheavy with 2sp this thing is already consuming like 50% of your entire mech budget to support it
I know a lot of buddies of mine who would be salivating at the mouth to get up the sword, but I think it’s really the fact that I am in a Westmarch server where we can go up to LL 12 so buying that cost doesn’t seem to irrevocably bad
oh yeah i usually balance around ll6, ll12 is where rocket tag happens
That’s probably why the server that I’m a part of won’t allow it because it’s just too strong at later levels where the cost isn’t as substantial as it would be for someone someone at half of that

tbh TCB with the same build would still be outputing more damage than it against most normal, its just really good at getting through defense against a big chungus enemy due to the crit resist bypass

I've been playing a Frundsberg in a campaign and Zwei is good but I never felt it was overwhelmingly so. My friend was playing a combat drill Vlad and consistently outdamaging me even without the drill's damage bonuses. The Zwei is real flexible and accurate though and felt good to swing. Thor half damage, considering its 1/scene and 3 heat (so 5 minimum once you swing the Zwei) felt cool to do but always felt kinda wimpy on damage.
yeah im thinking tuning thor to focus on its actual niche of overwatch and reaction attacks with superheavy so i can tune it full damage and go in without having to fight the Asura in its own field of doing more attack per turn

The pseudo oc boost works triggers off no voluntary at all, even if you can’t do it anyway, so you can get it the turn after being immobilized/suffering brace penalty

The one issue with play testing things in the game I’m in is that both the GM and one of the players has an obsession with homebrew, so we’re currently rocking at least 6 player-facing LCPs.
Somehow I completely missed that on my first read through, because my current damage-avoiding strategy is either debuffing, overwhelming damage, or staying out of range. Which is why I’m in a Monarch.
As long as you dont cross the stream/hbrew it should be fine
The GM tends to cross the streams with NPCs, so we consider turnabout fair play.
Which doesn’t help me because I am in a completely base-game Monarch at this point.
So... Having played the Togo for a little while now, I have a few bits of feedback that comes straight from the table
The biggest one is that the mech is an absolute blast to pilot, and a dice junkies dream. Rolling and rerolling makes my inner goblin giggle
The Glaive is a very interesting weapon, with a few useful cases (that poor poor squad didn't stand a chance), but alot of questions about how it's range mechanic works. What happens when a size 2 eneny occupies range 3 and range 2?
The issues I've been running into have to do with speed of play mostly. Keep track of constantly changing heat can be tricky, and I use an abacus (yes, the og calculators) to keep track of changing heat

An issue I run into fairly consistently is consistency. Untill the Thresher, overkill is a total crapshoot
I use Leech Hunters Blade, Glaive, and a few combat knives, but don't trigger overkill as much as the frame wants to. it can lead to explosive 'on' turns about 25% of the time but mostly meh off turns
That said, a Meh off turn at LL2 can still be 6-8 heat and 10+ damage
🤔 i figured the integrated claw with its 1d3 double attack would be a good source of overkill until thresher
They are a solid option, the heat cost just tends to get high with base 5 cap
That said, I wouldn't change them
They are fantastic tools, if you can land that first swipe
I use them to drop good damage on targets, build heat to the HEW (High Energy Wiggles) zone and trigger overkill a bit more often
As for glaive ruling, word of tom terk is you get the extra damage if no part of the target is closer than threat 3
That's what we ruled it as in the moment, glad to see we are on the same wavelength

I suspect you are going to see marked increase in overkill trigger and consistency as you rank up because more grit means more crit, more crit means more dice, more dice means more overkill
That's the vibe I was getting, and more overkill means more HEW, and more magna Carapace

