i dont really cosplay but as far as i know you can use a glass/plastic sphere and fill it with cotton glitter and stuff and put a small light in it

Oh, that's a good idea. It would definitely be fairly easily to get what's needed for it. I'd just need a good reference to the Star of Eden and figure out the best way to get the cardboard/foam to look like the extra stuff on top of it and apply it onto the sphere easily. It's something I'll figure out in time.

hmmm i think something you should look into are blend mode they really help!

oftentimes for me trying to directly paint the colors on doesn't give my art the same effect as a blending mode would

i love to use multiply for shading and add or color burn for lighting, and overlay is helpful if you want your entire art to be tinted a specific color if that makes sense

you don't have to worry about doing crazy blending mode techniques rn but the basics that helped me for a few years before i expanded were:
multiply = shading
add = lighting

and airbrush will be your friend with these

for this piece i covered her entirely in the multiply blend mode, making her mostly dark like so

i used a blending mode called color dodge to get that lighting effect, this is how it looks with the lighting and no multiply

Shadow on neck + face. Left for warm lighting (red/yellowish). Right is for cold lighting (blue/purple)

you don't always need to use the base colour for deciding the shadow colour

to more properly answer this question, it's up to what you think makes sense for the piece and what your preferences are, but a general rule of thumb is i like to use highlighting sparingly and fill most or all of my subject with the shading layer

too much lighting can make your piece feel messy as there's little contrast in value when you usually do that, however once you understand value a little more you can definitely try copying those super pastel anime styles

you don't need to use a color close to the color effect you want, the blend mode will do the job for you

does your drawing program have a palette feature? i recommend finding the best colors for shading and lighting and then just saving them to the palette for easy access

i still need help on lighting but i think after watching 20 videos of art studies i found out they used strokes on hair highlights too!

i also used the blue darken for the cool tone which GPAD said, tysm for the tips im actually surprised on how much different my first and second attempt is 😭

i just need bubbles for that under the sea vibe lmao but this is the best i can do for now..

i think what could help is doing a darker blue at the bottom of the piece to indicate depth, so líe a gradient kinda

you could also make the blue a little bt more purple

also if you want more of her skin to come through, you can lower the opacity of the layers and/or use airbrush eraser to erase a lil at the top

Hello, does anyone know how to submit for the art category for the creator incentive program? the rules say that the entry must include one image of the creation process but when I click the entries I don't see any with the creation process, they only have the finished result, am I missing something? I remember that for the Qingyi fan art contest they asked you to post on Hoyolab but now they only ask to post on X and Instagram, and when clicking and entry it only gets you to X.
