#Field Guide To Liminal Space

Having played it for a full mission now I think Medea might be one of my new favorite frames
Just got a lot of really fun tactical decision making available to it and its repairs as ammunition mechanics are really interesting
But I'm also an Orzhov Enjoyer so its design ethos is very in line with what I like to play
Literally the inspiration for the Medea
Pondering Extra Actions for the Hound to give it an extra thing to do.
Pondering a Recharge 4+ 'Basicly a ferrous lash but requires the hound to be adjacent'
So it can push an enemy or ally
that'd help it a bit, yeah
I do have one bit of feedback re: medea and that's that its overshield on adjacent allies when drones die feels weird and is very difficult for the medea pilot to make use out of, since its main in-license way of blowing up its own drones (without needing to RNG damage/attack rolls with jason's love) also fucks over allies
Yeah, that's fair. It was more for 'Not feeling like keeping a drone near you for Queen's Guard is wasted if they just shoot the drone' XD
Yeah, the 'hurts enemies' was designed to be the main part of it.
and last dance module is a sufficiently Fucking Nasty system that it really doesn't need to be party-friendly
You Help allies by making sure that your remaining allies don't have enemies near them 😛

hygromanteia is definitely more of a solomon core but my gm _has_ actually been shooting my drones so it might help (devout is from iridia since my GM is generous)
snagged tainted elixirs just because I love them (and it gives me something to do that isn't reliant on drones)
I might ditch golden fleece later but for now it's in
aeos drones are an absolute all-star
I'm glad people like them for how nothing they are as a drone. Like not as an insult, they're just an absolutely bare bones 'this is a drone'. XD
Oh wait, Aoes
Not the sheep ones
I mean aries too, aries drones are actually fantastic zone control, them engaging people as if they're size 2 is actually super relevant
I just can't read 😛
it's come up multiple times where izaak just won't be able to move an npc where he wants because the fucking sheep are in the way
plus with DC1 and their own movement I can yeet one out 9 spaces if I need to
we also have an everest with a tempest charged blade and tactician 1, so just being able to put a sheep next to a guy for tactician accuracy is also very relevant
the sheep are both exceptionally cute and exceptionally useful
Yeah, there's a lot of value becuase of Just Existing.
this thing is a pain in my fuckin ass
it was nice when melt was actually able to remove drones fromt he board for a turn
(There's a reason I also put the Stormcaller in the same book as 2 dedicated drone mechs. Fuck them)
yeah the melt was good
it forced me to burn core power
unlimited drone works
hey there, does anyone have a good idea how to run a LL4 Carmilla build, or is it simply just 3LL in carmilla and 1 in goblin?
Honestly, I'd go Carmilla 2/Pegasus 1/Goblin 1.
Depends. Are you running it on the Carmilla frame itself, or Tepes?
Actually... scratch that. I think Carm 3 with Goblin or Morgana 1 would be the thing either way
running the Carmilla sounds like a good bet, though I have thought about the smart gun on Carmilla
it depends on how much use I get out of Mircalla class multitask, because otherwise the smart gun can help me more consistently hit folks
Good point. I’m partial to Multitasking, but that’s just me
I like it as well, but I need to keep a open mind in regards to this gear
hell, I was planning on using bolt nexus before I was told about how the start up lag could affect things
I just saw the seeking and 20 range and knew it had SOME use
I don't know if it'll switch to the Target Locked profile if you use the first hit to Invade.
._.
Yeah, since it's on-hit sadly.
Herd
Quick Action, Recharge 4+
The Hound herds a character within range 3 and line of sight. If they are allied, the Hound pushes them 5 spaces in any direction; if they are hostile, they must succeed on an Agility save or be pushed 5 spaces in any direction. This movement ignores engagement and doesn’t provoke reactions.
If a hostile target moved this way collides with an obstruction or another mech, they stop moving and are knocked Prone.
Addition to the Hound's base tricks.
Pondering if I should make it a bit more unique than just 'Oh, this guy has Ferrous Lash'.
Well I guess that's confirmation that Invitation Rounds don't count for "On hit with a ranged or melee attack' effects
From the weapon, yeah.
It negates the effect of the weapon.
But you'd get non-weapon stuff (Like say, Combined Arms)
They'd work fine, as they're talent stuff that triggers on the hit, not an enhancement to the weapon itself.
Yeah. The intent is that it just knocks the weapon out of the equation.
Gotcha gotcha gotcha, so that answers that question, thanks chief
Infiltrator 2 applies to one attack roll
Bellringer applies to the whole weapon
Oh, oh yeah
Bellringer Daisy Cutter 😳
so I have a question regarding the Unknown actor Core bonus in Downfall, why aren't there really any frames that have anything related to hidden or doing stuff while hidden other than that specific core bonus?
I think that one is more DFG lore based rather than with a specific frame/license in mind
Yeah, the opening narration has a Sloth disguised as a Barbarossa.
I have a question about the Celeste Queen Anne's Revenge core ability.
So it says that it will allow me to overwatch anyone who leaves my threat even if it wouldn't usually cause overwatch, say forced movement.
I have Vanguard three which lets me shoot people when they walk into my threat with overwatch. Does this combine so I can now shoot people who move into my threat through non-standard means? Or does it stay separate so I can only apply Anne's Revenge to people leaving?
The former,I believe but @empty kraken could confirm.
Darn, having people teleported into my threat and getting shot would have been hilarious
wait...
Former, so YES I could get the hitties from them being teleported in?
Former, not latter :p
I suck at those
Shoot the teleporters
Hell yeah! I got to play as my Celeste today and everything started to get scared to get near me. And then I ran at them and they didn't have a choice.
Hahahaha
Big "I'M NOT STUCK IN HERE WITH YOU, YOU'RE STUCK IN HERE WITH ME!" energy
Oh yes very much so. I crossed the entire map in two turns without an overcharge by flanking the entire map, and while I didn't do the most damage, I slowed their roll towards my allies and immedateiy took over the objective.
I'm really liking the combination of the Frankenstein and Celeste. I was very tempted to put the climbing axe on the Celeste but unfortunately my smaller size means I can't tow people very well, as much as I'd like to hook myself to the artillery and drag them physically back to the Combat Drill wielding White Witch on the team
But I am enjoying the Exacerbator Gauntlet that matches very well with the Terror Class shotgun, cause both of them get even better when the enemy has lost a structure. So, when someone loses a structure I can hunt them down at top speed and beat them to death.
Being half size makes it impossible to do so though. Maybe another speedy mech I can stab the climbing axe with and drag the poor buggers back for the slow mechs to chew on.
Welp actually while you're here
Is Bellringer single-target or the whole weapon a la Roland Chamber?
Single
In Hypostasis Banner, does it only apply to allies or are you an ally to it?
I know you are not your own allies, but are you an ally to your deployable?
I guess this technically isn't even a deployable
It won't affect you, just your allies. As yeah, you're not allied to yourself.
Thanks!
Was getting absolutely wrecked by a T2 breacher, and wanted to make sure I was outta luck
Hmm...pondering if something is a bit too much on the comedy end for some of the Star and Melody writing.
Basicly: Setting up a group of military discussion groups that are A) Very well educated on technical details B) Also on a planet that hasn't seen full scale war in literally over 2000 years, so they've got very little connection to the hardships of war/the limitations of them.
So you've got a lot of people with a lot of ideas about what military tech can theoretically do but not what it can practically do.
Just gonna stop by and say wow....Amakusa(I think) really does just go "Hey you. Yeah the dip shit who hurt my support. 1 VS 1 ME RIGHT FUCKIN NOW AND PERISH" and I am here for it. It's both defensive but also balls to the walls aggressive and I live for it.
Thanks so much for the kind words, I'm glad you like it!
Had my but saved by someone running it with a combination of it Saladin and I think Forget-me-not. And he was a bloody monster and it was amazing
Gardaí
Milesia's status as many Tuatha rather than a single planet has often caused trouble in the area coordinated security. Standards could be highly variable and willingness to coordinate even during natural disasters or the eternal threat of Seccomm locating them was uneven at best. Mercenaries could fill the role in part but they were themselves without certainty of loyalty or skill unless very storied.
The Gardaí were a compromise among various members of the planetary forum, a collective force that would act under its own officers rather than as the appendage of any particular Tuatha. Each Tuatha would provide a tithe of their troops, oaths sworn of loyalty to the forum and Milesia above their national ties. They would be trained together to the same standards and with tactics they could coordinate instead of acting as a ramshackle collection of warbands.
In the early years, it was disastrous. A prominent friendly fire incident that was suspected to be far from an accident had Dáire nearly pull itself from the group. The chief Garda only barely managed to defuse this by privately hiring a swathe of investigators to confirm it had been the result of a lover's quarrel rather than political intrigue. Still, it proved that Oversight was required, with those investigators forming the core of the first iterations of the Shades, the Gardaí's internal affairs and counterintelligence division.
By the modern era of Milesia, the Gardaí is at a crossroads for itself. It has become a professional and highly skilled planetary force...but Milesia's nature as a Core World means they are preparing for war that will likely never come. Milesia's preference of staying out of Union's wars leaves them little room to use their skills offworld and there has been grumblings that for all their skill, they are little more than tin soldiers for display. Some argue that the Gardaí should help to push Union's actions across the stars and seek alliances with Harrison Armoury, while others believe that even if battle never comes, their nature is that of a shield for their world rather than a blade.
Writing up more stuff for Milesia! They do actually have a military despite being a coalition of groups rather than a single world.
Can you attack with the Claiohm Solais with no charges remaining?
100%. The charges are on the action, rather than the weapon.
Nice, thanks
(I assume this also means it can still be destroyed while at 0 charges?)
Yeh
Nice
(I hope the fluff reads okay btw)
This or Claiomh Solais? Honestly I'm not a very good critic but I don't see anything wrong with either
Either/Or but I meant more the thing I just posted. XD
Again, I'm not a very good critic and I've probably missed a ton of context, but yeah, it seems perfectly good
what's a good Veteran trait for a Warden?
this one's gonna be protecting an Elite Ronin
Shock Armor or Lightning Reflexes, depending on who of your PCs you think will be the biggest threat to it
so, quick question, what role does Hereticode play in a Field Guide to Liminal Space?
As in the term? It was something I put together as a counterpart to liturgicode, representing how Magnum Opus Interstellar is doing some heinous shit with tech not out of some worship like HORUS but out of their own self-interest.
Yeah, it's not anything super fancy but liturgicode felt wrong to use for their tech wizardry.
and Metat Aun?
That one is Lancer Canon, it's the god of the Aun
oh
I got like, a really big idea after I pulled a allnighter, and it started with what the term Hereticode implies, code considered "unholy" by Horus cells
and that sent me off into a Eidolon called Set, a cult based around decorporealization, and frame ideas that went into various amounts of Horus wackiness