And makes NPCs very wary of getting in a slap fight with the molten chainsaw badger
I have a question about the Gorshkov's LL3 grapple abilities mostly because I'm struggling to see the value on it.
So I assume the basic principle is to use the Gorshkov's passive to force an enemy to fail the check, but the problem is, that same check only happens after the grapple, which is considered an attack, which according to the Gorshkov's wording, removes invisible, and in most cases (sans Infiltrator 3) hidden is removed as well with that attack. So now its just a straight up contested save like the Atlas' Final Clash but without the capability of rerolling the results like the Atlas.
On top of all this, you take 2 heat to even just try the checks.
Wouldn't it be more synergistic if it was something like:
"After a successful grapple, take 2 heat to declare that invisible and hidden are not lost until all relevant effects are performed..."
Im 95% sure losing hide when making attack is a simultaneous effect so you can order it so the hide lost is after the grapple
Same with the invisible, its removed after the attack
Takeover is also simultaneous w grapple so you can do grapple->takeover->lose hide
So you can jumpscare grab people from the shadow

I actually discovered an incredibly stupid tech with it, but you need a second really good overkill weapon and you need really competent Heat management skills to pull it off to the degree where it gets effective to do
My DM blessed me (unwisely, some may say) with the Reaper Assault Cannon exotic for my second Main mount
The tech relies on the realization I found through research that the ground counts as a viable attack target, and even though you cannot destroy a Size ??? target, you can roll damage against it
this means you can trigger Overkill on a Barrage against the ground
which means, through careful management, you can engage the Togo's ultimate potential as a racing mech and start doing Devil May Cry combos for RNG-based movement with Gun the Engine
I have a theoretical Barrage-based movement speed of like 30 spaces a turn, going higher if I fully send it and go for the Ramjet off the Nelson License and raise my Agility further
but the vital key to the plan involves hanging out exactly within one Heat of Danger Zone for the turns you wish to zoom on, so Thermoregulator, the Thresher, and as much overkill dice as possible are all your friend
We have decided ingame that my pilot is the first person to ever discover this new racing technique, which makes sense as he's literally an illegal mech racer doing Lancer missions for parole
It has already proven hilariously useful and more consistent than it should be, I've shut down entire firing lines of Scouts trying to Overwatch me with this

His customization on the Togo is "Fuck U(nion)" painted with scifi paint that only shows up on recording devices

Cynane looks good for a centimane build too which is very nice, its a talent that i feel never gets as much love due to nexus’ being an overlooked weapon class (even if there are some good ones already)
Mayhaps the repair cap should be bumped down to 2? It is a technologically advanced frame and it also seems to have a LOT going for it stat wise, only other thing below average on it is HP and only by 2 (with an armor to compensate anyway because HA)

One thing that I've noticed with the Togo, it gives a lot of love to its hacker buddies. It's incidental heat really adds up over time, and makes it easier for others to capitalize
Getting slapped for 4 heat (+1 heat from Claws x2, +2 Nuke Cav) on a skirmish from a non hacker mech, plus damage, it a bad spot to be in
Then the goblin cracks you in the side of the cockpit with another invade and LAoK

There isn’t really, implementing pilot gear just isn’t something you can attach to a license, so you have to put it in exotic gear and add it when you want it

For a mech to be linked there it both needs to have no official LCP form, needs to have had a linked google doc, and needs to not be in the official Terk Mech & Tech doc.

hmm i modeled indomitable after the WW's self immobilize thing, but i guess it being speed 6 (god damn) helps with responsiveness compared to the speed 3 of the big boy
I think it does partially depend on the mission type and team. We had a frundsburg for 2 missions in our game and he had 3 speed, but I was running a hacker build with Horos 1 and could move the guy into position well. We had a control point fight where it dominated
Puppet Systems doesn't work on Frundsberg. Or any unit with Heavy Frame (assuming the one using Puppet Systems is smaller)

Frundsberg being god king in control point mission is well known, but based on the feedback I can see thats its kinda too polarizing depending on situation, become god in control point but be slow and clunky if not, when the star align and you stack Forlorn Hope and Indomitable in a choke point it becomes completely unapproachable but if it can't then its kinda waddling around

While true, needing Hull for tanking, Engineering for heat management, Systems because SP starved, and also Agility for speed... something's gotta give, and that order exactly is how I prioritized it.

im wary of making bladeguard cost less actions (ie protocol) because it veers close to the "triple gets to use this with their spare mount for practically free" problem but ill rotate it in my mind a bit
"up to twice your speed" feels like it would make a pretty noticeable difference for sure

