granted um
i kinda was possessed by RNJesus for a bit
i just. wouldnt roll below a 20.
so my players are trying to enter Furnace City incognito - they used a different transport ship and everything because they were worried about their presence alerting Impact Dynamics
does this mean they don't interact with canaan zhou?... i can think of ways to throw ignatius aurum and the crone at them, but it seems like canaan would need to know that the hell's gate SRT is coming to furnace city to request a meeting with them
maybe elske wasn't able to get their landing permit without letting canaan know that it was for the SRT?
I feel like there's some implication in the text that Canaan has a lot of pull with lots of people, represented by the fact that you have a difficulty to any interactions with Furnace City residents before meeting with them?
Could be pulling things fully out of my ass, but it's not all that improbable to go "once people see you out and about, you get approached by the temporary overseer's office to request a meeting" just because Canaan is The Person To Go To re:the crisis and they have every reason to believe your SRT is there to help
don't worry, that's normal
dude gets fucken clowned on in every timeline
You could allow them to do it but make it obvious they really should talk to a certain somebody(Canaan) if they go complete incognito mode.
make it known to them in some way that there's a specific guy attached to coordinating Furnace City's response to this crisis and not meeting them would be a mistake
My group was going normal against Capella until one of them with the LMG just obliterated his last two structure with initiative and overcharge-
My group double tapped wide area code pulse on the encounter
Then capella got got by the TCB Everest a couple rounds later
bro is far too hotheated for someone within threat 3
anyways we killed him and all his goons on the Tachyon weirdly easy for a group of 5 where 3 of us had never touched Lancer before lol
to quote a vex meme: "my brother in christ you were the one who wouldn't [DISENGAGE]"
This is exactly what's happening in my friend's game. double code pulse caught every enemy with immobilized and prone, Andros took a max damage howitzer to the noggin, and the TCB everest sheered off two structure with one hit. He's on his last structure, he's adjacent to that everest, explosive jet is on cooldown, and Round 2 just started so it's a player's turn. They're going to finish teh fight next session and I can't wait to hear how it goes.
THIS HAPPENED TO ME TOO

omg
what the fuck are IGF timelines
well in my case it was just one code pulse
someone explain
but I wrote it so that Capella had been "watching" the party (because knowing your most formidable enemies' secrets is a good idea) and used what he knew to taunt them, so they all just focused fire directly on him
There’s canon events that happen to everyone, and based on the lore of the game itself every individual game of igf is considered its own parallel timeline within the wider universe
Capella losing the fucking flamethrower is one
my ex-Knight player took the remains of the flamethrower as a trophy from the slagged husk of his mech
Oh you were saying that sarcastically I think whoops
my players have been stealing accessories from mirages
they blackmailed S1GN4L for his cowboy hat and swiped the illusionist from send in the clowns' cloak
My knight player killed him, then is part of the group that betrayed the blacksmith and is getting ex-knighted now
oh hey my group mercy-ruled S1GN4Ls group (mercy rule was once we lapped them in points fight was over) and we arrested them, dragged them back to hells gate
i believe S1GN4L was given over to a certain bastardous lady by the name of Striga
poor guy
my players started to feel bad for S1GN4L when they realized how afraid of Capella he was so he was also placed in protective custody on the Gate, but maybe he's in a better state now
they haven't visited him yet
DoS was close on points for my crew, but S1GN4L managed to escape largely unscathed (took one HEX grenade)
then the 2 hackers used what was left behind to figure out where he was hiding so they could send him a message along the lines of:
"So, we know where you're hiding. If you stay the fuck out of our way, you're good. Try and screw with us again and we'll broadcast your location on the muse.
Also, send us the printcodes for the mech-scale cowboy hat."
oh for my crew it was no issue at all
he sent them the printcodes, long with a Totally Legal Don't Worry About It Blackbeard 1 license for the LL1 rank-up, as an additional peace offering
I (CQB everest) rushed down the mine/missiler combo, nabbed north-east point, 2 grabbed south-west point, one of us stuck on south-east
"S1GN4L why is this blackbeard running hot and constantly talking about DECIMATING THE ENEMIES OF RA"
"NO REASON"
i love making memes about the group im playing with bc they are all such disasters /pos
Its BEYOND funny at this point. He got the Boarding Leash as a sacrificial weapon after playtesting and he STILL loses the fucking flamethrower
Denial of Service was hilarious. Our players never even approached S1GN4L and he took literally zero damage
capella didnt lose the flamethrower in my one ;-; i feel like i was lost
oh same, we did not once fire at/on S1GN4L or the beefy fucker
and we just let the turret-guy deploy all his shit bc "we have 3 of the spots and they cant take any of them. why bother?"
our players tied DOS because they didnt do shit about signal ping ponging around the same point
lol, S1G got stuck in the middle unable to really do anything
yeah
our s1gn4l stood on the same point uncontested teleporting the demo closer and closer until the demolisher had to be dueled in a 1v1 (nobody won the duel) against our melee chomo for the game-winning point
pretty much what happened was our lovely size 2 friend blocked off the only entry the enemy size 2 could use for one point, I sat on another point keeping it capped, and our hacker sat on another, keeping it capped
My party's DoS (from memory)(4 players at the time)
I added the rainmaker to the comp for comedy reasons (and because I knew the berserker would get immediately shit on and accomplish nothing [and I was right])
seeder set up shop in NW point and held it basically uncontested while hmg everest held SW. Got charged by the berserker but it couldn't quite get in range before it got BCL'd and promptly executed.
then TCB everest and double chomolungma held SE point while fighting over NE. Engineer set up one turret on NE, then I started using it aggressively to pressure SE point (and to set up a fun trick for later). Demolisher got teleported in and then promptly lost a duel to the TCB everest because i'm extremely literate and definitely didn't forget Shock Armor existed.
rainmaker was a mild annoyance for a bit before becoming a major problem later.
S1GN4L was the world's biggest annoyance, constantly teleporting shit around. He got shot at a couple times (missed to invis) and passed the save on a HEX grenade, making it out with 4 total damage taken. Then he, the Rainmaker, and the Engineer combined forces for what has been referred to in my group as "The Divine Comedy"
So the Rainmaker has Atlas Missiles, yeah? Mark an area, big damage at end of the following round. Way I set it up was a token with an image of a bomb and an aura of the appropriate size. This bomb token had the nametag "Comedy", because I think Atlas Missiles are really really funny.
Atlas Missile goes down directly on SE point, I explain how it works, players say "OK got it we need to not be there at detonation". So, during the round it'll blow up, they all move just outside the blast radius.
Remember how I was being aggressive with the Engi and its turrets? S1GN4L's first turn was used to teleport some turrets into the aoe. then his second turn was double metafold-shoving players into the AOE (because i misread NPC full tech and thought you could double up). Then the missile blew up.
C O M E D Y
Comedy
Peak
The canon event of Act 1 Chapter 1 is that the bosses just get BULLIED
As by the words of my Everest Player at the time:
"I would like to overcharge skirmish
Then normal Skirmish
Free everest action skirmish
Okay I missed all three cause invis but that was all the assault rifle so
three instances of 2 reliable damage."
Me: "So he structures."
Capella: "Sweet, ive set up my firebreak shield, blocking access from all the enemies for a moment, HA!"
Caitlin: "Initiative for free boost. Core power for additional boost. Move 4 so im engaged on his back. Barrage, Shotgun, Knife. Overcharge. Knife."
I think my players were definitely more annoyed by the named NPC in combat 2 of mission 1 than the final one :p
my friends finally sent in their chara art, so i was able to complete The Meme(TM)
my pattern recognition is a curse as i went
"wait we have five players"
"WAIT WE HAVE FIVE PLAYERS"
Oh good heavens
tbh its not the only meme ive made for that group
but it is by far the most cursed
....so far
Our ||Anti-Capital|| ended last session really badly for the players... so I'm gonna have a certain someone show up at the start of next session (thx ada 4 token
)
After my friends took out Andros their group called Jerry just as soon as they were out of Chameleon's interference
Jerry only kind of half-believed them with the news that Andros was dead and said "Not that I'm suspicious but uhm... you... you have proof he didn't get away or something?"
The Streamer Lancer said "I have video proof Jerry."
Jerry: "Oh can you send it my way?"
Streamer: "Jerry. Sweetie. Babe. Only my tier 3 subscribers get access to pre-exclusive content."
Jerry: "... stare I'm your boss?"
Streamer: "For militia work. but not my streaming boss."
Jerry: siiiiiiighs and rummages for his credit codes; he did pay of course
The only difference between your interaction and mine
is that if my streamer PC had pulled that, shelly would have intervened. She's very protective of Jerry.
All of my PC's are scared of Shelly

So far Shelly has only mildly threatened one person and it was the person who was going to snatch some of Jerry's coffee
that's very similar to something that happened at the end of the first mission tho
lmao shells hasn't actually done anything to them
but apparently I have a very scary Mom voice IRL and I use it when I play shelly
so no one has done anything to antagonize her
I still think shells is the best deterrent for keeping the PC's from messing with Jerry
she's very scary xD
My party managed to trick Jerry into saying 'poggers'.
They were recording.
They sent the soundbite to Switch.
She can just turn all the station cameras to look at you, judgingly, and you find yourself later assigned to a suspicious number of jobs you'd dislike
Also all the vending machines seem to keep eating your ingots
jerrypoggers.omif is now a common meme in Switch's streams.
passive aggressive shelly...
You monster
Jay: '...What is it that Switch says, again? Paggers?'
Jerry: 'Poggers?'
Sidonia: 'CLIP IT CLIP IT CLIP IT'
It is funny that the player in my group who is a streamer wants a HORUS mech, so right now they are getting some subtle HORUS donations because they think it'd be funny if they had a streamer working with them since Switch is Horizon aligned (they assert, at least)
Streamer on Streamer Violence
(and by violence I mean pranky level vandalism)
So far the best prank has been them signing each other up for sponsorships and having to do ad reads
"This stream is sponsored by ... Manna Shave Club?!"
incredibly true.
get surprised by hearing Jerry’s voice in the sound clip
My SRT made it back home to a good crowd formed over what they did on asophdel. IT being such a public affair with the stream Steele stupidly did made it so the folk hero status really stuck.
Kris Kross used a little detail he picked up waaaaaaay back in chapter 1 to add some militia readiness thanks to creating an organization called
<MILITARY ORGANIZATION>
[+0] EFFICIENCY
[+4] INFLUENCE```
The Cay Boy streamer did in fact hug his grandma Samouron and purr. He blatantly rebuffed my hints he should touch the Golden Hand revolver because he could hear the faint revolver spin while he slept. Going to make it annoyed and force a dream that if he doesn't start looking....well.
Our fail detective got a warm welcome by Mikaela and has been talking to Anastasia a lot about how the faith works and the differences between the doctrines of the Abandoners and the Perfect Hisari.
Sunlighter Pirate Metzli went and fought in the hell fire leagues taking the NHP Kid off one of our players to show them their match while taking Calamity as her personal atlas technician. They fought a DD288 armed Caliban piloted by GORILLAZ CLASS NHP, She won the cage match by tossing him out of the ring.
