Firstly, I don't think theres a real wrong answer if you were to purify or not. I'm not exactly sure if purified Articuno has any real advantages in PvP but from a raid perspective shadow will definitely do a lot more damage than if you were to purify it. I personally wouldn't solely off the fact that these will be far more rare than any regular articuno as who knows when they'll be back next. But if you were to purify, I would suggest purifying the non-max attack shadow. For raids attack is the most important stat basically. So your shadow max attack I would keep shadow and if you were to purify, purify the other 96

If you are seriously trying to make a really good TTar for Ultra League. I would suggest finding one with lower attack. Although he is great IV's, his IV's aren't really PvP ideal IV's. This one would be a great raid attacker as shadow. But as a PvP attacker I'm sure you could get better IV's for a shadow.

When it comes to PvP, lower attack stat and high defense/hp stats are the ideal. This is because attack is the largest factor in calculating CP. Meaning that if I have a max attack mon vs a 0 attack mon. I can power up the 0 attack mon more while keeping it under say a 2500cp mark. Meaning that it is a higher level while keeping a similar CP. This mean's that in certain cases, it could survive say one more hit than the 15 attack mon. But this is only relevant to GL and UL. For ML where there is no cap, you want the best possible IV's

If you aren't a hardcore PvP player, this tyranitar should do just fine. Like all of my PvP mons are 3* mons with pretty high attack and I do just fine. Whatever you do with this TTar, whether it be using it as a raid or a UL mon, I wouldn't purify. That is because it wouldn't hundo out and would only gain 3 IV's. You could likely rather easily find a TTar from mega TTar raids that has pretty solid IV's. But it will be harder to find another Larvitar with IV's like this

Mainly because unless you can evolve smack down on TTar again through evolution during December comm day(I'm not sure if you can or can't), then it will likely be very hard to find a time where evolving Pupitar gets you smack down(which makes TTar a very strong rock type attacker). However you can evolve a Pupitar at any time into a TTar to get it to be a dark type attacker. Or if you don't care about using elite fast TM then you can do whatever lol.
