#Field Guide To Liminal Space
1 messages · Page 7 of 1
That's healthy imo
Yeah, it would be kinda boring if you just sat on it all battle waiting for structure rolls.
I want this to be freely spent
why waste it on accuracy when you can use it on a structure roll, right?
Exactly
Or Recharges yeah
Or invis rolls
The earmarked 'make this change in case of too much alpha striking' that's not currently done but might end up happening is 'only start with 1-2 but you get 1 more at the start of each round'.
Mhm.. I don't think that's necessary? It doesn't increase the ceiling, just the floor
and it's still random how high the rolls are in the first place
Yeah, hence me not doing it currently
offensively you want high rolls, right?
And really, if you get lucky with the 5 D6's for this system, is that really that much different than getting lucky with the 5 D6's it replaces?
It skews RNG in your favor, but not by a huge amount, I think
compared to the average result
Yeah. That and I think 'No, your turn is my turn' is a very tempting core power. Being basicly an Instant Osiris.
Sorry mate 😛
I don't know how to feel about this betrayal
'Stealing an entire turn and making it yours, no-save' is still plenty good 😛
for a core power? maybe!
It's like a stun and the capabilities of said character in one
If it's still a bit undertuned you could make it "Until the start of their next turn" then you don't get to control two whole turns but at least they can't pull reaction shenanigans on you
That's fair
Yeah, and you could even potentially use that enemy's reactions on their own allies
I would definitely try to cram this onto my sisyphus builds. My kind of playstyle
Cauldron of Plenty
Very rare even on Milesia, the Cauldrons of Plenty are powerful nanotech printers unconnected from Union's network. Nearly impossible to replicate, they are capable of producing vast quantities of medical supplies, ammunition and repair material at a moment's notice. To Union's great shock however, they are capable of the one thing that no other printer is yet capable of and something that was thought impossible: Food printed by the Cauldron is delicious.
3 SP, Exotic, Unique
You have the Extra Rations pilot gear in addition to any others. When you or another allied character in Range 5 Stabilizes or when an allied character Rests, they can be restored to 1/2 of their maximum HP without spending a Repair. Gain the Feast of Heroes Free Action.
Feast of Heroes
Active (1CP), Free Action
Choose any number of characters in Range 50. Non-mech characters are restored to full HP, while Mech characters may immediately make any quick action of their choice as a reaction.
How does the Cauldron of Plenty seem? it's designed to be a much more dedicated Support Alternative, that messes gently with the Repair Economy..
Hmm, wondering how much use being restored to 1/2 HP is as that seems to be near the point you'd want to stabilize HP anyways, but that'd be good on OCloop builds and other Stabilize heavy builds
I'm not sure how useful 1/2 of max hp really is. If you're below that it's generally better to spend a repair anyway. That said, it's a 3 Sp system so mhm...
The Feast of Heroes... seems really broken with the free quick action on top?
The problem I have with feast of heroes is that to get the most out of it you want your allies at low HP, but you can't afford to wait for a situation like that.
I was about to recommend a version that makes it a rest benefit then realized I just described NAPTIME lol
As such, it might be better off as a reaction? Mhm
Hmm
Or something that's used after they actually lose structure or the like
because right now it feels more like an offensive core with some healing strapped on
Could remove the Stabilize clause and just make it so that when your party rests all of your mechs restore 1/2 of their full HP(rather that being restored to 1/2 HP) with no repairs
Or at that point even full HP
Wait, hold up
I missed the stabilize part of the passive
That changes a lot
I like that one a lot, actually, the passive.
The restored to 1/2 health with no reps on a Stabilize?
The 1/2 on rest is mostly just to stop people sandbagging fights 😛
so is this cauldron and founding stone stuff for a new thing or just a future update?
'Look, you get it, no need to go stand in a circle before the fight ends'
My only issue is the active core for it
Ironleaf Foundry. A Quartet of Exotics based on the Four Treasures of the Tuatha De Danann
I'm sorry, it's very early and I'm very easy to misinterpret things. Is Ironleaf Foundry a future thing?
Though I'm not sure how a printer allows your allies to do more stuff, I think giving it an action might be fair yeah
Homebrew that Iki's currently working on
Yeah, it's my next project.
Thank you, sorry for asking twice but I need to be sure 🙂
It's looking very good so far 😌
There was that other hombrew corp but the 1/2 dueling frame vibes won out lol
my autism sometimes is rough to deal with comms wise
Oh don't worry it's fine
Asking twice is normal
(I mean, I didn't even realize you asked twice lol)
Honestly, this one is the trickiest as I didn't want to make it just 'Heal up to full' (As the corp has a healer mech) but a 'Never ending Cauldron of food' is a very hard treasure to base a mech system off XD
Look, I'll just be blunt, i REALLY do forget how... Accepting lancer's discord is AS A WHOLE to neurodivergent quirks
You drown your enemies in food slowing them down lol
I'm Autistic myself and if anyone's a jackass over that I'll bitch them out (Or throw them out) myself 😛
Yeah, it's nice
So its effect is a printer, right? What other things could a printer do, since you already have part of the heal on the passive effect.
well, it's less being a wangrod, and more the casual ableism you just find from uninformed normies
Iki bringing out his mech to throw hands lmao
An Unbeatable Spear and a Fabled Sword are a lot easier to design for a mech game than a Cauldron and a Stone.
half of us are secretly also neurodivergent :p
ADHD rep here 😌
so about Feast of Heroes
So what if... you pull ready-made things out of the cauldron? Choose one: lists three effects
Like pick a 2 SP limited system, or replenish limited charges, or... whatever?
would it be absolutely broken if for that Core Power, the quick action used also gave an ACC ONLY to that quick action?
Could also make Feast of Heroes a power up yeah
in my opinion, it already looks pretty broken with the QA alone even without the heal. If you have a group of 4+
You gain OS and extra damage because the food was just that good
Basically a knock-off Sagarmatha CP at this point but yeah
I've never liked "broken" as an argument as there are broken things in the core rules, and most other 3pp designs if your friends white-room enough
I mean, sure, but powercreep most of the time isn't a good thing
I use broken as a shorthand for being too strong, unbalanced
The tricky thing is 'Sag Core' and 'Lancaster Core' yeah.
Yeah
Well Lanny's CP doesn't give OS or +1d6 damage so
You pull out a fresh mech from the cauldron
Oh?
Lmao pulling out a fresh new fit from the pot
TBH a CP that can only be used during rests does sound pretty cool and unique
Basically a buffed version of Grease Monkey 3 for the cost of a CP
I was thinking it could be used mid-combat too though
Oh fair
But it's a rough concept
(Hillariously, that was the original version but people were very iffy on it)
still shudders at my friend's Star Anise from Castor & Pollux that creates invincible concrete pillow forts around objectives and holdout zones
Oh lmao really?
amazing xD
bring it baaaack~
It invalidates like half of the sitreps XD. Though I second the idea that an out of combat CP would be unique. I don't see why folks would be iffy on it myself
Active (1 CP), Full Action
You or one allied character within 50 is restored to full HP, Structure and Reactor Stress and may clear all heat, repair all destroyed systems and clear all conditions and statuses they are currently suffering other than those caused by their own systems, talents and traits etc. If their mech is currently destroyed or they are dismounted, they may immediately be mounted into the mech, which is placed in their current space (If there is no room for the entire mech, they are instead placed in the nearest free space) and no longer destroyed if it previously was.
Here it was!
'You, Full Fucking Heal'
👀
Ayo?
But a Rest CP-
No no, a pilot with a stealth suit sneaks over to the enemy... and then their ally uses the cauldron on them, spawning back their barbarossa :V
clearly I make it a Start of Battle CP where you just swap the mission type to Holdout, as the printer starts just Making A Solution to the current problem and the enemies need to stop you 😛
(This is not serious)
Ha!