LAstly, Wattaya, our Voladore tradeswoman went on a date with her friend Cerulean where he let her into his hab block, met Kracken painting a very lovely mural to the party on the side of a building. Cerulean showed how his fencing helps those in Calliope get the little bit of extras they need Jerry can't provide and how his whole life has been nothing but making somethings just a tiny bit better by what he does. Through music, fencing, spending too much time making things perfect. He revealed he had a genuine grand piano in his room and played her a song. He got to see a Voladore without a mask and was told 'te quiero'

Hey, I'm trying to put in some skill triggers for one of my players and the IGF ones aren't showing up in Foundry. Any ideas?
I believe you can edit skill triggers after theyve been put in, with the ... button. I can probably help more in an hour or so if youre still having that issue
I figured out how to edit them, thank you.
i have noticed that comp/con isn't great at exporting lcp skill triggers to foundry, suspect it's just a software data architecture limitation in some way
I may have destroyed one of our player's mechs as the (cascading) NHP
your post inspired me to make this
LET'S FUCKING GO
midway through making that this happened and I had a good giggle about it
PFFF
Welcome to the funny photoshop moment
Meanwhile I am currently adding the cards I have right now for the pinned resources
Okay, added. Please let me know if there is anything missing there and let me know if there are characters you'd like a card for! I should intend to do so for every NPC with art
WHAT AN INTENSE FUCKING SESSION
DAMAGE BREAKDOWN - THERMOPYLAE/ANTI-CAPITAL
Katabasis's Commencement [GMS Everest]
Destroyed
Hertz's Never Meant to Know [GMS Chomolungma]
Abandoned
Chariot Jackal's Taipan Fool [GMS Everest]
Destroyed
Soundwave's Faith in Rebellion [GMS Everest]
Destroyed
oof.mp3
i take it this was a loss?
yeah. total failure - only two enemies down @ end of Round 5. they retreated onto the Dragon's Tooth
no they just ate shit
everyones mech died when going from 2 to 1 structure
One of them was Chomolungma right? Did they not have Core active?
yeah, they cored!
i mean, ultra rainmaker can attrition people real quick if it rolls well
ik, my players experienced that horror...
Holy shit, failure on their part
To be fair, That fight is the first real gutcheck
Tell them bunny mom belives in them!
great opportunity to have sunbird one show up again in a future mission 😊
so like
what does ignatius aurum do in his day-to-day life 🤔
like if some of the players were to tail him after one of his public sermons, what would they see?
absolutely if they do the Act 2 ||HA false flag arc i'm gonna do a sunbird one vs sunbird two fight||
||Sunbird 1v1 me bro||
You have it set so access needs to be requested
Today's session was fucked. We started off at the beginning of Round 3. Soundwave's NHP cascading, Katabasis destroyed, and Siren has just shown up to save the day. It got so much worse. Surprisingly, the cascading NHP's mech, with Soundwave, went down first to a bad overwatch from the Cataphract, and a 1 on the structure roll. Chariot Jackal went to help try to save them, but ate a shotgun shot from the Sentinel and went down immediately after. They had to eject from the wreck to reach the Tooth and GTFO. Hertz was the only one left with an active mech at the start of Round 5 - they took out the Hornet (the only S.R.T. kill of the fight, but the Operator also got obliterated by the moving strut.), then had to Eject to make it aboard the Tooth, which then departed the scene.
Currently Soundwave is laying unconscious in the Tooth. All of the other PCs are absolutely fucking traumatized from this fight.
try now
Just moved into Act1 Ch3, ||We got L-Kay back in two rounds, but her four teammates KIA, it was the Hellhound thugs killed them.
Hearding this, Jerry was so angry that he crushed his teacup with his bare hands||
And promptly cried because it was his favourite mug
I love that he cares that much.
Another scene for a sad atmosphere: Shelly blames herself for the accidental death of several miners because of her mistake in the working arrangement, which pushed her into cascade, "see donuts"
Switch lost smile in the live broadcast reporting this incident, so are PCs.
this is Calliope
But things turned into some silly comedy because ||these knight pirates arrive||
yes this Calliope
A dark comedy can still make you hurt and smile in the best of ways, and Calliope has been a stage for such performances for a long, long time.
One of my players is just smitten with their characters relationship with The Blacksmith.
He's making her a terishma blade. Elske is not mad. Not at all
The implications of The Blacksmith knowing how to forge a Terashima Blade...
There's some spicy plot hooks there
Heehoo
I just ran the exploration through the Tachyon and the first boss fight
I think that’s the most fun any of players have had in any of my games so far.
I can’t fuckin wait for you-know-what.
Oh boy, need anything for it?
So far I have maps and tokens for everything up to that point.
But if anybody has some fucked-up crystal-y oil slick lookin’ ones, that would be very helpful for that specific section.
Hmm, I'm sure some of the token makers have to have something.
iirc there are some ||boltzmann|| tokens made by Ada
When the time comes, I’ll ask around in Retrograde.
how'd your players do?
One of them got destroyed, the others got their asses kicked pretty well, even with me not realizing that Firebreak Shield happens at the end of the turn automatically and not a Quick Action.
Yup, everyone forgets that. Calliope canon event
I didn't! It just didn't help at all versus the tech attack spam into melee beatdown
Do we have a logo for Hell's Gate?
idk Vex had added one or not, so homebrew logo is ok
I don't think there is one no
....I remember seeing one somewhere
or rather, a logo for "Sytgia Mining Platform" with "HELL'S GATE" painted over it
Vex made that, I turned it into this to use with foundry as a custom pause icon (I had a custom font on there too but I'm in the middle of changing some things)
Gettin Send In The Clowns ready. Credit to Ada, Jaqmarti, Retrograde, and Starlight Furnace for the assets!
i hope when my party is naming the squad, they like my idea
incorporating the word Elysium somewhere into the team name because hey if we are going for the underworld / hell theme here in Calliope
why not name yourself after the gentlest and most pleasant of hells?
sick
yooo this fucks, the RCT2 assets work surprisingly well in this context
Thank yoooou! Yeah they're not bad
So, hm, I've tried to make the Chapter 3 Intro and while it's not good I've wanted to share it
that was great actually
Okay, question. How reasonable would it be for cactus to be staple in Callope? I plan on adding some more Latin American influences. 🤔
i don't think it'd be really that unreasonable for nopales to be common in calliope, really... maybe a little bit rarer than the staples mentioned in the text (soybeans, kale, etc.) just bc the plants are so big and bc it's not the most nutritionally dense food in the world? it might not be as much of a priority for farmers
it's a flex of agricultural skill in the Terra Solus
grow the dryest plant in the wettest planet
And hells gate got tomatoes thanks to steeple.
when i run this....i shall add a NEW group.....
a group of hells gaters dedicated to helping a ventcrab molt forever
and grow to UNPRECEDENTED SIZES
The truth could do that
Maybe the crab is the only way to prevent the coming shrimpocalypse
That moment when your players are doing another interview with Switch and name drop Anastasia and Clip as help during the Chapter 3 mission. The DM's with the PCs that interact with them got mad hype.
PCs after they saw an interview of Steele on one of the Icebreaker Borealis big screens where Steele said: "One of my secrets is I made sure all of my management team are Alpha Males, regardless of gender."
And they are only in Chapter 2
lmao, that happens
i'm going to run my first session of in golden flame tomorrow, and was curious if anyone has found it relevant to track the calendar days throughout the game? my group is used to keeping pretty strict track of time, and i'm curious if anyone sees that causing any type of issue when it comes to the campaign or not- or if it's not particularly relevant either way
Hmm, maybe for simple RP Needs? Travel in Calliope is on a scale of a few days from point A to B where the longest that comes to memory is two weeks? IT would make setting a time line of who talked to who during what time frame a tad easier.
I certainly haven't bothered
gotcha, i've found it be relevant in like, pathfinder and other games where things can recharge on a day or you can only rest so often and what have you, but that isn't present in lancer and i haven't noticed anything that is heavily time sensitive in act 1, so i can probably hand wave it
"Our team. Over 100,000 strong. And we love all of them. Unless they cross us. Then we'll hunt them down and hurt them. Because that's love, too.” ~an Impact Dynamics omnistream ad read, probably
god now i wanna edit the Senator Armstrong speech into one for Steele, fuck.
ive come to the conclusion that this IRL description is how all food is described on the icebreaker
"Ooey gooey corporate synergy"
you tell me thats not impact dynamics shit
So, there's stuff in the book that says how much time a rest and a full repair take, these are shorter than the mission 1 gaps in time, but the way to explain why your players can't Full Repair is that because the printer broke, Hell's Gate has no supply of sufficient parts you would need to Full Repair, necessitating your players using their Repair Cap. That's most of what I think covers time sensitive stuff in act 1, everything is generally measured in weeks (downtime) or in days (mission time)
not sure why but Impact Dynamics/Plaza are green themed in my head
everyone else seems to make them blue
but I feel like the Icebreaker should be the blue one
Hell's Gate is red and Furnace City is orange
Three Sisters is purple
idk Endymion's Lament
well I mean they're definitely the greenest place in the system bar maybe Furnace City, what with all the agriculture
So, one of my players love the relationship his Voladore character has with Cerulean and did a me where they get art of the character. I gave some descriptions to fill in the black of art but
Burn out rocker boy vibe
Maybe a sickly golden yellow was considered but realized that could lead to copyright infringement from SSC
blue+green and purple
true
I have been running IGF since before those art pieces tho, and those color schemes already manifested in my mind then
maybe it's because plants are green and ice is blue(well it's actually white/clear but we all pretend it's blue when it's drawn)?
Water in large amounts is blue. The sky is blue because of the particular way that water vapor refracts and scatters light that hits it.
Also it's the same logo I found on the bottom of a pyramidon, I just redrew it bigly and sharply
I'm also a player so I am being fed my IGF slop through a small hole in my enclosure
incredible
Icebreaker Borealis I picture well mostly colours of the aurora borealis so greens, pinks, purples, blue, teals, everywhere
Mission 3: ||This town aint big enough for the 2 of us! (Gun's at noon)||
WIP sorta? ||I want the old dried out beach blend looking better and the left side of the map looks a tad empty... Then again that's the point...||
that's like, exactly what I had in mind for that combat
I think you did a fantastic job
Thanks :D
Given a bit of refining, ||added more clutter and made the beach more blended, made the roads more defined...|| Don't wanna spam it here, so I'm adding it to the drive :P
Just realised a zheng in Guardian angel can be like ||Stop the invaders! as some outlanders hide in their habs. Then the Zheng goes "I'll save you!" before picking up the hab and throwing the occupied hab at the enemies||
||"We did it patrick! we saved the day!" As all the outlanders are just sticking their hand out the broken habs like 👍 as they're suffering MASSIVE injuries from their house being thrown||
Finally got around to finishing the Landing page for my upcoming IGF game. Once again, big thanks to Ada for her guide and assets, and Valkyrion for the FIGMA template I built most of this off of.
hoooooly shit, how the hell'd you manage this? ive been fighting with Foundry to get shit looking not even half as nice-
On the foundry side, it requires two specific modules. Ernie's Modern UI, which allowed me to change the coloration and look of the built-in UI to better suit the landing page theme. And Monk's Active Tile Triggers, that allowed me to set up the 'buttons' that players can click on to get to different pages, open journal notes, and so on.
The actual creation of the pages was a blend of FIGMA and photoshop (namely for the Calliope System map, that I pulled wholesale from Ada's drive and squished down).
Here's a link to the Figma page, if you're interested. If you have an account (it's free), you can copy this page to your own Figma project and change it however you like:
I would also suggest digging into Ada's landing page guide for useful tips and fantastic planet/system assets.
You're a legend, tysm!
