#Connecting Android client to PC server

Hey, I am having problems connecting Quest 2 to a server that is running on my PC.

Both devices are connected to the local internet. I updated the IP on the Tugboat script and have set the Auto start types accordingly in the Network Hud Canvas script. Everything works as expected if I run the game using the Unity editor, but the apk test fails. All I currently see on the Quest2 is Unity's trademark screen which eventually starts to flicker.

I feel like I'm missing something.

I have also tried to debug using *abd * but didn't really get any meaningful errors. Not sure if there are any specific *abd * commands I should look into.

You entered the hosting computer's IP address into the "Client address" field on Tugboat?

Yes here is the NetworkManager prefab

imho, you need to create firewall rules to allow both inbound and outbound on that exact port you are using.

I knew I was missing something! Can you direct me towards these recommendations?

On windows all I did was allow the app through the firewall. You may need to also do the same in your antivirus software

control panel -> windows defender firewall -> advanced settings

Resolved!

Hey just had one more small question, are there any workflows for testing between the apk running on Quest 2 and the server running on my computer?

Or do I just rebuild for windows and android every time I want to test?

Okay then I need to double check the firewall settings. Everything works fine if I run the server using a windows build and adjust the firewall settings. But same issue as earlier appears if I try to host the server using the Unity Editor

You've added the Unity editor to the firewall exceptions?

hollow lantern
#

Yes. Here are my firewall settings

#

Should the Public profiles be allowed?

spark torrent
#

I don't think it's necessary on a private home network

Okay @spark torrent thanks again. I can see the client joining if I run the server outside the Unity editor on my PC but the quest2 just still has the flickering Unity logo. I am now suspecting there may be some problems with the testing rigs I have setup.
