With my chosen IRL reference for Samorn, all i need to do is find reference images for Steeple, Zijad, and Teka, and ill have designs for everyone in Hells Gate

progress update on making files and pages for my notes

I also still need to add every location i wanna put in from hells gate thats within hells gate
i will be putting off putting in the rest of the icebreaker, asphodels, or anywhere else's npcs until they become relevant, including the table npcs

brown i have half of them filled, the other half is half paper written, and half copy pasteable (its proxyverse lore)

pink are all NPCs (and 5 of families and 1 of their "twitch" chats, which are basically just set dressings) related to the players characters themselves - these i need to completely and entirely originally input the info for. a lot of it is either just in my head, documented on paper, or in DMs transcripted from calls

and i still need to finish putting in my 2 players who are native to original systems systems in too

So i gotta finish all the hells gate locations, fill in the [[red, greens, some blues, some oranges, and some yellows]], from there i gotta finish filling out all the brown, do all the pink, and then do session zero's meeting flashback episode. then we get into chapter 1.

obsidian basically, you designate a folder on your computer, and every note you make makes another note file (well its a .md file but its a note file that has quirks that can be read in obsidian). folders make more folders. its all locally hosted. i also pay for cloud usage for up to10 obsidian things to also use it on my phone but its just me, most people i know who use it dont

you can customize the layout and its got tons of plugins

As always, the NPC versions of Kraken, Pear, Calamity, and Gabriel are only based on the PCs from my game. On top of that, once you start running, they're your NPCs to interpret and characterize. If anybody wants to know what the PCs are like as a way of informing your NPCs, or just to get ideas for them if you don't have any, I'm always willing to share, but it's really cool to see the different ways they can be interpreted and molded.

it's implausible and impractical to assume that 5000u's languages have ANY resemblance to contemporary languages. But crucially, it's really cool to think that languages like spanish persist like that. And remember: Mechs are also implausible and impractical, but get a pass for being really cool.

Honestly there's no aspect of the world that should have any familiarity with our own. Union came about some 5k years after the fall. 10k years in the future, after a major fall. 10k years ago humanity was in the Pre-Pottery Neolithic era clustered in the fertile crescent. We're piecing together hints of what life was like back then, 10k years in the future is impossible to predict.

But that means either making it wild as hell and impossible to relate to, or we inject a bunch of what's familiar and known because it helps us tell better stories. It's the way Sci-Fi has always worked; tell stories about the future that are really stories about the present.

I hear a lot about the (mission 2) ||cat beam (mostly as memes)|| or mission 3 ||golden hand because it has plot|| but I hardly hear about other items such as some of the basic ones you get on the icebreaker, hells gate or such

interestingly, the ||cat beam|| has an alt use as a sort of area denial. people tend to move out of the way when you start charging it!

Its pretty much all of that. The shortest trip to Calliope at present date is 10 long years from Rao Co station. There are no great habitable planets, no great natural resources, and no great reason to live out there. The only thing its got going for it is that it is a rest stop between union space and the dawnline shore, but even then there isn't a compelling reason to stop since the only costs to spaceflight are speeding up and slowing down.

So realistically its not worth union's time and resources, as callous as it sounds. They tell people not to live in calliope.

Then there was a push to save it and turn it into a part of the dawnline shore, or at least survive off industry to the shore, but that fell through as well. Calliope has been slowly dying since then