Anytime~
Most sane Muse posts
fun fact ventcrabs canonically breed quick
Lmao, they are evolving
Got another group together and I'm running IGF again, this time I'm much more prepared for it and have a really awesome group, so I'm super excited to be running it :D
last group I ran for got cut short due to certain factors and stuff so I'm really hyped to go through the whole of act 1 this time
Reminder to DM me or ask around here for help, Shrimp
Will do :D
🦐👍
oooh
thanks for mentioning ernie's modern UI... giving it a shot with our landing page
custom clocks
IGF Lore Question! Spoilering it just incase. ||So in the background information of Ignatius Aurum, it mentions he used to be under the name Liddell Ross in the Nestorian Citizens Coalition leadership. From the time he was in that leadership position to now being the speaker for the one, has his appearance changed at all? Mainly wondering for if a character originally from Nestor would be able to recognize them pretty quickly or just be able to even recognize them in the first place.||
||so, i can't confirm one way or the other, but i'd personally bet that his appearance hasn't changed all that much. however, the kintsugi lines shot through his skin with gold are new, and half of his face is entirely covered by the golden mask at all times, obscuring his facial features.
given the fact he's from nestor is casually revealed after chapter 4 without much fanfare, i wouldn't worry about a player finding out about his identity, either; in the event they end up getting suspicious somehow and unmasking him, or if his mask ever comes off on its own accord, that revelation will have been earned.||
👍
||I'll keep that in mind then. One of my players is planning to make their character born from Nestor, having just left after the war there so I was hoping to be able to play into that knowledge a little bit. Also do you by chance have a page number / beat number where it's revealed hes from Nestor so I can take a look 👀||
||page 58 of Act 1. and i'd reccomend stopping by #909574961931362365 and downloading the latest draft of Act 2 in the pins, where you can read the Ross Tapes intended to reveal his backstory to the players (contained on pages 57 through 61 of said pdf)||
||oh, wait, i misread your question!||
||page 234 is where Annabelle McKenzie mentions this fact.||
||Oh sweet! I'll definitely go ahead and take a look at that and also the act 2 portion you mentioned. Thank you for your help :D||
||you're welcome!!!||
||hey sorry for the late ping but how far along is the draft out of curiousity? might send it over to my dm if its playable-but-not-polished if you get me||
||i believe its still very much in development; not just lacking in polish. although, still a good read for a gm, i think||
Act 2 is currently playable but not without a good deal of adlib work from a gm to make it work. The scaffolding is there but it would be up to the gm to make anything out of it. That said, the drafts already contain many elements that a GM might want to consider while running Act 1. Things that can be foreshadowed, set up, or outright referenced early.
oh cool, also neat, ada, yuo are unironically perfectly timed
*you
someone mentioned you have a landing page guide but i cant find any links?
if ya could send a link my way or point me to where i can find it that'd be really appreciated :D
there's a pinned comment here with a link to a spreadsheet of community content that has a link to that guide
But here's the direct link https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_E_cjfnrUFHm1ThzyXG9ak0SqfAYI8uPd_ScSrn4oZ4/edit?usp=drivesdk
The assets for that ui setup are on the spreadsheet
ayy great! Tysm ada :D
I wrote that over a year ago so if you have questions hit me up
(Though if you do so really soon i'll hopefully be asleep)
i mean same, is it aight if i ping you when/if i do?
Heyo, sorry for the late ping but do you happen to have that "welcome to Hell's Muse" probably-gif?
mp4, since gifs don't work as tiles (or scenes) on foundry. I took the CodeCrawl and slapped it down on this page, stretching it out to cover the station map. I plan on changing this animation out over the course of play, dependent on where the group is at in the adventure. So having it be a tile instead of a scene, that I can swap out easily is preferrable.
@tame tide hey, so i really like your maps but i'm strugglign with the image dimensions for foundry? Would you mind i ask for image dimensions if you have them?
I tried the ones in the corner of || snack run|| but it seems to not align properly
wait no nvm
i am a fool
i know what i have done wrong, sorry to bother
Go to the shared drive in pins. Check my maps there and it's in the root folder
No problem, hearing people using my maps makes me happy motivates me to keep making 'em :D
this template yeah?
problem is that the zones don't really line up with the hex grid in background?
spoilered because it's a map
That's not my map?
That map looks like it uses hexagonal columns too not hexagonal rows
hang on...
oh i'm an idiot that's why. I'm using your map for the second two combats and some elses for the first
the details work perfectly for my other two... and that's why...
Haha, all good
well at least the maps are working. really hyped for the || andros || fight because the map'll make it nice and claustrophobic
||with steam popping from the vents left right and center, if Andros doesn't get immediately annihilated the players will have to worry about everything being in soft cover... oh and the heat|| >:D
One day when I'm free I'll go over the mission 1 maps with sci fi assets rather than just mashing together custom assets and steampunk fantasy :P
Oh my god, "they're all Alpha Males, regardless of gender" is too good. Do you mind if I incorporate that into Act 2?
How do you make these?
Since we have your ear, O Creator, how would one go about mailing a vent crab to Steele's office and making it pinch him as soon as he opens the package on live TV?
Cuz I had that idea and wanted to kind of subtly pitch it to my players once they got to that point because they're never not gonna take that option once it becomes available to them.
Buddy, the intricacies of how you do that are a problem for your players to solve
Entirely fair
How do you sneak a live vent crab through Rodericke Steele's mail screening systems? It would be impossible if the system were competently installed.
This being Impact Dynamics, it's probably not.
The "ruining his day" thing is intentionally vague to leave options like this open, but you know Rodericke Steele way better than I do.
Honestly, I can't wait to see what my players actually come up with
That shit is guaranteed to be a highlight
I would not want to bias your players in any way
I want to hear about whatever absurd Rube Goldberg of humiliation they dream up, completely free of my authorial intent
Understood.
I'll check back in, like, two months or however long it takes for us to get there with what they did to him.

ive kinda accidentally become the meme-maker of the party
Not at all feel free! Especially if its during pride month lol
i stand by that this is my best meme so far for the party, even if it is cursed
did your party also || dog on the bean man||
I'm still losing it how when when I fought bean man I missed a CPR shot on him and our totally just a reporter we swear guys did him in with a charge blade to the fuel line
||he ran in. at our party of five. out of the five of us, two are medium range, and im Vanguard/Combined Arms CQB||
||Motherfucker folded like a stack of cards||
oh see the way he died in the one im in is i had layed into him w/ an shotgun, charge blade, initiative-skirmish-chargeblade, getting him down to one health
and then our rather awkward player who has never played lancer before smacked him with an assault rifle
|| oh yeah uh... pyros rely on armor a lot turns out||
|| due to our gm being absolutely wonderful and letting us have an ll2 start... we had 3 sourcces of ap shred so he fell to bits||
||but did he lose a mount when losing structure?||
TURNS OUT LL0 TO LL2 IS A VERY BIIIIG POWERSPIKE
|| for us he rolled a 1, failed the hull check and got insta destruction||
|| gm retconned it so we could have a fun fight but uh....||
Yeah, one of my players had that same problem with a TCB against a Breacher
It was flavored as sick hand-to-gun-kata combat, but it really felt more like a slap fight
that he nearly lost and almost exploded.
Oh hey, that's my map! Did you get this working?
yep! it looks great (I am going to cause suffering to my players)
I have done the same with an autostabbed bolt thrower and a bolt thrower shot with lock on
HA
I'm just an innocent little hopper!

Also further elaborating: I really truly feel like Rodricke Steele is a man who just knows buzzwords and doesn't know what they mean aside from their bases forms like 'good' or 'bad'. So he might actually genuinely mean that.

Reporting on Calamity's IGF game; they finished mission 1.
||Their transport shuttle to S1GN4L's platform got wrecked, so Siren had to come out and pick them up. They had Switch on a ride-along, but the change in plans meant they went straight out to Chameleon. S1GN4L was captured during Denial of Service, and the team was forced to lock them in a bathroom. During the flight out some of the PCs were watching Beyond the Pale with Siren and they set up a mirror so S1GN4L could watch from the bathroom window, now they're all fans. ||
||The Tachyon got them proper scared, and one PC burned her hand through her hardsuit when they tried to touch the casket. Plan is (with player permission) this wound will continue to spread during the trip home and require amputation.||
||Andros took three structure in two TCB hits and died after just 5 activations. Double chololungma CP with Howitzer and mortar fire killed 80% of the enemy comp without them getting to take a real action. GM added an assault and two grunts as reinforcements to try and pad it out a little, but that didn't do much. They captured the Support pilot (callsign "Rabbit") while the others fled to (hopefully) be picked up by the Hell Hounds before the Tachyon went. So now the Dragon's Tooth is carrying the five SRT members, Switch, Anderson "Cowboy Hat" Anderson (pilot of the wrecked shuttle), S1GN4L, and now Rabbit sharing the bathroom cell.||
ada i must know
did he lose the flamethrower when he structured
Negative. Just the boarding leash.
||The uuuh... potential of amputation only after mission 1 seems a bit... Of a big step? Seems quite heavy off the bat :P||
Ada with that wild subject matter, love to see it and glad to see player vibes with it
@thorn hinge Almost forgot - sorry to bother, but Vex has pointed me your way for deets on || what a player accidentally getting revived by the Mission 2 Fire Gate will witness on the 'other side' ||
In my heart, this is canon. If any of my players manage to ask him that, I will either have him instantly disconnect the call or attempt to leave the room he is in or both
Good morning

Just got sent this about Jerry
Also got sent this
You're not wrong, and while it wasn't my idea I'm still at least somewhat to blame. The GM and the player are both players in my game. The GM (plays Calamity Havok) is a glutton for angst and has been for a while, where as the player (Pear Bradford's) was very tenative about the idea. As my game went on though he found himself enjoying the drama of Calamity's arc and wanted more spicy stories himself.
Now, as I understand it, they're not going to play this too hard for angst in that game. The character is a huge Sparri woman, and she's going to practically laugh it off with "eh, I'll get a cool robot hand when we get home, no worries". She met Mikaela.omdf and wants to get herself a bear claw. The real fun is ||making the phantom hand burn in the night and give her fever dreams of fire birds|| later.
Ah valid, if the PC can laugh it off then it's just a cool story, +being haunted by a paracausal fire bird/god is not a normal tale at a bar so if they can tell that story well, go ham >:D
No apologies needed I look forward to pings here, especially if it's another chance to talk about the stuff in my game. :3
First post is just backstory for why I did this at all. Second post will be what happened inside. I know I can go on for a bit lmao.
