I like how the Bronya one is unique
im too tired for this
AI chan wip
Got a new sketch pad. Altair (WIP)
It's already 11 pm and I'm tired so I'll finish refining this some other time
WAIT NO SHIT I ACCIDENTALLY DELETED THE PDF FILE WHILE CLOSING THE PROGRAM

Welp, guess I'll just paint on 1 layer next time
FUCK
This was a 4 hour progress
F
EPIC FAIL MOMENT
first msg here, but here's my very messy ei wipđ i still have to fix alot of stuff HAHAHAHA
THE PAARODUS ARE SO CUTE <3
Absolutely gorgeous
the highlets are ajweoirjojaskdjalksjd bro its so beautiful
đ«¶
since it is bunny next year, maybe i should draw something with Bronia
Wip
very nice art what the hell happened I like it
do 3d model count as art
Aight
Ellie, ellie night fever~

Hah. It is funny
Ah yes.
Umm... Bottle.. Flask... Thing
si
Anyways not me reading the discord about 2 weeks lmao
Anyways heres another one
Also I didnt work on this for 12 hours for nothing ok
hey there's sound coming from your art
you could if you'd watcj tutorials
Use references when you donât know how to draw something. It helps a lot and in the long run youâll learn to draw from memory correctly
Fixed some things here and there. Now it's time to colour
Thank you
And remember to practice everyday.
It's the most important part
Not really necessary
Overpractice specially without supervision is a common way make mistakes a habit
Whats important is to know and give your brain time to process rather than just go in without any major plans
Well now with the holliday i had time to draw everyday.
Its a very person specific thing. I personally study every single day but that wont work for everyone. As long as you know what works for you and how the brain actually learns youâre good to study however long you want to
but then again, even if your brain know without enough practice your knowledge is still worthless, whats important is everytime you practice you take a step back and review your work and remember not to do the errors you made in this drawing, look for ways to make it better and expand your memory library by taking as many good references as you can
That's what I mean by " Don't over do it"
and like Sai said, it'll differ from each person, if youre a tryhard you may approach an intense way of learning while ppl who only draw casually can just practice from time to time depending if they really find investing time to learn for a casual hobby, worth it
It varies on the person yes but generally I don't recommend just practicing without any major goals
just go with your own pace
Like if your goal is just to draw every day to get good at drawing, that's not a very productive way to improve, you have to have a more specific goal atleast for that practice
Like improving on the hands or something
but isnt practice a term for doing something and trying to become better at what you do?
Well at that point its not studying youâre just drawing randomly
Like I said, practicing everyday solely because you want to get good at drawing is not really a very good goal
Its more like you're hoping to just get good at some point
If one wants to really improve you need to gave a more specific goal in mind
ye but drawing randomly and practicing isnt the same, one take in the mistakes you make and slowly polishing your skills to be better and one is to just do the action repeatedly without learning from it
like a guy i knmow in pixiv whose been drawing for 9 years but cant draw shit for hands
and only knows 1 facial expression
That goes under the 2nd thing I said where you need to have a more specific goal
Cuz if that's how one has to improve, it's a really slow process and it invites habits that'll turn out bad on the long run
You're bound to put effort at some point so why not do it early
Tried to expirement with lightning since I really struggled with my anatomy today, tips are really appriecated

