make use of shapes

as well as references

if you're going for a more regal look
look up references and use a mixture of geometric and natural shapes

make a defining silhouette

shape language is a key factor in not only designing clothes but also a character in general

for example

if you want a cute, bubbly character

make their silhouette without too many sharp edges

hello, anything needs fixing before i start painting?

I need to add teeth that's why mouth kinda weird, but im scared to paint teeth, everyone says they are hard af to paint

Ear is too small, the character’s right eye (our left) is too close to the cheekbone bringing the brow area down will fix that, smile for the mouth needs to be properly carried through while maintaining perspective and 3 dimensionality, bring the character’s left eye (our right) closer because its too far, if what is at the bottom of the neck is supposed to be the clavicles you should find a reference of the angle of the body as they do not follow the perspective nor the angle of the body and they aren’t in the right area

Also for teeth use a reference but until you’ve done enough studies of them you won’t get it right as they are difficult. You can do the semi realism way in which they just makes the teeth as a solid strip of white with shading

Browline slants too much inwards (are they angry?) and the arch of the brow is too high and short in relation to the eye
check where the side of the head is, since the ear should be almost parallel to that while right now it isn’t
The ear is still too small and it should be in perspective like the rest of the head
the upper part of the area under the lip (where it goes in) is too large compared to the rest of the chin itself
Flip the canvas and you will see the eyes, nose, mouth are in perfectly straight lines which is unrealistic since faces are 3 dimensional (they should be aligned on a curved line)

depends on what you want to do. If you want to paint you'll want to paint on the same layer so clipping mask won't be very useful especially for blending. If you want to do cell shading without colouring on the same layer you can use clipping mask to make it easier

people mainly use the whole hand to make the shape or just the index and thumb (sometime middle finger too)

Mouth is too high, eyebrows aren’t in line, eyes aren’t fully inline either, ear needs to be higher (i know you haven’t worked on it but block it in higher), make the nostrils bigger, canine teeth aren’t as centred as you’ve put them theyd be fairly covered by the edge of the smile, also carry the smile through unless you want her to look like she’s only smiling with the left side, make her mouth a little bigger

as an artist you have 2 different skill that you mainly develop with the time.
1st is your technical skill which we're all very familiar with.

2nd is observation. this is kinda underrated but once you realize its value you will truly understand what it really means to see the world for yourself.

sometimes both of these skills are not always at their same level. it can happen that your observation skill exceeds your technical skill by a big gap. This is the moment you'll think everything you draw looks kinda off and bad. because you noticed your mistakes very quickly. @lament stump

This is in my opinion the perfect moment to grow your technical skill as you're right in front of a new breakthrough in your artistic achievement. once you stopped thinking it's weird that means both of your skill are very likely on the same level again.

I have experienced this kind of thing a too but lost all my motivation to draw. and stopped for about over a year... what a shame when i think about it again.

but please remember that this is all my own view in term of artistic growth. my personal road. it mustn't suit you in anyway if you don't like it.

You can keep the head size however you want if your not going for realistic proportions the one thing to change would be the neck thickness. The neck naturally is wider at the bottom since all of the muscles spread out and attach to various bones

look up reference, get a stabilizer if thats how you spell it, experiment w different brushes and settings, and thats all i can say

i would recommend not drawing each strand of hair, usually it's better to go for a general hair shape with some strands here and there

otherwise it gets too messy and detracts from the character