Chapter 4, I went a bit off script and turned one small moment into an entire session. ||Vorshungsmotor was more than just a looping series of simulations of the day the SRT was formed, the players were separated and thrown through around 20 different simulations. The one simulation most relevant here: We ran a small scene of a timeline where Calamity Havok turned on Andros first, and took control of the Hell Hounds. Which means she's the one who had to dea with Ignatius, and agree to go find the Tachyon. She's the one who arrives out of bolt as the SRT are escaping with the power core. She did battle with them, the original SRT (Switch, Howl, Nautius, Johan) and when she picked up a fallen flamethrower it exploded in her hands. She died in flames, hearing the scream of a bird of prey.||
Later at the tail end of chapter 4, ||Annabelle Mckenzie died in her arms. Calamity's lover, lost decades ago, came out to the long rim to find her, failed, got angy at an indifferent and cruel universe, and joined the cult. She changed her name to Annabelle McKenzie (Calamity's original name was Annabelle, this was chosen by the PC LONG before they knew about this npc), became a lightcaster, and ended up in boltzmann. Unlike the book, the team did not get to her in time. They got to talk for a few moments before the end. ||
And then finally at the end of chapter 5: ||I did the big reveal of Andros, her former boss, rival, and frequent subject of nightmares, and she didn't care. All she saw was the magic ball of fire that brough a dead man back to life. So she ignored him, and dove into the fire gate. ||
And second post, the part you're actually asking about:
||After going into the fire gate, I started combat. Calamity was not on the field at all, and we played the first round out. Start of round two I switched back to Calamity. I described the sensation of being in pure void, no feeling of the controls or even her own body. It's not just "can't see your hand in front of your face" void, but she can't feel her hand if she tries to touch her face. She called out to Harmony, her NHP (who, by the way, was not happy about this plan but decided "fuck it lets ride"), and got no response. "Aw, fuck."||
||She has no sense of how long it took, just that suddenly she had a sensation again. Heat. Heat and light, slowly building around her, growing until it reached impossible levels, but there was no pain. She was surrounded by flames, like seeing the roiling surface of the sun, or flames on the underside of a burning roof, bubbling and dancing. She was aware that she was in the presence of someone. Now, Calamity's player went into this scene knowing how it would happen mechanically with the game, and knowing what would happen when she comes out, but they had NO IDEA about what was actually going to go down inside the fire gate. She was prepared to argue, to fight, to bargain, to beg. The player told me I could give just about any possible deal and Calamity would take it, but I had something more interesting planned.||
||Feather communicates in concepts that resolve, some as words in Calamity's mind, some as emotions that she suddenly feels but knows aren't her own. When she tries to announce herself, she's hit with emotions of recognition, warmth, and... love. And the words in her mind derail everything for her. "Calamity Havok, my champion". She then felt approval, victory, gratitude. "Your service has earned you a boon, what do you desire?". Calamity explained that she wants Aveline back, and Feather asked her to describe Aveline, and how she was lost.||
||Calamity's description was how Feather would find her in her timeline, and how the player responded there would determine "which" Aveline she got back. Without much detail, Feather could well grab her from an entirely different timeline, with too much specificity about how she ended, Feather might be led to Aveline's last moments and she'd come out needing medical attention (I wasn't going to have her just die there again though, that'd be dumb). Calamity was fairly specific but didn't describe her death in any detail, which was probably perfect. The flames suddenly were replaced with that void again, and then in a blink she was on Boltzmann. Aveline, Annabelle McKenzie, was in front of her in a liquid that was starting to crystalize around her hardsuit. CAUSTIC was there, and several revenants, but time stood still. Aveline couldn't speak. Calamity reached out, and the moment she touched Aveline... They were back in her cockpit, steping out of the fire gate.||
even trying to be brief I hit the character limit anyway lmao.
ada dont write a short story challenge (impossible) /jk
you say jk but it tru
Holy shit, you’ve given me a lot to work with here, thanks a lot. || I’m definitely going to give the player the strong impression that they well, died. Probably basically feeling themselves die only for the void to hit, and Feather to bring them back without much explanation beyond calling them “her champion” and that “they still have work to do”. They were plucked out from the very moment before their death, and “brought back”.
I might add a bit to Versehungsmotor in which the team experiences flashes of timelines where they, and other NPCs, are the ones on the Tachyon, hinting more at what’s happened. ||
So im setting up IGF for my friends on foundry, figured this would be the best place to ask
should most of these be empty?
#lancer-vtt would probably be the better place since I think this is more of a general foundry question
that said, i'm assuming those are the default item compendiums that come with the lancer system? i believe most of them should have stuff in them, my only empty ones are quirk, faction, and organization.
well it took longer than i'd have liked but ive successfully made the maps for all of Mission 1
bit basic, yeah, but ive never used this damn map software before so
I think the base of the maps are good but good all do with a touch up adding more dense cover
Ya think? I was worried about having too much cover and making the map overwhelming...
Ye, if you look at the sample images for the map creator they have decent amounts of cover. The official maps for various adventures are quite dense. Whereas ur maps have lots of open space. If fighting happens in those areas it could be potentially less engaging for shooty people and harder for melee characters to move up with little cover
Denial of service here has good large line of sight blocking terrain, but once hostiles get onto the same points... there's nothing to hide behind on the point and leading up to the points
I assume it's denial of service
out of curiousity would you say this is a good amount for "A Face to a Name"
Rather than massive patches of small terrain like you've added since the first pic. Lots of smaller scattered around works in the emptier areas works. For example size 1 cover being a small 1×1 block and many of them scattered around. Some size 2, 2×2 basically taking up the same footprint as a mech of the same size. But this doesn't mean you cant have large areas of size 1, like a size 1 platform that's 2×4 but I try to think of and give purpose to them and reason for them to be there for the map or gameplay reasons.
I recommend looking at how other maps scatter their terrain and stuff. And though it is an in golden flame map, if you want better advice on how to make a better lancer map for play the lancer map maker forum will provide other good examples of maps https://discord.com/channels/426286410496999425/1170862899418386603
Also has other examples:
https://discord.com/channels/426286410496999425/1216805351488356353
And there's also the gm corner which have good advice for how to make good maps. So if you want better in depth map knowledge posting there is a good idea
But this forum is still a good place to post maps to share. So please do :D
I hate the fact I can't search this particular thread for a keyword :<
Oh my god I can't fuckin wait to run Chapter 2.
It's like entering a new region in a video game and being like "Ooh! I wanna do that! And that! And that! And that! And that! And that! And--"
yeah lmao
Unfortunately, one of my players had to drop, but there's plenty of time between the end of Chapter 1 to the first combat of Chapter 2 to introduce and onboard a new player.
Poking in after having bought this module yesterday.
It's weirdly validating to see all but 4 of the inspirations in this pdf are things I'm familiar with, on top of Vex's lancer meme shitposts being on brand for my trend of humour, all I can think is 'she's just like me fr fr'
Plans are being made to launch this at [indeterminate future time] with my own rpg group. Brain is hype.
So first igf session went well! We've got the rejected Scion of a wealthy family, a military deserter, an old demolitions worker and a hacker who's dipped a toe into Horus and liked it.
They had their first day in the shithole, the poor hacker and deserter got attacked by vent crabs.
They had some parts bust mid lunch shift and had to rush in to fix them.
Jerry calls them in and one of them attempts to do the old "hide behind a door, jump out go boo"
Had a roll off. They got a nat 1 and jerry just hit them with a left hook.
There was much crying and apologies.
Then was ||Snack run. After a failed attempt to rizz up the sails rep, they successfully bluffed him using their "gamer RuneScape haggling skills". Their words not mine. They got the discount and fought the pirates||
They had a solid fist combat. Not too much of a squeeze with only a single structure loss. RPGs were used. They captured a hellhound and got info on ||Andros||. Seems they're gearing up for a boss fight.
Next session I piss them off with || signal and ideally scare the piss outta em with Andros||
Oh and downtime!
The hacker met striga while cubbying! He got his hands on a stash of moonshine and also has her attention. He's... a lil bit worried about that. The Scion performed a stock scam (barter downtime action i think?) to get a buggy which we have now named the bug-gatti because due to a high roll and jokes about steele. The deserter also went cubbying and friggin nailed it with a nat 20. Took jerrys blood pressure down a good chunk.
And the demolitions worker... well he got shitfaced with Printloaf. They now have matching tattoos!
Let us know if you need any help with prep and ideas
We're all just peeps that love the module and try to contribute in our own ways
Yeye
I've been perusing the collective docs for maps/tokens, and can basically run this to mission 3, and will be trying to handmake maps beyond that with the mapmaking tool I found.
Looking forward to read what happens in your campaign!
Right, took Al's suggestion, added some more small cover for Denial of Service + Spitting Distance, thoughts? DOS is 30x30, Spitting is 40lx30w
oh? what tool, if ya dont mind me asking?
Also I've known Jerry for all of half a day. [Remainder of B99 meme]
I like the use of the rocks as asteroid cover.
1 sec
yeah its the closest thing besides the actual asteroids you can get in the Interpoint map maker
Roll20, my partner made a robot pack for it
ahhh okay okay
as someone using that for foundry, dont make the mistake i did
it was a STRUGGLE to get it to line up
I do not know what foundry is
its a VTT
has a lot more customizability than Roll20 afaik but it's also more technical
i like it for LANCER cause it has built in comp/con integration
Sometimes hiding behind space rocks is the play. Even better if you mech got the leg strength to kick it towards an enemy
https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/set/29529/whimsical-robots these are the robots I have for use (yes ots a shameless plug)
i respect shameless plugs
seriously tho my partner draws great tiny robots and amazing big robots
Ohey she did post them here, rad #the-gallery message
Does anyone by chance have a png of the dragons tooth? Tryna make one myself but was wanting to see if anyone else had one already 👀
Been looking for a transparent image of it as well
Why you got to ask for that when I'm not at my home PC and on holiday in the UK! 😔
Nice
yoink, thanks pally
double yoink, thanks shrimpin!
Coming in late, but I have a higher res one, and some tokens I made from that forever ago (the stroke helps at smaller resolutions)
Followed Ada's guide and used the FIGMA template someone mentioned earlier to get my landing page up and running :D
Its fully interactable too
I am very very happy with it even though it took all day to do 😭
oh hey im using that too!
if: yes
when: no
Oh hey. Glad others are getting use out of my landing page template.
I love that everyone loves Jerry so much.
jerry is the homie
we just want jerry to be happy
hmm, horrible slashfic idea: Jerry/Disco Elysium's horrific necktie
Hey, so we know Howl's NPC loadout, but what's her actual loadout for the case of describing her matches in Chapter 2?
||I saw a nailgun, so I'm assuming there's some Vlad in there?||
ill be honest i kind of just dont assume that any NPCs are using the licensing system the same way PCs are 😅
Hi, I adore the module, and I ran the first two chapters without reading much ahead. I've finally read the whole book now, and have a couple questions.
||Why did Switch adopt a real person's identity, instead of just picking a new name like everyone else in the Long Rim? Especially since if someone did connect them to the historic Ipswitch DeLacey, their age wouldn't make sense anyway.||
||What's the deal with Gun Brother Ten and the Guardian Angel reserve in the Appendix? Did I miss a reference somewhere else in the book? Is it meant to be a teaser for act 2?||
A: ||I suspect that Switch did this before becoming aware of Calliope's cultural norms and then it was too late to back out.||
B: ||More of this is elaborated upon in future acts yeah, or at least Vex has alluded to it.||
You can treat the Reserve as a kind of NPC teaser, where they get it from is up to you (there's always plenty of ways to get reserves)
to the first question: ||my read is that they were following some HA handbook on undercover/deep cover ops, which are not written with places in mind that don't care about who you were before you got there||
Wider Union cultural awareness of Calliope comes, at least in part, from Switch's streams which are not a resource Switch themself was able to draw upon before moving there.
Hah, that's a great point!
This is likely it, but it might not even be necessary. Switch ||had access to PHASE//SHIFT's reports and knew about Ipswitch being lost, and they planned their escape well in advance. They might well have found references to Calliopean culture but they've got a healthy level of professional paranoia; going a bit farther to hide who they are means they're just that much less likely to be found. Nobody would think that they stole the identity, because nobody would think someone would need to steal an identity here.||
Shit I got to make a landing page
How does it… uh, work?