its unfortunate that not everyone has the luxury to sit on the chair and spend hrs to learn
Subscattering
Thank you
Its this thing basically
It looks hard but its actually as simple as just slapping the color on
Its looking pretty good but the main thing iâd recommend is to move the eyes further apart. You should have the width of an eye between both. Currently theyâre a little too close
Altho they're not as intense as they should be like this in your art
Subscattering happens subtly on where the lighting and the shadows meet
Started taking refrence from irl pictures and itâs pretty tough to get it right
I also suggest adding a secondary light source that isn't as intense as the main one to add som dynamics in your piece
But tysm for the advice
Then again i think no one can do anatomy absolutely perfect tbh
Yes.
truth be told, if you actually follow like an accurate anatomy, your figure will look disfigured
HOLY SHIT
I RECOVERED IT
This was a piece from my old PC and I forgot I saved it in cloud
1 year ago
heres some art i made in school today, its a bit wonky
my first time experimenting w this style
Daz cool but I suggest not shading with pure black
Or coloring with pure black at all
Thats not the best advice. Certain art styles benefit from using black and depending on how dark your painting is you will end up using black for shading the darker you go
Rarely the case but certainly not in a vibrant setting like this, it removes certain details
To each their own but they didn't ask for a critique so its best not to give one.
I was giving a suggestion
that they didn't ask for
and you shouldn't give them if they didn't ask
What if they need it?
doesn't matter, you're being rude
no, its art etiquette
From suggesting not to use pure black đ
It's not even a rude comment
I even said its cool
that doesn't matter. They didn't ask for opinions or suggestions.
^
There's no harm in giving suggestions
Especially something like this
there is. They may not like, it can hurt their feelings, even put them off from posting their work
It was literally light hearted, you're the one making it look bad đ
"That's cool but I suggest not using pure black"
as a university art student, we are thought how to give critiques. This is not how you do it
its doesn't have to go more in-depth. In can be a simple sentence like what you said.
If I were to critique something, I'd include a lot other factors
And again you're the one making it look bad, I just gave a suggestion
I'm not even enforcing it
Nvm i like this one better
ah yes, Saiphaera showing western stereotype values over here, very sensitive and loves to get offended over someone else's behalf when the one they're defending dont give a damn about it đ
considering that the art community as a whole has spoken out against this for years now, regardless of location, its not. Its also not good to give wrong tiktok critiques to others.
Pretty sure itâs good etiquette to not give suggestions or critique unless the creator has specifically asked for it or an opinion, even if the suggestion isnât that offensive.
Regardless of how the creator feels, generally donât do something if it has the potential to offend someone. I remember a random stranger commenting on my art and how the skin looked like fake tan (it did to be honest) but I was pretty annoyed they said that.
in short, you will never know what may trigger people so may as well not talking at all
heck, we even have some case of people got mad over you giving advice to someone actually asking for it because they didn't notice the owner asking for advice
Yes there is one person here. They are always trying to fight me. I don't even talk to them.
I just ignore
Sketch
I really like the dress
Thanks
wow is that?
wdym?
my bad. i wanted to ask who is that
just an oc/custom design made by me
Cool
Why canât i light this lmao
People are too sensitive nowadays, I don't care if other people thinks this statement is insensitive or whatever, it's straight facts. They let little things like these interfere with their passion and pursue of the crafts and treat it negatively. They're essentially denying the help they're getting, but of course they can choose to ignore this but they don't have to be like "Stop judging me" rather than "Thanks for the suggestion I'll keep that in mind". Now there are trolls out there that deliberately judges people's work and that's the kind of people you should be denying. Genuine people who wants to help gets dragged in this bullshitery. Of you ask me in this perspective, the artist aren't the victims here. What they choose to feel or do with that information is up to the artists, they need to learn that subtle stuff like this isn't really worth treating it like it's their reason to throw their entire career. It's basically equivalent to giving someone some money and they got offended by it.
...more like just western ppl lol, too afraid to get cancelled or something, its laughable
Tried to recreate the model to see if I could fix the proportions. Any suggestions or critiques so I can get this thing clean before moving onto details?
You must be rather sensitive yourself if you wrote a whole essay because someone told you to have good etiquette and not be rude
Also itâs not always help either
Saying an artwork is bad isnât going to help anybody. Not saying that you said their artwork was bad but not everyone wants your help either unless they have specifically asked for it
I'm stating facts not sensitivity
All Iâm saying is that donât give suggestions or critique unless they asked for it
You completely missed the entire situation then, it's not about wanting help, I gave them something that can help them, what they do with it is up to them
