ahh, it's more of a long term commitment thing xd you aren't going to get much out of it if you try to finish it asap

it teaches you stuff about line control and mostly thinking in 3d

there are a few challenges like drawing 250 boxes or cylinders

but you have to do it all in ink so no ctrl z

Linearting

because you can adjust the lines (width, length, the line itself, etc), doesn’t get too blurry when you make it larger, and you can erase intersecting stuff easier with a vector eraser

Heres a wip of a sketch, might as well turn it into a full drawing.

The process is a little different, feels odd.

You paint very uniquely. Never seen anyone paint bottom up. Usually it's face down or base colour first before detail.

Oh, so if I can explain, I use grayscale. I already know the light source I want to use and will add the extreme lights and darks later if needed.

By doing grayscale first, I can alter and adjust the lighting accordingly, only issue is that I'm not too familiar with the values for certain things just yet

once I have my grayscale set in place, I can add another layer using BLENDING MODE : COLOR

apply a base color. If you see that after it needs adjustment, you can do so by shading and tinting on the grayscale layer without tampering with the base color layer.

its a bit much, but its easier to see changes in the value with grayscale than a colored picture.

(These are what the base colors are)

and this is what the grayscale looks like before I added the blending mode before the color

It depends on your color style.
But again, you can apply a base color with a layer blending mode

After a while you begin not to need it.

But I do it since I take breaks and get rusty

For example, I didnt use grayscale on this and it came out fine for the most part

But this is useful for the folks who may not know how to blend their colors, shades and tints properly

coloring gray is a waste of time if you're not actually using it to map out your values

best used for testing composition

so if you're doing a piece that has little tone variation there isn't really a point

imo anyway

its kinda like what thumbnailing is for large piece composition, but for values instead

imho color blending mode kills a lot of the nice mixing you get from just painting straight on though

1. Look at professional work, specifically still frames in animation; the tones and shades are simplified for animation purposes, it'd be good to study from since the shadows are reduced to form
2. Value studies
3. Colors are almost always darker and less saturated than you probably think they are in your head

Keep your shadows and your light values clean

Try not to blur between the two unless you know what you're doing

Keeping the contrast up between shadow and light will keep your art neat and readable

if the palm is like sideways, the "area" you see is smaller, making it harder to notice
if the palm is tilted upwards, the "area" of the palm you see is larger so it's easier to notice

this is assuming the palm is different colour from the background

but in this case it's gloved and the glove is the same color as the background sleeve so this point is not that important and i'm just dumb

In my view, not enough shadow to establish the volume of the shape; Line has too much weight; since light sauce is warm color, shadow needs to be cold color; highlight goes to the part u want to draw the audio's attention, and I try to make it on the tear in this case. (P.S: it doesn't represent best result with my understanding)

Different people have different eyes of viewing things, thus having different preferences. You don't feel satisfied with your art it's normal since all artist have their own standards, so you must experiment and study to meet that standard for yourself

so there's like four things I can think of

restart your phone to hopefully flush DNS and force your ibis to create a new access token

that's if it's session based

it could be account based

in which case you can try either reinstalling the app with a different google account

or its HWID in which case there's not an easily accessible way to create a new token

shading looks fine, if there is anything you want to fix about it I'd say lighten the hearts on the cheeks. They are very similar in value to the skin and blend in making them look like random blobs at a smaller resolution

here for feedback, trying chibi outline (i just wanted to try it quickly on my laptop dont mind the messy lines) is this fine for the general shape or do i add more chub to the cheek? or more to both perhaps? i didnt really add any to the right cheek, just assumed hair would cover it on that side anyway (also i realize it's not straight but ya ignore that).. should i also make the chin shorter like move it up or is it fine?

the face is more about how you place your features than the shape of that you drew instead

you can make any shape look like a face if you can place the eyes and nose properly

anyways, answering your question, 2nd shape is probably better for what you're looking for
