your GM doesn't need to balance what your fellow players want alongside what you want, which leads to (a) a lot less time out of character deciding what the party wants and checking the other players are cool with it and (b) invariably a more collaborative and intimate GM-Player dynamic. Because fundamentally, as long as both of you are cool with an idea, it's on the table even if it would be something that would otherwise need negotiation with other players. Your GM also has a greater incentive to ask you what you personally want out of the campaign because your satisfaction is the only thing that matters (aside from their own satisfaction).

It makes the entire experience a bit more fluid and equal between the two of you. There's still a clear difference between player and GM obviously but you've got so much more agency compared to sharing that agency with other players.

and complex strategy is so much easier to plan out when you're the only player (especially if you're controlling your character + their allies).

combat rounds can blitz past very quickly in true 1-1s and coordinating strategies with other characters (that you are also controlling) is trival in a way that makes deeper strategic decisionmaking a lot more natural when you've got multiple characters at your disposal in a fight.

I can give actual examples from my 1-1 game if you like but those are the general principles

I really like the dynamic of narratively only needing to worry about my main guy but then being able to control npc allies in battle specifically. (also because you're controlling them you have to know their statblocks, making interparty strategy easier).

My GM in particular had a setup where I'd always be controlling my main guy (or gal, technically) but had a cast of npc allies who I could choose from (affected by location and particular quest type etc) to join me on each quest.

Oh no, mine isn't bipedal as is, she stands like a moth would with 6/4 legs. She just trained to be able to stand bipedal like a human (2 legs) for infiltration missions. It's kinda uncomfortable for her which is why she kinda prefers to be inside a mech rather than walking