If you upset them with your suggestion would you apologise?
Sure if they feel like it
But they're given 3 options
Accept it, ignore it, hate on it for subtle reason
The 3rd one isn't very "etiquette" if you ask me but I wont deny if they do
Theyâre not hating
It's an example
And these are yoyr reactions not the receiver
If they hate then theyâre also in the wrong
I know
But I am stating possible scenarios
Ya'll basically offended on someone who hasn't even replied yet
And I'm the bad guy here
Iâm not offended, Iâm just stating
If you get blasted by someone for giving an unwanted suggestion/critique then it will be your fault
Then theres no reason to correct me then, what I did wasn't wrong and you said it yourself, if they get offended then they're in the wrong
I gave them something helpful, if they feel offended about that, thats their decision
(( okay i don't really wanna get involved in this but just saying, maybe you guys can just settle this w/ a mod? ))
I mean sure but idk how to
Not necessary
Itâs clogging up the whole channel which is unnecessary
Still is still technically art discussion
well just cuz this doesn't seem to rly be going anywhere
yeah this ^^
only seems tangentially related to art at this point
It's a discussion tho
Moreover etiquette and sensibility rather than art though
i will also just. ^^^^^^
YES. you get me
Still waiting for feedback on this...
Overall the main problem I see is the back being too big
Is it alright I annotate on it with red lines to help?
sure
I'm at a public transport right now so I can't make any examples
Ah, I think I see it, thanks
Then would this be better?
The biggest thing I notice is that the right arm looks almost like an afterthought, its a bit too small and connects weirdly with the torso on the underside. This is less likely a problem with the arm, and more of a problem with the back being so thick in comparison. If its alright with you i could mark what i mean, but i think pkp might be doing it already so I'll wait to see
Aside from that, the anatomy of the body is quite good and your perspective is very nice
overall you did pretty good
Thats alright, Forshortening isn't exactly the easiest thing to do
Even experienced artist have a hard time on it
yeah, especially on joints. I wouldnt clock it even if it stays as it is
Hm, trying to look for references on the underarm
But most of the poses in this manner I find are clothed. Anybody got more gravure shots of this pose?
@lunar sonnet hands are fine but I would recommend lowering the breasts and making the back smaller, Iâm not good at anatomy so donât trust my advice too much
Try thinking of a posture or gesture that has the same kind of posture
And search that
Hm, feels like the breasts need to be that high though, if I draw this line.
Generally depends on perspective though
Her left arm definitely feels like an afterthought though. Should I recede it back a bit maybe?
Maybe scale it up a bit more and see how that works
@lunar sonnet the right armâs length will depend on how forward/backward it is, if the elbow is more behind it will be shorter but as it gets closer it will be longer
Not the whole arm just the part behind the elbow
Like the upper arm
In Chinese culture, itâs important to be polite. Also you only do whatâs asked of you, not whatâs not asked of you.
If you want to do something, ask for permission.
@lunar sonnet I tried making the lower arm longer, what do you think?
The blue lines (not the one from your sketch) is to show where the torso and arm connects
You must be a mindless puppet then...did your owner asked you to reply to me as well? He must be very polite, give him my regards.
Thatâs what Chinese culture is like though, asking for permission and doing what youâve been asked to, like not disobeying parents. Are you implying that all people that have been raised in Chinese culture are mindless puppets lol?
What Iâm saying no matter the culture or if itâs western, etiquette matters
constructive criticism vs criticism vs critique guys
A bit off topic from all of you but I hate it when I've drawn in the wrong layer and now I've done too much progress and really don't want to restart...
Uh me who's malaysian and got asian parents I dont think its that bad lmao idk maybe I'm used to it
wip and the face is cracking me up
I can see the aranara face on him already
Help omg the aranara face I didnt even see that
.__.
Update on this, afraid to start with the hands
the way you put her rib so high up and wide there, it make her head look bigger than her whole body
and cant really tell what kind of hat you going for but it should covered part of the head if it has hollow side
Like this then?
you could tilt it slightly since that is the angle her head is in
and i also recommended to scale the head down a bit and reduce the back side there
scale it down and give her some room for more neck would balance it out better
Is it just me or is the necc kinda weird too
well i didn't draw anything there and just scale down the head after all
so there is no neck there in the first place
This should have been mentioned while I was still on the skeleton.
It'll be much harder to make that adjustment now that all the details have been drawn out
haha~ the chat was light up for a good while there so some doesn't notice your question after all
The ones who were in that convo did give input tho
Just not on the neck
Mostly on the arm and breast positioning
i think the breast is fine enough, it just her right breast is smaller than her left
but since you gonna have her wear jacket and covered most of it anyway
so the biggest problem i can see is just the head became too big
you could always shrink down the hat to turn it into head's accessory
