Y'all i had a dream about igf last night. This hasn't happened for a bit but i remember it vividly

Keep in mind I'm only in chapter 3 so if any of this happens i predicted the future, but basically something bad happened on hells gate but luckily most of the major NPCs were fine. Serenity has been struggling internally with wanting to leave Hell's gate for some time and furnace city has only made that feeling worse

Something happened to their Ren and the whole 'house' burned down, only leaving a book describing the beautiful landscapes of the Neo Teutonic Union in its native language (german lmao), a book she used to read a ton when she was young.

This sent her into a major spiral and for weeks was borderline catatonic. She hid in her favorite spot nearly every day at the top of Hell's gate and Calamity found her there. She knows that Serenity likes to hide up there. When she returned the plants she kept in her apartment were wilted and mostly dead, but Calamity kept hers alive. They decided to move to Furnace city once she stabilized, and the specifics i don't remember but i remember they were happy :3

ANYWAY most of the time players reach for PaaC is when they need something but have no other way of getting it:

• Your team got fucked right up and you know you've got another fight or two before the next full repair
• Your team has no AP or shredding and too many aux weapons. And the enemy forces keep throwing bastions at you.
• your whole team spec'd melee and there's a sniper ahead

The most typical use of PaaC is to get things that would work as typical reserves: some extra repair cap, a weapon from a license you don't have (or an exotic), reinforcements. You can also get things like a heads up on what the next fight will involve, the ability to reposition your team after the fight starts, pre-knowledge of the true CZ in a recon sitrep. Anything goes, but what you ask for tends to justify the cost. Ask for a full repair if you wish! Just know that it's going to cost you.

The costs depend on what you're asking for and what the situation is. A few extra repair cap might just take some time to salvage (during which relevant clocks might tick up, or the enemy might dig in up ahead, or you'll lose an opportunity, depending on the situation). The cost can (and in my opinion SHOULD BE) narrative: You need more range so you want to PaaC for a DMR? Well, conveniently there's one right here in this box. The true owner's gonna be pissed though... and she's got a job for you to make it up to her. If there's multiple factions int he setting, they can play off each other for the cost too. Would you take some support from an enemy faction to use against another, knowing that the first faction gets something out of it? Would you do something for them just to get some help in the current job?

||In act 2 and possibly act 3, there are various small effects for characters with many AS ticks. These are noted by the phrase "can you see the doors". Mostly it's visions of alternate timelines, often cut content! Things that could have been. Astral Stigmata is not the ability to see through time, but to see through the metannarrative. I don't recommend ticking AS for placers seeing paracausal things or doing timeline shenanigans. It's higher order than that. PCs should get Astral Stigmata for acknowledging they're in a game, and eve then only if it's particularly potent or egrigious. Rememebr they only have 6 ticks. ||

||There's no canon effect for maxing it. Not yet, possibly not ever. One remark that Vex dropped kinda gives an idea though: if a PC has a maxed out Astral Stigmata, then the Player gains astral stigmata. What THAT means is either absolutely nothing or absolutely terrifying depending on how much you enjoy / buy into the weird metafiction of it all. Off of that idea though, I have a few extrapolations:||

• ||Players who are in more than one game of IGF experience the same Astral Stigmata ticks between characters. If they had one tick in game 1, their PC in game B has one tick. If they gain a second tick in game B, their character in Game A gets one.||
• ||Every GM has max Astral Stigmata. At least if they run through the Crone, they do. Just reading the whole book should count. Calamity's player ran a game and some of his questions earned him a second tick, but his game never got to the Crone before hitting indefinite hiatus, so Calamity still only has 3 (she got a second from the second meeting with the crone)||
• ||If a player gains astral stigmata, they get to read the book. This idea gives GMs a good incentive to hold back on ticking that clock||

