Combined with years of training in handling scatterguns in mech combat and proper handshake etiquette, Havana occasionally still has trouble keeping up with the enormous recoil of the weapon but largely hits his shots when stabilizing the weapon with the Manticore‘s left arm. And judging by the damage this thing does when handled properly, Bad Star was even more of a bungler than previously suspected.

A set of heavy-duty industrial lifters repurposed into being an adjustable vernier thruster system for Black Elephant Alpha. Relying on powerful spot-ignitions, the thrusters can carry the heavy combat mech over the length of several strides through sheer power, operating at a speed that makes reacting to the barreling combat mech difficult if not outright impossible.

„Icerink“ Laser Grading Application (Sunzi 1 - Accelerate)

A half-baked HORUS gadget working well enough to deploy a prototype into combat, the Icerink is a wrist-mounted disk launcher carrying a unique payload. The discs fired by an Icerink are not combat-worthy projectiles but instead a miniaturized laser grading plow hooked up to a rudimentary grav-engine at the front, balanced out by a cryogenic spray unit at the back of the disc. Upon deployment, the Icerink disc flies forward in a straight line until the engine burns out (which, for the record, is about thirty meters), using its grading equipment to remove obstacles and microdebris from the area while the cryosprayer covers the graded area in a thick area of flash-frozen water vapor. After linking the memetic conduits leading out of Lira‘s casket with inert chaff emitters on the outside of the mech, the copilot NHP now possesses the means of projecting a field of distorting electromagnetism outwards, obscuring Black Elephant Alpha‘s signature on hostile sensors to a degree that is quite capable of fooling mech targeting entirely, causing shots to go wide and miss the approaching juggernaut entirely.

Veil Rifle (Dusk Wing 1 - Veil Rifle)

Offered to Havana alongside the Interference Field and the Stuncrown as part of the „Vaultcracker Package“, an open-source variation of the technology that came out of the breached Metavault DHIYED. The Veil Rifle is pintle-mounted at the top of the Manticore‘s chassis, able to rotate and target hostile independent from the base mech‘s orientation in order to allow Ozzy, Havana‘s SCYLLA-Class NHP to respond to threats quickly.

Personally I interpret that as NHPs potentially needing a LOT of space, and the folded blink thing as being a way to give each NHP a functionally unlimited amount of storage space to work with

with the linked implication that you could store an NHP on other hardware, but it wouldn't be healthy for them long-term

For the record I think the treatment of NHPs in Lancer definitely has a lot of very real issues that are worth exploring.

That said, [Nothing here is really a spoiler I'm just tagging for safety]||I feel like a lot of campaigns (and I don't think this is the fault of any particular campaign or any campaign writer's job to fix) end up inadvertently making the issue seem worse than it is re:shackling. By exploring the edge cases of what happens when shackling goes wrong constantly. Which makes sense because cascading NHPs and eidolons etc make for fun campaign elements and setpieces. They're super interesting to talk about in general. But it also can be a bit misleading about how much of a significant problem these things are actually supposed to be in world. Of course bad events are going to be overrepresented in the context of a ttrpg campaign, by its nature. I just feel the fandom does a bad job sometimes of actually talking about how rare this stuff in particular is supposed to be. That there's a disconnect there.||

Alright, I'd like to request some help running Ch2
||So, my players decided that they very much wanted to pursue the false alarms as a lead. There isn't a ton in the book about the emergency alert system so:
As far as I can tell, the false alarms are to cause alarm fatigue so that when the takeover begins, the station is slow to respond. Players can figure this out in the investigation, but there's no real lead or reward given for following this particular thread. My plan is that the PCs can, by looking into this, help the station fix the problem and stop the alarms. They won't immediately know why this is a good thing, but Rita will be extremely grateful. If they trigger beat 12, the station will be more prepared and respond to the alarms, and so I'll let the players have a Squad to help them in the combat(s) representing station security being ready and able to send forces to back them up; I like this delayed benefit as a callback that makes it feel like their actions had consequences. My problem is there's good odds they don't trigger beat 12, and I still want to reward them in some way for chasing down this lead, even if it's more on less a dud in the book. Any recommendations?||

Mission 2 I would make much harder but keep it very similar. I would also for night strike say every round "reinforcements imminenet" and never spawn them to show off something is wrong

Mission 3 I would have more interlude leading up to Sepulcher, more missions to check on and more machines going haywire like the broadcast, leading up to sepulcher. I would have the mission be 3-4 combats long and probably upgrade the weapon to an ultra or much bigger than just elite (and use the rebake avenger because base avenger is quite overtuned)

Mission 4 probably have more before the split...
Stay at evergreen: Unsure, seems fine but I never played it
Hivehome: Deffo play up the tension between the PC's and hivehome + the different city states in the HUC I didn't do that enough before, really make themselves at eachothers necks, I would do both the combats for Dthall Ordo and Terror, maybe offer more jobs or something IDK, then I would not have a full during/before the summit, then mountainfall.

Mission 5 I'd broadly keep similar||

Basically ||Any enemy which has a proper statblock and is just elite (which I find very funny) I would either boost to Ultra or make an elite vet/elite commander||