I did, I was just considering whether I should make the hat actually flying
I wanted to stuff a bunch of butterfly motifs in the costume, maybe could attach a few wings and have it fly around or something
you could always make it like there a strong wind and her hat, hair, clothe is blowing away
If her hat was being blown I'd have to change her gesture to hang on to her hat.
Wind is good though
I was thinking for her hair and clothes
Yeah, wind
I used lasso cropping at first but I have to redraw the details every time now I use liquify
Sorry for not giving more information, I thought that you would notice the differences in the annotations I sent in the chat
Iâm not saying itâs bad though and I donât mind it either
You should attach helicopter blades to it /j
That sounds like a good idea and itâd be nice decoration
pardou mibi
how 2 draw gud
I see some difference now that I look at it again but the difference seemed so small it wouldn't register if I didn't know what I was looking for.
well have a reference picture you can use to compare is also help
Learn basic anatomy and proportions. Then set a goal and practice to achieve that goal. And slowly but surely you will get good
swimsuit or bodysuit pic that let you see the body clearly is always good as reference
so don't be shy on using reference photo or even your own body until you got used to it
i accidentally drew a full draft rather than just a 'doodle' đ
thx
Ass shit man
Why. It looks good
Ah yes, "Accidentally"
Bronya sketch
Bruhnya the bully
Donât mess with bruhnya when sheâs mad
Always bullying kiana
i s w EAR it was an accident WHAHAHAH
Does the head connect well to the body?
Maybe Iâve been staring at the drawing for too long
it likely because you use much thicker line for the neck than anything on the head that it looks off to you
Okay thank you
if you add a thicker line on the top of her head combine with darker background, you may have more matching feel with the rest of her body
elysia nurse wip
Very cute
what color should her nurse outfit be
well it is a nurse so it just either white or slight pink anyway
Mostly white but with some purple/pink/black to compliment
mio u r my fav artist here rn, love ur style sm
I decide to redraw a drawing that is 3 month old
Where is the old one?
There is
Is the the girl form the Quintuplets anime
yes nino i think that's her name
Color the new one and then we can see the progress
Honestly the old one looks good too
Exactly.
miss lookalike
Finish
Pardo sketch that Iâll finish tomorrow, advice is welcome im trying new eye styles since same face syndrome
Nice
you may want to change the collarbone then
since if you map it, the collarbone is completely off side compare to the head and torso
Thank you
Please don't give unsolicited critique/commentary/suggestions unless asked. This has been an unspoken rule in this channel for a while but since some people seem to be confused about it we're making it official from now on.
It doesn't matter the tone or intentions of it, if they didn't ask for it please don't do it, we will take action in these cases. Report any of them via modmail as well.
You are on an art rampage, looks nice
trying to make some last checks before going to lineart.
P.S. If anyone mentions the mouth I already fixed it right after taking this pic
Maybe make the shoulder twist a bit?
Her left arm propping on the hip could be a bit higher, and then the right hip would move up to compensate.
alright ty i; ll try that
the small torso make the neck feel super stretchy
you may want to increase the length of her legs as well since her arm and leg almost have the same length there
aa didnt notice that, i put a scarf on her later so i hope that hides the long neck
Does this look better?
i would go for slightly bigger thighs to keep the balance with her upper body
and well, thigh with more curvy line is more attractive over all anyway
it also help avoiding the shoulder feel too wide if you use small thigh
right now there is a huge gap between her upper and lower body that if you cut in between, it looks like it part of different picture than from the same one
I thought this might be the case but seeing my own drawing's neck issues I wasn't sure if my judgement was right.
it more or less because you don't give much room for the lower body, the belt also draw a line to make it even easier to compare between the upper and lower torso
you can see it is a bit more balance this way
also, for that kind of pose, you can go for one leg slightly far out like this since the way you draw make her upper body is a bit tilted there
so with straight legs, it gave off a feeling she may fall down any second
far apart like this give you a more stable pose as well
Thank you so much for all the advice đ I'll rework the legs in a bit
it is a common problem a lot of people have when they start out since you can't gauge the length just yet
I've been starting out for 7 years then apparently
there are thing you may not notice yourself without compare it to other stuff~
during my time when i still draw on sketch book, it certainly feel a lot weird now that i look back since i have no one to really compare it to
specially when to other people not into draw themself, even when your drawing is really basic, they will still praise you anyway
it just easier to improve when you have something to compare yourself to
Thank you so much
I feel like I made the legs too large for the body but idk
I might be tripping but I feel like the chest area should be wider, as it houses the rib cage as well as the breasts
Yea I feel so too but I did a mistake and lined it in pen
I'll try to fix it somehow tho
motivation is being lost
I CANT man i feel like something is missing
its not finished but it just looks weird

