Okay, this shiny has a lot of context behind it, so forgive me for the spam.

my best friend and I traveled all the way to the in Person Hoenn tour in Las Vegas (the nickname is a reference to about how much money we each spent for the flight and hotel). And while thought it was an okay trip, my friend didn’t as such. For starters, he didn’t have a ticket for the extra day that weekend, but he was okay with that since primal Groudon and Kyogre were in raids. Problem was, since the primal raids were available to everyone, ticket holders or not, he couldn’t even log into the game, even with the WiFi the event provided. Fed up with how the event was going for him, he Ubers back to our hotel and spends the entire day in our hotel room, binge watching YouTube videos and ordering DoorDash.

Fast forward to day 2; we’re feeling optimistic. I got a pretty good haul, shinies, hundos, even a shundo. But what did my best friend get? 3 shinies: a Trapinch and 2 Cacnea. That is IT. Months after the trip, he told me that it was one of, if not the, worst trip of his entire life. Hoenn is his favorite region and this event for him was a huge let down.

…And yet, he traded me one of these very shiny cacnea since I didn’t get one while we were in Vegas. That alone earned this Cacturne the best buddy ribbon.