So, I saw the Frundsburg, and figured one way to do the whole HA heat management thing would be to Fusion Pike Duelist 3 Grapple on turn 1, and proceed to vent heat into the poor sod with Iron Hand while smacking it with the Zwei.
Then I figured, if I’m going to do damage with a protocol while I’m grappling, I might as well go all the way. While I’m here, I might as well grab the Blackbeard and Zheng and make a Blackbeard that just has a massively amplified death hug.
Pretty much what Noelle said, builds that grapple and are concerned with heat love the Iron Hand.
It ll still be there i just need to rotate it a bit so its more useful on its parent frame

tbh i was never happy with unblancing blow, even when first making it I was bending over backward to make it work
helps that I was already rotating pike and thor changes before this
iron hand at ll1 feels like a great spot for it
No more 1/scene on THOR, intense...
but it also lose the ability to do it on your turn
helps balance it out and reduce the dirrect comparision to Asura
i was having a toss up between ll1 and ll2 for IH but I decided ll2 is good, its at the same level at TSS2 and its ability is a bit stronger than before
and because Crashing Blow is niche in and by of itself that I only feel comfortable putting it at ll1
crashing blow is also slightly changed so you can use your weapon's threat instead of having to be adjacent
Hmm... that does all feel like great changes, yeah. Blade Guard feels real interesting, and I bet meme builds will be even more enabled by Crashing Blow as a system

A Witch NPC, who is Impaired, targets the Imp ally with Tear Down. It must make a contested Systems check to do this. It fails. The Specter I inserted to try and gank the solitary Dagon gets hit with 2 energy damage, as it's closest. The Witch rolls to attack on Tear Down, misses. The Specter gets hit again. The Witch tries to Predatory Logic the Raleigh and again fails the contested check. The Specter gets hit again. The Witch fails to Predatory Logic the Dagon. The Specter gets hit again. The Witch ends its turn, causing Impaired to fall off. The Dagon uses Forceful Insight to force it to roll a Systems save. It fails, is Impaired again, and the Specter is hit yet again.
The poor Specter has taken 10 energy damage and so has fucking died without a single roll being made against it, specifically

I can punish your heat games with NPC invades, but your heat cap is so low, that if I start having NPCs sling invades at you, you'll melt down in one turn with no counterplay, but if I don't, you'll mulch half the op-for in a single turn

So I used a spear bearer in a combat.
I think I made a mistake giving him acrobat, since that meant he didn’t have to rely on gotterdamerung, but other than that he was really scary. Players are mostly striker team so they had trouble doing anything to him. It was tier 3, so 20 explosive was enough to scare everyone, though not instantly structure anyone
Using it felt very fun for me. Not a ton of enemies get to play with height, so stalking players very high up was very fun
Players complained they had to spend too much effort to deal with it, since it’s only available in the space of time between when gotterdamerung activates and it gets its turn to fly away. Maybe a little bit of a set-piece enemy
Hmm i think removing reaction/engagement ignore from full cycle should let it be less free in term of skeedadle’ing

On the dagon, I assume the value of data lash drops off after a few LLs, as things get armor and what not. 1 point of armor is a pretty strong disruption to it
I realized a little anti-synergy for Hasta Pura. If you are jammed or you brace to throw the spear with Phalanx stance, you can't switch over to testudo stance, which is supposed to work while jammed and if you don't have the spear

its funny you mention that actually, only about 7 NPCs get armor on tier up, and of those 7, none cross over from 1 to 2 armor, and 3 of the 7 NPCs that gain armor are 3 armor at tier 1 so they cant be hurt by data lash to begin with

the most straight forward and intuitive way to build an Arthur is just a standard heavy melee mech with the ability to store actions on turns its not in melee to use them on turns its in melee so it can do massive burst damage, and good Nucav plattform because HA
its also a quite good Sheavy plattform due to the ability to Edge of Tomorow into next turn overcharge to barrage twice and double tap the Sheavy
but most of its traits, aside from intergrated weapon, is quite weapon agnostic so you can do artillery Arthur too, or go into Sysop if you want to lean into more support. Servo Overcharge also means its not penalized quite as heavily when using self immoblize and brace system because it can somewhat get those movement back the next turn

So did a build with it as an artillery mech using the siege cannon but also had some ll for melee and honestly a combined arms set up works great. Not as good as a focused build but the look on people's faces when the "Artillery" mech pulls a Giant plasma sword on you and splatters you is glorious.

