Which brushes did you use to get that iridescent effect?

I used the soft oil brush and watercolor pencil in ibis paint

But the actual color was done by merging multiple gradient maps and layer effects lol

I don’t see that as a real priority for non-professional artists/hobbyists, taking time on a piece can be good to catch mistakes and improve
1 hr is different by everyone’s speed and frankly I can either do a whole messy scene or a really clear sketch in that time
speed in general is valued but I don’t think attacking the speed of a particular piece is helpful

well just think about it like those sitting on the chair but sit side way so they feet can be on it too

Ok, here’s some changes I’d make. I think the biggest thing is the posing. In the original, her legs poking out of the bottom would imply that she’s sitting on her butt in the chair. However, if you wanted to create this leaned-back sitting on hip pose, you’d have to account for the balance of the character. In order for someone to sit like that comfortably, they would put their hand behind their back or would be propped up against something. The rather stiff example you showed does demonstrate this. If you didn’t want to make too many changes thou, just removed the legs entirely and fix the arm. I get what you were trying to do with the fingers, but they’re so anatomically broken. When people hold wine, it’s by the base or on top like when you go clubbing and whatever.

Ah crud I didn’t do this here, but uh make the flowers a bit larger and a bit more right to account for tangents.

Ok, and the other issue I notice is the values. Did you grayscale this before hand? I always suggest doing that if you’re a novice at painting and then going back into ps and using gradient maps + multiply layers for colouring. It’s a bit bland but it gets the job done.

Firstly, i saturated her a bit more. The eye is drawn to the brightest and most saturated thing first, so you want that to be her. Desaturate the sofa and make it a bit darker so it doesn’t stand out so much. Additionally, I’d start adding some dark blues into the darker areas for contrast. If you stick with a warm lighting (which I think you were trying to do) then compliment it with some cool blues.

You can even add some gentle cyan reflective light on the tips of her hair and dress to make it really pop

I also brightened the window, just made sense. Hopefully this helps and if you want clarification just @ me