Sounds like a lot of fun! (There's actually a decorp-related flashpoint in my most recent thing but it's less religious cult and more Fascist Fuckwit)
Celeste has moved from one of the least interesting licenses to the funniest striker I've ever seen in the space of a single turn
man took 2 structure and then ran 9 spaces and killed 4 people off a reaction skirmish
I would have paid money to watch that turn
I am also curious how that went down. Call it research, if you have a rough writeup 😄
As a Celeste I was hit by a Ronin's Overwatch and got structured AND exposed, immediately used Curst-Class Fail Forward and Skirmisher 2 to dart in, crump them with an Exacerbate Gauntlet to the face, then continued my run in to land with Meteor Jump Jets, killed another grunt, and because I got structured on the way over I ripped them apart with a full barrage with enough of a shot left over to ping a Ronin with a line weapon, which killed them but reflected back to me and blasted a hole in my chest for twice the damage I did to them... and I'm still standing while a boss and a three ronin were dead.
Putting the fear of god in them
Man stormcallers are tough bastards, we're facing two of them with two pyros
range 15 seeking burn and ap is very nasty
Curst Fail-Forward, Exacerbator Gauntlet, Meteor Jump Jet
and then he's just got the Slasher Suite so 2 structure becomes way less scary
Sea-Worthy and Grease Monkey 3 in the party for extra funnies
those structures were free real estate
I hope you tipped the engineers back at base. Even on a MOS mech, that’s half a hair from a full reprint
I AM HUFFING PAINT AS HARD AS I CAN RIGHT NOW
I JUST BURST DOWN THE STORMCALLER
I barraged the stormcaller, did a chunk of damage with the gauntlet, then landed the shotgun with hydrostatic induction mod, hit them with my auxilary which pushed them back and triggered my overwatch because Celeste and Vanguard 3 lets you attack on any movement in your threat, so I chased after it and ripped it apart with AP damage because these attacks were still happening after the hydrostatic mod.
Yeah, their accuracy is Pretty Ratshit (+1/2/3 with +1 Difficulty) but they hit like a truck.
Yeah they honestly did not need to worry about it tbh
Nobody with even 'Okay' E-Defence?
Hahah. Design-wise the Stormcaller was supposed to make people with a solid E-Def feel like that defence mattered as I noticed that there isn't much that is Low Accuracy and Smart. XD
Most things that target E-Defence are running a 'Yeah but I'll likely hit anyway' level of accuracy
I think my main issue with them is they are very nasty and they seem designed to not just shoot their gun every turn on players
but they never needed to worry about that
at least that was the problem we faced
nods
Goes to worrying about NPC design/messing things up
It was a nasty fight
there were like 3 elites in the fight as well as 2 storm callers an a few pyros
If it was too much, I'm sorry. The Stormcaller got testing, of course but I might have overlooked some things.
I have some issues with it but that's also because a lot of that fight was made in a way that made these rougher
I don't think they're unsalvageable, just a bit much
I think their main downside (they hurt their allies for benefits) was something they could just choose to not engage with and that felt a bit off at least to me
So we just had a "single target rainmaker with more damage" to deal with basically
I'll admit, I'm a bit surprised their damage was too much. As they do have a pretty hard hit against armoured people but the accuracy is terrible. Even against E-Def 6 they're only hitting 62% of the time.
Yeah, I think them being with pyros didn't help probably
But also yeah with range 15 and seeking it also meant they could elect to hit anyone else but the folks with high edef too
If I had a single tweak i'd do on them it would probably make them not seeking or i'd reduce their range to make them weaker to folks getting closer
but for context the pyros basically enabled them hard
I did expect them to pop a bit more, it took a while thanks to energy resistance and a dot of armour.
and we had 2 of them
Thanks for the feedback.
A moderate amount of burn.
I'm sure enjoying the Celeste tho
Going to be reposting a rework of the Hound when I get home.
It's a lot dickier
Among other things: It's getting a Celeste effect stolen.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1AMnvFqsx77IMl6Ru1mrB40SiYci1ZsCqOhSFHvttgLw/edit?usp=sharing Optionals are not yet updated but the base gear has been.
Following up a bit on this as the GM of the game in question - definitely a situation where the map layout and supporting enemies conspired a bit to tip the Stormcallers over the top (the Suldan Sergeant using Ambush Tactics to spring four Grunt Ronins that demanded immediate attention on top of the Celeste that was about to wreck the Stormcaller's shit, one Stormcaller reinforcing from a section of map that turned out to be basically impossible for Size 2 characters to pass through, the aforementioned Pyro dogpile). I used an Elite Stormcaller one time in a previous game, but it got focused down pretty hard and didn't get to do much.
I do have to agree that the "attack self/allies to recharge abilities" basically never felt like a worthwhile proposition over just laying into the players more with Bolt from the Blue and whatever did Recharge naturally. Crashing Thunder was used once in combination with a Luminant (Iridia) running down the middle to block up the central hallway, but the players were able to lock down the Luminant and manuever such that it was the only one hit by it, which was a pretty fun outcome.
Yeah I feel like I should have made the shock to recharge a seperate action, not part of the attack.
Hindsight is 20/20
More updates made to the Hound. Should be done now unless someone breaks it.
Here's an odd question for people - With Ironleaf Foundry/By Star and Melody's stuff, what sort of NPCs (Either thematically or mechanically) would you consider fun for throwing down with them? Right now I've got a few ideas but am pondering more. I'm always interested in what areas people would like filled in the NPC roster.
I usually tend to look around at PC mechs that don’t have an equivalent, Kobold & Zheng have enemy potential. I know a few other designers have taken stabs at that sort of thing too, but I can see more design space
Alternately something antihacker like black witch
I did have a Zheng-Like NPC I was vaguely working on ages ago I could revisit. The Kaiserin, who kinda got backburnered for being a Bit Complex.
Divine Right
Trait
The Kaiserin counts as Size 1 for Ram and Grapple. It ignores engagement from larger characters and can freely move through and share the spaces they occupy (even if they’re hostile). In addition, the Kaiserin has a Mastery die, 1d6 starting at 1. The Mastery die is increased in the following ways:
-1/Turn: A Character in Line of Sight falls prone.
-1/Turn: A Hostile character misses the Kaiserin with an attack.
-The Kaiserin hits a character with Destabilizing Gauntlets.
Some systems and traits must spend Mastery to use them, reducing the Mastery die by that amount, to a minimum of 1. The Kaiserin cannot spend Mastery if it would reduce the Mastery die below 1.
Overdrive
Trait, Full Action, +2/4/6
The Kaiserin spends any amount of Mastery to make one of the Overdrive attacks below. Overdrive attacks are Smart Melee Attacks with Threat 2 that deal 8/10/12 Explosive Damage with Reliable 4/5/6 unless otherwise noted:
2 Mastery: Blaster Lance - This Overdrive attacks a Line 5 area.
2 Mastery: Mach Rush - Before or after this attack, the Kaiserin can Teleport up to 5 spaces.
3 Mastery: Avalanche Crash - On Hit, the target is Shredded until the end of their next turn.
3 Mastery: Blitz Caliber - On hit, the target is knocked back 5 spaces and if this movement is halted by another character or object the target is guard broken, becoming slowed, impaired and unable to take reactions until the end of their next turn.
5 Mastery: Tyrant’s Peace - Instead of attacking, one hostile character in range 2 and Line of Sight must pass an agility save or suffer 1 Stress damage. On a successful save they instead gain heat equal to half of their heat cap. On a success or failure the target cannot cool heat by any means other than losing stress until the end of their next turn.
Where it's a Burst Striker that is mostly not that high impact with basic attacks but builds up a meter of Super Attacks
Anti-Tech Defender could be fun. I do have a couple of ideas sitting about there.
DELIGHTED to hear that CELESTE is popping off
I also have some work on that anti-tech defender mentioned. For all your Goblin B Gone needs.
I just want to check something, in case I didn't get this right.
So with the talent that lets me overwatch when people move within my threat not just leaving my threat, and with the hydrostatic mod to my gun that allows me to add knockback on to my next attack this turn, cause I then overwatch skirmish on the knockback since Celeste can attack on non-usual conditions like forced movement and Vanguard 3 lets me overwatch any movement in my threat range.
Cause I ran in, barraged, last shot did a knock back then overwatch skirmished as a response to the forced movement.
wanna make sure that's legal
Yes
There's a reason Celeste doesn't get a Heavy Mount 😛
Because you get to turn this into Pre-Nerf Pyro going 'I'm gunna airblast you and then reserve shooter you mid-air'
Wonderful
This DID get me caught in an exploding enemy mech though, and I took 12 damage all at once
fittingly for a Celeste, all damage done to me was on my turn. No one even dared to come close when it was their own turn.
Hahah, fantastic.
And yes, the Anti-Tech Defender NPC is being set up and is going to make Goblins Sad.
Cast From Eden
Reaction, Recharge 5+
Trigger: A hostile character makes an tech or smart weapon attack against the Exorcist or an adjacent allied character.
Effect: The triggering character must pass a hull save or suffer 6/8/10 Kinetic Damage and become Intangible until the start of their next turn.
An Optional for it.
As someone who loves hacker mechs... fuck you. With love.
The general thematic is an Exorcist/Divine Caster. As it felt like a good counterpart to the Witch.
Oh definitely
Also when I looked at the Celeste I just got a feeling for it. I was looking for a damage mech and despite it not having a heavy I just had a good feeling about it. Plus I really love 1/2 size mechs
Though I actually don't feel 1/2 size a lot of the time, since when I have overwatch up I'm basically a size 3 mech since nobody wants to get near to me. I'm just a horrible rumbling presence on the map.
You are filling me with such joy
She didn't get a lot of attention during the playtest and I've had such anxieties that maybe she couldn't fill that exact role
I will admit I noticed I'm using a lot of useful tools from the frankenstein on it. The exacerbater gauntlet, meteor jump system, meatshield protocol, but its because I'm going for a particular build of landing hard and fast and wrecking the shit of anyone who has lost a structure. But I could only run the risk quite so hard because of the Celeste frame. Landing hard is made better by being able to move 9 spaces on standard movement. Meatshield makes up for the low health. The gauntlet has synergies with the shotgun for structure punishment.
I also ignore engagement which makes me impossible to stop. When someone structured me I could use skirmisher 2 mid movement to dart in and crush em because I knew I wasn't going to slow down because of it. I darted around a stormcaller and used it for protection from its own people. I even played keep away with a dude who had a burst weapon.
Will admit I didn't often use the +2 damage when it isn't my turn but it was because the enemy surreptitiously found easier targets to go after.
Still, going to get into more fights with it as we continue on.
One more note, at one point it was pointed out I was in a rough space because an enemy mech might reach and fire at me. I agreed and said I'd overcharge and move out of there. There was audible confusion from some folk because they just realised I'd not overcharged once that fight. My action economy and movement had just been that cracked.
XD
Okay.....one of the most terrifying things I have seen is an Amakusa with full levels into caliban. The Saintly Intersession with the Cannibal is horrifying.

