It’s important to realize that base colors are always shaded/tinted a bit to fit the background
Don’t shade with pure black

it’s decent for neutral lighting yeah
The white one specifically helps for pearlish lighting

Colors would change a lot depending on the surroundings but it’s a decent guide

Shading is part of the process of giving an artwork values, specifically by adding shadows (the darker parts where light does not completely reach)

Rendering is the full process of adding values
And no don’t use black to shade for shadows. ever. unless you’re doing monochrome or something special, since it practically never occurs in reality

if you look at irl shadows, they always still have a tint because of surrounding light reflecting back on it, subsurface scattering, etc

Maybe you press too hard over the whole thing or the angle of your pencil is too low when you shade?
Pencils near the middle like average 2b pencils are better and easier to control than switching different lead types most of the time for beginners (except when you need really light or really dark)

I still prefer 2b over mixing other lead types

its looking good but if you want her to look more anatomically correct then you should make her thighs thinner, lengthen her shin, make her feet bigger, lengthen the torso and arms. If you want to keep the shoulder raise you need to raise things on that side since everything is connected