You could use it to flood the battlefield with objects and stuff
That'd be hilarious though
Drown em in printer spaghetti sauce
Laurel + Rangertail with MOI core + that CP = GM: "What is my purpose?"
are you kidding, I'm stealing this to challenge my star anise player
Hahahah
Oh... OMG... he has to use every bit of his power to hold a cracking damn under tonns of water
yoink
But yeah, I'll ponder things. The Spear and Sword are going to take some Pondering to make them interesting but they're realatively easy compared to a Rock and a Cauldron 😛
Instant Castle from the Cauldron....
thing is, there is a part of me that wants to suggest something outrageously dumb.
Wait that's Kobold
but there'd be no way to balance it
Oh god, how much fucking sauce was there?
Free Action
For the rest of the scene, the battle is zero-G. Your allies are concidered to have mobility systems for this.
oh yeah that reminds me
But yeah, I'll ponder some things. The Sword and Spear in this case are both rather mythical weapons but both have clear Identities.
I need to find crappy clip art of ramen ingredients for my metavault enemies
But actually hold on you might be cooking something over here, a multi-round CP that charges up like ApocRail does sound cool
Let Him Cook: The Core Power.
CORE ACTIVE - START A RESTAURANT
Lugh obtained the Spear of Assal (Irish: Gae Assail) as fine (éric) imposed on the children of Tuirill Piccreo (or Biccreo), according to the short account in Lebor Gabála Érenn which adds that the incantation "Ibar (Yew)" made the cast always hit its mark, and "Athibar (Re-Yew)" caused the spear to return.
In a full narrative version called Aoidhe Chloinne Tuireann (The Fate of the Children of Tuireann), from copies no earlier than the 17th century, Lugh demands the spear named Ar-éadbair or Areadbhair which belonged to Pisear, king of Persia. Areadbhair's tip had to be kept immersed in a pot of water to keep it from igniting, a property similar to the Lúin of Celtchar. This spear is also called "Slaughterer" in translation.
It could be either a Flaming Spear or a spear that never fails to hit the mark but either way, the spear has some concrete identities to hook stuff on.
Oh God I somehow misread that as "the spear has some concrete ingredients to cook stuff on" how the hell-
And the sword is...well, it's pretty much the archetypal mythical sword.
Mhm mhm
I don't know your life, but I will happily suggest hydration, food, and sleep if you are feeling out of it 🙂 (speaking of, I needs water myself. HYDRATE BEFORE YOU DIEDRATE)
Being the inspiration for excalibur
That one I 100% know what I'm doing fluffwise.
Big ol' Line 50 of death
stone on sword? insert puss on boots scene
The MOI Solaris is a Stolen Knockoff of the original relic 😛
Because MOI's are very much Culture Vultures.
'That's a nice historical artifact. We'll take it'
The best kind of vulture
So is it gonna be a 3 tile wide line 50 of laser death or-
getting british museum vibes there.
100%
MOI are like 50% east india company, 50% british museum, both dressed up in 'oh, we don't do those bad things any more' (But we're not giving back anything we stole)
needs to write up an MOI salesman who ALSO just blantantly makes up their own cultural meaning to stuff to better sell it like the dinosaur bone wars
Hahahah. It's going to be similar to the MOI version but tuned up a bit. Among other things: The 1/scene zap being upgraded to a 'worth spending core power' zap.
Nice
Likely Cone: Large.
Oh yeah
OH YEAH
Cheap Knockoff, tsch
BEHOLD
50 CONE
skitters to corner
Front Towards Enemy indeed
BEGONE, ONE-FOURTH OF THE MAP
This being how it is though, it does make me pretty sure I don't want to focus on the Flaming Spear option for the spear.
You'll like one of the limit breaks in ICON
And I'm thinking more the 'always hits its mark' aspect for the spear.
Just steal that one CP from SAE
This is by no means a real suggestion, but what if, Spear Does teeny tiny damage on actual hit, but does more reliable damage on miss XD
1 CP, Protocol
For the rest of the scene, this weapon always hits. Attacks are only rolled to determine if you crit.
😛
Just because Iki made MOI doesn't mean he's like MOI!
(Again, not really a serious idea)
He made both homebrews it's (probably) completely fair
Hmm... HMMM
It's about the principle
Also: Yes, this is where Fate got 'Gae Bolg is Fated To Hit' 😛
(Since the thornbush with skin aftermath version was a bit gorey for it to use)
That weapon name still makes me giggle a bit but yes
see, I can think of a balanced way to do that.
for the next 1d3 attacks, you automatically hit, rolling attack dice to check for a critical. If you do hit a critical hit before you run out of allowed attacks, this core power is refunded.
Hmm...hmmm
(well I won't say it's balanced, but I will say it's balanced to all the shenanigans my party already pulls)
Could also make it ignore Invis and Hidden, and give it Reliable x
...I think I know how I'll do 'never misses' for a core power.
Big single target damage.
Like the Gravity Spear?
If the target saves, they suffer no effects but both the Core Power and the action are refunded
(But No Repeats stops you spamming it until it hits)
makes sense
If it would fail, no, you didn't use it.
Because it always hits, so if you didn't hit you clearly didn't use it
I'm always a fan of Efficient or Psuedo-Efficient CPs
Something that plays nice with Universal Compatibility
If the target saves or would be Immune to the effect, the core power and action are refunded.
Oh actually, what are the sizes of both weapons?
Not yet sure. One is going to be Main, the other Heavy.
bleh. I love you all but I'm headout. I had some vienna sausages for breakfast cause it's end of the month time and now I gots bologna burps.... >.<
As I want an option for mechs without a heavy mount.
Oh sweet I can put them both on one mech
And an option for mechs with a heavy mount
(end of month meaning the awkward time between grocery monies)
Cya later
Adios chief
Seeya!
I'm not sure if I want the sword or spear to be the heavy currently.
I've been making some Heavy melee weapons for SSC and HA to fill some gaps. A Heavy weapon with burn would be especially nice for Shock Wreathe
Me with both the Exotic Sword and Spear, Universal Compatibility, and really good luck(Sisyphus)
I feel like the Spear is probably heavier than the sword
A spear can be very light, a sword can be very heavy. But you could have a glaive instead, and an arming sword
Would also justify its extended Threat along with its other shenanigans
But yeah I guess some spears can be light yeah
The heavy should be the weapon with burn, imo!
That is likely the Sword.
Shock Wreathe goodness intensifies
...hmm...I think I know what I'll do with the Spear.
Make it a really good Throwing Weapon. You're paying SP, you can have a Better War Pike 😛
Lugh obtained the Spear of Assal (Irish: Gae Assail) as fine (éric) imposed on the children of Tuirill Piccreo (or Biccreo), according to the short account in Lebor Gabála Érenn which adds that the incantation "Ibar (Yew)" made the cast always hit its mark, and "Athibar (Re-Yew)" caused the spear to return.
...Accurate?
Hey iki, want to... see what I made for my own Spear?
...actually, idea.
Throwing, Arcing Melee weapon with that trait that the Saladin's gun has.
'Can't suffer net difficulty on attacks'
I mean, is the sword(it's based on) one-handed or?
Hm, can't easily copy paste it in spoiler text
The sword can be either (the sword of light is in more myths than some gods, it's been basicly everything)
Oh damn I see
If two handed, I'm likely to make it a heavy claymore style blade
Zweihander time
Well, I'm curious
Aetherstrand Javelin
Flavor
Heavy Melee
1 SP
Accurate, AP, Thrown 8
Threat 2
1d6+1 kinetic damage
When you throw the Aetherstrand Javelin, you also attack all characters in a Line between you and your target. You may retrieve the Aetherstrand Javelin from any distance as a quick action. All characters in spaces between you and the weapon take 2 AP kinetic damage when you retrieve it.```
Interesting
This felt like a good SSC heavy melee
But yeah, I'll ponder some ideas. For now though: Sleepytime
Night Iki!