Amkusa Caliban is something I've been wanting to do yeah
Do the teleport to buddy boost and give yourself OS, stabilize to heal folks and hurt people with Cannibal
does Spartoi Blade Mourning Cloak work?
cause it has 15 sensors
I think you'd need some kind of threat bonus, cause being adjacent to the drone would stop you from triggering Hunter
If you use Celeste core to tiger hunter combat sheathe...can you hit the same people twice with the skirmish or would it be 1 attack per person
I just wanted to compliment this 3pp's NPCs... I think the Chessmaster is my favorite NPC period.
I'm glad you like it! The NPCs...it was a bit of a tricky area, as the corebook NPCs cover so many bases of Basic Functionality So Well. So I sorta ended up going 'We can go a bit weirder as we're designing spice for an otherwise functional lineup'.
I
Am going to lob this to @barren pendant and run for my life
You would only hit the guy once but each time you swing, as tiger hunter doesn't get 2 swings, it gets to swing at 2 people (And Celeste's core has an explicit carve out for multi-target stuff).

(minus fluff)
Oh this is very fun
new NPCS!
There is a few!
I may be on Lancer break and running fabula ultima currently, but I always enjoy seeing new NPc classes!
Right now I've got like...6? For By Star and Melody.
I was just about to ask about it!
I have need of such an NPC soon...
The NPCs currently sorted:
Bandit - Agile Striker
Hound - Melee Support
Exorcist - Anti-tech Defender
Prism - Weird bouncing shot artillery
Damned - Anti-Grouping Controller
Huntsmaster - Drone Using Sniper Artillery.
Happy to toss any out people want to see/tear apart
oooh, I might be able to use a Hound
also, does the Pistolero's "Bad Luck Pardner" reaction redirect an attack onto... a PC (or ally) or onto one of the Pistolero's allies?
it says "a hostile character" but I'm not sure from whose PoV
You shoot your friend!
incredible
ooooh yes, this will be very useful
very good dog
is there an LCP for these yet?
Not for the NPC-side stuff.
The PC side stuff yes but the NPCs are still In Development.
okay
In part because I'm pondering if I should add more.
Is there any thematic or mechanical areas you think would be fun for an NPC?
mechanically, i think an npc that encourages you to have high heat would be interesting. i dont think there's anything in core or any homebrew ive seen that does that. actually i think there's one eidolon layer from wallflower but
something like a tech attacker, but instead of generating heat, it slows/immobilizes if it reduces your heat to 0 or something. not sure the exact effects but something ideally punishing enough to compensate for "overcharging is free heat but also a free action".
an optional or something to say "u can't overcharge :devil emoji:" might be interesting but too targeted. not sure
I think I'd avoid reducing heat but I could see some interesting ideas for a cold-themed mech that makes you want go Gain Heat ASAP.
Breaking the Ice
Quick Action, Recharge 5+
Choose one character in Range 5. If they are not in the Danger Zone or Exposed at the end of their next turn, they suffer 6/8/10 AP Kinetic Damage.
'Hey you, better overcharge/use some heat toys'
the struggle would just be finding a way to make generating that heat have some other downside
unless the downside is just the witch in the corner
I think it's mostly 'the threat is that being half+ heat means you're at risk of your stress getting blown off'
I think the biggest problem with that as a concept is that not every build will have any tools to gain heat other than Overcharge. And for some Frames (especially SSC ones), that means you basically need to Stress if you don't want to take a ton of free damage.
And that feels lose-lose in a not very fun way, because you aren't really making much of a decision.
That's fair. Hmm...
It's unfortunately a problem that I've run into when throwing around similar concepts. Because every PC has the tools to clear heat, but relying on Overcharge to gain heat - when it's deliberately a severely limited thing - isn't really much of an option. So all a target like that can really do is shrug and eat the extra damage.
Fair, I'll ponder some other 'ice' themed stuff.
not really ice but, maybe if the mech has something unshielded reactor?
and taking it turns off some other debuff?
MSCM Warden token (sword from #773901993265725470 message on the retrograde discord)
So, for the Archon - since it has the AI tag, it rolls for Cascade, right? If it hits Cascade, you're not exactly taking over a PC mech, a character who is already an NPC just hits an effect that would make them an NPC. Is the only mechanical effect of this "make the NPC behave differently and probably weirdly?"
Yeah, much like the Veteran ability that gives then an NHP copilot
Does Bolt From The Blue from Stormcaller only deal the energy damage if it targets allies?
Yep! (I really feel like I should have made that a seperate action instead of aprt of the attack, for more clarity/combo stuff)
Tbh it is pretty clear, I just wanted to make sure
Maybe an "only" before the damage might be good but that's about it
...ah fuck I might have run that wrong
Hmm?
Wait, to be clear - does it deal the energy and the burn to hostile characters or just the burn?
If it's the former, then I ran it right - if it's the latter, oopsie daisy
The former.
It deals just the energy to allies if you zap them to make them recharge.
Phew, okay - I'm tired and that question made me think I somehow misunderstood how it worked
Thanks!
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QzkLCZSj9nvjAJaVF-rKXBiGGJZtZVL1A7WwIv_H-OQ/edit?usp=sharing And speaking of recharge, working on another NPC with a recharge focus.
Hmm?
I saw Oooh shiny
and like
thats a terrifying core trait
literal resistance to all loading, heat, limited, or core active related attacks
I love unidentified chemicals though
Nice flexible weapon of unidentifiable chemicals
with cone to boot!
this is going to absolutely be the Witch of the selection of NPCs you are making
and dear goodness Ralieghs are gonna start bringin their kinetic hammers specifically to ensure the damn bird dies
Oh yes, this thing is going to make Raleigh and HA mechs very unhappy.
well, good thing the thermobaric flamethrower exists
Yep. The intent was 'very frustrating for Fancy, Costly Weapons, vulnerable to Basic Weapons'
wait a sec
technically combat drill doesn't have heat self unless overkill is triggered
How does shiny work with weapons that can spend limited charges but don't have to?
Yeah, Overkill isn't one of the things that triggers it.
I'd...not pondered that. I think it will work on that weapon but now I genuinely need to ponder it. XD
'Specially with gilgamesh coming soonish, yeah
So does it resist an Autochoke Caliban's Flayer? Does it resist a Sherman's Solidcore if they used their core to charge it?
Yes and Yes
i feel like the hat should glow like a video game pickup
Perfect
Has anyone made a Miniaturization Sloth for use in a MULE Harness yet?
Because I feel like one riding a Lancaster into battle would work
Had people dissing the NPCs but... I feel like... as long as you are aware of how good the NPCs are in this (they tend to fulfil two roles at once) your fine... and it isn't like the base game doesn't have their "Better than usual" NPCs. xD
Ironically, they originally were marked with two roles but Comp-Con can't handle NPCs with 2 roles. XD
But yeah, Liminal Space NPCs are generally intended to be 'These guys have a gimmick and if you let them play to that gimmick, they're very powerful/if you can interupt that gimmick they're very weak'.
Like if you bully the sorceress relentlessly with crowd control she's borderline helpless but if you let her sit back and keep shooting, you're in deep shit. XD
Sorceress is the forbidden artillery controller
Because that thing just being in the sitrep forces everyone that's available to deal with it
I like that npc
Yeah, to peek behind the curtain: The corebook NPCs fill the basic roles so well that Liminal Space's NPCs were designed as 'this is spice, not the main meal'. They often demand more Direct Attention than corebook PCs/can do silly things if you let them Play How They Want.
As I looked at stuff like the Assault and Aegis and went 'Well, I'm not making a more Basic Striker or Basic Defender than this'. XD
wallflower NPCs are also dual role but comp/con can't handle that
From what I am told about the Sorceress is that I should outright tell the players to deal with it... instead of allowing it to be a surprise that it can mow them all down.
This is sorta why 'scan' is important. XD
I never have to worry about that cause I have a player thats sticking with Chomolungma
They will always see every statblock
Solution: bring an Envy
Exactly. Trial by fire motherfuckers!
That downfall CB has been absolutely incredible for our campaign. The reconnaissance one
'Oh shit, we know what the gimmick of this fight is' XD
Just imagine a Reconnaissance + ELF Chomolungma
Scanning the entire opfor round 1
For a grand total of 0 action economy
Working on a small mini-adventure for the Ironleaf Foundry stuff. How does this sound to people?
A collection of pre-built battles a GM can pick and choose from in any order because they're 'Groups you could be jumped by, while trying to escort people through a Mercenary and Deniable Asset Filled City'. The inspiration is the Greenback Jane arc of Black Lagoon, where there's a lot of 'Oh, what's this fucker's gimmick?' as they try to escort a hacker out of the city.
The idea is that it's not a super complex or super fancy adventure but one with a lot of individual personality for each group/a good place for a GM to just jump into running something.
So you might get jumped by Five Minutes To Midnight, a SSC Deniable Black Ops Team with a lot of interpersonal issues or Dad's Armoury, an over-the-hill HA officer trying for a last shot at glory with a lot of wet behind the ears Legionnaires who've never seen battle under his command.
They won't all be Escort-Mission, some will be like 'This is a defensive mission because your escortee needs to grab something from a site' or breakthrough as you make a push for a spaceport or such.
Oh, not yet. I should get that done.
Finished making the update to the document (.lcp not yet updated)
hmm @barren pendant the LCP pictures seem to be missing, as of the latest update
That's a comp-con issue iirc, rather than a .lcp issue.
really? that sucks
all the other homebrews seem to be workin
this feels so sad

