So i just upgraded my pc a few days ago and got drawn right into the game again.
I have to say i find the new way buildings like the Lord Manor are built now a lot more confusing than the old
"Build first-assign later" method. Maybe i'm doing it wrong, but its odd to swap back around the functionality drop down to build equal nodes with different purposes. (Also, did we lose a few base parts as well? I only got 1 door option for the rusytic church suddenly)
#New freebuild mode confuses me

Mmmmh, you are not supposed to use the free build option if you are not in need of it. When picking a sub-building to start, you just choose the function you need and build all parts you want (some are exclusive for that function only).
You just need to rember that if a monument needs more functions (like manor needing great hall, tax office, bailiff office) you need to create 3 different sub buildings inside the same monument
Other parts are now being hidden behind an upgrade in the new estate system
I meant the building of part-buildings... prolly should have called it "Custom builds" or something like that. It'll still take a while to get used to I suppose
Ye, many say the first impression is confusing. for me as soon as you get used it's way more practical than the old system
Same. This confused the hell out of me.
Dunno. Been playing it quite a while now and still not a fan. It really restricts me from being able to make the creative building I have a vision of.
Also is it meant to now need separate doors for bailiff, tax office etc? They used to be rooms of the same building but now it's asking me to add another door.
Yes! It's really difficult to plan out the construction of the building when you can only build one piece at a time.
What you mean one peace at a time?
You don't have to click the Build button once you're finished designing a section, it will remain as a blueprint/ghost as long as you don't click the destroy button. In this way you can work on a design that makes use of multiple sections at once without having to wait for each section to be finished to see how they fit together.
Can you confirm about the new build mode that each new sub building needs its own door? I'm trying to build a tavern but now when I switch to a different sub function and place it, it requires it's own door.
Idk. I still like the game but I've had to give up on trying to make nice monuments. It's too frustrating
So an example of why this is so frustrating: trying to build a beautiful monastery with a cloister.
I don't want the cloister walls to just be a square, I want it attached to other buildings. So I need to switch back and forth between the sub buildings to place things because I also don't want to waste a whole building just calling it a cloister, I'd like it to be useful.
Ok I've got it but now I realize I need to rearrange it so that it's just right. So I drag my construction parts over
...oh that other building didn't move. Or won't be part of the chain of attached things.
It's just unpleasant
I haven't had much trouble with new system, takes a bit of getting used to tho. The extra doors for tavern pieces are service entrances, the patrons will use whichever is easiest to access. If you want then to only use main entrance you can build a little wall around the tavern. Makes for a good spot to put a little decorations garden