Hope some good ideas come to you in a dream
I return with gas medication and swollen feet. How are you folks?
i don't know if my GM will allow 3pp yet
Does Gyrojet Pistol not seem somewhat OP?
It's a better Stub Cannon on all accounts
(Well, arguably except for damage but I think Reliable 1 is better than +1 average damage)
Same thing with Rook MMG honestly
It seems like a Kinetic Hammer -2 damage but with way better range and utility(being able to act just like 2 ARs), but I guess it's weighted a bit more differently with the existence of Executioner
(And there's also the fact that Warthog from Suldan exists which while being only 1 LL lower is a lot worse than Rook, but that's a completely different homebrew so it's not as valid a point)
No. Superheavies explicitly cannot be used to Overwatch. Otherwise you could Overwatch with an uncharged DD or an unspun Levi
I'm pretty sure Overwatch just allows you to Skirmish as a reaction, the reason you can't OW with Sheavies is because normally you can't Skirmish with Sheavies
So if you could Skirmish with a Superheavy, then you could Overwatch with it, assumedly that they trigger it of course
yeah, because overwatch is specifically a skirmish, you could pop Tyrant 3 with it
because it's not "you can fire a superheavy weapon when you skirmish," it's "when you would skirmish, you can fire a superheavy instead"
though either way, it looks like the talent is back on the grawing board
Champion's Blade
When the Airgead Barrow was first opened, within its halls a quartet of swords were found. These barrowblades at first seemed to be nothing but a hilt and would be too large for an unaugmented human to hope to wield comfortably even if otherwise. However, during the attack by a hunting megafauna, a young defender in an exoskeleton grasped the handle of one of the swords when her own rifle was knocked from her hand. In this moment of danger, a dancing blade of shimmering rainbow light was revealed as thin as the gap between life and death itself.
Attempts to store the swords for long have proven rarely successful, the weapons being found again and again when the desperate and the hopeful need something to turn the tide. The one exception to this is a single sword, locked behind powerful metastatic barriers and sealed with chains of hereticode in the vaults of Magnum Opus Interstellar, stolen during the creation of the Blink Gate near Milisea. Attempts to reclaim the weapon legally are stymied in Union courts by the Corpostate's lawyers but the people of Milisea believe that one day even that blade will once more be free to defend those in need.
Main Melee
1 Heat (Self), Smart, AP, 2SP, Exotic, Unique
Threat 1
1 Energy Damage + 5 Burn.
On Crit: One character in Line of Sight gains Overshield equal to your Grit.
Active (Requires Core Power): Heroes' Grace
Protocol
Gain (6 + 2x Grit, Maybe?) Overshield. For the rest of the scene, when an allied character in Range 5 and Line of Sight would suffer damage, if you have overshield, you can suffer the damage instead.
Third of the Exotics and the thing that MOI stole for the basis of their own weapon 😛
Damn, no cone 51 Excalibur 😔
Yeah, I ended up basing it more on the blade often turning up in myths as part of a quest or something to save the hero against a foe that otherwise couldn't be beaten.
(Don't worry, the spear ended up with an AOE)
The original is a better sword than the knockoff (It's got the On-Crit) but the MOI knockoff has a 1/scene extra shiny instead of a 'costs you core power' one.
I hope the fluff seems interesting/justifies it being an Exotic?
Where's my heavy with burn for shock wreathe, Iki?! 😔
Do I need to make it myself?! (I made one myself)
One day, we will have a first party HA frame with a heavy melee that does burn
One day
It'll also cost like 3 heat but yeah
The core replacement only functions well if you have a way to generate overshield for yourself, so this would be a cool Emperor weapon, but... It's kind of awkward for everyone else
at its core, the weapon reminds me of your other 2 Sp main weapon from LS
What about OS that regens at the start of your turn?
Eh, the core replacement is designed to come with a Big Overshield (That I'm trying to work out the right value for) itself.
Yeah, but after it runs out it's dead in the water and feels awkward
It should, it's literally the prototype they based their own one off.
the nagging feeling of "if I had a way to get more OS I could keep using it"
It's got the on-crit, though I'll admit that's not SUPER reliable.
That's a fun little lore bit
The on-crit gives it to an ally, not yourself
iirc unless specified otherwise you can't target yourself with those effects
If it's intended to also work for yourself though? That'd solve my main issue with the core power
I do think it might just be a... little overtuned, the base weapon
That's why I went with 'one character' instead of 'one allied character'
You're not your own ally but you are a character
Yeah, that would be a bit more Clear
I'm worried the damage might be a bit high even considering the heat, but let me check some others just to be safe
I mean, could also make it so that the OS comes back at the start of your turn, or even that you don't need the OS to retarget attacks
The other one that's being done is the Spear, which has a Core Power but the spear itself is still being tinkered with a bit for how it works.
Active (Requires Core Power): Ender of Armies
Full Action
Choose one hostile character in Range 10, ignoring line of sight. The Spear of Flame lashes out across a Line 8 area from the chosen character. Hostile characters in the affected area aside from the chosen character must pass an agility save or suffer 3 Burn. The chosen character suffers 3 Burn and 3 kinetic damage that cannot be reduced in any way for each character in the affected area, including itself.
The affected area is set ablaze with the spears passage for the rest of the scene. When a hostile character passes through the affected area or ends their turn within it, they suffer 3 Burn.
It does AOE damage.
Ah so this is where MOI stole the line 8 Excalibur of death
Compared to the Torch, which deals 1d6 energy + 3 burn with overkill and 2 heat gen for an average of 4 + 3 burn, this sword deals 1 AP + 5 burn for 1 heat. So much less heat, more reliable, more burn, with the AP making up for the 1 lower damage even on the initial hit.
It's better than the Torch, damage-wise, with the 2 SP paying for the on-crit and core power. I think it should lose a little bit somewhere
Maybe! I'll ponder things there.
(Nimue Blade is, btw, one of my favorite weapons in the game)
Same amount of damage as the Claiomh Solais no?
Could also lose the heat and some damage just to go all in on the OS gimmick
Yeah, but no on-crit effect
It has the On-Crit, which the Solais lacks, yeah
or add another point of heat gen
Yeah so maybe just a more defensive version of Claiomh Solais
Either one of those works imo
How does Ender of Armies seem for a 'if people grouped up, they're going to suffer?'.
That's a lot less burn than Sword of Rainbow Light
I'll check later I need to check something else real quick
For a CP no less
True but it does a LOT more to one dude 😛
Since the Primary Target suffers 3 Burn + (3 Kinetic x Number of People In Area)
Hmm,
kinetic damage that can't be reduced in any way*
But this seems fine? Line 8 means it's going to be hard to get that many characters in the line. Catch 4? Damn, lucky you!
Yeah, a big part of the value went into 'only people in the AOE get the save, not the primary target. He just gets fucked'
(put this on an emperor to increase the damage by 33%)

(change this to a heavy weapon to avoid that)
Maybe. Would let me avoid nerfing it's stabby values relative to the MOI one 😛
But yeah, gunna tinker around with the base weapon for the spear, as I want it to be Arcing + Thrown but the specifics are up for tinkering.
Fun story; I made a Metalmark alt without a heavy weapon instead
Arcing + throwing would feel fitting with the core alt
Yeah, mostly just got to figure out the exact values for stuff.
(And I do hope the fluff for the blade works)
Throwing 8-10, AP, Kinetic, burn, arcing
All of those values can be tied to the core alt you made
I'm terrible with fluff, but I'll have a look
"Attempts to store the swords for long have** rarely proven** successful" switched order of those two words
Hmm, I feel this could have a tad more ties to paracausal and less myth. But that's likely our personal preferences clashing
Yeah, that one is very much a personal preference thing. I'm trying to lean a bit more into Myth and Personal Connections with the Exotics rather than just 'Biggest, most high tech'
Yeah, I do like the mythical aspects, but I like to tie in a hint as to what causes it in some way. A tie to paracausal entities or events or the like. Anyway, it looks good
I bet the Champion's Blade will be a monster on White Witch
Brace to give itself OS with the core up, the WW can keep its armor without it rolling over since its using the alt core
The heat is a small problem but not a massive one in a post-CHESS world
...okay, so Dragonkid is doing the latest season of Mechanics Brewery and has said I can enter an Ironleaf Foundry mech.
