Please be careful of spoilers. For that fight ||do NOT just do the javeline knockback combo over and over. Yes it's optimal, but it's boring. The wolfhound on the other hand is a dumb waste of time that's just as likely to blow up in your face as it is to hit a pc; that's what makes it awesome, you gotta use it. Argus armor's a bitch, especially for new players. Make sure they know it's there the first time sunbird 1 takes any damage, and point out that stress can also break it. Hades missiles hit all characters, you can have a little friendly fire as a treat. Tell your players there will be a full repair after this so they don't hold back, and also don't worry about holding back yourself. The gate is scratched, the players have already won. If they lose this fight there are no consequences. At least, not for this mission. If sunbird 1 gets away it may come back later, muwahaha. You can also consider having Siren try to help. Have sunbird one fly off for a round and narrate her diving through clouds of missiles, assault canons glowing with heat trying to score a hit. If she hasn't gotten any upgrades she may be forced to fall back and you can bring sunbird 1 back to the players, but she bought them a round of reprieve. If your players have tried to get Siren some new weapons though (a few groups passed the catastrophe beam to her) consider rewarding them by having her strip a structure off the ship|| all for now, might have more when I wake up.

Mission 2: ||I personally believe anti capital should be as hard as possible, the players have already won. In my opinion this can serve as a difficulty spike and take the training gloves off. Core. Book ultras are Unforgiving and core book rainmaker are overtuned, if your party is ok with it, Go hard on them and bully them, if they win make it feel like they've earned it.||

||I have different opinions to ada above, I personally believe to use the rainmaker and ultra abilities like wolfhound because as much as you can/want because they're fun. But I personally spammed Javelin missiles + rocket pod combo as it encourages counter play such as cover to reduce hit chance or taking actions such as hiding. The fight taught my players new techniques in my games like stabilising is worth it.||

||Both times I've ran anti capital have been harsh, first time on a 3 player party the PCs won but it was a TPK (stressed sunbird on the final round). Then my party of 5 everyone ended the fight on 1 structure||

Have fun with it! Now, if your players are new to the game and already struggling with most fights? maybe don't go too hard on them. Your job is to make the game fun, after all. Sometimes that means losing, sometimes that means setbacks, but the key is the word "sometimes". Especially if they already failed Send in the Clowns or Killer Sound, it could be a good time for them to squeak out a win against a terrifying foe.||

Same. ||I limited the javelin/rocket combo to 1/round. Players thought that was okay. It did a ton of damage but didn't feel unfair, just rough. That was the only fight they came close to actually losing so far purely from a structure-depletion standpoint, and ended with the Sagarmatha player Bronco Hooking Sunbird-1, then self-destructing/ejecting. They loved it.||

they're already red, so you'd want to hit them with some blue. Get some indigo ink from a craft store, water it down enough to submerge one, put it on a wire and dip a few times and see if it works. You might have to try a few different color options to find one that'll penetrate/stain/adhere to the material. If they're really rubber it should work fine but there's a good dozen synthetics they could be made out of and each will have different properties with different color options. If drawing ink doesn't work, maybe clothing dye or even the dyes for colored eggs will be what you need.

If the color works, you'll want to keep it diluted and dip repeatedly to inch up on the color you want.

I kinda like that idea! Kinda like how for normal military pilots Mechs are generally not all on equal footing (With SSC mechs in general, especially the Monarch, being known as the best, while a few classics like the Raleigh and Barbarossa aren't that loved by most and stuff like the Sherman gets listed as a standard footsoldier tier mech)

But in the hands of a true Lancer, they all take on a different kind of shine. Like the Monarch's insanely good targeting computer that makes is the best mech for most being a worse option than manual targeting from a good pilot, or the Raleigh being really popular with lone mercenary types. With that equating to them being balanced from a player perspective
