Which feels like kind of the worst way to balance a durability increase? I don't have any evidence that's what they did but that's the vibes the mech gives me. It all has the impression that the devs thought it was tankier than it actually is.

I'd rather dock a point of heatcap or edef or whatever, in exchange for a mech that's a bit physically tankier and hence plays more into the advertised role, if you get me.

Our team has a dedicated hacker, a dedicated melee bruiser, and a dedicated mid close range shooter, and so I was like, we don't really have someone to fill those other roles so I'd do the guy who'd be the guy we need in various situation, cause that was very much Gabriel's whole vibe

Never regretted that decision, it's been a lot of fun.

Yeah, that is a mistake a lot of people make with House Guard. Level 1 does not increase the hard cover area.

don't get me wrong, HG2 is very good, I just don't see any particular synergy with mechs that innately have the guardian trait (although size 2 definitely helps) - if anything HG2 is more impactful on mechs that don't have guardian. I generally only really take it when I also have stuff which cares about HG1 or 3 a lot.

Unless someone else's running full mobility support in which case I may as well be the widest thing on the battlefield, Sunzi will get me there with speed 3 or speed 6 all the same
