CH4 ||The Crypt of Stars. I dragged this section out as far as I could without making it monotonous. I tried to make sure to show and name-drop every single character the PCs had ever met in the course of the campaign and their backstories, and I included every character I could think of that might show up in the future, from Act 2 NPCs to characters I was thinking of including. I even gave myself some things to work with in the future, showing characters that I had no plans for at the time but could reveal later. I included a cousin of Gabriel's, not sure what I'd do with him. I gave many of the characters more of a description than just a name drop. throughout their trip through the Crypt I took the time to really lay it on thick how long their journey took. Everything was an eternity. Ages passed. A massive ship on the horizon would slowly, inevitably became a passing wreck and disappear behind them. I took special care to hit the people they cared about the most. Pear saw the body of Evan, near the Thief. Seeing his partner again was rough, but this forced him to confront the body of the man he couldn't kill. Then a moment later he saw the body of Rat, his current boyfriend, and that broke him. They saw their families, people they haven't seen in decades. They saw so many broken and shattered caskets, and they couldn't tell which ones might belong to who. The only people I left out were people who were there on Boltzmann, and Calamity held on hard to the fact that she didn't see Aveline among the dead, even though she was terrified she would find her around the next broken mech. Gabriel saw his family and his cousin and felt some of those whispers from before crawl into his skin. Kraken insulated themselves by denying the reality. "This is dumb, we were on an asteroid in the inner belt. Why are we on a moon near Chameleon? That doesn't work. None of this is real. It's too stupid"||

CH4 cont ||There is one person who was missing, though, that the players didn't notice. I'm not surprised, given how many there were. The PCs themselves and their NHPs, sure. Siren, yes. Annabelle McKenzie / Aveline, yes. But there was one more they didn't realize till later: S1GN4L. My players didn't pay attention to what happened to that Mirage they capped on the sensor platform back in chapter 1. They were more focused on the objective; getting the data and getting out of there. S1GN4L survived. Knowing that Capella wouldn't believe that he didn't just give Hell's Gate the information, they took off and his with some friends. Unfortunately for them, the friends they chose to lay low with... were with the Circuit.||

CH4 ||They found a door (can you see it?) standing in the middle of nowhere, far from any of the bodies. As they approached it was obviously an open archway, large enough for their mechs to use. There's nothing behind it, not even the back of the pillars or arch, and through it is only a pure void. The team was unsure if it was a good idea to go forward but unwilling to stay here. Through that, they get the one last vision and the Second Question.||

CH4 || The team dropped into Hell's Gate, the day the SRT was formed, and I ended the session there. Next time: VORSHUNGSMOTOR (which was an entire 4 hour session alone)||

carabiner doesn't necessarily mean top. It started as a butch lesbian thing, then kind of generified into a general lesbian signifier. There's a sort of nod to the old hanky codes where some claim that clipping it on your left means your a bottom and right for top, but you can't really rely on that to be what a given woman means. It gives good inspiration for what living in Calliope could be like actively living there as is incredibly abstract. I live in a large city with shop chains, sunlight that doesnt atomise me and working plumbing. I'd have no clue what living on a station with 2 million permenant residents, what do those 1.5 million intermittent residents do?

The concept some jobs just dont have gravity is super simple and makes sense but the concept just escapes my mind

It also has very good settlement exploration thats basically is, you get to a space station... you dont know what the fuck is there and just have to spend time investigating to do more tasks, more rolls and fill clocks. Then that unlocks new areas of the station which are either new jobs to partake in, shops or NPCs

It'd be really neat to hack into lancer and I'll hopefully do that at some point

Like chapter 3 IGF ||it would be amazing and cool to do that for Furnace city. I have gripes with the balance of mission 3 and main part is the setup is too powerful. Going something like, "welcome to furnace city... you know nothing about this place, you have 3 days... go" would be pretty fucking cool||

||you can only call in one favour from outside, then everything else you're on your own. Make it well known enough and Caanan Zhou meets you. Then do extra jobs for clip, around the burning forge bar, work doing cleaning jobs at ratios place, etc||

