So during mission 2, Léo (who has up to this point not killed anyone yet, not even arguably) caused a specific enemy to go into meltdown. Usually that's fine, they tend to value their life and eject before going kaboom. However this time it was different, they didn't eject and went for a kamikaze dive essentially.
So Léo's sitting there after the encounter is over, both flabbergasted that they would decide to "go down with the ship" as it were, but also processing the fact that he pulled a trigger and someone directly died because of it.
He took it pretty badly, he went to an SSC clinic, begged Quil for financial help (which, at the time he barely "knew", to him he was still essentially just the karrakin guy with money that you probably don't want to owe favors to) so he could get a player_2 neural bypass so that he could let his NHP buddy take control of his body and log off of reality for a while (which turned out to be most of the rest of the mission)
