||the crew is on the way to the tachyon. A reminder that one member of this party is Calamity Feedback, another ex sunlighter who left the Hounds with Havok (bc the player presented me a story that was very similar and we thought itd be cool to just make them a duo). A little over half way through the journey, I had Havok call Feedback and give a heads up that Andros is on the way, she heard from her old contacts in the Hounds. However, Havok says he’s a week behind, and the crew should be fine if they just take the long way back.

My deception was worth it, because right at the beginning of A Face To A Name, I got the most genuine “since WHEN can the Hounds fly at Nearlight??!”|| 10/10 session

tbf Im pretty sure that was always on the table but nothing in the game so far had led the players to believe they had that, so it was a real genuine surprise

Real paraffin wax would be harder to get than beeswax. Petrochemicals take specific conditions and very long term geologic processes to achieve. Bees could be kept for pollinating purposes in large scale agricultural environments like Impact Plaza and Furnace City, and excess wax is a byproduct of beekeeping (though most wax gets recycled by the hive or used to establish new hives). Industrial wax needs can be handled by printers: solid crystalline straight chain hydrocarbons shouldn't be that hard. That leaves beeswax as a rare but available commodity.. though I think it's more likely that people would just print crayons.

the problem here is "complex". It's an arbitrary line and causes a lot of confusion. DNA is very complex compared with wax which is just two CH3's with a long string of CH2 in the middle. But DNA is nothing compared to a lot of proteins. And with the scifi bullshit space magic that printers seem to be, I think the real line is in combining chemical structures. I think a printer should be able to print DNA just fine, but it's another matter entirely to build cell walls and print biologic samples. If you can manipulate matter and create chemicals on demand enough to produce the complex electronics and machinery a printer can make, wax is easy. On the other hand, it's astronomically more complex to produce wood fiber paper and plant leaves in order to produce:

I have 5 players in one game, and while it felt a little unwieldy at first, it definitely feels like the right size group for me after running (ch1) ||the tachyon||. my second group is only three players, they start chapter 1 this saturday, and in all my years as a GM or DM I have never had a group this small

back when I ran eberron d&d games all the time, the groups tended to stay around 5, occasionally 6 players

6 would get a little burdensome on combat though, especially in d&d with fixed initiative

3 is good because things move fast and everyone can have the spotlight basically as much as they want. But I personally feels that it suffers from redundancy, if someone OC isn't feeling this session it or IC has got fuckdd there's not much that can back them up. It also as a gm makes it reduces number of hostiles which I'm not a fan of because I like having lots of toys

5 players allows everyone to have breathers and allows redundancy, if a character gets fucked over IC then others can support. If a player isn't feeling the best OC they can drop the session or don't need to get too involved. 5 players also allows combats to feel like a battle rather than a skirmish which I love. I adore large enemy rosters because I have lots of toys

6 is too much
