IGF combat are a bit better paced too. They follow a flow of combats into narrative back to combat into narrative. With some moments being back to back combat but those are an exception.

We meet every other week, and missed a few sessions (which is double rough on that schedule, a whole month without lancer!) so it was about two years to finish. Took a good six months of hiatus and now we're back on act 2.

Calamity started another relationship right at the end of ch5 but you need the whole damn story of my game up through ch5 to hear about that. Kraken and Loki started dating right at the last moments of ch5. Gabriel and Stoneleigh's mutually "unrequited" crush started in ch4 for her and ch5 for gabriel, but they still haven't actually acted on it.

CH5: ||So The final combat starts, and Calamity is gone. She dove into the fire gate before anybody could do anything. The team is outnumbered and outgunned, on top of losing Calamity I also put them against the 5 PC enemy list. They have an allied Veteran Cataphract, Stomp, Calamity's one friend from the Hell Hounds (now with the Knights of the Dark Core). This team's smart though, they nuke the four grunt engineers before they can get any turrets out. Capella is laughing about Calamity committing suicide when she saw him coming. Gabriel tries to do what he's done every single time they've seen a Priest so far and immediately wipe them off the map... but Ignatius survives. Finally they can see what a priest can do. Pear and Kraken both take some opening shots but also scan Capella and the Fire Gate to learn the mechanics of the fight. They're convinced Calamity will come back, but they can't destroy the gate until she does.||

(ch5)||Every allied character takes a turn, but there's one more. We switched perspective to Calamity. Her mech bathed in flames. Harmony just saying one word: "Whoa". The mech suddenly being stripped away, disassembling around Calamity, followed by her hardsuit and her clothing. Her flesh, her bones. Everything she is blasted away by pure golden flames, leaving only her essence. She feels it all without any pain. The flames are all she can perceive, until Feather turns to her. She doesn't speak in words, but in raw feeling and intent, the meaning being blasted into whatever counts as her mind in this place. Feather greets her as her "champion" and asks what she desires.||

(ch5)||A second round in the combat, the team is clearing out all the minor enemies to try and take over the action economy. Some of the engi grunts came back out of the fire gate and the team got really nervous. Not over the grunts, those they took out immediately, but because they realize they can't win this fight without taking down the gate, and if they destroy the gate, they might never get Calamity back...||

(ch5)||In Golden Flames, Calamity faces Feather. She understands that Feather considered her to be Feather's Champion, and she wants to give calamity a boon "for services rendered". Now... What does she desire? Calamity doesn't get a chance to speak it. She knows what she wants and feather pulls it from her mind. Aveline, her love. Feather asks her to tell Aveline's story. Calamity recounts their whole love affair, her exile, even the details she got from Ignatius; how Aveline came running after her, and in despair joined the faith. How she was sent to Boltzmann, and how she died there in Calamity's arms. Suddenly the world goes dark, and Calamity's eyes (now returned) have to adjust. She's in the mines of Boltzmann, and Aveline is there. She's barely conscious, her feet encased in crystal that has yet to climb up her suit. Yet to penetrate her lungs, they way they were when Calamity last saw her. Cal reaches out to touch her, and the world warps around her.||

(ch5)||Calamity's mech comes out of the Fire Gate, and she joins the initiative tracker. She's impaired. After all, she doesn't' have an expanded compartment and her cockpit is quite crowded with two people.||

(ch5)||Capella hard-focused her with everything he had, while Calamity let Harmony activate SEHKMET Protocol and go wild. Don't have to worry about pilot impaired when an NHP takes control. Kraken got stressed and rolled a 1 on a cascade check. They shutdown to avoid trouble there. Gabriel got structured and rolled a 1 on a cascade check, so Stoneleigh went into cascade. He didn't want to risk having two shutdowns on the field next to each other, so he let her go, and he broke a rib as she started moving faster than the pilot could endure. Kraken got out of shutdown only to get structured and roll a 1 on a cascade check.|| That's three cascade checks in a row, and three 1s rolled. In a row. We hadn't had a single cascade in the campaign until then, the final fight of act1. ||They let CAUSTIC go loose, and it attacked Capella... and Calamity too with iconoclast enhanced lighting versions of the TRIPLED POINT nexus. Capella as the "servant of the false god" and Calamity as "the devil incarnate, the slayer of god"||

(ch5)||Calamity's mech didn't survive being the sole target of an ultra pyro. She pulled Aveline from the wreckage and worked open some deckplating to get cover under the floor of the chamber till the fight was over. With calamity out of the gate, the team focused down the pillars and then their enemies. Capella they kept at 1/4 structure until they took out the gate, Ignatius they destroyed twice.||

She was the one to go to the Tachyon and fight the SRT (in that simulation, the original team from the campaign that inspired the book). She|| died ||in flames there, and the simulation ended.|| Well. That ||timeline|| didn't just end there. ||Calamity was chosen as feather's champion, the Queen of Hell resurrected by the fire gate on Fort Cerberus. And she made a deal with Feather to get Aveline back. Now some USURPER, some|| INFERIOR CALAMITY ||from another timeline has STOLEN HER BOON.||

This will have no immediate effects on the game. But (act2) ||I'll be looking for opportunities such as the HA Timewave to use this. Calamity getting a vision of another her, ||enraged. ||Maybe even more than a vision, queen calamity getting her hands on PC calamity and ||choking|| her for a moment before the window passes and she disappears. Trying to get revenge on her for stealing|| her love. And then, in act 3 I hope to have the concept of ||Queen Calamity|| well established so that at the end of the campaign (ACT 3 SPOILERS!!!!)||There's a scene with an infinite tide of rising angels (every SRT from every timeline, yes, including all of yours) fighting against a falling storm of infinite demons (Every Andros Capella... plus one Calamity Havok, Queen of Hell.) And that Calamity is going to look around and see that she's on the side of Andros Capella... and against her is herself. Yes, the her that took Aveline, but... also the her that loves Aveline, that's standing by her side facing her. And queen Calamity finally gets a chance at redemption, turning on The Capellas and fighting back. ||(ACT 3 SPOILERS!!!!)
