See, I used her as a big red hearing in the ch2 portion of the story. She gave actual good intel in that plot beat but it was all to lure them into a false sense of security. The players thought she was just a wealthy ally until she sprung a trap in ||Send in the Clowns||

I'm going to be running In Golden Flame again for a different group of players, and am thinking of 'remixing' some of the combats by changing up the enemy compositions, potentially bringing in templates from other sources i.e. NRFAW.

Mainly to keep things interesting for myself and because the 2nd group has already played a bit of Lancer.

Has anyone tried doing this themselves before and might have some guidance on different compositions to mix and match with?

I like preset NPC rosters cos it means there's not much bias. Enemies will be encountered which can counter you but it's up to how well you round your build to fix it. It's not guaranteed but if it happens a lot account for it

However this breaks when a PC brings along something fundamentally broken where you every roster breaks unless the counter is brougght in

But that's only half happened with a bligh and requiring like ||bombards or scourers with melt which aren't that frequent in IGF||

The (cult spoilers)||Leviathan is the cult's Satan-figure. The great evil, source of all suffering. It's a mechanism through which the religion avoids just waiting for the apocalypse; in order for The One to be strong enough to burn the universe, The Leviathan must be weakened. You do that by reducing suffering. The broader faith does a lot of charitable works, and the inner cult is trying to balance the harms they do against the end goals. Members of some other denominations of the faith of The One might think the inner cult is tainted. They might even label Feather the Leviathan, a false god leading the cult astray. ||

In act 3 (GIANT SPOILERS but also old enough ideas for a book far enough off that this may be changed or removed later) ||at least one lane of planning has included the event of Leviathan physically appearing in Asphodels oceans. Possibly created by Feather's reality-warping, or maybe Feather really is the One and this really is the adversary. You might think that's a good thing, something to counter Feather, but I remind you of Maxim 29: The enemy of my enemy is my enemy's enemy. No more, no less.||

Before the SRT she carefully developed a reputation as a clutz / mechanically cursed, breaking a few older machines that really needed refurbishing anyway. That way she doesn't cause much actual harm, and in the future if she's called on to do actual sabotage she has a good chance of getting away with it. Cruye dubbed it the "etto bleh" school of spycraft and the image stuck.

Rosé Bottle is my character from the remix game Cruye runs. Her name got added as a mention, not a full NPC, and she got put in as the ||specialist the cult brings in to fix up the reactor on the icebreaker. She leaves via fire gate before the players arrive, so she's got a whole "Ma'am not appearing in this game" thing going on. ||

Really ham up how off things are, combine the weird sights into player-by-player encounters with a few culminating in specific points of the journey
What I did was ||I set up a clock called "Something is Wrong" that ticked every time a player investigated one of the weird things on the ship. It didn't have a mechanical effect, but it built tension as the players watched it slowly fill in as more and more weird things happened.||

As a player who just recently went through that sequence of events (and who has no damn clue if any of it comes up later because I am NOT spoiling myself on this), I'm going to say that in addition to the other guy's advice, ||you should probably utilize Feather, or whatever the long-cascaded NHP onboard was, as part of it if the book doesn't already guide you into doing so, and if your players decide it'd be a good idea to visit its casket like my teammates did then OH BOY feel free to crank up the crazy
I was going to describe one of the things my GM did with it but I don't know what's part of the book and what he improvised, so I'm afraid I might end up giving what turns out to be a worse version of an example from the book||

overall though, as someone who is not a GM, I think the intent for that whole sequence is to leave the PCs with more questions than answers
and I think that because that is how I felt when my party finished the exploration and moved on to the final fight of mission 1