VTT agnostic, or does it require foundry?
I just made mine an image and set it as the "map" so it works on any vtt
some are interactive but idk how to do that 😔
@thorn hinge has a guide here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1_E_cjfnrUFHm1ThzyXG9ak0SqfAYI8uPd_ScSrn4oZ4/edit#heading=h.89roc9o9613s
Dang
the basic idea is, you use active tiles in foundry to trigger scene transitions if someone clicks on them; you can set it up as an old-school web 1.0 web page using those tools
(note "like" a web page; it would be so much easier if one could use html to do this stuff but alas, it's a lot of tedious clicking through foundry dialogs one has to get through)
A thought: It must be really easy for trans people in Calliope to change their names.
Every system built for tracking people in Calliope would need to be designed with people adopting a Temporary name at 18, and then also adopting a new name later, in mind.
calliope strikes me as a much less .... i dunno, data-driven? society
it's more like small village rules everywhere; identity is determined by a more holistic view of you rather than a string of data in a db somewhere
oh no i get that. but there will still be systems that do exist and those that do will likely be constructed with that in mind. and people would be used to it too
I think this is likely intentional 😅
i wouldnt be surprised
building encounters and npcs for UTH, decided to have fun with our first enemy
Explaining the Joke: ||Lu Bu's horse was named Red Hare. Hares belong to the Lagomorph family. Hence. Crimson Lago(morph)||
Okay wait I'm very confused on where
Some of the resources are to be found in the guide. They mentioned folders but all I can find is the spreadsheet so I'm not sure which folders to look for in there. I'm also not sure where to find this figma template.
And I want to make sure this is foundry right?
Yup its foundry
I followed the guide for the knowledge on how to do things but a lot of the resources I got from the figma template / found online
let me grab the link for ya
You copy this and then make changes to the stuff, then you can export each individual page as a png and set it as the background for the scene
Where did you find all of the planet images?
That's in the google drive provided from ada :D its in the pinned resources document under status page / landing page / campaign environment
there should be a planets folder in there
Ah got it!
notably theyre webm's which the monks active tile trigger thing does support
you just have to put them as the image for the trigger itself
and then they'll be animated and stuff!
here we have the names for ||Combat 2 Shoo the Vultures|| where my brain latched onto a gimmick and said 'run with it'
and will definitely not be sad if the PCs ||do the other combat||
Yes. Yessssss. My Landing Page’s popularity grows
hell yeag
Make sure to grab the Ernie’s Modern UI mod as well. So you can change up the UI coloration to better fit the Landing Page theme, if you end up rolling with this green meanie.
...... Wait I'm looking through the resource spreadsheet, are there no maps for missions 4 or 5 yet?
It looks like most of the different resource folders in there only go to mission 3
I've also run into that same thing
I plan to just use the mapmaking tool for those ones (but if some show up, I will be eternally grateful)
I'll have to keep an eye out and put its start on hiatus until everyone else has been able to get that far
I run RPGs as my paid job so I just don't have the energy I wish I could have to make maps for my personal games 😞
Understandable
(not to say that I expect other people to hurry up or anything, you guys have lives and should take your time on that, and to everyone who is making maps you're all super cool 💚)
I've been prepping as much as i can of mission 1. Got the mission half done in compcon, it's just now the matter of getting the roll20 pages ready
Mission 1 Act 1?
Yeah
Oh good luck! Hope you and your party has fun
It'll be a hot minute since our group is presently playing mutants and masterminds with another player as gm
I do already have 3 character concepts
Player 1 is a flashclone from a community that finds that concept an abomination, and as such, has made herself out to be as much of a warning to others as possible (wearing bells a la old-style medieval executioner)
Player 2 really likes Gundams, so, 'traumatized psychic experiment.pilot' and plans to field a Barbarossa
And player 3 is a recurring pilot, who keeps getting put into cryosleep between campaigns (she's actually gone through two lancer campaigns prior: No Room For A Wallflower, and Sleep Perchance To Dream)
Player 4 is ???
Sounds like some fun opportunities for character moments
I'm just imagining Jerry looking over this union pilot's rap sheet, seeing more redactions than a bad SCP entry and just saying 'fuckit, she's union, I get a discount, and she's either unstable to the point of being more dangerous than Andros, or more experienced than half of Calliope combined. I'm willing to flip that coin'
'Wait she's spent a combined total of how long in the drunk tank?'
CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!!! I SHALL HURRY UP WITH MY MAPS!!!
nodnods
My party is:
An old, scarred mercenary who's seen too much, pretty withdrawn but one of the party's heavy hitters
Some kind of dragon guy from a civilization SSC ginned up as an ad campaign (it's the clans from BattleTech)
A trans of gender crocodile person who's on the run from the KTB - she didn't want to be part of a noble house
A heyna person with gender who's an ex pirate living on the station
A rat person who is waaaaay too normal for the Calliope system
Decided to run a furry campaign a little bit if that wasn't clear x3
Rat rat rat rat rat
Yeah, They're a fun character to play off of
I'm kind of leaning into a Letterkenny sort of vibe for Hell's Gate if you know that show
So straight characters in that are always fun opportunities
😭😭😭😭 hahahaha
Your work is so nice btw 💚
I have my maps for chapters 1-5 up on my folder, but the name in the spreadsheet got mangled. I just fixed it.
Does isometric work with roll20? (Yes it's a kinda stupid question)
(Playergroup has been using roll20 for 10+ years, so learning a new vtt is kinda not in the cards)
Honestly if you can spring for it Forge VTT is super easy to pick up and has really good tools for Lancer, but the answer to your question - I thiiiiiiink so?
And only the GM needs to pay for Forge
'cus I started in Roll20 and that was the first couple of sorties but Forge made prep so much easier and players had it worked out in a session
I've seen people pull it off, I think generally what you have to do is remove the grid lines from your map instances and turn off it like, fixing to grid
Duly noted
There's a "hack" way of doing it by setting roll20 to hex grid but playing with a map that has an isometric square grid on it. Works something like this:
If you want isometric **and **hex grid play, either set roll20 to gridless and count the spaces manually, or swap to Foundry. I recommend Foundry as well. A one time purchase gets you way more functionality than roll20's 100$ per year pro account, and the Lancer system for Foundry is remarkably good. The automation makes the game a breeze to play. Self-hosting is the big barrier, followed by a learning curve that's a little steeper than roll20... but it's built off a lot of roll20's paradigms so it's not hard at all to get started if you're coming from there.
How exactly would you go about setting up isometric and hex grid play on foundry?
Same hack? Or is there a foundry module(?) for it?
Install the Grape Juice Isometrics module in foundry (straightforward, foundry has a modules browser and it's one search and click)
Set scene to hex grid, then set the scene to isometric. Done.
BET
Then if you're like me, install dozens of other modules, mod it till it breaks, then drink deeper and descend into making your own mods, and end up presenting a wildly customized experience for the players that only sometimes falls apart.
(it's very stable in general, I just push everything beyond it's limits)
Confirmed, Ada is cascading
No more than usual.
I'm sure she's fine.
so one of my players is playing an ex-hell hound
this is going
to be fun
a hell hound who was involved in the Impact Dynamics strikebreak, at that :)
Ive sent them some lore blurbs they'd know, and am deeply looking forward to "A Face To a Name"
bear in the mind they didnt pick this knowing about act 1 being, rather involved w/ Hell Hounds
they said "hey i wanna be an ex pirate" I said "cool, sunlighter or moonlighter?" "sunlighter""cool, heres the 4 most influential pirate groups, pick one or make one on your own and send it my way" "ill take the hell hounds" "you sure" "yeah" "heres some lore and also a blurb from vexes blog about how much of a shithead capella is" "still gonna do it" "aight"
I have a map for CH4, but then I upgraded to Foundry 10 to do isometric stuff, and could no longer export the maps as images directly from Foundry because the API for that broke
I've been meaning to do a bunch of exports directly from Foundry, but 2 of the other 4 I have require assets that I don't have the right to distribute (one from a paid asset pack, and one from the game Starsector) I guess I could create a version of one of them without the Starsector assets
wait, I never uploaded that one!
(ok it's uploaded now)

My only exposure to Letterkenny (so far) has been this
Same
Here's a probably stupid question.
Obviously red text spots are meant to be read out loud, verbatim as cool setpiece moments.
What about black text? Vibes-based exposition?
Red text is read text; its either character lines or narration. Black text is information for the GM, for which they can use their discretion as to how they present it.
I mean, its all discretion, its your game to run as you choose, but that's the intent at least.
Maybe my reading comprehension is bad cause:
|| the only mention I spotted of what the focal array is being used for is in the opening black text, and the conclusion||
||Nyambose talks about it plenty, check the aftermath for Send in the Clowns||
I'll double check that, thanks
Can I also just say, these combat mission names fuck?
oh, wow, okay, there it is, plain as day. ||The 'why' but not the 'why'||
lett it be known, for the record, that I can't read.
there's also blue text, which is very funny
we don't talk about blue text
The blue text is there to make the GM afraid
other variants of 'the sere is a dummy'
||Having flipped through and processed the assorted setpieces and such, I noticed that our final boss has several 'custom' pieces of equipment. And at first, I'm confused, because these aren'y showing up in the npc builder as I futz about. Nah turns out, they're just the fancy names for the things they're equipped with in the opening briefing, and all of it is storebrand murder.||
it's my first time running lancer so this is bound to happen.
Player: 'what if we all just took the technophile trait'
Sere: nO
THEY ALL ENTER CASCADE AT ONCE

adding on to this: The reason they left the Hell Hounds is fairly simple:
They like being able to eat.
Hell's Gate, for all it's flaws, tries its best to make sure everyone gets something on their plate
Capella, on the other hand, would throw your food out an airlock just bc you were looking forward to it
ex pirate really said 'see you next tuesday', gave him two middle fingers and jumped ship
Reminder that Vex put in a line about Capella liking taking food away but hating chewing in as an overblown exaggeration only for a certain someone in Romanian jail to tweet the exact same sentiment the next day
sere: 'explain cascading like im five'
player:
I would argue it's analogous to dissociation, though I can't say I've experienced it- basically, enough trauma and you start becoming unglued from reality, except in this case they do literally come unglued from reality and can do things no human person could
That's not to say they become different people, but they react poorly in a case where things are going wildly out of control
There's a part later on in act 1 where the players encounter ||an NHP in deep cascade, and the reaction of its caretaker is as one would treat a relative with Alzheimers or dementia- they don't know what's going on around them||
||Are you talking about Feather or CAUSTIC||
I think cascade is inspired by rampancy in Bungie AIs (see: Marathon, Halos past 2), which I think in turn also inspired System Shock
In this case, ||TRIPLEPOINT, whom CAUSTIC guards||
Specifically I'm talking about the end of ||Mission 4||
I understand most of the story beats at this point, it's now a matter of reading through them in more detail to internalize characters/details/vibes.
Okay so I have more data on the 'experimental psychic pilot'
which is to say, Harrison Armory told them 'We will pay you to look after this pilot and her handler, and ask zero questions'
Which means a free payday for Jerry
Psychotic you say...empath?
Yes
to quote 'I piled four cyber newtype characters into one, so that I could run the Psycho Gundam Barbarossa'
Eyyyy. I'm not the only one in Calliope now
Well empath now the cyber new type
That's our cat girl player.
||And yes I read the chapter 3 blurb about a Barbarossa||
Okay, I now have the (potential) roster of intended mechs
Goblin, Pegasus, Manticore, Barbarossa
'Three Artilleries and a Goblin sounds like the name of a Sitcom'
Throw in a melee unit that dives in just for the funny
Mikaela.omdf is that you?