Gonna need some input on these curls
i think they look good
The collarbone slants too far down.
The umbrella arm slants too much.
The torso curves are a bit strangely placed.
The flower hairpins need attention.
The placement of her hair feels flat
Her eyes aren't symmetrical.
No mouth.
Frills need to pop in and out more.
Dress details need a different color in order to stand out from the main color.
Background work.
Idk, I'm just spitballing.
id also work on perspective
This. Put a horizon line around her eye level, pick a vanishing point along that, then put down those guide lines.
oh jesus thanks
maybe i should stick to just simple portraits next time
Eh, I'd say don't take all of that advice at once.
Work upwards, make those simple portraits and maybe use one or two of those bullets at a time.
ok thank u guys
I'd say dont try to work on something really complicated unless you're really confident you can do so
Work on the more easy stuff before tackling the big boss :TeriCube:

yeah sorry i went a little ambitious lol
idk i was bored and wanted to draw something
lol teri cube didnt work

also wydm by this, sorry i kinda dont understand
the bg looks flat compared to the person, also it is angled weirdly
You can try to look at more art to find what kind of artstyle you really like
And then 䞎æč (idk how to english) that artist to get better
I mean it's how I do it anyway
everyone starts somewhere, i used to draw like that
study the aritst?
i used to watch speed paints on youtube
oh yeah that maybe can help
ive been drawing for 6-7 years
In my case I'm trying to learn mika pikazo or LAM
damn das epic
oreo how long have u been drawing
I really like the pop graphic design
Since a kid honestly
But I honestly havent tried the techniques until covid started
oh wow das long
i still struggle with backgrounds and perspective
doesnt everybody
yeah
Same here
Yeah that's what I'd do
i need to work on ambient lighting and shading too
I'm basically allergic to flipping the canvas
LOL
lmao
I cant flip the canvas I can literally only draw on one side
bro how do flip an irl canvas tho
i sometimes flip the canvas like to see if the face is akward
You can
flip it over and put it in light
yeah
On one note I have to girnd another 3 art this year
Kill me
Oc3's Christmas art, oc3's bday art on 31st, and fucking new years with all 3 ocs
Die
my shading is like pulling a wild card, its never the same every time
goddamn that elyisa one
damn its beautiful đ
it aint just about how good it looks i care about how long u put into it
You can try subscattering
its just me not being able to find a good shading technique
i do kinda like how i did elysias tho
ooo
Subscattering can make light more dynamic and make light feel more a bit harsher
Light sticks out better if the shadow is more harsher too
i had a little fun doing texture on mobius lol
I cant do honkai chars their design is just too goddamn complicated
same, it took forever for both and it was painful
i miss the times where i shaded like this for furries, would always hurt my wrist from pressing too hard
Bruh I had a weird shading style that I still like but I cant replicate it anymore
Like this was early 2022
And now I'm using the multiply blend mode to do the shading
Which is sometimes
Bland asf
And can sometimes actually look good imo
that looks pretty
Use a mirror
Well you see that's the neat part: I start with something not too simple but not too complicated. Then I just get ideas and start adding shit and before I know it-
the body is a lot more balance now and you don't have to worry about the chest that much, it is well know for art to have "where is her inner~~" so artist can draw however
though you may want to make the breast more round
some artist like to draw the torso long and thin
some like to draw it with more hourglass with extremely thin waist like One Piece
as long you keep in mind the ratio of the body so one part isn't too big or too small in compare, just go for how you like it to be
picture then go to gallery then flip it there
just shine a light in front then look at it from the back
I had no idea I could render skinnn like thisssss absolutely juicy
finished it
Sketches from a project I finished not long ago and the reference I used
Nice details
Thanks!
skeleton hands
The greatest sketch you'll ever see
Doesn't look that bad. Could be worse
Ikr
Yeah
I need some feedback and i also have no idea whether I should draw her original outfit or design a random one
design a simpler version of her clothes
honkai outfits r so confusinggg
True
u can try making changes in her original outfit.
Damn. That's sick
đ
That would be a lot easier for me thx
=3=
it's been a while sensei :"D
arm too short, and the crotch part is to narrow, cause the torso to feel short
right arm should be fine
so it kinda looks short if it's just, sticks and circles
o
so I guess just lengthen torso and adjust the crotch area huh
thanke
well it more like extend the part between the waist and crotch
otherwise, the upper body will look too long in compare
a more box like for the crotch area would be easier to adjust the legs rather than just a triangle
and you can see the chest, stomach, crotch i using a similar length box as well
I should study how the hips work again
and the torso too
I might be able to understand where I went wrong that way
buy yourself a figma, put it up together may give you some idea
donât ask about where the hands are
at least buy a pretty girl one
what have you done to his crotch

why is there a weird mark there

model kit one just more fun for me to use~ not only you put them together part by part but also easier to stare at for pose than regular plain doll
I dont like this honestly
I mean sure it provides the basic proportions and practically anything you need for a model
But tis too simple
I'd prefer something that'll give me more definition on the anatomy

I don't know if it's okay but
Does polymer clay figurine fit in this channel?
Absolutely
Oh great!
Well, I made an elf Elysia one ! I painted the details on the cape
I know I forgot her wings- and also to make a stand
That's so cute, what kind of clay did you use?
I thought that was a train at first
look more like a light sable handle to me
Thank you! I used polymer clay, Fimo and non brand one
You have some serious skill
Umm...
Pipe...hose.. thing
idk how to explain
I'm trying to post a drawing but discord keeps thinking it's nsfw and idk which part to censor for it to send
normal for the most part but you may want to change the feet of her right leg
the way you put the leg, it looks like her right leg is broken rather than crossed her leg
you can see Teriteri's legs for reference
but you can see her feet point ahead while your just bend it side way
I'm down Week 2 of learning what every blender tool/function/button does.
Does anyone have good anime potatohead(alien head)refference I could use for practice? Thanks.
Like this then?
Or do I point it more upwards like the Teri pic
yes, you may want to rise her right leg a bit more like with Teri's case too
since you doing the front angle, leave the leg like that look like it digging in her other leg real hard there
that also will reduce the angle of the leg so it won't look too far away too
well just try to cross your own legs and see how it feel
you will see her feet is way too far away in compare then
Could I DM you the drawing? DC is saying it's nsfw again
lol, sure
đ
WoF fan I see
I was into it a few years back, darkstalker looks nice
does anyone have a ref for the arm thatâs up? Particularly the cloth folds
if you look up genshin fashion archive you'll find the models of all characters including him
ahhh i wish i knew how to render that well
HELP
haha hair wip
Gorgeous

damn nice posing
Send it in #honkai-fan-art too
tried a diff medium today
Is this your your first time. Cuz it doesn't look like your first time
ive used watercolor and chalk before, but not together
so, kinda?