The tricky part: Working out which one.
Scilla because it's a literal spaceship which is funny
Rose since it's kinda the premier frame of the corp(I think?)
Or Rowan because THE TOWN INSIDE ME-
Oh wait no Lily is the premier frame of the corp right?
...actually, I know why Rose.
Oh?
Rose because it currently has both base art and a splash page art 😛
And youtube is visual 😛
Speaking of which: The Rose did get a couple of minor tune ups based on feedback.
The Polyfilament Kusarigama got +1 Threat added to the 'during your turn, expanded theat'
And the Dancing Shadow Module got a bit less 'double or nothing' (But still very much an element of it)
In addition, when you Brace, you can attempt a final dodge. If you do, roll 1d6. On a 4+, the triggering attack automatically misses. Otherwise, you are hit as normal, expending the Brace but gaining no effects of it.
If you fuck up and just Eat Shit, you get no effects of the brace (Positive or Negative) instead of only eating the negative.
Is it meant to stack with invisible?
It's supposed to be it's own thing. As brace stacks with invisible.
It's turning the 50% damage resistance gives into '50% chance for no damage, 50% chance for all the damage'
Mmmmm, hydration
wardur
Monomania Clover 😌
Potential Redo of the Iron Crown core bonus.
Putting picture instead of just text because it's got a Table.
I dunno, not being Stunned any more is a pretty big increase in 'not going to turn one structure into another structure'
You're paying a core and aside from no impaired and a less grievous stun, you get the same penalties but with a marginal upside
I like the upsides myself. And I know three of my players would swap to this immediately
So 2-4 and multiple 1s could use some more juice imo
Hmm...I might make 2-4 a flat +4 bonus damage instead of 1d6. To give it more Consistancy but not more overall power.
I think it can afford more power.
It's bonus damage that only applies if you got structured, and not like you're going to use it on your main gun
The way I look at this core bonus is this: it gives a random bonus when you get structured of which you have no say over. Each of the bonuses should hold enough power to be worth that on their own since you only get one at a time, and then a little bonus on top because it's random.
I argue that some players, myself included actually, would enjoy core powers that are more passive and use less active planning
I mean I'd argue the 5-6 result on this table is fuckin sick
and worth the price of admission by itself
I like 5-6 and 1 as well, but I think the other results need to be on par with those
I'm not arguing against the rng, I don't want that removed
Perfection of Skill
“Really, who’s going to stop me? You?” - Ceridwen, Albatross Lancer
Core Bonus
You gain +1 Accuracy on Non-Weapon Melee and Ranged Attacks. In addition, you have Resistance to damage from Grunts and Subordinates.
Perfection of Skill also got a tinkering with as basicly nobody liked the 'when you get taken out you can Do Some Real Nonsense' option so now it makes you resistant to Minions 😛
I like this
I was just ignoring the previous option, but this is just fun
That said, the previous one feels like it could be a kind of power at a cost option? Not sure where in a book you'd put that
(Clearly the grunts just need to fragsig you since you don't get resistance to heat!)
Is subordinate a new thing?
It's 'non-template grunts' basicly, yeah. I've done a couple of them.
They're a nice way to have less lethal but tougher chaff
Specifically designed around the chaff role
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1P9O0FS3wjPA1321EFV1jC-9IZK_2hHPSJq_WT0c7I8M/edit?usp=sharing Here is one I did for example
Digger When war comes, it is not those in power who pay the price. They call upon the young, telling them that it’s time to put aside their hopes and dreams and to serve. They give them weapons built by the lowest bidder and march them out to fight the young the enemy has drummed up in the sam...
Comes with their own themesong "diggy diggy hole"
Not that sorta digger 😛

Digger is a slang term for Australian Soldiers, as our first major was was WW1.
So it's designed as a very 'Poor Bloody Conscript' sort of NPC
The Price Of A Mile
Trait
When the Digger is destroyed, roll 1d6. On a 4+, instead of leaving a wreck it leaves a size 1 Flag object with Evasion 5 and 5/8/10 HP. This object counts as an allied character for objectives and control zones until destroyed.
So it's a very Plays To Objectives Subordinate.
As I've been pondering including my Subordinates in for the NPCs of Liminal Space.
As having some Really Chaffy Enemies helps the more 'epic heroes' feel that IF tends towards.

Look, I might have spent the night with that song, 'The Band Played Waltzing Matilda' and 'I Was Only 19' playing on loop when working on the Digger.
It fucked my mental health for a day afterwards but got me really in the zone for making an NPC.
it is absolutely one way to set the tone
I've just been using conscripts with other npc readouts, though sometimes I take away their "two move in a turn"
*loadouts
I really liked how I did the Subordinate Controller. They're very much the 'guy with a gun' sort but they're super tunnel visions.
Damn, OK, that's pretty brutal
Tunnel Vision
Trait
When the Watchdog Sights an area, it narrows its scope to unleash its firepower against any who enter that sightline. A non-hidden character entering a Sighted area for the first time in a round must pass an agility save or suffer 5/6/8 AP Energy Damage. If the Watchdog is jammed, stunned, destroyed or moves, even involuntarily, any areas it has Sighted are removed.
With various things Sighting areas of various shapes/sizes.
Like the base thing being a Protocol that Sights a Line 10
But it having a Cone 5 option too etc
So it goes 'I don't have the situational awareness to be proactive but I can pick my firing line and if you walk in there, I'll open up'
Ah, the 2fort battlements…
very inspired by rookie sniper players, yep
Include an optional that forces anyone who kills them to wear an ugly hat
Ooh, this is a great thing to add.
Vaguely pondering if 'drones' should be added to it but pretty happy with it.
... lets you do fun plays with tempests, nice f-you to engineers (but not perfect - they still hurt, and still have flack)... very on theme... I'd say go for it.
Hmm, feel like the resistance should be on Perfection of Form instead as that feels like the defensive Core Bonus compared to Perfection of Skill's more offensive purpose
Could always make it add damage to non-weapon attacks like OPCal
True but I think Perfection of Form has a fair bit of spice as-is, while Perfection of Skill is the one that was lacking it a hair.
Like, Rams, Grapples, ImprovAttacks, etc. now deal +2 or so damage
Can the user of the Meatshield Protocol voluntarily apply involuntary movement to an enemy that would cause it to no longer be engaged (Knockback, Ferrous Lash, etc)?
Also, how do Sticky Charges interact with Hunter 2?
must be reloaded before either profile can be used again (instead of being retrieved like most thrown weapons).
reads to me like it doesn't, tbh
i would say no, since the system specifies the only way you can voluntarily break engagement
can the amakusa fight the other intangible guy?
like with his CP
2 intangible units can they fight each other only?
not sure how that works
Intangible characters can interact with other Intangible characters.
Yep! Intangible people can only interact with other intangible people.
badass
The Amakusa puts himself and the person who hurt his friends in the Timeout Box
this means this never misses?
Only on a crit but yes.
Sorry, this one ended up with a slightly annoying wording due to how lancer does timing.
Invisible for example is a 50% chance to miss regardless of attack roll. This goes 'Nah, roll anyway. If it's a crit you can ignore the thing that would have made you miss regardless of attack'
For another example the Ace's Barrel roll is a reaction that is 'No, that attack missed'.
It won't work on a crit PPC shot
I hope that makes sense?
Yeah
The general idea is: 'On Crit: No, I Fucking Hit'
Overiding effects that would steal the hit from you
PPC is probably my favorite weapon in the game NGL
Hmm...got to write 2-3 paragraphs about 'who are IF' and then I can send the Rose off to the Mechanic Brewery.