all the liminal space mechs are working fine
Odd
Gods, I've forgotten the exact phrasing of the Downfall ethos summary and it's killing me, the one that goes "The danger of telling someone something is that they will believe you, the danger with believing something is that people will act on that belief."
"Oh fuck, someone actually bought into our bullshit!"
But yeah, right now I'm working on 'Weird Gimmick Team' concepts, in the line of the Greenback Jane arc of Black Lagoon or 'Every Metal Gear Solid team'. XD
For that small adventure
Is there any factions people would love to see get more of a showing in Lancer?
Albatross imo
Hmm...they'd be tricky to fit into this...but it does give me a terrible idea. XD
if i remember there was talk based on certain image hosting sites and issues w them.... who knows
MIRRORSMOKE MERCANARIES
i will always advocate for more mirrorsmoke
i think theyre a really flexible group that isnt explored much by base
Aun
Good News
They're a major part of this! As in 'the primary part of the plot' XD
snapsnap aun is a good one
Oh yeah i vaguely remember that
How are they gonna be represented npc wise?
In the absence of a aun field guide best thing I can think of is slap exotic (paracausal weapon) on things for hardlight lances
i gotta read those aunic and sparri field guide drafts at some point.....
That exorcist npc you mentioned also seems pretty in theme, especially given that aun tech tends to fuck with blinkspace tech
There was a sparri draft???
They're who you're working for!
Ooo
i couldve sworn so
The premise is basicly:
Milesia is in union space and very close to a blink gate but is not technically a Union World. They do, however, have an Aunic Embassy on planet. Minds Demicapo Semiramide and Domitilla are diplomats and were going to be competitors in the Iron Crown Competition...but then Aun and Union ended up at war. A lot of groups have gone 'Well, it's not technically Union space...let's see if we can get our hands on a pair of minds/their mechs.
The players have been hired to, over the course of a single chaotic night, get them from the Aunic Embassy to somewhere the Gardai can more easily protect them. All while dealing with various deniable assets and mercs making a run for them.
NO SORRY mixed that up with harrison
Incredible
I have an aunic mind PC in one of my IGF games
SSC offered them a blank check in exchange for their dna and a whole bunch of exams
And they took the offer
The Iron Crown Flashpoint has a lot of 'Oh, these guys are sympathetic' NPCs you might face. This miniadventure is supposed to have like 6-8 potential groups who are not sympathetic but are Metal Gear Solid Boss Weird.
Like the HA group in Iron Crown is an Over-The-Hill Commander making another pass at glory. The HA group for this is going to be the Literal Tankie running his treads over things.
Literal Tankie (Veteran Vehicle Goliath - Treads, Retribution, Self-Repair)
Cross class cataphract stuff so it can run people over?
Cataphract would be another tempting one, if vehicle didn't prevent melee attacks. That said, I might just say 'ignore that rule' and make them a Cataphract if I end up with too many defender-happy ideas.
A caraphract vehicle can still use the ram cannon as a ranged weapon right?
Yeah but it can't do the Grapple from Impale.
(I'm not a huge fan of the limitations vehicle puts on things. They're a hair silly imo)
Ungratefuls always rip
Only real rep is kobold really
But yeah, I hope the premise seems interesting.
oh no its infected the liminal space licenses too, poor rasputin has dissapeared
he was there yesterday so this is confounding... checkin comp con chat for help on this

pretty sure this is because the images are hosted via discord links and since the last time I updated the lcp discord decided to be a bitch about image hosting, so they need to be reuploaded... somewhere
my other main go-to for hosting images, imgur, is also a bitch about image hosting right now from my understanding, so it's something I'll need to look into
God I miss when there were good websites for hosting images.
same man
I've been using Dropbox to host my mechs, and it hasn't seemed to break yet.
GitHub is also a viable host
hey @barren pendant
if a magpie is exposed, does Ooh Shiny! give it resistance to the Ushabti if it's unshackled? or just two of the three pings?
if it provokes a tortuga's overwatch twice, does it resist both if it's something that already has threat?
if a goblin is in symbiosis, is everything it does halved against the magpie, since it's happening on another turn and that only happens under core?
You can never get resistance to Ushabti.
^
And nah, those are not directly affecting the attack. It's got resistance to like...damage that's part of the core power.
if my hydra's always-active drone is the shredder drone but i deploy the others, does the magpie now resist the shredder drone's damage?
So like Death Cloud and Apoc Rail but no, not Hydra or Tortuga or Symbiosis.
As the damage isn't part of the core power.
an uncored mjolnir procs off reload. there's no reasonable reading where that gets resisted but i'm asking these questions anyway so
It would bypass as it's being triggered by a reload but doesn't reload itself 😛
does a magpie get resistance to a whiffed bifurcate's 1 damage ping?
In theory but 1 rounds up to 1
if i pop tokugawa core, are my attacks resisted if the magpie is close enough that i could attack it without Radiance up?
That's a buff to your existing weapons, not damage done by the core power itself.
Much like the Shredder Drone question. XD
you said previously that it would resist coreburn sherman's ZF4. if i crack the laser and then stabilize again after that, does it resist that attack? does it resist a one-charge solidcore under coreburn?
...huh...hmm...I guess it wouldn't resist a coreburn sherman, yeah. I was wrong there.
If I'm trying to be consistant
gotcha
one more for the road, then. i wouldn't normally ask about homebrew but since liminal space was a project you were involved in: would gluttony's Annihilator Cannon be resisted if you attack with it and destroy it instead of expending limited charges?
wait this is a trick question on me
the gun has self heat, it's always resisted
neat
alright i'm going to go scrounge up a meal
Hey guys. I plan to make a third party forum post for By Star and Melody for the future to avoid cross pollinating quite so much.

Moving to a new thread for BSAM but this is what you're looking for!
Celeste got stunned and instantly died because it made my evasion 5
;-;
I did run twice across the entire map activating the objectives as best I can first
Basically made myself a big threat to success and painted a target on my back
Good news:
I got out of my mech, did another objective item, then sprinted across the battlefield and performed a jockey maneuver and flying dropkicked an enemy in the knee, killing the enemy mech
So I kept the Celeste vibe alive by just beating up the enemy mech with my bare hands
That is the most MO&S thing I’ve ever read. “I paid 47 cents and a pack of chicken nuggets for my frame, and you think THAT was the dangerous part about me?”
I just love as well that right in front of the enemy mech was an allied white witch with one of those superheavy drills. So they were squaring off and little David comes jogging up and drop kicks the enemy in the knee for a single structure, which it rolls a 1 on the structure die and is immediately destroyed.
Losing the mech doesn't mean the mission's over it just means it's more difficult
For posterity
Hello. I would like to ask if someone could send me the lcp file for this addon as i am incapable of making an account for the website it is available on. If this is not possible for any reason i apologize for wasting your time.
please
There you go
Thank you very much.
Looks like the Morgana is live on Retrograde, and the hacking lines on it are ABSOLUTELY SICK
Question: Temperance with Demolitionist, does the Temperance passive override the Demolitionist bonus allowing you to plant mines at +3 range?
It does, yeah. As it's an Entirely Different Way To Deploy Them
Noted
Does Legion only Heat you when you can't do the specified action, or does it heat you on activation and then deal additional heat if it fails?
It’s Heat to activate, then More Heat of LEGION tells you to do something you can’t.
Noted, thank you
That’s the risk for something that can be that strong of an action economy boost 😁
Got a question about Sorceress. Does arsenal die tick up on each individual shot of the array, or when you declare usage? I.e. does it go 1, 2, 4. Or 1, 2, 3, 4.
Each time it's fired.
So 1,2,3,,4