Jesus christ it took me an hour to configure photoshop's set up to my liking and majority of the time spent was just me trying to find the color wheel
And its still clunky
making the ui smaller might help give you a bigger wotkspace as well
or are you working on a lower res screen?
its around 6000 by 8500 pixes
my current device cant handle anymore than tat
its already lagging so bad
Ima go rest now, its 10 pm here
The lighting and shades are just placeholders for now
I might actually consider changing the outfit's color
Red isn't exactly my most comfortable color
I really like the way you color
"only"
Dude I take up to 8 to 12 hours for the most part
The shorter ones are 6 hours
This one ain't even 4 hours i

How does your device not lag?
I only use around 3500 x 4600
Also youâre using your computer to draw, I donât understand how people can draw with a mouse âcause itâs so difficult
It is lagging
I dont really know if its the layers or was it because I was running it for hours straight
Iâd avoid any like resizing tools when possible
When using a canvas that big and your device is lagging
I did try a 8000 x 8000 canvas once but it kept crashing probably because of the resizing and lasso tool
Anyways, nice ellie art
Its lagging and the sceen color aint right so I can't accurately color stuff
It appears more bland when I see it on the screen than how it actually is
Maybe itâs just to do with brightness
Also Iâve noticed when you post some art on discord it may appear slightly desaturated until you click on it
Nah it's the screen itself
I didn't have this problem in the previous PC
Hmmmm
I guess
Atleast it can run photoshop decently
Most laptops arenât really made for drawing I guess
I use my phone for drawing and Iâve also noticed that when I paint over a colour with another colour that has lowered opacity then I try to colour pick or eye drop it itâs not accurate
But thatâs probably an issue with the software itself that I use
No thats actually just color plinking done wrong
When you lower the opacity of something to make it blend with another color and try to eyedrop it
It picks the already blended color not the orginal color you used to blend
And if you're coloring in the same blendmode/ reduced opacity layer, the new color is gonna get affected which results to a different tone than before
A lot of artist actually barely notice this mistake and I'm pretty guilty about it and it is one of the least noticeable errors
This for example
Its on lowered opacity
But then if you try to pick it, it's a different color cuz itz already blended
Then if you try to color on the same blend mode layer it's gonna be inaccurate if you're using the newly picked color

Drawing with a mouse seems impossible
I have a drawing tablet to attach to my laptop but im way too attached to ibispaint
That's why its useful to have these pallets on the side containing the original colors so you dont have to manually pick them again in the color wheel
It serves as your color picked history and most art programs has "Swatches" windows which is just a bunch of individual pallets on tiny boxes
Its actually pretty doable
Mouse drawing techniques mostly just uses shape tools and the fill tool

Also what makes you think art in PC is done with a Mouse

I really should attach my drawing tablet to my laptop again
I did improve a bunch since then so maybe itâll be easier

There's a PC version og ibispaint
The free version is pretty cope compared to the free version in Android
The paid version works pretty much the same
You just have more canvas area
Hmm kind of lame you have to pay for the full ver on pc but maybe itâll be worth it

No, if you have an IPad just pirate ibispaint there
Do you have any other recommendations for pc art programs?
Medibang
Krita
Sketch (I don't really recommend this one)
I do remember having a pirated ver of sai2 but wasnât completely comfortable with that one
For the paid ones most people use Clip Studio for their art
Adobe Illustor apparently isn't bad
Photoshop is actually the least recommended out of the paid version
Paint tool Sai idk tbh I don't really know much about it
When I had my laptop i tried photoshop out and I was overwhelmed to say the least
It's not really worth it
Photoshop is a good program but it's not made for art
I think i have clip studio?
Tried krita out and it's a lot better
I mean you can still make some good art in there but Photoshop is mostly used for refinement and editing art pieces
But I'm too used to my brushes in ibis
I think i got it as extra for purchasing that drawing tablet
I used fire alpaca in the past but isn't it just the same as medibang or smth
I used fire alpaca too
And I legit google searched, "art program jaiden animation used" help
The only thing Ibispaint has an advantage to most free programs is
-
A wide variety of brushes that you'd end up not using
-
It's Manga making capabilities, such as you can paint with screentones rather than apply them which is a really useful feature to have
-
A bunch of filters which you'd also not end up using
From what I've heard paint tool sai is pretty light on ram so you can work on much bigger artworks with a less powerful PC and avoid lagging or crashing
Sai 2 also has a recovery mode
All my brushes were qr codes lmao
And somehow that was perfect for my artstyle
Idk much about Sai, I've seen some people talking about it positively but most of the arts prefer using Clip Studio
they're both paid
I know
I'd just rather use csp
Also clip studio has vector Art iirc
Also my eyes were attacked when everything was literally white
I'm an ibis paint user and I love it too
Then again its like the only drawing app I've used on ipad
Wtf is vector art
I only draw on ibis paint with my phone
It's basically art using math equations rather than pixels
You don't really calculate shit, you just do a stroke and let the program calculate it for you
The advantage of vector art is no matter how much you zoom in, you won't see a single pixel
Oh damn
Vector art also makes it possible to alter an already existing stroke like its thickness cuz its done with math equations, so basically you just slide some sliders and the program will recalculate it so it can alter the form of the line
Also has anyone used sketchbook the app on ipad
I'm an ibis paint loyalist but still curious
Don't bother tbh
Same here
Ibispaint is the best android art program there is
Medibang has a mobile version but it has a complicated set up
Ibispaint is basically made for mobile while having the same performance as pc programs atleast for the basic stuff
One of my biggest con of pc art programs is that at first im a little overwhelmed by everything
Mine was just getting used to drawing on the screen without looking at where my pen goes physically
It took me 3 hours to draw a simple anime head on my first try