"imagine if the Irish lived in space and thought they were smarter than you"
Bah 😛

https://docs.google.com/document/d/11e3ajbNTLkIH3ZGAB7nAXmMs-izmAUS5PLBzhdb3roc/edit?usp=sharing How's this look for a quick overview of who Ironleaf Foundry are? Getting the Rose prepped for the Mechanic Brewery Contest.
IRONLEAF FOUNDRY The order had been given. For the sake of Union, a world would die. The First Committee was ended, PISTON 1 was launched and billions not yet born were sentenced to death. There were some in the Union Space Program who could not stomach this decision. The so-called cost paid for ...
Hmm
I feel it lacks a bit of emphasis on what they are, compared to how much focus the intro has on how they got there
That's fair.
A Peek Behind The Curtain
This part isn’t really part of the formal IF Rose document/won’t be in the final thing but I wanted to lay some stuff out with theming as I’m a worrier about the theming with just the Rose on it’s own
The overall theme of Ironleaf Foundry is Celtic Mythology, in particular the Invasion Cycle and the Cattle Raid of Cooley. It’s about playing a Larger Than Life Figure who acts more like a hero out of myth than a person with feet of clay. Living well and dying well. As a result, a lot of their stuff is about being Risky (The Solstice Knight reaction being powerful but uncertain to always work, Iron Crown applying when you get hurt, Orbital Drop Training letting you get dangerously ahead of your allies).
A lot of the inspiration from Ironleaf Foundry comes from stories of the Tuatha Dé Danann standing against the World-Poisoning Gaze of Balor or Cú Chulainn facing down an entire army. Also, if I may be frank, a bit of the Battletech Clans. It’s hard to avoid some influence from them when you’re making ‘Wow, you guys all suck. We’re going off to make our own society with Cool Robots’.
Regards,
Ikiryo
Also wrote a bit of a section sorta explaining the general 'vibe' of IF, on top of me planning on redoing that intro bit.
Darn
Anyone got a good nimue build? For the rainbow blade spam max burn and damage
Do u think soulstone is worth?
Soulstone is pretty good but a bit more of a Support Tool, as the nimue is very action hungry.
A good thing for the Nimue is going Amakusa 1.
The Servo Gauntlet lets you get long-range people up in your face or set them up for a good line with the Rainbow blade
Redid it a hair to focus a bit more on that without being a full rewrite.
Just the attack. The beam is honestly already pretty damn powerful (Especially the Ongoing Shredded)
I'll have a look later, not at my PC atm
Fair nuff
I wanna spam that as often and as hard as possible
Bisect mechs and then set the remains on fire
Super striker shenanigans
For LL6, 1 amakusa, 1 pegasus for hunter lock
What other LL would be good?
Or instead of pegasus, 2 toku for the batteries
Shame u cant run 2 ai, I wanna lucifer + rainbow blade
Monomania on Nimue is a personal fav

spicyy
could swap the tokugawa for that
external bats is a bit risky for 1 extra threat
also Idk whats better, duelist 3, glad 3 or pankrati 3
all 3 are super flashy
I'll admit, I don't know Gladiator well myself, so it's hard for me to judge XD
custom move
EXTREMELY custom move u can use once per scene
or twice
but extra heat is just nuclear cav bait

Oh, that's very fun. I can see that being really good with the Very Fancy Sword, yeah.
Throwing the fancy sword
Is such a meme
Tho
Glad 3 seems great
But idk what to cut for it... pankrati 2?
Or risk it and cut nuc cav 3...
Duelist is too good for easy prones
Honestly, I can see sticking to Gladiator 2. The second use is nice but the extra options are not that key.
I've had builds using 1, 2, or 3. Seems very nicely balanced that way
"Ironleaf Foundry is the premier manufacturer of Milisean technology, once Milisea learned about the end of Seccom and contact with Thirdcomm was re-established." Aaand then that sentence seems to cut off? What happened once contact was re-established?
Other than that, this looks good!
So does the copy of a weapon attack with Ptolemy keep the same accuracy and difficulty?
Like, if I'm engaged when I shoot, is the mirror's attack at +1
?
Nope
So I can use it with Uncle?
Theoretically, yeah, though the first shot will still have the difficulty.
Basicly: The copied shot only cares about your state when it's fired
Not when the original was
As I don't want people to have to go 'Well, I've fired this three times...was I engaged 3 turns ago?'
'Diff Laundering' UNCLE shots with the blink mirror sounds.... fascinating
The big problem is that you're putting three levels into a license that doesn't give any energy weapons.
The other downside I feel is that you're likely using UNCLE to fire your Main Gun.
So yeah, you'll miss. But you could have hit 😛
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1f3GGtWnPhYAMICdsWlEUxfPpBhVhY8DsZJAyBxJ1PpM/edit?usp=sharing Finally put the Scilla and Laurel in the base document.
IRONLEAF FOUNDRYLILY Controller/Striker The Lily is the first mech frame developed by Ironleaf Foundry, though it has become very indicative of the style of their designs. Slim and graceful for a mech, it bears more resemblance to a heavy hardsuit with impressive weaponry than a frontline frame....
lcp update for IF
as always, if there are discrepancies between the doc and the LCP, the doc is correct and you should ping me
disregard that because I just noticed that I forgot about the heat cost on shredder ribbons AGAIN
ok this should be good
Somehow the heat cost deletes itself.
I've already threatened iki with mysteriously not putting any poppy nerfs into the lcp
🤫
Hahahahah
Sweet, thanks. I'll be sure to add that in when I submit the Rose to the Mechanic Brewery Contest.

All weapons can be energy weapons if you nuke cav enough
If you knock someone 5 squares into the air with the claymore buckler, do they take falling damage?
Sadly it won't let you drop them in mid-air.
When you cause a character to be pushed, pulled or knocked back, they can pass over and onto obstacles of up to Height 5, counting as flying during the movement.
They can pass over but you can't go Straight Up. So it's more 'arc' than 'vertical'.
(Though you can totally put them on top of a building they have no safe way to get down from)
rip to "auto crits flyers" gloriosa
.........wait, im just noticing it now, does the poppy not have art?
oh! its just not in the doc, yea i coulda sworn there was
Oh, I need to add it to the doc, whoops
Do we have like, a lore doc for Ironleaf foundry? :0
im curious
There is, though it's partially done currently. I can share it if you want though!
i can wait till its more fleshed out! im a bit busy rn, so i probs wouldnt be able to set aside the time i WANT TO to read it, lol
Alright, tossed the Rose into the Mechanics Brewery thread.
Alongside the art for it
Not seen one from Kai yet. He might be a bit hesitant over 'Done First Party Work, Already Very Well Known'
Mhm, I guess that's fair. Did you all pick anything from LS?
The Houdini and the Egg were winners in the first one!
Ohhhh
And also the fact that the entirety of Suldan was already covered

Well, minus the newly added alt-frames of course
Do love the egg, but franky really is the quintessential MO&S frame.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xMxwGEyEZTQ The Houdini video is one I'm still happy with but also one that I feel a bit awkward over as it's a video about a very early Houdini version that's not super accurate to how it ended up in LS.
Here comes the first of many magic shows!
Profile Page (Houdini): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1JWnZFtoyzLi49ZQPvjjcsMO2KQcUC9xN0susPJGjY7Q/edit#heading=h.2rtzwfgp6j7x (Page 3)

Massif Press main website: https://massif-press.itch.io/
The content of the video is purely for parody. All artworks, ...
ahhh
See: Video happened before art was even got for it.
makes me want to work more on my own homebrew, but last week was hell x.x
The Rasputin video holds up a lot better as it's much more of a 'this is how the thing ended up overall'
But that's not remotely a knock at DK. More 'DK pointed out enough problems that parts got rewrites'
still, I like that DK is getting more videos out
also, Iki
should have just made perfect mechs that you don't need to change to begin with, would solve all issues!