Honestly, I did not expect it to land that well but guess I did my job xD
For the purpose of the Hygromanteia Core Bonus from MOI, are drones meant to cound as deployables? If so, it sounds insanely good. If not, on the other hand, the Core Bonus is a bit underwhelming, as drones are easy to hit with or without +2 Evasion.
There is a bonus for deployables and a bonus for drones, not a single bonus for both.
Going from like 65% chance to hit to 55% is nearly a 20% drop in accuracy (10% directly, 18% as a proportion of base accuracy)
that is actually a calculation I can live with. Still, at very high levels, drones feel like an Endangered species.
Either way, thanks for replying that quickly. Love the Field Guide, love the fact that it has a printed version.
Yeah, to be honest it's a tricky area as I needed to account for both 'Normal Drone People' and 'The God Damn Hydra' 😛
As those are two very different areas of 'Drone Survivability'
I will admit I played it rather conservatively.
XD I am currently deciding between Hydra and Chimera (Alt from Suldan) and it's pretty hard
I think, if I had the power to turn back time I might have messed with it a hair more. Making it a little wordier but playing nicer with Weirder Drones.
Something like 'Drones with base 10 def/e-defence gain +grit to defence/e-defence'. So it works on normal drones but not 'Weird Defence Levels' drones like the Hydra or the Solomon's Core Power Drone.
But sadly the big thing that doing design has taught me is 'You have a million ideas on how you could have done something differently the moment it becomes impossible to change it' XD
I'm glad you like it, that's the main thing!
We did a whole standalone game (with supplements) like more than 10 years back and looking at it I still find little bits and pieces in the rules I wrote that I'd love to change.
tbh if the gm is spending actions shooting drones instead of actual player mechs that's a huge W for the drone player
On paper yes, but it still feels bad when your toys get destroyed
it feels bad to be destroying the toys too, believe you me
i'd much rather be shooting the mech
Oh, you're not going to like my latest assholes then 😛
Northwind
System, Quick Action, Recharge 4+
One hostile character in sensors clears 4/6/8 Overshield and all effects from itself or its allies that can end but are not caused by a core power. A drone affected this way is stunned and cannot affect other characters until the end of its controllers next turn.
Purification Ritual
Quick Action, Recharge 4+
Choose a Blast 1 area within sensors. In the affected area; all non-condition effects caused by tech actions immediately end. Drones and Mines caught in the affected area are disrupted and cannot detonate, affect other characters or be moved until the end of their owners next turn.
As the NPCs have a Few Ways To Fuck Over Drones.
Northwind clears overshield and buffs + turns off drones. XD
While Purification makes a zone of 'no mines and drones work here' 😛
source: I've been terrorizing him with a medea
Ah, 'You can't kill my drones if I kill them first'
medea makes the orzhov player in me very happy
I know I've mentioned it before but this was 100% the inspiration behind the Medea.
I actually did consider taking hygromanteia on it just because my drones were getting targeted but I ended up going with the one that gives you extra reserves instead because that's fun and flavorful for the character I'm playing (msmc legal officer, bitch, broker bond)
teysa my beloved

Can the Nimue 3 sword cascade?
It can, yes. It's an AI for all purposes, you're just holding it in your hand.
Does anyone have any guides to builds that make use of the Acedia's role as a mixed defender and artillery?
Or any advice on how the Acedia works in general to fill both roles?
House Guard 1 and deployable cover is a kind of absurd bubble to do its funny size warping cover
Hey peeps, has any of you got any experience playing a Solomon? I'd like to have some insights ^^
Well, I made it. What would you like to know?
One of my players used one, but yes, you got the creator right there.
Well I am currently putting together a group for a one-shot (my co-Lancers kind of left me in charge of all three builds for that) and I would like to use the Solomon as a Defender but right now I just can't figure out what other Licenses to pack in.
The group right now will be a damage focused Chimera (Hydra 3, Solomon 2, Medea 1), an Emperor that shoots its bow at everybody who just looks at the battlefield funny (Emperor 3, Gorgon 3) and... well, the plan is to have a Solomon, as Drone builds are pretty good at supporting each other and I think the overshield from Goetia, Emperor's bow and 2x Drone Commander should be quite relevant.
I just... got no idea what other licenses to pack in with the Solomon.
It's a bit of a basic suggestion but with Two Drone Mechs, getting some Hydra for Puppetmaster would be great as you can move your drones and the drones of your friend.
The Solomon also does really well with Napoleon toys (It's got a good save target, even if it lacks a tech attack bonus). If you want to make that horde of drones really frustrating, Banner of Living Hope/Hypostasis Banner from the Amakusa gives a 1/3 chance the first time each drone would be smashed for it to hang on at 1 HP. Kannon is also just a really good defensive NHP, though the first two ranks offer a lot less to the Amakusa unless you plan to get up in melee yourself (And if you do plan to get up in melee yourself, the Plasma Wakizashi makes you really dangerous to walk away from)
Thanks, those are some nice ideas. How do I always forget the Napoleon?