Yea i think i started out with a tablet like that too
Wacom intuos M iirc
I gotta boot up my pc, plug all shit with the drawing tablet
And then get the pen
At that point I already forgot wtf I was supposed to draw

Theres also pen displays which are probly the most superior form of an art device
Then a few years later i bought a more âadvanced(?)â drawing tablet where it shows it all on the tablet it self
And then because my drawing tablet also connects the screen
But havenât done anything with it for maybe a year or so since art block was strong
Same tbh it took me months to figure out that ibis had filters
Months
It doesn't have blue light mode
So my eyes are just dying
The pen display i have at the moment is from xp pen i think
AYO SAME
Really should start making art on that thing i loved it
But you need a bunch of cables to set it up
Although the pen display is superior
Pen tablet is a staple for artists because of its affordability and how easy to set it up and not requiring any other equipment other than your PC
Yeah
I'm lazy af to plug all that
Just to draw
When I can lie on potato bed and draw on ibis paint

It was on discount at the time so really wanted to buy it
Almost
But it took me a shit while to actually figure out how to rotate the canvas
My dumbass didnt know how to rotate the canvas
I got a smol XP-Pentab
Imo I would prefer pen tablet honestly
It's much more easy to carry around unlike a thicc ass tablet
True
Old pc before it got hoarded by a brother
Funny enough I recovered that file a few days ago
Christmas eve is still a few hours from now
It's still the 24th
Oh itâs still the 23rd here
Is that heu taeo?
Yes

I just assumed that with a pc you'd usually use a mouse
Oh. I have tried it. I have permanent PTSD from it.
drew on pc with a mouse for year and getting continunous, non wobbly lines was like hell
Ikr
I stuck to paper and pencil
It's what I do best
yea same
Have u shared any art of yours?
Ye but they were mostly just pose practice
Like this
Sure.
Makima?
Mhm
Looks good
Glad she's recognisable in the drawing
Ty
Your welcome. Keep up the good work
Had shikniful help me with it that's why it looks good
Ye. They give great art advice
Thatâs why I use my finger and a phone
HAHA oh nuuu
Hello! I need an opinion please : what vibes does it gives you? I think about old ads posters because of the colors but.. idk
it does have that old yet cartoony vibe to it
It looks good!
I love her expression~
I wonder how big is the file size of the png w

I love it

Anyone got video recommendation on how to draw body portions
It looks good!
I do, but it's in french
Is that okay?
Probably
They have a lot of video to explain the basic stuff. But I'm sure you can find more detailed video if you search well

oh wow
Santa Ei wishes Merry Christmas everyone đ„
This is honestly pretty frustrating
What kind of canvas size does everybody use
4kx4k then adjust depend on what i want to go for
i go for an aspect ratio of 16:9 everytime but its over 6000 px x someting px
I typically use 2kx4k
But for this ellie piece I'm using 6000x8500 cuz I'll be rendering a lot of area out later on
usually around 1.5k x 2.5 k, each dimension is usually between 1-3k
Karenina
A4 but I adjust it if needed
3.5k x 4.6k usually but maybe use 4.5k x 6k if needed
Everyones canvas is so big
Mines like the typical phone res even though im drawing on laptop
Its also taking me forever to draw
And my back hurts cuz im sitting on da floor
well the benefit of digital art is you can just zoom out and draw it like a small canvas size anyway
My phone art canvas is still 2000 by 4000 pixels
Drawing of someone's oc that I'm kinda proud of and I'm okay with any constructive criticism
Just my opinion I think the hand should be a little bigger, but overall it looks pretty good
Is there any good 2D ref for elysia's hohe design?
It's SO complicated I need a good ref and my low res game screenshots can't do the trick
look at her fanarts in google
her in game model is hard to draw so arts help a bit more
hmm actually even though it is completed can i have criticism for this one?
or just use this
i would throw in the 3D in-game reference too but sadly i don't have her
I got her in-game so if you want I could take a few pics for 3d reference