All of us had run the Crone before (or wrote her in the first place), so every time one of us asked a question, Cruye would pick another player and give them the answer to read as the Crone. Then we'd get a question to ask that player back. Cruye herself did one or two of them. We maxed out the clock, of course. We all knew how it worked. After 11 questions though we were running dry. I had one last one, and made sure nobody else was gonna use it. "We all know what's really happening here, and we know you know, so lets set aside the artifice. We know where this story goes and how it ends... are you... okay with that? Coming back for game after game and going through this again, knowing where it ends? Are you okay with the way you're used in all of this?"||

||you started the campaign saying that frogs character found a golden feather, you mentioned a day later the "frogs character will be the main character" (idea that i dislike cuz everyone in a campaign must the be protagonist, but i understand it was an exaggeration). later you figured that the person reverie was sent to look after is only named "ember", and you use femenine pronouns for her. then i gave you the idea of reverie adquiring an AI for her mech (thanks titanfall) but that later its revealed that it was an NHP pretending (or another idea), and you acted like something really bad or deep lore was going to happen just by that, when the idea i gave was only of a cutesy friendship. lastly, you always react weirdly when i send my character naana in this chat, in golden flame, a character that in paper is a seraph design to annihilate entire solar systems from the other side of the galaxy (that later ascends to divinity after being fred), no you didnt know that lore but let me cook. AND LASTLY again you asked some times to the air "oh i wonder who will be the feathered/plumed of golden flame". i think that the plumed in golden flame is an angel/god, and seeing that RA exists, golden flame is fake god, an NHP, that might need of spokepersons and/or a following to achieve a goal. idk thats what icooked in my head, idk what they/it/she would want. RA just wants to be left alone, so i guess golden flame might be contrary to that, maybe violence or reshaping something at a great scale.||

If it weren’t for a group of Asphodelian scavengers, the story of Lucy would have been quite short. Found in a life-support pod during a scavenging run, the locals that found him couldn't leave her to die. When they discovered she was also born premature, they decided it was best to leave it in the hands of professionals. And so, they waited in a hospital room like his life depended on it, and even called back to the settlement about the situation. However, the list of problems and obstacles kept growing more and more. No way they could cover this, but an answer to their prayers arrived. These scavengers had all sorts of bodymods: to help resist the environment of Asphodel, and the provider of such mods heard the news of that little pod they found. Offered to cover all medical expenses… at a steep cost: test an aggressive bodymod on her. At first they refused, but as time passed, the other alternatives began to falter, and eventually accepted. He eventually was “Born” healthy, as the bodymods already began to show from early stages: smaller body, long ears, short fur, legs that could jump for hours. She reminded them of a small rodent that somehow thrived in the Asphodelian environment.

The baby was saved, the scavengers became his “parents”, naming her Lucero Mijares, since their community’s name was the Mijares’ Oasis. Lucy became a sort of “communal child”, not really belonging to any household, but always helping whoever needed a hand at the moment: sure, he had a roof at the scavenger’s quarters, but everyone opened their doors for her. When it was time for a scavenging run, she was really on the front, mostly thanks to the bodymod that not only allowed him more mobility, but also the chance to be without a hazard suit for a prolonged period. Fearless and determined to help her community, until accidents happened. Sure, she may have found an intact air filter that could cover most of the Oasis, but it cost her a leg and an arm, literally.

But takes more to bring his spirit down. Recovery took a while, but when she felt confident, she went back to helping the Oasis, but this time, putting his talents on quick-fixes, vehicle engineering, and most important, piloting! Even with their foster parents being reluctant about it: Nahuel really tried to convince her to focus on her recovery, but his desire for keeping safe and sound those who surrounded him certainly was a good motivation, so good in fact, she quickly outclassed the previous pilot “Clay”. As time went on, the community began to face harsher times, just in time for the announcements of the Hell’s gate militia recruitment. Some suggested Lucy to join, but she rejected at first: “Last thing I want to do is leave you!” but as he soon acknowledged the situation, and that she could help her community by joining, she eventually decided to take her chances… and sign up as a Frenchie, but most importantly, a reserve pilot.

When he arrived at Hell's Gate… everyone could tell she had never been outside of the planet. Everyone wondered why he was so amused to see the stars, or the low gravity areas, needless to say watching the hydroponics farms blew her mind as well. She fit well in the station nevertheless, but they had to constantly remind her about the printer: he didn't need to jury-rig every fix he made! She also began to engage in the Hell's Gate League, first repairing… then fighting! But never forgot the real reason why she was here.

And when Jerry decided to recruit for the SRT… Lucy's name figured on the list.