Would this effect activate House Guard 3?
Hmm...I think it would count as 'reducing the damage'.
It's a little bit sideways but it certainly fits the intent
As your friend is less harmed than they were before
I'd say 'yeah, it makes sense to me/the Amakusa working with House Guard is very thematic' 😛
(Honestly the Amakusa uses House Guard kinda disgustingly with how it has a trait to replace guardian's purpose and then can just Get Guardian Back as well)
I was making a sibyl suite + enviromental analysis build with feth fiada and needed an extra 3 licenses in MOI, after seeing this my build idea completely changed to a support/defender kinda build
I'm glad you like it. XD
All the guns can't be burn, right?
Nope, variable damage is always Kinetic, Energy, or Explosive.
Any tips on how to make the Justice Frame's passive ability work inside combat?
And in general how the frame works/tips on a build.
while absolutely not the intended use case for it, i think you can use it to nullify an early meltdown result
just tuck it into null space and it can't blow up
What about the frame in general?
Slight concern and point of annoyance, the CHESS system.
It feels incredibly powerful and flexible to just +-2 heat for 2 SP on LL1. At present I feel like it's too much for a single LL1 dip
It also locks you out of a stabilize is the issue
There’s not actually that many builds that wanna abuse it, I’ve seen certain Phoenix or non-Sherman Andromeda users
The big thing is that the Chess system is very prone to 'I am a genius: Oh no!'
It's great if nobody else is putting heat on you and you want Regular, Low Heat Each Turn.
But the moment you start dealing with Tech Attackers or other sources of 'oh no, extra heat' you either need to entirely discard the system to save your own ass. XD
Okay so the Justice works really well with a fast ally.
As the ability to appear next to any friend means if you've got a speedster who can make it halfway across the map, the Justice can go 'And I'm here too!' on its first turn
I've done something like that with an Ace 3 Orchis build, to help a jager kunst dusk wing player
Generally, the Justice is designed to be a good short range brawler who can protect allies at basicly any distance.
They do great with Sharangas in a slot, as that 'if you're allied or far away, I give cover instead of harming you' means that a quick action to skirmish with them can give cover to 2 allies in Range 15.
Aye, gotcha
Wait can it not attack outside of range 8 because ninth plague just gives soft cover to targets outside of sensors?
It seems like a very potent frame, just one that has no immediate benefits. Only synergies
Yeah, all attacks outside of range 8 turn into 'give cover', letting you use ranged weapons (Especially AOE ones) as cover providers.
And yeah, a lot of its benefits are more how it Hooks Into Other Things, I'll admit. The biggest bonus by default is being able to hold off appearing until you take your first turn. It means you can appear wherever is most needed/get some Bonus Movement that first turn.
I love Justice tbh
It's super fun to just whip out a Krakatoa and say "okay so first I hose down the squad with my flamethrower"
Also threat 3 Krakatoa
Delicious
I just love the gigantic (both literally and figuratively) Kamen Rider reference tbh
If you Miniaturize it, you can shout "Henshin a gogo, baby!"
Building a Silversword with some Black Witch systems (Mostly Magnetic Shield for damage res and cover).
Have a question about the trait though, I can end one condition caused by enemy tech on me at the start of my turn, does that include Stun from certain Npc systems as well?
there's a specific #1233277997742690314 thread now
'things that refuse to die'
ooooh
Jack The Ripper is the famous serial killer they never got.
right, that's not exactly refusing to die
but it is "Only considered a MO&S mech by the most tenuous of connections"
Likewise the Kelly is Ned Kelly, the iron-armoured bushranger who took multiple shotgun rounds and had one of the police there to catch him do a full on 'Oh god, we can't kill him' horror movie breakdown.
o yeah, that one i know
what about Holiday? I assume it's referencing Doc Holiday, who I know exists but don't know much about beyond that
i'm like 80% sure he was a cowboy
That one @empty kraken will need to explain. It's some sort of Yankie Guy I'm too Australian to understand 😛
Doc Holiday was a dentist in the Wild West who got a fatal case of tuberculosis and had a bit of an extremely gendered confrontation with mortality about it. He took up gun-slinging to die "like a man, with my boots on" & proved so goddamn good at it that he ran out of people willing to draw on him
Ultimately dying in his sickbed
Depends on the version you read or see
hah, nice
Though the mechanics of HOLIDAY are actually inspired by fkn Soul Calibur, specifically Kilik
A fighter with a staff who can fight at all ranges and specializes in none of them; he puts himself wherever you're weakest
so does "DI/E-S" stand for "Die Standing?"
Correct
nice
Likewise Trash/Ballast is a tuberculosis reference xD
lmao
Local mech has TB
But DI/E-S is also just
You win the quickdraw
Yee, and I cannot express to you with enough gravity the deadly seriousness of my intent, haw.
ALL OF THAT SAID
There's one exception to the overall name scheme
DONNER, named for people who had every chance to live & died of their own stupidity and racism after multiple opportunities to not die
In a related story nobody likes DONNER pilots
I'm sure somebody else got this figured out way before me. The Nimue's NHP-blade... does attacking with it count as an NHP-granted action for Iconoclast, or would only the rainbow blade special attack count?
Rainbow blade.
Got a question about this, does "Can't voluntarily break engagement" mean that you can't actually use knockback on weapons? Cause it'd break engagement. Or is it only limited to movement?
Yeah, you can't Ram or Knockback (Unless it's non-optional for one reason or another. Knockback on weapons by default is up to that value so you can still swing all you want).
It's a persistent shiny at a cost.
You can however Grapple + Walk with it active.
Bring the Meatshield With You
I see, makes that makes sense
Knockback on weapons is actually all or nothing, not up to. But you can still opt for "nothing" for the knockback so
This means you get the bonus damage from the trait and the accuracy right?
Yep!
You pick one guy and he's gunna have a Bad Time
Hell yeah
Has anyone talked about whether the deterministic Impair on Orator makes the Pride too strong?
I'll admit, I'm not super familiar with Orator/It didn't exist when Pride was made. XD
Orator 1, specifically, lets you automatically inflict Impaired as a reaction after using the Scan Quick Tech action on a character - it doesn't proc off of any Scan except specifically using a Quick Tech to do so (so Chomolungma doesn't proc it, the MO&S scanning core bonus wouldn't proc it, etc), but the Impaired just happens, and the target can only clear it with a successful end-of-turn Systems check (which, since Impaired applies to that check, means that a target with a bad Systems score is likely going to suffer it for awhile). It's a very nice rider effect on Scans, and has been a big component of my support-focused Taraxacum build (especially when aiming for Orator 2 and 3's effects that require making no attacks or forced saves on enemies to build up).
Pride definitely benefits from it, though I think ideally the Pride most wants a teammate to be using Orator 1 to set up the Pride for extra damage rather than using it itself, since I don't imagine most strikers want to spend a quick action on Scan if they can help it
pride can already get its bonus damage for free just by hitting people, I don't think orator really makes it overwhelmingly stronger or anything
it can even do so on a single quick if you have a mount that's 2 auxes that do energy (lead with the secondary aux, hit, attack with the primary aux, hit, resolve the impair before damage to get the bonus)
What are the best ways I can make use of Acedia as a defender?
That's what I'm thinking - the Pride can already just Aux/Aux skirmish for the Impaired, so Orator is nice but isn't likely to put its gameplan over the top. (Superheavy Mounting with an allied Orator could enable bigger damage stacks, but I don't think the Pride wants so much of its action economy sucked in by a Superheavy to begin with.)
I know people say House Guard 2
Mostly wondering about what sorts of deployables I can leverage to make myself and others tanky via hard cover
if dustgrave breaks anything in limspace, it's superheavy mounting zou yan, which gets extremely silly with shit like the siege cannon or hurricane cluster projector
when you can just throw giant superheavy-level aoes indiscriminately into your allies
Superheavy Mounting tends to be a good one to be wary of when looking at combining Dustgrave with older homebrews that couldn't account for it, yeah
'Just dodge' - Zou Yan Pilot
(My playgroups don't go for Superheavy Mounting to begin with, so I don't tend to worry about it.)
Ironleaf Foundry luckily already had most frames with like a billion weapons so superheavy mounting doesn't mess with them much.
Except one. Who ended up getting a third mount. XD
poppy my beloved
we stan queen of guns
re: acedia I'm unfortunately not familiar enough with it to make good suggestions
my heart says drake stuff because bunker cool
For a brief time, this had 2 flex mounts. XD
And I'm not letting people Superheavy Overcalibur Strike 😛
Hey, so what is great with it?
Characters gain RESISTANCE to Kinetic and Explosive damage *while benefiting from this cover*.
all allies adjacent to the ACEDIA benefit from the cover regardless of their frame’s size or position
Turns magnetic shield into an omnidirectional field around itself
Holy
Takes a deep dive into Black Witch but the Acedia bunkers down with friends like there's no tommorow.
On the other end is Dusk Wing 3's Oasis.
This barrier grants hard cover to adjacent characters, and characters that benefit from this cover also gain RESISTANCE to Energy Damage.
You'd need to be LL 8 minimum to get both/is a lot of actions setting it up, mind you (And relies on you never moving once set up so won't work on all objectives)
And to add a third to it:
When an attack is made against a character that benefits from this barrier’s soft cover, roll 1d6: on 4+, the attack is consumed by the barrier and has no effect whatsoever. The barrier lasts for the rest of the scene, or until you deactivate it as a quick action.
This effect does not stack with INVISIBLE
The Acedia loves 'Big shield effects'
Yeah. Black Witch is the most natural flow from the Acedia into another mech as it's got a good few defensive tricks.
But Napoleon also does a lot.
As you can sill move + charge stasis bolt on turns when you can't shoot because you're wandering about.
Black Witch is really just a good, solid license in general.
You will certainly not regret 3 levels of license investment in Black Witch

