I get that they exist because it used to be "welp, I'm out of the fight, I'm gonna go pee and grab another bag of pretzels, anybody need anything?" and that's not ideal, but "you're out of the fight, but you have to stay at the table and make saves to see if you die so you can't step away to pee or grab pretzels", like, isn't better

My personal solution was a "critical"/death's door condition that makes it so if you're at 0hp you stay up but have to roll a save each time you take damage. if you fail it, then you die. but it eliminates OHKOs and the "ok im not playing the game anymore" problem

OHKOs are another extremely obnoxious thing to have happen to you