But yeah, that would be a very cool prep/exploration phase for that mission. Get to know everyone and what you're fighting for

The sunzi is smaller, but I think the tortuga actualyl has more hip/leg flexibility. Sure, she's built up but that's working bulk, like a vollyball player. She's a CQB mech, she needs maneuverability and range of motion. Sunzi only is one higher speed (at 1/2 speed) and has Slip to blink around. Don't get me wrong, Sunzi is a qtπ but it's a nerdy sort of cute. Tortuga is fit.

The first night I had a HG dream, I was assigned typical maintenance work on various machines. Get the ticket, grab the toolbox, navigate spin/antispin aft/fore up/down , tune a thing up or fix it. Except when I got my assignment for the day the other techs started whispering and giggling behind my back. I asked one of them what was up and she said that 4-charlie-7 was haunted. Or that's the rumor, she said it's just an older section of one of the hab rings. Nobody really lives there, the lights are mostly shot but there's some vital equipment still running so none of the techs like to go there and this stupid rumor got going.

So I grab my tools and head out. Sure enough, it's exactly the sort of accessway you'd think was haunted. Cramped, only 25% lit or so, and there's still some water dripping from the leak on 5-Bravo a few days ago. But I've got a headlamp and a job to do so on with it. I get to the first item on the worksheet, and in true dreamlogic I have no idea how that worked. Door open, and something happened, I close the hatch and move on. I guess I did the job. Keeping on, hours pass or something. Dreams, who knows. The isolation and darkness and harsh shadows are getting to me, I think I see motion in the distance occasionally but I tell myself it's just my brain being tricky.

Keep moving on, get to a machine of some sort that's reporting an error code that has no meaning. Error: Problem. Love that. I open the cabinet and it's immediately obvious that a part is just straight up missing. I swear I hear a voice behind me, something whispered and breathy and I can't make out the words but I fuckin JUMP. Spin around, wave my light, and there's nobody there. Calm down, turn back, and Oh! There's that component, the retaining pin must have snapped. Put it back in place and slap a new pin in and I'm good to move on. I get a few meters down the hall when I hear a long squeak of the cabinet door swinging open. I know I secured that correctly. I go back and snap it shut and this time I hear a giggle, right in my ear, and I wake up.

Which, on waking, I kind of immediately figured out what that was. I've been prepping for my game a lot, and I started getting into Phasmophobia again. So I decided the right thing to do was to go play some Awaria.

The second HG Dream, a core automation system was down and I had to code my way around it. No idea why Shelly or another NHP could help, but it was on me. Like the actual steps weren't so bad but with the system down it meant sending hundreds of thousands of the same command with one parameter changed. So I took the data set and wrote a script to just output the commands, then piped that straight to the OS and let it churn. Then I got an email about a vital tool install and oh my god this is my job I'm dreaming about work this is Hell I woke up.

THIRD HG dream.
I was on lunch break. Don't know what job I was on today, but it's lunchtime so don't worry about it. I have a super stereotypical red metal lunchbox, like the type you'd expect from a 1930's construction worker on the 108th floro of a skyscraper sitting on a girder. I went to a part of the manufacturing section to eat, floating into zero G in a large room witha few other people. Someone's got a little portable speaker thing playing some music. I have no idea what it was, dreamland memories are inconsistent like that. I have a sandwitch and some fruit slices and a juice box and it's just... nice. Sandwich in zero G is a challenge but I try to stay clean, and I can play with the juice, squirting a blob into the air and sucking it down. I just kinda vibe with the music and company and enjoy my food, then it's back to work. I pass througha transistion hub to the spin gravity, and I got that "falling in dreams" feeling that woke me up.

Fail the engineering save get jammed and teleport back to my front liners who are drooling to finish the meal I just made them.