1/round, we may deal +1d6 bonus damage with an attack against an Impaired or Stunned character.
We can't Hide or benefit from Hidden, though.
no that's in trans day of visibility
what are some cool Ultra traits for a Harrier?
If you want the players to give up on beating the Harrier to death and transition to beating you to death, there's Argus Armour.
A more serious one would be Superior Frame.
As Slowing the Harrier can fuck with Blistering Reply normally
Now, if you wanna be a dick but less in a raw stats way?
Repulsion Field
Did you know 'adjacent' is 'Within range 5'? 😛
'You shoot at my friend, i teleport next to you, repulsion field you and then get my Blistering Reply Shot'
Iki my friend
Who hurt you
Players. That is why they must Suffer
Different kind of "player" that deserves that!
Just want to double check, if a donner uses grisly feast on a size 1 wreck it heals someone 3 HP right ?
Depends on the HP of the wreck, 25% of it. So for a size 1 with 10 HP that's 2.5, rounded up to 3.
(can also heal itself)
Well i know who I'm coming to when i wanna make In Golden Flame harder cause i chose a 6 player party, haha
You seem to be a master at making foul monsters
Sadly making Bad Star competent would kinda nullify his character, or he'd be perfect to turn into a Harrier
the players do indeed need to suffer
indeed
hm. looking at the pistolero im worried it might be too tanky, is it generally a damage sponge in actual play or are its mechanics for ignoring hits not as bad as they seem?
Also, A Pistolero and its hat. Seccom era raleigh refurbished in the modern diaspora. Nevermind that the Raleigh couldn't have been developed during Seccom
Because your players put the hat where they want when the pistolero uses their reaction, I've found that they aren't particularly tanky, they just have the ability to negate certain big hits
The Pistolero is very tanky against gunlines or teams with no crowd control.
But if you can Engage With The Hat, it becomes a lot more fragile.
Ah, mustve been a me thing, then, I had a Caliban able to keep the pistolero from their hat for all the time it was alive
pistolero basically exists to make people who do one big heavy-tier skirmish a turn with no crowd control sad
I think that's the Harrier becoming adjacent to the target, not the other way around.
yeah this guy is gonna make my CPR sherman miserable
thats ok
hoping the mourning cloak with knockback and stuff can do a decent job with it
I've never fought against a pistolero, but I try to put either Puppet Systems or Ferrous Lash on every mech with enough LL.
Hey can someone explain to me how Ninth Plague works
prevents friendly fire and also limits attacks to within sensors
The wording is just a bit odd for my brain
So like.
Whenever you, the justice, would end up friendly firing an ally, it instead gives them cover?
Okay now my new question
How does Pride and Vlad synergize?
They seem like they do
Or... Hm ok time to acheme
Vlad? Spiked dude from core? I don’t see it, but I’m immensely curious
Unless you meant Tepes, the Envy Alt, in which case I could see it and am ALSO immensely curious
So two of its weapons use energy damage, first off, and lighthouse beam stacks with combat drill
Take the superheavy mount core bonus to be able mount that last weapon
Even if you just go 1 vlad to get snare and the impact lance
Lim Space wasn't designed with SHMount in mind, so it might not be officially compatible
in case, like, that matters to you
I know Amber Phantom had an extra flex mount injected in specifically because of SHmounting
LMAO I've done that
it'd be Nice if we didn't have to do this whole roundabout song and dance with the thing, but. what's done is done.
One of my other alt mechs that I've designed straight up just says "This Mech is not compatible with the iconoclast talent"
So i get it
Yeah... it's why I have to play with a "Core Plus One Splat" rule for any one mech. Had players with three different splats at the table, but each had ONE
... I like my Tepes
I remember looking into this back when it was being designed and released and didn't see anything gamebreaking
Also regarding the pride in particular; it's harder to activate and make use of its 1/ round bonus damage with a superheavy
(Or impair)
Charity's core power, if the character gains impaired and slowed then can you only give another character one of those conditions or can you give them both?
Yeah to further clarify, it's not like the amber phantom existed in a long time state without the third mount, it wasn't even released without three
the primary reason I wanted to close that loop off was because it has an agnostic bonus damage trait
if it didn't, I probably wouldn't care so much
Hm. Enthrall would be... interesting with the Hecatoncheires
One character of your choice within Range 5 of one of your deployed Drones must succeed on a Systems save or suffer +3 Difficulty on all attacks that do not include the Drone as a target until the Drone is destroyed or the end of your next turn.
A Razor Swarm counts as a Drone for the purposes of you and your allies' systems, talents, traits, etc. but is not a character and is otherwise considered to be a zone on the battlefield. It does not obstruct movement or cause Engagement, and hostile characters cannot affect the Razor Swarm in any way.
Hm, I guess this could technically already happen if you use Ptomely's Swelling Greed invade to steal an NPC razor swarm
Hi guys, does anyone know how wrath's All The Guns work with executioner1 talent?
If i hit any target, do i get to attack someone else for half?
no, you can't
it's the same reason why you can't backswing cut with a loading weapon - all the guns can only be fired by the full action core power, so you're not able to make another copy of the attack as a free action
Thanks for the clarification
exe 2 & 3 do work though
Only executioner 3 works iirc
As All The Guns is a main
Unless I'm forgetting if it says it counts as all sizes
It does
So do you not get to choose the damage type for the Reliable on a miss?
reliable should always inherit the base damage type of the weapon, but it just can't be burn (technically, burn-only weapons would default to kinetic, but i think many people default it to energy instead)
is there something specific in lim space where this is in question?
It says you choose the damage type on hit.
oh, i didn't even see that. sloppy wording i guess lol
though I guess you could argue that the on-hit is redundant with the variable damage period
I guess the way it’s worded you’d call the damage type base for Reliable, and against any target hit you can change your mind? Seems messy.
if a damage type isn't specified, it's kinetic
I'm pretty sure it's Burn if a weapon would only do Burn damage. Maybe you're thinking of Bonus Damage?
reliable burn doesn't exist in the core rules period, so it depends on whether you consider burn a normal base damage type or not
so i guess it could go either way technically, but i'd be inclined to extend the rules on bonus damage here
Point is you're referring to non-existent text. If you are going to add reliable options on full-burn it's best to specify it to avoid confusion, though the default is that it would technically work as Reliable.
celeste skirmisher moments
celeste moments in history
"I have a main/aux, I dealt rolled 4 damage. All of you take 24 damage please"
I pressed the funny button
Two motherfuckers live
"Something happened"
I became the AOE
And suddenly David was the prettiest boy at the ball, and all the stormcallers wanted to kiss him
So we were doing the damage for each shot that lands, and since I was skirmishing and the two weapons managed to get 11 shots between them. Does this mean the 11 damage gets added to each shot? All together at the end? Or did the 5 from the first get added onto that series of shots, and the 6 from the second get added to the second series of shots?
Cause I tagged one enemy with one shot but not the other
Or do both shots add the full amount of landed shots? So both get +11?
That may be silly if it's that one
Were they 11 hostile targets?
As it's +hostile targets hit, not +attacks that hit hostile targets.
Each attack that hits deals bonus damage equal to the number of hostile characters hit during this movement.
There were a total of 8 hostile targets
5 of the first shots landed, 6 of the second shots landed
Then it's +8, as 8 hostile targets were hit.
(But remember: The second shot of an main/aux skirmish can't do Bonus Damage)
Ahh fair
I think any that it could have killed it did kill
just for a bit confused cause it said "each attack that hits deals bonus damage" and I think forgot that the aux can't do bonus damage
Still, pop pop 😄 I am now being chased down by a pair of jerks
Yeah, it's powerful but not quite that powerful 😛
I mean I still covered 34 spaces of movement that turn, if not more thinking on it, attacked 8 individual people and killed 6
Powarful
I went from one end of the map to the other, zig-zagging across the distance, screaming the entire time and firing at everyone I passed within 3 squares of
“I shoot the enemy.”
“Which one?”
“Yes.”
The scariest thing I've had to do so far is hold my ground, since we're trying to keep control of spaces and I couldn't keep a distance from the enemy or I'll lose the point.
I’d imagine so. Celeste doesn’t like standing still
I mostly play over on DFG frames, though. Drop a Sloth onto a point and it’s not going anywhere. “This circle is conveniently hammer sized. So is your face.”
The good news is I'm tangoing with an elite and the artillery so doing some fine distraction work
I will admit its my first time running a liminal space mech
And MO&S could use me to advertise the damn things right now
Yay!
I saw the potential and Celeste paid off. A small exploding accident earlier but I think I could have saved that if I'd remembered a rule
I do wonder about the frankenstein stuff I added onto it though, it seems good at first, but I probably could have just put the extra SP it cost into hull to survive a hit or two more, I'm just not sure what would have been a good combo on it
then again the exacerbator gauntlet is super awesome
and I suppose meatshield is too I just haven't had a chance to use it yet
If you deploy the flauros turret, do you take the heat cost or does the drone?
Is it one where you're firing the weapon as deployed as a drone?
If so: yes, because all it's doing is giving you an alternative place to fire from
Would be the same interaction as putting overkill on a Ghast nexus, I believe
threw several Strikebreakers at my party. They absolutely loathed them (affectionate).
I feel like building a mech again, which of the LS frames should I build around?

A Support/Defender that packs some extra punch with the Andromeda laser, being able to ditch heat very easily as it can Stabilize often for plenty of value. Its low speed is counteracted somewhat through Skirmisher 2, Spaceborn 1, one of its frame traits, and that it's not melee.
The Plasma Wakizashi's are there as a threat in case enemies do get into melee range, either with overwatch or just skirmishing/barraging.
Very interesting.
So the Donner’s cannibal lunge. I’m a little confused how it actually works?
Free action, then your next action has to be skirmish or barrage
according to compcon :V
let me check my book actually
That part I get, but is it a triggered free action. Can I use it before backswing cut. If I skirmish and use it after am I just locked out of my turn ?
Big oof
Makes me wonder whether wording more along the lines of Skirmisher would have worked better 🤔

Set up in a way to maximize how much it can do while Burrowed through hiding, improving boosts, and even damaging enemies through explosive vents + CHESS System. When you do unburrow, the idea is that you're able to deal some serious damage with a good chance to grapple. When not grappling, Lashback Whip + Skirmisher should allow you to get adjacent to enemies if they move anywhere within range 3 of you. (You won't be using the knockback portion of this unless there's multiple enemies that for some reason want to grapple you)
With a self-contained grapple package and Burrow being so limiting (with it also denying Protocols for one), there aren't a whole lot of different things I can see the Zahhak doing well. It's also a must to damage grappled units, which prevents shenanigans to grapple your own ally/drone for a more range-oriented build. Burrow + Emerge are also pretty action-heavy, further limiting just how much you could get out of that.
I like the Zahhak conceptually and in play, but the build variety it offers is marginal at best
Yeah, Burrowing around is very action-heavy and I've seen first-hand how easy it is to get a Zahhak build that just can't get much done between all the actions it's sucking up doing its gimmick. You definitely need a particular build to get the most out of it.
Free Action Lunge -> QA Skirmish -> Backswing Cut & Other Executioner Stuff -> second QA eat wreck. I feel like I’m missing something, it flows pretty well honestly?
Its definitely a funky one, but its essentially Hunter 1 on your heavy weapon but the effect is loading
Oh, you thought you could only use those actions after, not just your next action immediately after? :o
If you choose to move this way, your next action this turn must be a skirmish or barrage action. Effects that load or unload weapons can be used to load or unload this action.
Yeah, Twas a long week lol

Okay, if you have Combined Arms 3 on a Carmilla, and stab someone with data, do you get the bonus to your next ranged attack?
I believe so. You still made an attack that hit
I'm really glad about that!
... need to learn how to put together an lcp
the LCP maker beeftime put together is reasonably competent
It's not perfect, but it does well for the majority of purposes
Liminal Spaces was also one of those pieces that got me inspired to actually try and start doing homebrew!
...which might explain the three manufacturers in our first project but. shh dw about that
I'm really hoping people like my next project too (Even if Editing for that is taking a while and is not super exciting)
we mean, from what we've taken a look at for it, it seems solid
You just gotta be careful to not overextend yourself when doing homebrew as one person, compared to the output of three people. 😛
(Liminal Space set the bar very high for projects, but it's important to keep that part in mind.)
(Yeah, there's a reason By Star And Melody is a lot smaller in stuff and even then, I likely bit off more than I could chew XD)
Turns out, that's really easy to do.
"What's the harm in adding one more thing..." turns around to see the 20 other 'one more thing's
we would love to take your advice but we're already... two years we think into the grim work and still have a fair amount of stuff to do
at least one of the manufacturers is complete, and the other is like. 1.5 frames from it
The trick is you can compartmentalize and split stuff off into new projects. That's what I did with some of the more tenuously connected stuff from Iridia.
"Oh, this doesn't super relate, I'll save this for my next project and focus on polishing up the stuff I already have."
In my case it's less 'making things' (I do that to de-stress) and more 'Time to Do Editing, this is like pulling teeth solo' XD
For my own homebrew I'm thinking 1 license, 1 alt frame, and some core bonuses. One per core corp
Reigning in the scope a bit as i originally also wanted a few talents and specialty licenses
We do have
...an entire manufacturer that isn't super connected to the core conceit of the thing we're building and is set up to have 3 less frames than the other two at least
but the fluff can be adjusted and... we dunno it wouldn't feel the same without them
and also that's the one that's mostly completed
Yeah, that's the problem. 😛
"Oh no, I actually have to do work around this thing I made. Like edit. And/or get art."
It's always just food for thought.
Since, yeah, not always applicable.
immediately lost my mech again ._.
Difficulty standing up to enemies in an area, plus taking on an elite and stormcaller at once
Not even hull will save you there 😔
my team's got the objective though
gathered some of the strong fuckers in a corner while the team's taking down the backup
Nice 😌
I probably should have just left them there but I was trying to protect the point
hooray we squeaked through the encounter with my pilot standing on the point and just pushing over the edge
Any one you walk away from
Or limp, as the case may be
I'd definitely say that while my Celeste/Frankie build was decent, and pulled its weight, I would love to try it in a more regular sitrep. The middle combat kinda used a ton of resources in this one, which meant that we scraped by in the end. The other issue being that I was often the only person who could access a lot of the distanced control zones, and once there I had objectives to do and had to hold my ground.
I think I would have been better actually just discarding the objectives and flanking around the enemies to blast others to pieces, acting like the Scout from TF2.
It just wound up that there was a lot of distance and a lot of winding paths that my mech could get around decently but then I'd find myself alone and trying to hold down a spot, rather than hitting and running like I should.
Does the full PDF for Liminal on Drivethru rpg include the LCP files?
Or seperate purchase?
.lcp is a seperate download but the LCP is free.
Even if you don't get the PDF
Does that include the LCP for the NPCs?
It does!
Neat.
The Book has a lot of fluff and art and such but yeah, to play stuff you just need the .lcp.
I haven't actually looked at your full build (I miss a lot of stuff due to being at work) but are there any odds you could flip the script, fly the Frankie with Celeste tech and get somethin' a little tougher?
oh there's definitely a decent chance of that yeah.