Now I just miss Mooncusser(my vlad)
It underwent three names: Shitkicker -> Paint Scraper -> Mooncusser
nice, my groups current plan is
Drake, Goblin, Tortuga, Zheng, and one of em hasnt decided yet
Ah, I see they too enjoy the nature and mystery of the Mind Goblin
Mind Goblin deez nuts
Funny you mention her, she's good friends with our cat girl player because they became one thanks to Mikaela's recommendations
Mind you my character was already bunny woman
my group has an experimental psychic with empath but they're also very like, sceptical about anyone having "weird magic powers" and treat what they can do (manifesting shadow doubles of themselves in hostile cockpits using Orator) as completely normal and understandable science
You too?
they're also friends with Mikaela who basically ignored their aura of intimidation because they wanted to find out where they got their cool antlers from
Oh my god, finally someone is on my level. I bullied a PC into accepting a French Canadian background since they didn't come up with an Asphodelian hometown fast enough. Sant Lawrence is one of four quebecois outlander settlements on Asphodel in my game and the rest of the outlander population has Ontario accents.
oh hey in a dif game one of my players was from the homebrewed planet of "Emerald Eye, Sel" (emerald isle)
i should probably actually watch letterkenny
I haVE TOO much power in my map making 😩
Sponsored by Raid Shadow Legends
||not me fighting the urge to make the token for the Bastion in SITC Pixelated Shrek||
||I have a player in my game sponsored by Impact dynamics, they've been shilling them for nearly all of mission 2||
||Please tell me that lowered hype during Killer Sound||
||No, the contract wasn't in effect then||
||This is their contract:
- every time you deal structure with an ID gun, you must brag about how good the weapon is
- If you attack with another weapon that isn't ID you must apologise and show off how much worse it is cannot eat non-ID food on stream
- If the weapon is destroyed the rest of the stream must be an apology
This lasts until the end of the next mission
They got the Marksman rifle from it||
||Thing is, IF they uphold the contract, Steele will find out at the dome and flush the person who made the contract out the airlock and break the contract... I mean... They still have the gun AND the print code...||
||The person who reached out was called "Ay Sellsman" too||
Thank
My player made an impact dynamics logo, if you’re interested
Wouldn't mind... 👀
I'm embracing naming themes for each mission, even if they're all wildly disparate (in order to indicate that these are subsquads in each faction)
Thusfar we have:
||- Spitting Distance: The Arsenal, led by CR1MSON L4G0 (All named after assorted weapons)||
||- Shoo The Vultures: The Bad Hand, led by R0Y4L FLU5H (Each member has a name analogous to card suits)||
||- Denial of Service: S1GN4L's Squad (All named after types of signals)||
||- A Face To A Name: Andros' Personal Dogs (Assorted Greek/Hound adjacent names)||
TYSM >:D
Beautiful
I've been cooking...
Mission 3:
||STEELE DOME
BOUGHT TO YOU BY
IMPACT DYNAMICS||
Thank you so much for the logo Trent :D
||The road leads off the bottom of the screen just goes on for a couple meters before the road just stops... There's not any more infrastructure there for it to connect to||
I just realised, the brief says the mission takes place ||IN the makeshift operations tower... I instead made the tower at tthe top and made the combat happen around the tower... Oops||
I’d also put something like a thick black outline around the letters of the logo to make them easier to read.
I think it's fine as is, the logo at least. Like it's meant to be decor as part of the map rather than something that's meant to be legible if that makes sense
Wow that's really good - how'd you make it?
I think I did the same thing
Inkarnate pro, Good map maker. Pro users now have access to Sci fi assets in a beta
||its fine they'll have hte whole next mission to play around indoors||
Tru
||My mental image of roadblock funnily enough was identical the layout you made yours... But my image for BAD STAR fight is... I was planning open but I feel like LOTS of walls and cover is ESSENTIAL for an utlra breacher to ram through them||
oh yeah I only made mine really tiny because my PCs weren't entering it as a kind of "real" encounter (it was literally just the ultra with no backup)
||he did manage to immobilise himself by ramming through one of the exploding canisters though||
Haha that's funny
||Perfectly fits for Bad star||
||"and Bad Star, he-... yep! Right into the wall!"||
yeah it was exactly like that
Writing scene special rules at the side... This is ESSENTIAL
My pleasure. I'll extend your gratitude to Morgan. She does good work.
And pity to the person who'd even suggest he'd make a mistake. It was on purpose! Because it was bought, purchased, paid for by Impact Dynamics. It's a reminder that even you, like this road his company's glorious logo is emblazoned on, can be bought and tred upon.
one of my players has been repeatedly blocking NPCs from contacting her and she got very annoyed that Steele's screens and loudspeakers were external to the mech and she couldn't just press a button to shut them out
I read it as ||a makeshift Ops center that is located at the base of the tower|| myself.
Alright, session for the day over. Lotta progress made.
Mission 3 spoilers
||So, we finished up the talk with Canaan this session, with the party doing exceptionally well convincing them that they know what they're doing. 17, 27, 25 were the final rolls. So, Canaan's fully on board, now the party gets to explore furnace city and get help on their journey.||
||Nyasuka, the party's resident catgirl streamer (and founder of the humanitarian organization Hell's Kitchen [Get Organized is a great downtime action]) decides to secure some supplies, and manages to get a Supply Crawler so the party will be able to full repair during their run, meeting Mechanic Temporary in the process. Nyasuka suggests Perl as a name for Temporary - he says he'll consider it.||
||The party come across Ignatius Aurum, and listen to his sermon (players really enjoyed hearing me do it). Nyasuka elects not to take the offer to speak with him, but Mulligan (95%+ robotic hacker, has multiple NHPs rattling around in his head, slightly insane) and Sisyphus (clone of some random guy, grew up on a planet full of junk, most of his personality is from old cowboy movies. heard Camus' the Myth of Sisyphus once and has taken it as his life philosophy) decide to hear out Ignatius' offer. After some talking, insight into Ignatius' character (sincerely regretful over the harm caused on the Icebreaker, but believes it necessary), they decide to reject his offer of help||
||Sisyphus (aforementioned 24/7 spaghetti western cowboy larper) goes and gets the party a navigator - finds a prospector in a dive bar who was willing to help out for some cash. One nav token. Then, after regrouping with the party, 8 goons from the Burning Forge show up, surround the party, and tell them that The Blacksmith wants to talk.||
||They go along without starting anything, and have a conversation with The Blacksmith. Mulligan and Sisyphus are all for his offer, while Nyasuka is hesitant to accept but eventually does.||
||Mulligan decides to solve the problem of the Orbital Laser. His first plan is to call up S1GN4L and get him to deal with it - however, S1GN4L doesn't pick up when Mulligan calls. Looking into it, S1GN4L hasn't been seen on the Muse for weeks. Concerning. At the suggestion of Nameless, his Unstable NHP, he calls Striga. Striga's all for it: she's been meaning to visit Impact Plaza for a while - she wanted to investigate a rumor about them growing a bishop in a vat (a bishop of what religion? great question.) and this is a good chance to do that.||
||Right before the party sets out, they're approached by a young outlander, bearing an invitation from The Crone. They accept - of course they do.||
||The party sets out across Asphodel's surface towards the Steel Dome - and their first stop along the way is an abandoned village occupied by a certain Thief. They catch up to him, and quite a few words are exchanged. The Blacksmith doing work for SSC is revealed, which he confirms when Nyasuka calls him. In the end, the Thief is unable to convince the party to stand down - his story has a few to many inconsistencies, and they can tell he's still hiding something. We end our session with the Thief's cockpit closing, as he readies himself to fight for his life.||
Session summary and Mission 3 spoilers end here
Al my friend, im legally requiring you to tell me what you use for map making
They're on Inkarnate Pro iirc
sobs yet another item i must pay for.....
being the only gm in a friendgroup is expensive yall /lh
ms paint scribbles are valid maps
true
but would you say Inkarnate is worth it, Al?
ive got the money to get it im just worried it wont be that good lol
Yes: If you like making maps and want them to look good. I love it just cos I like going extra, making them busy and coming out with a work of art at the end. It is a subscription tho... so depending if you want monthly or yearly depends on if its time limited. It also does fantasy, region maps and parchment maps if those interest you
I've been using inkarnate for... about... oh fuck 4 years? on and off, the new assets look great and new tools from the beta really help cos they're so good but that's because I've been using Inkarnate since I started dnd in 2020
i use dungeondraft but thats also a paid tool
i did mostly use mspaint and a bit of photo editing when i was running d&d though it works fine
really the important part is visibly separating terrain and if anything making a map out of cool assets often makes that less clear
okay....i shall pay for my sins (being a perfectionist and wanting my players to compliment my map making)
But, like any other tool or software you will get better over time and be able to look back and know how your maps could have been better. The maps I'm making for IGF I think are my nest
So true 😩
i mean tbh i need a new one anyways bc again
currently im using fuckin
Interpoint's
which doesnt play nice w/ foundry
the interpoint tool is nice for the clear delineation of assets
I'm surprised it can't play nice with foundry though, I would have thought you'd just need to figure out a fairly consistent set of pixel offsets
thats the issue, Interpoint maker hex isnt a proper hex like Foundry uses
Yes, this is so true! I include my foundry setups for my maps because to me it's clear what something was meant to be, what size etc but then it isn't clear once I've finished. So on the drive I'm also uploading "this is how I set it up with cover"
the cover outlines are very much appreciated btw even if you use different colors for each size than i do
see ATM ive only got the first 3 combat maps made
was told to add more cover so i had re-done them, this is the current
i dont upload a screenshot of my foundry setup because im such a strong believer in death of the author that giving any sort of hint of my intention would be a sin (/jk)
the idea for "a face to a name" is that some of the valves had already exploded, and are now venting hot air into the area (soft cover, entering the area = 1 burn)
Inkarnate is also a tad wack with hexes... I made a horribly jank setup, I made a map which fits the same maps as the dustgrave proportions and just have to duplicate it every time I make a new map so I don't have yo remake the foundry setup every time
also i very intentionally tune what height i set everything to around a party where 3/4 of the players can fly and that probably isnt going ot be the same for other groups
Like vantage points n such?
i mean out of my 5 players
5 have spaceborn
Damn
and lots of 2-or-3 height intervals which would be much more of a pain for a mostly-on-foot party
they all, INDIVIDUALLY told me
"oh were starting on a space station? Okay, I guess Spaceborn makes sense"
al.....could you send that to me somehow? ive been fighting to get it set up right for 2 hours ;-;
Finally finished Chapter 2! My group is very happy to get their LL2 frames and some fun stuff happened
|| One of the group, whose mech was destroyed in Thermopylae, kind of uh, died, as the Fire Gate exploded. Dr. Harper Halloween, AKA "Care Bear", a dentist-turned-gunslinger, was 'resurrected' on accident by Feather's powers, and joined Anti-Capital at the start of the 3rd round with no time to explain. Speaking of which, the combat really came down to the wire - by the end of the combat, all but one of the team's mechs were destroyed. One of the team members - Faith's Crest, AKA "Vigil", a preacher of the mainstream Faith of the One, really committed, believing that the "Faith" they were fighting were besmirching the religion's name, or agitators from outside it. In the end though, only Dante, AKA "Scraps", the group's plucky hot-headed outlander kid, was the last standing and took down Sunbird 1.
