Your laptop won't be driving the tablet screen, the tablet does that itself

And a 1080p screen can display 4k content, it'll look sharper than 1080p content. You don't get the full 4k effect though. And if you lack hdr on your laptop, your images will look more dull than on the tablet

so whichever you want to use, just use it depend on the char and the situation you want to use them in

like you won't use a plain one if the character is using a fancy dress

ok here are the most basic steps. real quick.

first decide where the light comes from. well it's the foundation of all lighting but i just wanna be safe than sorry so gonna put it here.
and then you paint the darkest color for the hair. in a rough shape. don't be afraid it's digital so you can always erase what you don't like.

next is to add the light.

you have to find a good ration between dark and light (depending on your light source again)

add darker tone that is unreachable by the light. you can make it more saturated so it's not really 100% black because it'll look weird.

cut her hair so she looks more pretty ^^

erase the part you don't want

like sculpturing.. in a way. i hope it makes sense xd

add highlights if you want.

well it's much more complicated than that because this all is ofc connected with color theory, lighting etc. and etc. but i want it to look really ez to learn so you can get started with it.

try to get a source of light first and then contrast it more

also add some more red/orange colors in, skin isn't purely opaque, it's slightly translucent