So this could work with the frankie alt frame, Jack, pretty decently
cause Jack works well for a single target focus, flank and violently stab people to death build
I'd probably shift the systems a little and put them in hull, or at least spread them between hull and engineering for some extra health
Yeah, 0 Hull at LL6? No wonder you blew up.
Yeah xD Like I remember you mentioning it before, which is what made me think of the flip
+1 Armor per lost Structure won't always save you, but Frankie does get harder to kill the more she dies
I have a frame that's the opposite; loses armor the more stress she lost
Oof
And yet I am immediately interested
It's weird to say given that, y'know, MO&S are the Never Die guys, but I tend to uh
Commit to fanatical high-risk aggression when I get the chance to play nearly anything
It warm in hell
I stand by my stupidity. To be fair we had someone who could give out overshield on the team so I was expecting a buffer
To be fair the first time I blew up it was a mistake cause I forgot I could have switched my structure to a stress.
And then we had a lot of resources drained from that fight and the second time I blew up I had committed a board wipe on the enemies and cause the dm to speed up reinforcements by a turn or two
Even then, putting the two into hull is probably a good idea for a bit of extra health
At no point was I disappointed in what the Celeste could do. A mixture of bad dice rolls, my own slip ups, and some horrifically hard fights meant Celeste took the brunt of it at times. In that final fight we also lost the white witch and the kidd, while the other two mech were down to nothing to swing around as weapons. The middle fight had claimed 3 core bonuses and we still lost it, and my mech, meaning we were low going into the final fight
Yeah, I was the GM for this one and trust me, this was not ideal conditions for basically anyone's build except maybe the White Witch and the Kidd (and even then, they got worn down big-time by the end). Support mechs had trouble keeping up with their teammates across maps that were often 30+ spaces on both axes, with multiple objectives to tackle in both the second and third fights, and intentional ratcheting of difficulty combined with miscalculations on certain aspects on the opfor and the choice of sitrep for combat 2 meant a lot of these fights were very brutal on all ends. Even encouraging rampant homebrew mixing on the player end didn't even the odds, and might have led to certain big tricks the party was hoping to pull off being shut down more easily than expected.
Leika's Celeste was putting in basically as much work as possible and made huge differences in every fight, especially the last one. Under other circumstances, they could absolutely have been able to rely more on their Kidd to reinforce them and their other teammates to take the heat off of them - however, they were instead forced to go far afield of them most of the time in order to hit direly needed objectives, which meant the opfor was able to isolate and beat on them to a degree that otherwise could have been prevented.
If I had reined in the difficulty just a bit more, we might be talking about the Celeste that danced around everyone and never got punished for it
Actually I got ask how exactly do you run a Jack?
honestly about the same you run a blackbeard or a balor or a celeste - you gun down a high priority target and kick its shit in, a lot of your other toys start kicking in when the rest of the opfor tries to intervene
you have a QA that's just better lock-on for yourself, which converts into free damage and CC on ancillary targets
The one thing I will say: Jacks don't like targets with better mobility than themselves. XD
If there's an Elite Ace, you might run into 'get the fuck back here so I can hit you!'
Meteor jets is free damage for running people down, climbing axe & Persecution Drive solves when they may be faster than you, Meatshield is huge survivability and Ripper Reflex is just... 'hello I am also a Vlad now'
The Jack really seems like the anti-defender mech. You pick a big guy with a lot of health and you make it suffer
And I do agree with freaky, the first fight we had the celeste was all feast no famine, and even the next two fights, brutal as they were, were feast until they stop me.
So basically pick a high priority/tanky target and just brutalize it. Roger dodger.
You really work on one guy at a time but that's not that different than a BB/Balor/Vlad
You don't have a bodyguard balor build? Tsk tsk
Am l understand it right that the first sentence is unrelated to the second sentence.
Yes, they're unrelated.
Good day i wish to yet again ask someone to please send me the lpc for this, as i lack acces to site where this can be downloaded.
You want this one, actually
Is the pistolero not supposed to have any systems??
How do you mean, that all its things are Traits, or that you aren't seeing where its optionals are, or something else?
@mortal trench
Like it only has 1 system as an optional, everything else is traits
I believe that's intentional so that you can flavor it as just an exceptionally skilled shooter, if you wanted
Just caused a bit of confusion and frustration when the pistolero rolled a destroy systems structure and had no systems to destroy
oh, when that happens, you destroy a weapon
and if you have no weapons you can destroy and no systems you can destroy, you get a crushing blow instead
so everything being traits actually makes a 2-4 on structure potentially much more devastating
Yeah, never forget that a "destroy weapon"/"destroy system" becomes the inverse when there's no valid targets for either, big thing that makes sure structure damage always has some impact. Pistoleros only have the one weapon, so things get real bad for them if they ever suffer that result.
Oh whoops
Would the Warden's Death Before Dishonor trait prevent it from being Demoralized by Orator 3?
Hmm...
I'm gunna say yes.
Orator didn't exist when I wrote Death Before Dishonor
But it's very much an effect that Controls Its Actions (By dictating it can't take hostile actions).
I think if I ever reprinted the Warden I'd likely reword its effect to make it a hair more understandable.
The intent is that it negates both 'I control your actions' and 'No, you can't do that' effects. For example, it punches through the Ptolemy's 'You are limited to only basic actions' hack and the Mourning Cloak's Terrify..
And also gates 1 and 4 of Osiris?
Yep that one i was certain about

I'm excited
Hahahaha. Oh your players will hate him.
Her, actually
if they don't despise her by the end of the sitrep i would have failed with my goal of motivating them to stop her plans
what do ya'll generally use for Harrier tokens?
Retrograde’s charioteer honestly is great for them
It feels dirty to cross the 3rd party streams but vibes is vibes
you must balance it by having a suldan NPC using art of a LimSpace frame
Can temperance use it's mines on itself
Like could it use a repair hibe to heal to max?
You are a character and you are adjacent to yourself!
Hell yea! Thanks
hello o/ is the strikebreaker's detain makes characters not count towards control zones correct?? cuz it says they cant "interact" with it, so i dont know if in this sense "interact" is the same as "count" but. it feels like that's what its going for :/
Yeah. Counting for them is a sort of interacting. I used broad terms becasue there's a lot of different ways that objectives want people to interact with them. Sometimes it's standing in them, sometimes it's dragging them along etc.
yep
If I have a weapon with knockback, and I put the cupid mod on it, does the push happen before or after the knockback, or can I choose?
If I remember correctly, the Lancer ruling is that effects happen in the order of the player chooses?
My partner says "thank you" and also "mwahahaha", haha
My partner specifically asked if she would be able to move people like a knight in chess
He is also considering combining that with Sunzi portal shenanigans 😂
Entirely legit. In other news, I once tried to describe how to move like a chess in lancer terms and it gave me headaches.
Meant to type knight. Even better
Motor Fault is too weak compared to Balance Control Lockout, and Cut Brakes is super situational.
Yeah, this is super old homebrew that just came to mind due to 'Oh hey, I remember that time I tried to do a knight-moving mech'
Isn't Balance Control Lockout frame-locked, though? I've done a Prone invade, and it's pulled its weight.
Yeah bcl is chomo exclusive
Am I alone in thinking Wrath's All The Guns is way too good?
It's powerful but it's also a little fiddly to use. Generally core powers are best when saved for an important fight but Wrath can't really reliably do that as any weapon loss is also a direct hit to the core power's power.
I've GM'd for one a couple times now and it didn't feel too bad, mostly because its limited enough in having to pick up things to get it to 6 weapons + having to actually stand in the center of a bunch of enemies with no allies involved + having to hit in the first place. like in terms of damage to the opfor its honestly somewhere on par with chomolumgma core for me, maybe even less so
and it doesn't remotely compare imo to the strongest cps in the game in gorgon or iskander or smth
I just had a really wrecked experience where the Wrath hit on 4/5 in Round one and the other 3 PCs picked up 3 NPCs each, decimating my entire OpFor in Round 1
I just treated the wrath as a large walking aoe until it spends core
since it's pretty easy to keep NPCs from clumping up and you can funnel the wrath to the right places
also, I'm not super surprised about 6d6 killing 4-5 dudes - pretty lucky rolls though. but how was it reaching the bulk of the opfor round 1 with only movement? did it OC boost or pankrati?
but if the rest of your party can consistently kill a single NPC in one turn that's potentially a different problem for encounter balancing, and you should probably have much more reinforcements or tankier enemies? otherwise that encounter would have just been 2 turns instead of 1, no?
It had both OC boost and Pankrati
I guess so, it would have been 2 rounds