I don't think the alt-frames got covered, unless I'm misremembering
those were a later inclusion
Makes sense.
but I do feel like having had a whole series covering my stuff, it feels a little ungracious to try and petition for more spotlight time over other people
Yeah, even my 'had one video for the Houdini' made me hesitant enough to ask DK directly if I should stay out of it (Though he did say I should enter, so I did in the end)
I should probably just ask him, yeah
Yeah. The worst that could happen is getting a "no."
Well, I guess the worst that could happen is a "how did you get this number???", but...
Yeah, mentioned that afterwards
The Alts were newer introductions
I had to go back and check, it's been a while
If you did it, what do you think you'd submit?
The Reaper Dart is the only one that currently has art for it which seems like a point in its favor, though I do think the Gajasura (the C&H Kalista alt-frame) has a lot going for it in terms of how its various components mesh together
Reaper Dart would be pretty cool.
Reaper dart is something a lot of people will love, with ordnance being so disliked
the actual comedy option would be to submit the Kangto Endochassis core bonus
LOL
I'd love that xD
Submit something from that person who plagiarized you
squeeze in some arcane (and super silly) synergy options like superheavy comet with Anni nexus (which only works in Kanto since comet has 3 mounts)
gigabrain core siphon to skew the odds even harder so you get a +2 accuracy/+2 difficulty PPC for free every turn
Followed by spamming ranged denial with all your freed up action economy ig??
ack fuck this is what i get for backreading
right
i never did understand what all the intangible stuff on nimue/ptolemy was supposed to be for
Honestly in both cases it's mostly Soft Crowd Control.
Pushing some asshole into the shadow realm so he can't interact with stuff.
ok that makes some sense
just buying some time (through space, heh)
Yeah, the Nimue is a Shenanigans mech and the Ptolemy is very fragile if it starts coming under assault.
So the Nimue likes it more as 'hahah, fuck you' and the Ptolemy likes it as a 'Please go away, I don't want to get shot'
I have also been contemplating a more tech-focused ptolemy
20 sensors and useful tech systems could make for an interesting long-range support platform
Only concern is not getting good use out of the traits though
discord why are super reactions so easy to accidentally send
Hahahah
Honestly, it doesn't get bad use out the traits even then.
Cutting Edge gives it +1 accuracy on the 'Get in the fucking shadow realm' opposed check
And nothing stops you going Shoot + Hack as your turn.
||Also, yes, the Ptolemy is like 50% a Yu Gi Oh Joke as a mech||
I have suddenly remembered just how busted shoot+hack is
due to carmilla 3 and that one gms core bonus existing
Carmilla 3 can just turn any controller into a support if you’re willing to trade some versatility in sp
I would say its overtuned but then that would mean giving up on morgana oc-loop invading for a frankly ridiculous amount of effects at once
By GMS Core Bonus do you mean Suldan's Enhanced Systems Upgrade?
i think that was it
choose between +2 heat or another invade option right? (And +2 sp)
Yeah
Yeah that was a game changer
The Morgana I don't think is quite overpowered but I think if I had the power to go back in time and edit her I'd make one small change.
Swapping her damage from AP Energy to Burn. Which is better for general use but worse for Absolutely Maximizing Heat.
Buuuurn

dear god
But if anything i’d say it’s carmilla’s systems that might be overtuned, morgana just fits the playstyle of doing one tech really well
The Morgana got a bit of a nerf there in testing. She used to be +2 to all tech attacks, instead of a 1/round +3.
As I found it promoted a really boring playstyle where any time you were doing things other than 2x Invade, you were Playing Her Wrong
I wanted people able to mix her gun into their playstyle or to use Full Techs
yeah that probably helped a lot
Also helps oc-looping for even more heatgunning while clearing exposed like tokugawa, but not wasting some of the bonus
Was insane to get +6 heat a turn with oc
Having both with enhanced systems upgrade really pushes the tech economy through the roof
Though you do lose a tone of options/versatility so it might be a worthy trade?
Mhm, Lil bit
I pulled off a beautiful 9 heat invade on a carrier once, rolled exposed and triggered reactor override to wipe out both the carrier and all the deployed grunts in one fell swoop, it was perfect

I also then immediately got chunked cause i had to greed and didnt clear exposed lmao
Yeah, cutting down on the 'there is one Best Way to play Morgana' was good.
Yup, current design is much better
I love how morgana can be played as a tanky support too
You are now seeing btw the worst part of putting your work out there in like...an actually Printed Book.
Any frame that does one quick action really well but leaves the other free for flexibility instantly gets a win in my books just cause of customizability
You're never quite happy XD
no take backsies yeah
But it's too late to do any final tinkering
I have been an ardent supporter of digitizing ttrpgs fir this reason
Still, I'm like 95% happy with how Liminal Space turned out XD
And that's a pretty high amount of happy.
Yeah, the liminal manufacturers are definitely my favorite 3rd parties
There’s solid frames with a lot of versatility but also plenty in the license to keep some individuality
Moi is my favorite, the others have a lot I love but have a few issues that glare at me
And also some niche frames that i’m too afraid to try to optimize which would probably terrify my group
imo MO&S is probably the best balanced of the three but i prefer MOI because space portals
Hahaha
Also the side of just enough heat/burn to keep my reactor criminal happy
I'm biased because I wrote MOI so I can't weigh in on 'best' 😛
Oh probably yeah
With mo&s having too much overlap with ipsn for my liking
Just enough “we’re doing things in good faith, in fact here’s our core business motto” while also hiding some definitely shady shit
Zahhak is one if my fave frames from it and the book though (behind a few moi ones)
Flauros drone should have been nexus, btw, iki 😔
I personally vibe well with phoenix (and my group has enjoyed zahhak and kelly a lot) but i can’t quite fully commit cause of the lack of heavy weapons:p
I do often dip for useful systems and durability though
I'm glad people get the Shady Shit aspect of MOI.
Sneaky gits
One of the big things I tried with them is that None of their NHPs are written as being treated as...people will full agency. Because MOI are fucking terrible to NHPs.
A literal weapon, a tool, or a sacrifice to be used for the benefit of others
Medea is probably the only mo&s mech i would have no idea how to play
Non-mine deployables just elude me ig, cause Agrippa and Kidd are much to same to me (though they have bolster/techs respectively)
(Solomon is perfect and blameless)
Oh god that retrograde art hits so much harder now
How you play Medea
I-
yknow
Medea's gameplan, since she's got 3 entirely free, entirely expendable drones is 'be a fucking nuisance and get value out of their deaths'
Her general vibe 'What I gave up doing this was worth less than what you lost from me doing it'
Medea can opt to not use as many drones because of her Statline
…dammit it’s too early late to be pulling up comp/con to get another good look at it
But yeah ig having a drone commbander who is fine, actually, with losing the drones is quite useful
also
She was sorta designed because I wanted to see if I could make non-Hydra drone mechs, her and the Solomon.
The drones help a lot with setting up DC3 too
Solomon was 'Super high on Quality of Drone'
While Medea was 'Super high on Quantity of drone, no quality'
Solomon is my favorite mech in the game, not just moi
They came out well yeah
I got genuinely worried when the Kidd came out during her development as I was worried they'd overlap too much
My goal is to homebrew frames I like at least half as much
Only problem is the lack of cool drone support outside of liminal tbh
The Kidd is actually part of the reason some of her systems got a tinkering.
It's ability to restock Limited Charges.
Ah yeah
Made 'Wait, should have a smaller effect for Limited Drones' get added
As ironically limited drones are less limited becasue you get X of them without spending a repair each time they go pop
Still baffled that subalterned 14 armor is a doable thing
god damnit medea IS just aristocrats: the mech
Yep!
I'm an aristocrats player how did I not notice that
She's even got 'when a creature under your control dies, each opponent loses 1 life and you gain 1 life' 😛
Solomon has the royal guard, medea the peasants
oh by aristocrats I just mean the mtg deck type lmao
Ohhh
the quintessential aristocrats card
Haven't played mtg in nearly a decade
Lots of choices
Oh yeah!