Afterwards, assessed the damage, and had successfully completed with investigations. Rita was very happy with them, Faith's Crest is stressed and confused, and the gang got to chat around with their connections a bit more. They learned about Odin Valentinian, asking Loki about things after wondering if there might be a connection between these much-smaller-than-average blink gates and the kid with the teleporting mech. They're already not fans of the guy, of only cause Loki isn't either lmao.
Had one of the crew - Dante - compete in Hellfire League, coming out with 4 segments on the clock filled already. It was a great scene cause the player had noted Dante as a huge fan of the sport, not knowing he'd actually get to compete. Orlan Brack, AKA "Blacksmith", a former member of the Burning Forge who didn't get to choose his nickname being the same as his former boss, and designated "team dad" is helping get the militia in shape. The team did a bit more shopping and one found the picture of The Crone, which is fun. ||
|| Lastly, on Hell's Gate, Raxus, AKA "Racket", the team's mute sigdiver, is getting close to Switch, in part because they're also really invested in whatever happened to the NHP on the Tachyon, even confiding more details about to Switch to try and get Horizon's help. As far as they know, that NHP module means there's a rogue NHP out there somewhere, and it's best that Horus doesn't get their hands on it. Switch, meanwhile, was of course very freaked out by all the HA stuff of course, but the team hasn't made any connections yet.
Looking forward to seeing how they handle themselves on Asphodel! ||
Oh, wanted to add re: nicknames something fun we did: Instead of people choosing their own callsigns, we had the rest of the team choose that person’s callsign in our Session 0 planning. Though the person got final say on if they allowed it, ofc.
Supposed to be a reflection of how you really don’t get to choose your own nickname most of the time lmao
That’s how our party got the name - Shelly threatened them that if they didn’t have a name to put on the press release she’d name them. Somebody said “the gatewatch” and two people somehow both misheard it as beefwatch, and I decided that was a conversation that happened both in-game and in front of Shelly. They are now called the beefwatch
I auto turn off ping replies so here you go @rare escarp
SUPER appreciated, ty checks pronouns Monarch
friends opinions for this map for "A Face to a Name"?
Looking good, I'd try shift the cover around so it lines up better with the hexes so you don't get awkward bits where some of the shipping containers are half way between two hexes
also can i just say my players accidentally cooked me up a delicious meal to use against them w/ their characters
we've got
1: a vat-grown (off the books) SSC-subsidiary "companion" who escaped
2: An orphaned kid who has augmented himself to hell and back bc at birth he was glass bones and paper skin levels of fucked (Hell's Gate native)
3: An NHP named Wize trying to find god/achieve nirvana
4: A former Hell-Hound who participated in the Impact Dynamics strike break
5: A former member of that same SSC-subsidiary who had been researching biological weaponry before blowing a bunch of shit up and going AWOL
3 is neat for obvious reasons
1 and 5 dont know the connection in their backstory, neither they nor the players
2 became an orphan because of said strike break, during which 4 may or may not have killed his parents
2 is being paid by 1's adoptive father to keep them safe
they gave me the weapons to use against them >:)
Thanks for the advice as always Al!
Hell yeah! Looking good
Nhp finding god: you'll find one soon enough
yup
They don't even know the premise of IGF
thats the fun part
they've accidentally set me up with a pile of d r a m a
loll
I love your team so much! That's a delightful number of levers they left dangling for you. I have a former Hellhound too (Calamity Havok) so hit me up if you have questions about things to do with that. I also had two players who are SSC-vat kids, though one was grown on commission for some Karrakin nobles. Independently both players gave their characters white hair and similar faces, and they didn't even realize the connection until it came up in game.
all of our players ended up giving us excellent ammunition for us to fuck with them
Lucky. I really wanted one of my players to make a former hell hound for the drama potential. Alas, they pivoted and ended up making a Gate Wrenchie, born and raised, instead.
Yeah I'm doubling down, it was bought to you by ||Steele just to show off how fucking rich he is||
My favorite part of that logo is that it’s the impact font
So my group is currently at the end of Mission 1, and things have not gone according to plan in the last fight. Looking through past discussion of this last fight, it seems most groups have just wiped the floor with the boss. I'm wondering if I missed something or if it was just a combo of bad strategy and bad luck on their side. ||We ended last session midway through the fight. They came in with almost full structure and stress. Now, they have one mech that melted down (rolled a 9 on heat for an unwise overcharge, then double 1s on the stress check), one that was destroyed (crit on a boarding leash attack led to a direct hit on 2 structure remaining followed by a failed hull check), and three solidly damaged members. Enemy team is an undamaged Capella, undamaged Support and a Breacher on its last legs. They ignored the latch drone despite a scan that revealed what it did and just got hit by flamethrower after flamethrower while the latch undid what little damage they threw Capella's way. The firebreak shield seems really strong, granting soft cover as well as the 50% miss chance, and it negated multiple ranged attacks they tried. ||
I think most groups end up having a comolungma and a heavy charged blade. Those two things absolutely mess up pyros. Otherwise it is just bad luck, and the best part is that you are absolutely allowed to lose combats in igf. The only combat so far where a lose = death is|| the rematch against Capella ||
My SRT had both a chomolungma and multiple charged blade users, it just never came together as they got distracted by other enemies
It's a good thing the plot will go on, but they're quite demoralized
Currently running Roadblock.
Steele's goons have, so far, missed most of their attacks
Just can’t get good help these days.
I've learned that my tentative launch for my own group's IGF is just over two months away, and mech choices have already pivoted. Save for the Barbarossa. ||Yay||
Crafting a good character backstory is giving a bunch of knives to your GM and going "please, stab me"
'Oh wow, are you getting out all this thread to weave a beautiful narrative?'
':)'
Have you got any melee players, specifically with a charged blade or heavy charged? ||Those are especially good against Pyros because melee attacks ignore cover, and the pyro mostly uses Firebreak+Armor to be especially tanky, both of which the charged blades ignore.||
They can also get around the Firebreak specifically by ||flanking it, since it has to be drawn as a line||
Typically, enemies in Lancer are really scary if you let them do what they want to do, but if they aren't able to do that, they get in real trouble really quick
The enemy magic player cannot construct their rubix cube of death of you bring a hammer down on it.
Addendum Added Later in A Panic: 'On the cube On the cube!'
Speaking of Mission 3: ||Roadblock||
chuckles ||You telling me that the barricade can place two size 2 cubes? That combined area width of 4? And extrudite is a size 4 area? And the roads are 4 tiles wide? Well sucks to suck buddy because said barricade is ALSO elite||
Also the book said the players should pass through at least ||ONe barricade... So I made the minimum to pass through 4 because funny||
Yep, multiple charged blade users, but they were preoccupied with other foes and Capella got 3 or 4 activations to just sit there and flamethrower them. Ranged folks had ordnance or the rifle talent that roots you in place, so they wanted to use those rather than flank. It all just kind of came together to make a mess for them.
Just hung out with a bunch of IGF players and GMs at a meetup
They should have 1 HP, because it'll suck to shoot something nonvital and not destroy it.
Tru, I think I'm gonna do that
On one hand, it's kinda funnny and Steele can mock you for it.
On the other hand, it's impact dynamics so it shouldn't last longer than a breeze blowing on it
pog, were they cool
Very
i used the 6th one in my maps
tis funny
Thanks again for coming on such short notice!

These will absolutely be used
Me reading IGF and looking over Jerry: 'Alright, I can see the Graham a bit in these and understand the influence'
Me reading the line ||"Oh for fuck's sake"||: Oh. Yep. Yep, there it is
That is cut-to-credits tier comedy there
Are there any news or a blog i can follow for news about Act 2?
#909574961931362365 mostly
that place is dark and full of spoilers
...currently Dustgrave spoilers for some reason
but yeah, the current draft and LCPs for act 2 are both pinned there
Someone pin these
I am aware if these, well atleast I saw them in other maps but not thr assets on their own. I haven't put them into my maps cos the perspective doesn't easily match
they are on the share drive https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1sey9A-ziyWYplct_jVrsyrsY5dLlXlGI?usp=sharing
oh right, Imp, your maps are all top-down (they look very nice)
i was tempted to edit him onto the screens on my maps but ultimatel decided itd be a lot of work and mostly invisible
I wanna run In Golden Flames, but my party is just finishing OSR so they're at LL2, or about to be. How feasible is it to rope them into this module?
As eager as I am to recommend my own module, wrangling characters from OSR into IGF's plot would be... challenging.
I appreciate the warning
And Operation Winter Scar is available in playtest which acts as a direct sequel to OSR
my personal feeling is that having every player be a complete outsider coming into Calliope vs having lived there for some years or grown up there is always going to be a bit of a shame
and also thematically less pleasant
i guess you could have a timeskip :p
maybe they are reassigned to the cruiser stationed in Calliope and then are just there for 5 years babysitting the omninode and settling in because nothing is happening
So how much of IGF's lore are you familiar with
I started reading yesterday. Im measuring my effort until i know i can run it
My players arent all that invested in Cressidium so any excuse is a good one. But i dont wanna ruin the assumptions of IGF without understanding them or having run the module as is before
the difficulty with being a team of outsiders who come into Calliope is that the PCs are sort of intended to have quite close ties to a specific location which isn't part of ThirdComm Union
and there isn't really any reason for any one to go to Calliope with the intention of settling there... really at all, it's a place people mostly end up at when they are trying to escape from something
and personally I think the group that becomes the saviours of the system being a pre-formed team that arrive from outside and fix all the problems feels bad compared to them being "from there" (at least in part, not every PC needs to be)
there's no reason someone else would send in a team of people to aid Calliope essentially until Act 2
these are all solveable problems but you'd probably need to read the book and figure out a solution
Not a problem, i can run something else, Like SSMR
And homebrew the endings of some personal plotlines, before asking for new characters for this module
Do appreciate the heads up
Yall think i need more cover for this Spitting Distance map?
I'm always a proponent of "more terrain" but I might be guilty of putting too much terrain in my maps
(circle size marker = soft cover, square = hard cover)
Theres like 7 space gaps between things. Theres a corner entirely without hard cover. I would sprinkle in some more.
Well, specifically, there is one avenue which would require some amount of wrangling
i put some difficult terrain asteroid areas in my space maps i think until i mostly gave up bothering to map in difficult terrain because all of my players can fly
But in the lore of IGF there's a diasporan planet called Nestor where some Extremely Bad Shit went down which is actually remarkably similar to what transpires in OSR/OWS.
yeah same thats why im not bothering with it
they've all gone Spaceborn talent, so difficult terrain just
doesnt exist in 0G
we decided to run with "let's just not model space maps as working differently to normal maps" but then everyone decided to take flight systems anyway (they are very useful)
Not to spoil OWS but some Very Bad Things happen
yeah see, initially i started by making the uh
Face to a Name Map, which im p happy with
OSW by default has a medium-grade happy ending
it was 90% me figuring out how tf inkarnate scifi worked and its bits and bobs
But it could easily transpire that the PCs just aren't picked for the mission that takes place in OWS
And by dint of NPCs Aren't As Good As PCs, whoever gets picked for it fucks it up real bad and the good ending of OWS doesn't happen
Thus stranding the PCs for years on a hostile world held by fascists
This could then lead to them escaping to Calliope along with refugees, and a big timeskip in realtime terms, if not perceptual
Added some more cover, im worried about it being a bit too overfilled now tho....
