Try removing that brightest layer i think, it gives the illusion of it being rlly shiny but i feel like shiny objects usually have reflections in cell shading usually follow the camera

I don't know really know about Blender but if I wanted to do this and apply texture in Maya without Substance painter I would've put two edges which would be the size of the path. Then move my vertex so it'll look like the reference and finally apply the texture on the faces and not on the entire object.

(I don't know if it's clear. I don't know if it's possible to do that on Blender and it might not even be the most optimal way to do it since I just began recently but I hope it'll give you some hint or whatever to help you !)

• Proportions are looking a bit wide so might want to resize it to be more narrow
• Her bangs cover one of her eyes and starts out about 1/4 the width of her face
• Stylized illustrations for girls tend to want thinner necks (1/2 - 1/3 of the width of the head)
• Higher eyebrows look more relaxed
• The volume of the hair could be rounded more to hint at the form of the skull
• Realistic lips and nose tend to look off when the rest of the drawing is simplified so better to keep it simple

sorry, if I may ask — how do you achieve that great colouring with shading on paper irl? is it just skillfully painting only exactly where you want which colour to be or some type of special pencils?

if I try to draw with pencils I have over other pencils then it doesn’t really work

Ive been going it for years so over time I just learned how to be more precise with the pencils, also I use alot of reference images to get ideas of what kind of shades or patterns I want to create, I primarily use prismacolor pencils

Is there a life hack or something to draw bodies from neck to legs? I don t struggle that much with heads (if they re like an id photo, the moment i have to turn it to any degree the quality worsens the more i do it). But when it comes to bodies i get questionable stuff let me find the acheron rq

As for drawing different angle, its just the way it is if you arent used to it. Better find reference

If you want to keep things somewhat in proportion on a standing pose it's usually worth going with head:body ratio. The commonly used ones range from 1:6 to 1:8

It's measured from the top of the head to the bottom of the feet and the halfway point would usually be the crotch/bottom of the pelvis (so 3 heads down in a 1:6)

the acheron you drew seems to be around 4.5 heads tall with the halfway point on the navel. This makes the legs look a bit stubby

Not exactly a hack but I usually start wiring my art with stick figures, very quick very easy, in this stage you can also check proportions and relationships between your body, for example, in an arm, you check relation of the length, forearm and shoulder + arm are slightly shorter to forearm, which in your drawing, its the opposite making it extremely uncomfortable for your character

Of course, do keep gpad's advice in mind

Not sure if it satisfy you, also if you want light to have a bit of a leafy texture, make sure to use a leaf brush instead to make your life easier instead of rendering each leaf individually (I mean you can do that at some parts to give it more variety)

that approach of mine is more of a conscious choice, rather than a software limitation; I know you can set different mode-layers on Krita too, I just want to use as little computer-help as possible and put every bit of pigment myself so-to-speak

A tip though, if Krita has a pressure stabiliser you can enable it to help you have more steady lines, I've noticed that few times you posted, sometimes they got off track, just a mere suggestion ofc ^^

maybe it sounds a bit weird to not care about clean line-art too much, especially people who almost exclusively like “anime” art-style care about it a lot, but I care more about like… I don’t even know how to describe it all too well basically how many “layers” of shading there are

like when I was young what striked me the most artistically in terms of more “modern” art (and by that I mean art in video games, rather than “high-art” or book illustrations) is what I played and to show a few examples it was that kind of stuff:

and like there’s relatively little line-art there at all (in Warcraft Ⅱ the most probably), but like it works much more with the degree of shadows and colouring and is much more “painterly” so-to-speak and naturally I wanna try to immitate what I like

this is also one of the main reasons why I strongly prefer like 90s, early 2000s anime over more modern ones, cause they had much much more shadows

modern stuff tends to look more… uhmm flat, I guess

wanted to find an anime example to compare and settled on NGE, cause it has two “versions” (actually, that’s not quite right even, but… either way there there’s say Asuka from the 90s and the more recent Asuka) and like the newer one looks more… “flat” I don’t know how to describe it better

not to say that there’s any shadowin at all, but there’s significantly less contrast, at least to my eyes

@mint arrow you can just place the light using some leaf texture brush. this specific lighting is called dappled light (light shine through foliage).

for light placement, i think a good tip is to place it where you want to put emphasis on your piece. since everything is darker by nature. for the light also, can make the edges a bit softer.

as for the shapes, it is elliptical in nature, but i think you can play around with it a bit just to make it more interesting

its just a generic anime head proportion, i feel like u can achieve the same look if u practiced the normal anime style head proportions

the eye can have a horizontal line slightly above the bottom part of the ear and the top part also having a horizontal touching the top part of the ear, even though this is just one way depending on how you wanna draw the eyes and how big do you want them to be so adjust it with reference lines however you want it to look like and having a reference at hand when doing specific angles
just make sure to draw a curved line when doing the face in a 3/4 angle