I’m really surprised at how well liminal protected balance with dustgrave supheavy mounting
iirc there’s like maybe one thing with lust but even then that’s limited to reactor crimes and high ll
zouyan/justice plasma thrower lives rent free in my head though
Not having to worry about allies in that cone 7 makes it fantastic for positioning
I made a few builds
Duskgrave was not remotely on our mind (We didn't even know it was happening) and we spent a fair bit of time running around like headless chickens over it.
As 'Any mech can have a superheavy' sent us into a 'oh god, what will this do to a lot of mechs not designed with heavy mounts involved' panic
I paid a lot of attention to it and ls interactions and it turned out fine iirc
Yeah all of the non-heavy strikers having 3 mounts put a pin through that quickly
Speaking of superheavies
orbital strike makes me sad
crack shot is cool but crits dont like me (and it feels like it was designed with that dmg in mind)
justice can already plasma thrower whenever it wants
zou yan with a superheavy is definitely the most degenerate thing it enables and honestly it's strong but like... eh
zou yan is a 12 ST mech with good sensors and TA, it generally has more useful/impactful things to do than full action barrage a superheavy most turns
not to say that you can't make a good build out of it and have it be effective (on the contrary, it's very powerful), but
zou isn't exactly a bad mech without it
yeah anni nex drone zou is real good
Ooh yeah
temperance is probably also an underrated superheavy mounting user
gives you a really good barrage when you don't want to go insanely nova
Good fallback option
A backup CPR is pretty gross
jack can take superheavy mounting but it makes the frame's action econ super awk unless you have someone feeding you locks
if you do though you pop off immensely
At the very least you’re still trading max potential for versatility
Is it a good trade? Yeah probably, but maybe not if you’re trying to fill a particular team role
It’s pretty crazy in an enkidu
Yep
TCB enkidu is a bit gross
Tcb mc
tcb mc got leagues better when overkill got removed from it lmao
TCB MC is pretty gross yeah
100%
The knockback is, funnily enough, pretty huge for the mc
yeah, you apply knockback before the damage to get hunter
Aaaye
Only issue is getting accuracy
Yup, part of why I think it's fine
That’s why it’s so scary on enkidu
It losing overkill is a big deal for both of them
Hmm, what ls frame can benefit a lot from it other than Zou Yan?
Liminal specificity?
Huh, Cwn Annwn was toned down a lot compared to what I remember
3 mounts
Nah, fire the PT and don’t damage your friend
Hm
Hack them instead
Interesting!
It’s actually some pretty crazy action economy
You can use that ordnance one, the hurricane
Does give heat that way I think
Oh huh I didn't realize the previous "Ignores Hidden/Invis and stops them from benefiting from Hidden/Invis" version of Cwn Annwn had loading
How do you recall it? As it got a tinkering to kinda stop a degenerate combo.
Yeah I recall it being this but I guess somehow forgot the loading
What was the combo?
if it has loading, it shouldn't
Yeah that's the new version now
The old version had loading, and had a way more powerful effect
ah yeah I misread
cwn annwn got updated... I don't even know how long ago, but this is the current version
it just got missed in the lcp updates
Yeah. The old one sorta was 'No one really bothered using this much'
So it got changed to the new version, which people seem to think is like...actually a decent nexus in and of itself.
Yeah, I didn't feel bad about putting it on a mech
Oh right @obtuse willow Dancing Shadow Module seems to be missing the "no negative effects of brace on hit" part
wh
did I fucking not update the json in the lcp???
thank you, will fix momentarily
Thanks chief
fixt
Thanks!
the problem was I'm a big dumbdumb and forgot to ctrl+s.
Inexcusable, to the gallows
Oh boy quickly goes to edit the mechanic brewery one
Eh, got spotted XD
I'm just glad Pyro found it on time
That's what happens when I have nothing to do all day except make mechs in Comp/Con lmao
Also helped Data spot some of Iridia's errors too
God I spend too much time in C/C

also, I'd love it if weapons and systems like cwn annwn came with the way to pronounce them :')
Can your pilot benefit from ripples on the lake ?
Cun Anun, roughly.
Now in the flavor text 😌
TBH almost all of the Ironleaf equipment's names come from real things
So their pronunciations should be easy to find in Google
More likely result is that people will not do that, and just pronounce it wrong, if at all
I've seen a lot of homebrew about that uses names from non-english languages
which on one hand, very cool, love that cultural variety!
On the other hand, nobody includes pronunciation guides so they might as well be written in code sometimes
I love it too, but I feel bad for pronouncing it wrong... and am also lazy
"Solve my puzzles three to learn how to verbally tell your DM what mech you've taken"
Aegean is simple, but I'm sure many people still mess it up
Which part?
There's no downside
If the attack hits, then no effects of the Brace happen
Since brace will reduce to 1 still (resistance does nothing)
Hmm? Reads to me/is written so there's no upside. If you flub the roll to dodge, you're eating the full damage as 'no effects of the brace' would include the Napoleon's '1 damage on a brace'
Yeah
Also includes the WW's Harden and Clover's Bring It!
Though the dodge is a nice extra if you're say, Shredded and thus wouldn't be able to get the most important part of the brace regardless.
I also had a funny idea where the negative effects of the brace only happen if the attack hits but not if it misses but that sounds miserable lmao
As it's 50% rather than 0% to save your ass.
To be fair!
Shredded does not actually prevent Napoleon's trait
Just regular brace
Oh yeah, wasn't talking about the Napoleon specifically there
"Otherwise, you are hit as normal and do not gain Resistance from the Brace."
I just got back home
and read dancing shadow module again
the LCP isn't correct here :o
pointed out by pyropali, fixed here
Yeah, I thought that was a different part of the text that was fixed, and I only remembered the LCP rules for it! :p
but good!
God the shading on the poppys art is so good
I love it
So in practice how good is Donner's Grisly Feast?
it's healing that doesn't cost repairs
which is pretty fucking good
also basiclaly a quick action cover deletion button
True true
Trying to turn an OC into a Lancer character who has a Raiden-esque gimmick of consumption then remembered that the Donner exists
You can sorta tell it's one of Moid's latest art pieces, as they've gotten better and better the more I make them draw size 1/2 mechs 😛
I just love the lineup of
Half, half, half, half, half, size two, half, half, half, FUCKING UFO AND LITERAL TANK
Its so ... Funny to me and idk why
It's funny because it's out of place
There is actually an in-universe reason for that!
Also absurdity
Basicly: Milisea was founded near the end of firstcomm and didn't get found by Union until thirdcomm. Mechs were developed by Union in Seccomm. So they've had a long time to do their own development but didn't have mech technology for most of it.
So their stuff is more 'overgrown hardsuits'
Also something that I noticed about a lot of the Mechs is that a lot of them have aesthetics that are very reminiscent of the trade baronies
Then the tank, and poppy I think stand out against them?
Oh that's so cool and also explains the whole aesthetic thing
Its a very retro aesthetic
I love that so much
Yeah, it's also based on something that came up in Battlegroup fluff! Let me find it.
Oooo
Basicly: There's a lot of tech that was lost during the tailend of Firstcomm that Union doesn't have. Not nessesarily 'better' but 'different'.
So Ironleaf Foundry's techbase is really divergent from Union's in several areas.
I think that's kind of why I've come to the conclusion that I want to use a lot of Gurren Lagan MECH design combined with Aunic and Trade baronie aesthetics for the thing im working on?
I wanted to stand out and look weird because it's technology derived from a timeline then further constructed upon here
So like, i love this shit, its so cool
This is like making my anthropology degree nerdiness come out, over a mecha game
Yeah, I'd already been working in IF's backstory when I read that in Battlegroup and realized it applied a LOT to Ironleaf Foundry's backstory.