I agree, but standardizing stuff like that across both homebrew and official content is a mess. I had the idea to make an RKF foundry and stick all the karrakin mechs under it. Since they're all alt frames it actually works... the problem is that you have to go in and edit all those differing LCPs. My more on topic point is that yeah, it would be a great emitter weapon, but then you're compelled to take another homebrew when you take tmnt. (Or you can do what you're probably thinking in the first place and just homerule it)

Typical instances of bonus damage state that it's either on successful hit or on crit and this one doesn't, a player in my game figured that reliable damage would inherit this +1 burn. It's a little squishy, but that's why we have Reactive Weave and spend most of the time hidden. Jager Kunst 1 for some potential crazy mobility (we love that for laying mines and getting to any high traffic areas), multi-gear is here mostly for fun and the tacticool feel. And surprisingly Prospector, because I didn't know that it deals 20AP to terrain that overlap the entrances created, seems very Saboteur-esque to blow up key walls and holdouts. Also handy for moving the team.

Realised you can pick up a utility Drone and run around with it so I had the idea of a combined arms striker that drops a Utility Drone on its head and rushes people. Pop stun crown so enemies have difficulty on the save, use point blank grenades and spear Charges, nexus' and centimane to do control effects too.
Could pick up levels in zheng to become a brawler with TSS3, especially picking up Superior by design to overcharge grapple then fucking kick them into a wall as a full action. Anything with saves is pretty great...

It looks like it wants to use thrown weapons, and support at least one ally that uses tech attacks in order to spam out it's core passive for extra damage, alternatively it might also want to tech attack in order to proc it as well?
I just drummed up this build for it, the gameplan is to on first turn, be invisible, and hit IFF Spoof, which procs the guided javelin, then Skirmish with the Shock Knives, Shock-Wreathing someone in the process (preferably someone who's got scary ranged attacks). After that, you're in danger zone, so you get Nuke Cav benefits, dip out and get behind cover,then start using Rail Accelerator instead of cloak in order to have crazy range on your thrown weapons, IFF Spoof, then throw the tomahawks and Hunter 3 with the shock knife that has shock wreath on it to blind someone again hopefully.
I picked Exemplar since I wasn't sure what else to take, and it works for allied tech attacks, so they can proc the guided javelin for you.

its basically a hybrid tech attacker skirmisher that wants to do tech and wants to do skirmish, there isn't a super concrete gameplan, you just get more out of those two while being stupid fast
or you can run like VG3 dsas and be almost uncatchable due to Bounce! after Overwatching someone that tries to run up to you
Painted Lady also has really good action economy. You can do an invade into 3 seperate aux weapon attacks with a single quick action

aight completed a combat with a spearbearer without acrobat this time, so more accurate
he was very fun to use, and felt like a good obstacle for the players to play around, and less of just a giant damage source. Then the Dusk Wing went and 1v1nd it and that was pretty awesome. Its more reactionary roll felt an interesting contrast to most other strikers since he has a very specific way to be played against
Probably not good to put multiple in a single combat, I felt like its better to have a single stronger one. If there were 3 in a single combat it might feel a little weird

It’s a bit weird, feels almost more like a stage hazard. I’m not sure it has enough survivability currently to really be a centerpiece of a whole fight. Its ability to fly does make it hard for strikers to take it down, not helped in my game by using real distance for height and not the cylinders that you are supposed to use. But an artillery frame could probably deal with it without too much problem. Vengeance isn’t a strong enough retaliation method to deal with that, since a artillery mech will likely be able to get to hard cover easily
I’m not sure it works well enough as a centerpiece. The aforementioned lack of survivability against artillery and the ability to basically fully negate it through smart movement makes me think its not meant to be the boss of an encounter, but an annoying zone controller that forces the players to not be as aggressive as they would normally