CH4 || So, VORSHUNGSMOTOR. We all know it. The players are supposed to end up on Hell's gate, the day Jerry formed the SRT, and it's wrong and it repeats over and over until the players break out, either by forcing things to happen as they should, or breaking the events so far the simulation collapses. Yeah.||

CH4 ||My players got exactly that experience at first, but with one very important difference. Rather than maintaining their perspectives and memories, their very minds melded into the scenario. I narrated their knowledge of how this was supposed to go fading away. Their memories of the last few months as a team disappearing and their memories of this day turning into vague unease and eventually nothing. The only one who still objected when Jerry read a list of names that weren't theres was Kraken, on the grounds that Kraken is the best so obviously Jerry is making a mistake. BTW the names I ready were the PC's in Cruye's game, not that my players knew that till later. My PCs left the hall separately. They weren't really friends, after all. They walked out the door, and the simulation reset||

CH4 || What I ended up doing next was a series of vignettes exploring who the PCs are in various timelines. The PCs didn't remember themselves as SRT members, but had all the memories of whatever timeline that is. It requires a lot of very nimble roleplay and everybody locked right the fuck in. I organized my scenes into five "levels", grouped on common themes and giving each PC a scene in each level. That's a hell of a lot of things to write up, luckily I already did it so you're all getting screenshots.|| So... so many screenshots...

CH4 || Level 2, lets get meta. Lets get MORE meta. Calamity's scene in particular is the most meta thing I've ever done in a game, even beating the Rifle. Side story there: The remix game was runnign at the time of the kickstarter and I paid at the tier that let me add equipment to the book. So I added the Ballistaria Rifle so that Rose could use it in the game, editing the book in my GMs hands to get and edge. The most metagaming I had ever done, and yet, I've topped it here. ||

CH4 ||Level 3, and I realized Kraken's scene involves Act 2 spoilers! So that's redacted, and a separate spoiler will get posted next, but here's a sanitized version of events because there's some very important things in there:||

CH4 ||Kraken's scene takes place somewhere that's relevant in Act 2, a place that (for reasons I can't say) would be very difficult for TRIPLEPOINT to simulate. I also brought in a character that we scrapped from Act 2 development, GIGACRAB. We had an idea for a cybernetically enhanced size 2 Vent Crab and even designed a fight around it's bodyguards, but that's all on the cutting room floor. Kraken got to meet the GIGACRAB who understood that it was in a simulation and pushed Kraken in a direction that might help them get free and help their friends. The plan was for Kraken to have a tiny scrap of a hint that this place even exists, and for the simulation to break on it's own before they get very far. Except. Vex (who already featured in some scenes and normally hangs out during my game) excitedly DM'd me asking "Ooh ooh, can I?" I had no idea what she wanted to do but I immediately said yes, and she took the role of a character in Act 2, adding way more to the scene than I anticipated. This was scary but also I fucking loved it. My plans were for the simulation to break and leave Kraken left alone in a dark void. There would be only one thing other than themselves visible there; a picture in a frame a few yards away...||

Act 2 spoilers!!
||Here's the redacted portion of Kraken's Scene. Ever since this I've had to contend with the fact that Kraken knows Mind exists. Luckily Kraken is careful and isnt' going ot tell anybody, but it's still a bit harrowing and fun. They have plenty of ties to SSC already, so this almost forces Kraken into wanting that arc before anything else. ||

CH4 spoilers ||Kraken didn''t get a scene in level 4. Pear got two. Gabriel has a scene in-between Pear's, but it's kinda heavily dependent on act 2 stuff so it'll be posted separately.||

||As mentioned before, I have recordings of every session. I clipped the moment from chapter 2 where we played out Pear's backstory with Evan and Kiwi as a bunch of sound effects and kept playing them to start of Pear's horrifying nightmares here.||

||Now that they all had themselves back, I ran Vorshungsmotor correctly. The players were tired. I was tired. The PCs were tired. But I wasn't going to stop these loops until they met the conditions: make it right, or break it entirely. Calamity figured it out immediately. So did Gabriel.||