Huh
Huhhh
I actually think this bit of fluff may help a lot for me too
Thank you for showing it!!!
Happy to do so! But yeah, that's sorta why there's a pair of 'That's not a mech'
The first Laurel was made centuries before the first modern mech took a single step. Commander mac Nessa had the first Laurel made for his personal use, a new armored vehicle for a new world to act as the invincible backbone of his forces. Built from salvaged parts from the finest machines of the Union Space Program, it was an undeniable threat, a machine so armoured, armed and foreboding as to drive off anyone attempting to assault their new settlement of Conchobar.
Conchobar has made sure that in every generation of armored vehicles, there is a Laurel design among their numbers. Where the first generations were superheavy tanks, iterations after meeting Thirdcomm have drawn more and more from the lessons from mechanized chassis design. The newest Laurel has only just been unveiled, ready to break metal and morale alike.
The Tank (The IF Laurel's fluff) is that it's only recently started incorporating control schemes from Mechanized Chassis into what was a very divergent focus on armoured vehicles.
I think visually, my favorite is silversword ?
I really like its weapon
But they're all so cool
The Silversword is fun, the design spec for Moid there was 'A walking statue with a flaming spear'
May i ask, what real life situations/places/concepts does Ironleaf Foundry and Milisea draw from?
Im curious
Ironleaf Foundry and Milisea draws heavily from Celtic Mythology, in particular the Book of Invasions and the Cattle Raid of Cooley.
This is the Big Art for one of the Flashpoints.
Oooooo, neat
With the structure drawing a lot from the Newgrange Passage Tomb
Oh thats so cool
random aside limspace feedback: zou yan is the best mech because I can say "I create a death world" and have it be 100% accurate to my game actions
Hahahaahah
Alas that it can no longer attack and dethrone God
The eternal realization everyone has when they actually look at the Environmental table. 😛
For the yeet?
Though I will say: Kachunk is getting an entire section of it rewritten.
It's being renamed Ka-chack as that's better onomatopoeia for the racking of a new shell 😛
XD
I still think that this effect should make the damage deterministic
which works well for silversword, as well as be interesting with overkill or the like
(of the entire attack)
Could you repost that feedback, I'm finding it hard to locate it. Sorry.
yeah no worries, I'll go search for it
Licences Lily Statline: The stats themselves are incredibly juiced up, and even has some great mounts. It wouldn’t make a good hacker compared to the iskander, but looks better than it in most other ways? Metaforge: Worried about the SP cost reduction, which is effectively just bonus SP that sc...
Ka-Chunk!: Ok, I like the visceral image this gives me of a mech doing this, but mechanically I think you can do something interesting with this! So, the frame has the “know health/evasion/edefense trait, right? What if this weapon rather than giving bonus damage, allowed you to get a pegasus-like effect by averaging + another benefit, or maximizing damage? Idea of a system like that would be to bypass overkill weapon heat if people don’t like that and to know how much damage you’d do to a target for the frame’s own trait. The main issue is that this favors 1d6 weapons, and not 1d3 or flat damage weapons like this frame has right now.
Spitballing aside, I don’t think this system does a lot for the Silversword as it is now, and is fairly weak for the action cost involved. 1 SP is peanuts, and that warrants being worse than hunter lock, but hunter lock doesn’t pay off until you get more than 1 turn of extra damage with it.
note: this feedback is old
the doc
I feel like I'd be tempted for boosting it to give it the Ferrous Lash's 'If movement is stopped, fall prone'
So it's better for Slamming People About.
I do like that, buuut
the silversword synergy is something that'd be so nice for this 😔
Don't you dare steal my Raleigh synergies
Wait, remove what?
Yeah, I noticed when I spotted Belladonna systems and went 'Right, this wasn't always an alt frame...why did I ever think the Direct Interface Link was a good idea?'
xD
Direct Interface Link
1 SP, Unique
You automatically pass checks to disarm Mines and interact with Objects. You can interact with Objects as a Quick Action if it would normally be a Full Action.
Articulated tendrils, direct interface links provide essential tools for allowing pilots to engage in actions more precise than gunplay without risking unfortunate consequences.
For those who want to see one of the most 'Fuck, I need one more system' things I ever made (Now gone)
I have a scrapyard in my own doc of ideas I ditched
where I just copy paste things I would otherwise delete
Hmm
I think I'm safe with my own 1 SP system there
I started with an idea in mind for what I wanted it to do, which helps
I feel like the effect of Direct Interface Link would likely be better re-used as a 'oh and also this' on a talent that has a powerful but really short effect.
Like the 'Get a Zero-G System'
Yeah, I really like that one
But that would need me to have ideas for talents XD
They are. It's tricky to work out big areas that can be worked in without overlapping too much with other stuff.
Yes but maybe in #homebrew-design
I'll be honest I was a little down on Tudigong for a while just because Zou is so SP hungry, it wants to fit so many different things
But then I started thinking of it just as "this is an infinite use hex grenade with additional upside" and now I adore it
No Demolitionist synergy but c'est la vie
it's also a deterrent vs melee when centered on an ally
such a neat system
I love my drone zou yan with tempest drones; which allies can also just move past without issue
clearly I should write a talent for non-weapon, non-grenade systems that do harm 😛
same with the Lich 1 system
HMMM
yeah being entirely party-safe on its home mech is also a huge point in tudigong's favor
zou's traits are so fucking good
Siege Ram
Throughbolt Rounds
Webjaw Snare
Caltrop Launcher
Charged Stake
Smokestack Heatsink
TSS1
TSS2
TSS3
Molten Wreathe
Shock Wreathe
Javelin Rockets
Ricochet Blades
JK2
Ferrospike Barrier
Dominon's Breadth
The Imperial Eye
Aya of the Syzygy
The Walk of Kings
Swarm body
Puppetmaster
Tempest Drone
Assassin Drone
Lightning Generator
Seismic Ripper
Explosive Vents
Clamp Bombs
NOAH-Class NHP
External Batteries
Plasma Gauntlet
I know you were joking, BUT
it's honestly something that might work considering the number of systems that are included there
I did not include invades btw
This is just official stuff too
if also including frame traits and passives:
Vlad
KIDD
Caliban
Zheng
Monarch
Viceroy
Balor
Hydra
Manticore
Pegasus
exactly
The main issue will be the wording, how to include the things you want and exclude those you don't
...another issue is the type of effect you could give
Yeah idk
Yeah. As some of them likely shouldn't benefit (Like I don't want anything without a save to get too much beefier)
No one needs 'Oh god, what did you do to the Omnigun?'
Haha, that too
or easily repeatable effects
So a few things at least; you'd want to exclude grenades, mines, drones, and likely effects carried by another action like siege ram?
Yeah. As Grenades, Mines and Drones already have talents that support them
So that would leave:
Webjaw Snare
Caltrop Launcher
Charged Stake
Smokestack Heatsink
TSS1
TSS2
TSS3
Molten Wreathe
Shock Wreathe
Javelin Rockets
Ricochet Blades
JK2
Ferrospike Barrier
Dominon's Breadth
The Imperial Eye
Aya of the Syzygy
Swarm body
Puppetmaster
Lightning Generator
Seismic Ripper
Explosive Vents
Clamp Bombs
NOAH-Class NHP
External Batteries
Plasma Gauntlet
going by the assumption that you're limiting it to systems
Yeah.
'I have made myself explode harder'
Deployables would also exclude Webjaw Snare, Smokestack Heatsink, Ferrospike Barrier
Not sure how you stand on that
Honestly, kinda okay with Deployables with that list. Most of them require a fair bit of setup.
since GMS comes with no system that does this, and it's a talent, might want it to come with a system that works with it at LL1
So that's at least 1 rank covered
GMS Really Big Bomb
Deployable
It Go Boom When Triggered Or Destroyed
Though iirc, Iconoclast doesn't even bother with saves.
Still, I could also lock out AI when I'm going 'This list of things don't get it'
