Skipping a archetype or not is either because you can't afford a unit, or less commonly seen because someone doesn't like the archetype itself.
Skipping is at the end of the day can be done for any reason the player feels like it.
Saying "skip because they'll get powercrept in xx months" isn't a valid argument, because that's how a live service gacha keeps making money, they favor new things and make old units not so favorable for the current content.
Someone can truly care about the archetype even if "can't clear every endgame content in 0 cycle" and keep using that team for as long as they want, after all they paid for it.

So it really is a case by case, and it can't really be generalized as simply as "because power creep killed my favorite archetype"