can someone give me tips on how to shade hair? I always feel lost despite watching videos and observing other people's artworks
still haven't gotten that eureka moment
adding a bit of colour to the strands of the hair might help them get more visible thus improving the hair
just simple add more light streak on the right then darker one on the left
just do more and see how it looks~
i just do it lightly there after all
because of the color, i actually see it like a couch is burning
Nah it looks like its about to sit weirdly on a chair and can't remember names
Ngl it looks like it's a sleep pose on the bed
My mother does aquarel painting a lot so decided to paint with her (first time doing aquarel painting more or less
)
Attempt at somewhat of a background
how do you know that đïžđđïž
lmao its true (as i grew up around many furries during my art journey)
depend on how long it took for you to finish it
What platforms would you recommend selling comms on (I havenât established myself on any yet)? And how much per hour would you recommend charging?
well deviantart is a good place to start, as annoying as it is
if i remember, they even have shop so you can sell your print on
as for price range, it is pretty much depend on what kind of stuff you want to go for
just draw character with minimum background or go all out with the detail
well if you are unsure, you can always set around $10-$20 range to test thing out and adjust accordingly
though whatever you do, try to set up proper rule for your commission to avoid getting something too weird that you don't want to deal with
I wouldn't recommend $10-20 for start, you're really undervaluing yourself, your time, and your art. The basics of finding a price range is the time it takes to finish a piece + minimum wage and factor in your skill set and your exposure. You can advertise yourself on deviantart like shik said but be mindful that they are AI sellouts and anything you put up there if you don't select the proper options will be used for AI. You can also promote your work on various discord servers and reddit.
twitter is also good~ though the algorithm can be annoying sometime
well just spread your stuff as much as you can to attract people
keep posting your own stuff then eventually you will have someone ask for commission
but again, it is really important for you to set a proper rule of what you accept as commission because people can ask for really weird thing or even beg for free stuff
remembered about aponia that i started a month ago, ugh
what can possibly happen to cause Aponia to wide opened her eyes like that
ye commissiom details can get weird sometimes ahaha
but anyway~ it is fine to set some low price option too along you set it limit to certain thing, like say just a character standing in basic pose since sometime you can get request to design an OC
not everyone have money to throw at you for commission after all
so nothing wrong with set one option for the "commoner"
ever had rough encounters with clients, shik?
not at all, they are all reasonable, if anything they seem to be more surprise at how fast i work
like all their previous artists took like month to finish their stuff or something
hahaha
well you usually found more annoying clients in deviantart anyway
since you do have a lot of begger there
facebook groups as well
several years of doing these and havent encountered a rude one yet but definitely encountered ppl who want art for free and comms i had to refuse because of the weird details in it. đ
i refused 3 as well this month lol
ah ya~i remember that one person begging for art and when i refuse, she just say how noone love her and so on back when i still in deviantart
i had a fun encounter with one of them last time, he was like...do you draw for free? i was like nah, he replied with welp, time to go job-hunting for me, ill get back to you on that
stuff like that make it nice to have good client who even throw you extra $100 as tip
yup
so just be ready to deal with those begger and try not to fall for their soft story
I always laugh at those begger stories but would be such a pain to deal with those myself
gotta learn to refuse in a professional way
Would love to open commissions myself but i wanna develop my art style a bit more before i do

i think you also wanna ask yourself if youre willing to draw for other ppl
Yes
Really??
Time to learn furry art
I'll try to open up commissions on Chinese new year
Because its after my exams
Original plan was December but final exams are on January lmao
It's common knowledge in the art community
There's just a lot of rich asss furries out there
How tf do you draw fluffy hair boys help
I see references I'm like okay this is how I do it but my hand says no
it is less about furry art but more on the "draw a kink"
a lot of artists got popular because they develop their art in certain trait
like say Halcon really love to put girl in competitive swimsuit
M-da Tarou also became super popular because of his love for dark skin girl
Popqn is... all about weirdly design clothe
yet he now work for a gacha game's here and there
heck the first thing you think about when someone mention Atelier Ryza is Ryza has huge thighs
it is a good way to make long lasting impression after all
if you like a character so much, people may even treat that character like you owned them
just as Mitarashi Kouhei did to Akiko-san from Kanon for like 20 years now...
