And someone said cascading NHPs as villains should be treated as a tragic horror, that's another thing that makes IGF work so well. We've talked about that subject at-length in our act 2 planning meetings, and theres points where you can see that philosophy throughout the campaign.

I don't want to spoil things by calling out a specific chapter so I leave this spoiler at "if you know you know" for certain things in the first act: ||CAUSTIC and TRIPLEPOINT in particular. When the book first came out there wasn't a path to peacefully resolve the situation; you had to fight CAUSTIC and kill TRIPLEPOINT. Okay... no, let me rephrase. The book's only path was that, there''s always room for GMs and players to get around it. But even with that as the path the narrative is pretty clear about the tragedy. CAUSTIC is framed as a victim taking care of it's abuser who is suffering from a sort of advanced dementia. || (quick wallflower spoiler:)|| Not the unknowable cosmic horror with a face of a mindless machine horde in WF.|| (Back to the previous IGF spoilers) ||And even with the narrative already treating TRIPLEPOINT and CAUSTIC in a manner that feels so much better, Vex still went back and patched the book to add a canonical system for talking them down, for CAUSTIC to take TRIPLEPOINT and leave peacefully.||

This one above is a part of that; the game has a really good heart and is written with a sense of empathy and love? that really makes it resonate with me. The politics are based. And from that philosophical core you add brilliant NPCs, a fully realized star system, a grand epic plot, and a sprinkling of homestuck references? How could you not see it as a masterwork?