To follow up on the spearbearer feedback as a player: I think it did its entire job. Definitely felt like an environmental effect, and it added to the combat it was in quite well. For context, we were fighting a unholy lurker/hive combo and it took up most of our attention. Having a hard to hit/interact with spec ops spearbearer forcing us to move not just around the boss, but Dr. Gotdammerung felt real good, but it also doesnt feel like we really saw what it would look like in more general sitreps given that it was a boss fight.

i think it works perfectly fine on other frames that like melee, with executioner 2 you have many opportunities to crit with a barrage using the clarent and the first LL gives you autonomous edge alignment (high reliable potential) and ultracharger which just helps with all of that even more

The only problem I see is that the GM might decide that Sekhmet should try to throw the weapons at the drone if it's in throwing range... but then again that means there is no hostile within 5 spaces of me which seems like..m why would you engage Sekhmet at this point.

Asura class and Redundant Systems Upgrade for stabilizing to keep the fight going and to clear heat and to just get more actions.
Sysop because bolster lets me move, and the core power lets me bolster for free as well.
Asura might be a bit weaker here (unfathomable) due to having just the TCB or the Xcalibur as SHeavy means you cant abuse the Asura Barrage + Skirmish + OC Skirmish turn 😔

I would personally go into either Toku for exbatt and deepwell, brudenell for breach shield and rocket, or go into Sunzi for Accelerate or Subutai for Reactor Overcrank (bolster synnergy) and Conqueror Path for more set up mobility, because the Arthur is still a speed 3 melee frame
Nelson is also good if you want to slap Thermal Charge on the TCB, or go deep into Saladin for Paracausal, with the niche side effect that the Arthur can use the Saladin shield system well due to being able to Servo Overcharge after the round when its Immobilized which Saladin shield tends to do

Edge of tomorow makes it so you can barrage once as a quick action after spending a quick action to set it up. Overcharge grants a quick action. Ergo after charging Edge, you can OC to Barrage and then normal Barrage in one turn
Its why its core power is set up to last until end of turn and not like “once”, if you set up edge and OC you can swing Xcalibur twice in one turn

Basically:
- Round 1: Use Edge of Tomorrow + some other quick action (likely bolster), or, if necessary to clear Heat, Overcharge to use Edge of Tomorrow and Stabilise. Also free action Boost if last round Tlaloc was activated if needed
- Round 2: Activate Tlaloc, overcharge to Barrage with Edge of Tomorrow, then regular Barrage to fire 6 missiles with a bunch of accuracy, each that can be rerolled. (don't worry, Heatfall Coolant System got you)
- Rinse, repeat
- Activate X-Caliber if anyone gets into melee range with Executioner I.
- Sysop is there because might as well support your allies on your off/melee turn.
- Brutal III is there simply to stack more accuracy with Tlaloc.
We might be stacking too many accuracy die to make them actually useful but also consider: it is fun to stack dice

Also, with Terk’s rework to let the Frundsberg book it with consecutive Boosts, it’s a relatively mobile Artillery piece.

But still, the idea is less "artillery Frundsberg" and more "single-piece pike and shot". This also pairs really well with the Saladin's area shield.

Incisor feels like you have replaced your heavy with a core power. You kinda don't have a Heavy weapon, you have a funny Bifurcate that does not chain.
It's weird to think about because on the other hand, some heavy weapons can very easily double-donk multi-structure targets, for more than 1 struct, which is something the incisor is fully incapable of by design.

All the Ronin Reflect would do would be to potentially damage you, since Resistance doesn’t stop 1 Structure.

Looking at capacitor bolt and we have some questions - Can you target an ally with capacitor bolt's initial thing? It seems RaW you can bypass the agility save by targeting an ally to get all adjacent enemies to fall over and take 3 heat @covert surge

Manticore does have good invades, but the Mordred isn't really as resilient to self damage as Manticore.
yeah manticore is Scary for mordred
while it has 3 armor, it only has 6 base HP and the manticore hacks do AP damage
also beckoner is not so good with a sensor range of 5
smite could work well but its the only thing in the manticore license until maybe LL3 that works for the mordred, i dont think mordred particularly cares about catalyst pistols or the arc projector