Put imaginary snipers in positions which have cover and see what all they can shoot- if it's everything, you can add more to address it
This doesn't look at all too full to me, fwiw
my players are about to meet ||the crone|| and i get the feeling one of the first things they're going to ask is how to find and ransack the cult's HQ (or something similar, like where to find Ignatius Aurum so they can kill him)
what would she say in response to that? i think it would feel a bit lame for her to go "ah, you can't know that yet because the plot teehee" but i'm not sure what she's allowed to say about the cult
i'm assuming the cult just doesn't really have a centralized base of operations
or maybe they do but it's not in calliope and the players have no practical way of getting to it
The cult in Act 1 is set up in ||Fort Cerberus, which your players definitely don't have the firepower to breach until Chapter 5||
||so it's perfectly normal for her to tell them "They are here, but you ain't breachin that."||
ah, that makes sense
also, be sure to spoiler mentions of ||THE CRONE||
Also, never be afraid of ||having her go "I can't answer that right now, pehaps a different question?"||
my experience is that it's very very hard to be overfilled 😅
So long as there's places to stand, you're good.
And if you run with captain morgan rules it's very hard for there not to be places to stand
Brain has latched onto a detail regarding mission 2.
|| The book mentions that if either investigation failed, that things proceed into Powerhouse (or even Getting Railroaded and -then- Powerhouse).
But the bit also says 'without the focal array, the laser cant fire'
So in the event that the array is grabbed, but the gate remains intact, how does this lead to Powerhouse? Secondary array firegated in?||
||getting railroaded nor powerhouse does not happen if the focal array was taken||
||they're part of beat 12 - if you have not completed both of the investigations, then your group is not done with mission 2||
||"completed" in this case means they've done both of these things:
- investigated Zheng Yi Sao and have done Thermopylae/Anti-Capital, destroying the Fire Gate
- investigated the reason the worker's union is striking or solved the printer snafu, and have done Send In The Clowns/Killer Sound, hopefully rescuing Dr. Nyambose and snatching the focal array parts||
||their level of success during these investigations is what determines if you need to run Getting Railroaded and/or Powerhouse||
||if your group has bungled both options, then you will always run those two||
||just note that Anti-Capital will happen as is - there is no real difference between victory and defeat, in terms of usefulness to the cult. the Fire Gate's gone!||
||Beat 12 asks about the status of both investigations, and says that the combat happens if one of the the three conditions (fire gate active, nyambose captured, focal array retrieved by cult) is true.
I am talking about the hypothetical where thermopylae was failed (meaning no Sunbird to break the gate), but Killer sound was a success (meaning the cult has no array)||
||ah, likely they'll be still attempting to fire the array. it's said that "Realizing they’ve been discovered, the Mictlan Team goes into overdrive, crippling the district as they run the Fire Gate constantly." (Thermopylae's failure)||
||Ah, scorched(ha) earth, got it||
I think without the precise thing they wanted then they will attempt to do their best with what they have, in the hopes that they can pull it off anyway
Laugh at my pun
Little meme I made after I saw something on Twitter. Related to ||Andros Capella|| and|| Ignatius||
Accurate
contributing to the memes, related to Chapter 1
Capella would 100% rip into any of his crew using leet gamer callsigns
ponder
... Yeah. Yeah, definitely.
'I am adopting the callsign CR1MS0N L4G0'
'I hear those numbers you fuckhead, your meal tonight is your own fucking teeth'
Another player has been going full nerdmode and mathing out the life expectancy of Calliopeans
I mean, m.bison, pineapple and other hacker sounding names for hounds aren't all gamer related
How is pineapple a hacker term
Pineapple is referred to a device that can mock a WiFi signal that can mask as a public signal that if you connect to it steals your data
Huh. Til
Is that what Deadpool means when he yells "Pineapple Surprise!" ? /j
the evil wifi pineapple...
Hello I've been gone a few months - I know act 2 is in the works but is there even a rough estimate on when it might be done?
act 2 done when its done, keep an eye on #909574961931362365 for news, WIP stuff, and drafts

"Why is your mech called 'Rubber Ducky'"
"Have you ever tried to code something that just. Wouldn't work? You'd need one too."
Pffff, good one
i give full permission for anyone to use my joke names in any situation
born to meme
forced to work
Life is heck
37,642,981 vent crabs found
am absolutely going to fit Rubber Ducky in as a callsign somewhere
rubber ducky, you're the (faith of the) one
So I might be stupid
I made a layout for ||Bad star||
Then I scrapped it
Then I made another
Then I scrapped it
Then I was like... ok... There are big ||Oil tanks... and I want a lot of them and things that bad star can run into... so IG I can do a map... Like that battlefield map... Operation firestorm. So I was inspired and started trying to make it like that... The refinery parts of it. AND there are like... BIG warehouses, these CAN'T just be like SIZE 5 buildings or smthn with an ultra breacher... so BAD STAR SURELY should be able to like run through the buildings... But then there should be an interior... But the map says it can also have a sniper with a grapple so it would be cool if they could go ON TOP of the buildings... But I should do one or the other not both!||
So now I'm modeeling building interior and roof... annd I will need to figure out how to make it work ._.
And make it intuitive so that others can easily set up the map the same way...
Our group had a realization when someone remembered
"Loki. My dude. You are giving MILITARY SECRETS in a MUSE CHATROOM."
This but Loki with "Days since classified Purview documents have been leaked in Muse HORUS Forums"
That's not Loki. ||That's his mom.||
let me get on that
|| Even funnier because imagine Loki keeps getting written up for things he ACTUALLY DIDN'T DO THIS TIME ||
THAT'S HILARIOUS

replace one of S1GN4Ls crew w/ it or something
ohg hey one of my players making emojis for the party too! so far we have~

your suggestion has been filed with the Council of Sere
RU883R DUC|<Y
Actually speaking of that.
I have assembled the assorted combats for mission 1 in roll20 just so I have them prepped.
The tooltips also work.
nice
god i have great friends
i reached out to one of em im running IGF for
"hey im not happy w/ the discord i made for it, can you help?"
"say less"
they did not have to go this hard for me, but they did
as such i may be a bit kinder to them in combat as thanks
something-something whoever gets the gm pizza doesnt get structured
for a second i was absolutely convinced that you were saying that MonarchFeetPics was Loki
Can you prove it isn't?
you're right, i can't
Calliope canon event.
My party somehow got the leak warthunder style of Impact Dynamics Raptor 5 during chapter 3 as a distraction tactic
I'm super grateful for anyone sharing their maps, but about to go into Wrecking Fields and @tame tide these mission 3 maps are on another level
Yeah their maps are dope
:D
they are very nice
I'm planning on running In Golden Flame Act 1 for some of my friends (all pretty much new to Lancer, although myself and one player have a session or two of experience). Does anyone have any tips for making the campaign work well in that context?
I mean, so long as your players at least have a basic rundown of the lore, the game itself runs beautifully
it works best when your players engage with the setting, the combat itself is pretty forgiving
So long as they have some tabletop experience, its actually an amazing introductory module. My group was 4/5 new. The big pieces of advice I'd say are:
- Have a cheat sheet for combat actions and conditions.
- Make sure they recognize how much power they have in the narrative sections. My group came from Pathfinder and D&D, and the notion of just doing a thing without 13.5 skill checks took a minute to click.
Encourage them to engage with the world, underline that its okay to mess up a little in combat, and maybe also point enthusiastically at the bit in the leveling system where you get a free partial respec every level.
I believe everyone in the group has some D&D experience, so they should at least get the basics of the TTRPG format from there. Good idea with the cheat sheet; I'll have to find/make something for that.
One thing I will say, having a very comedic but genuine tone in your sessions. Sure crack a joke and have smiles about silly conversations but something I always do that when push comes to shove. The player NPC interactions will be genuine and help the player with advice if needed or appreciate their advice when given. It makes for very emotional scenes and opens the doors to a lot of dynamics in parties and people.
IGF is about how we live in a dust bin, but it is our pile and we take care of our own.
and also about how rodericke steele shall be thrown in a bin
it is inevitable
he shall be binned
My players did a warthunder moment of leaking the Raptor 5 docs to the muse
lol
Oh, I have plans brewing for what to do with Steele.
My entire group (including me) were new to the game. It worked out great. I made sure they had access to the Calliope setting primer (I can get the exact pages this is in a bit) plus "Five Minutes" before starting character generation. The other thing I'd recommend is if they choose to do "shoo the vultures" to make sure they understand that a Slowed Ace cannot dodge their attacks, and that they all have access to a basic hack that can slow it.
(It's pages 3-6 and 9-48, I made a separate PDF with "Print->Save As PDF", in Chrome which also lets you specify a page range)
workin on something
By the flame help me I am planning another campaign for IGF
This time I got
-
Kat Tastro Phe, Potential Lancaster pilot that was with Calamity during the time Andross betrayed her and they ran to the gate together.
-
Potential Clone of a former character a friend places called Yue, White haired assassin that droke away from SSC. Doesn't know she is a clone but knows the old contacts.
-
Morgana, big unit of a lady that was fighitng for freedom of a planet and was ubducted to become a super soldier, is a lot older than you think
-
4th player, to be determined....
Mission 3 and SSMR spoiler
||*Interrogate a Hellhound capture
The capture: You guys will face a strong mech with a shotgun
Me, got a kick on ass at the final battle of SSMR by Unbound Thought the Ultra Breacher: No Breacher please:(
*The Hellfire clock-filler guy find out that is Bad Star
GM: Bad Star is a Ultra Breacher:)||
NO GOD PLEASE NO.mp4
lol, lmao
get jebaited
im back to scouring through this book and realizing that ||The Icebreaker has Vex's memes -and- a box set of GitS:SAC for sale||
lmao
do the ||crone and thief|| encounters in mission 3 tick the journey progress clock? or is that up to the players to decide?
||Crone does not (it says you don't roll for it), Thief would roll||
||I just found the bit that says they don't roll for the Thief, mb||
I just did both and progressed it anyway :P
Mission 3: ||BAD STAR||
||SO I wanted big industrial refinery type shenanigans with this, inspired a tad from operation firestorm from battlefield, BIG BUILDINGS GOOD! BUt there's an ultra breacher, it would be anticlamctic if he couldn't run through the buildings! But it would be jank if the buildings were empty! so... I made both the roofs and the insides||
||These are done... But I will at some point when it isn't... 23:37 make the roofs there own things so you can stitch the two maps ontop of eachother||
@tame tide out of curiousity, how are you getting the sorta craters there?
skill issue lmao , just do what i do nad have a breacher never roll above an 8
not me spending 20 minutes trying to align a map with roll20's thrice cursed grid while muttering "I love ttrpg, this is what I do for fun, I love ttrpg, this is what I do for fun..."
this is why i like foundry
I need my foundry up to date for my pathfinder games 😭
I think you can run multiple installs of Foundry on the same machine (I haven't tried this myself, though)
ok, yeah, people are saying it's possible
https://www.reddit.com/r/FoundryVTT/comments/x5l5ha/2_versions_on_1_pc/
There's a video on how to run 2 installs pinned in #lancer-vtt
my gm runs pathfinder and lancer !
One of the upsides of using the Forge hosting service is the ability to easily swap foundry versions in the site’s table/game configuration section. Makes jumping between my 5e and Lancer games quite easy.
