Shipi go sleep
thats the whole point of the factory system
Ooohhhh
This in genshin when
Or ateast a resin storage like fuel in HSR
At least*
you remember that area where you and Perlica rode in on that motorcycle ?
that area is the Science part of the region
you unlock it if you just keep progressing main to deal with the hole that opens in the sky above the power plant
ts is so me yesterday
yeah i just got to the part where the hole opens in the sky
I played like 13 hours yesterday
I've never played a gacha for that long on launch before
but I'm loving this game
if you are curious about some of my production
I'm mining way more orignium than I can store lmao
xd
oh Avywenna is from the land down under
I need to get started on mining Ferrium Ore so I can finally make blue gear
but thats for tomorrow
im making canned stuff
you can stack the belt bridges like that ?
oh right, @errant fractal you should do some stock trading for quick money at the Stock Redistribution
Add a bunch of random people to your friends list, then see if you have any items that are currently low
You can then buy a bunch and see if anyone on your friend's list is buying high and sell it all
Did it earlier and made like 50k
had someone on my friend's list who was buying at +129%
wtf
this isn't even that crazy
I watched Mr Pokke's video on when he discovered this and someone in his friend's list was buying at +600%
dayum
his buying price was 638 and he sold it for 4640 each
😭
no these numbers are set by the game and its rng
so its better to have a ton of friends
I just started adding like 50 people
a real community market would be crazy though
it functions almost the same way as stocks
if there are too many people selling to that person, the price goes down
I love that this game has a little something for everyone
regular combat, factory building, stock trading and literal tower defence
i think matchmaking may have fucked the other guy
I still cant believe i managed to pull you into the mommy hole

Omg is that s classes I raised
Wait what happened to Neo
Welp. Got spoiled on Dowan NOT dying.
'missed in arknight' /j
Well f me
Sorry, that was bad of me
Ahh yes. Luio Woomin.
Thank you, Judau for hitting back.
leave it to MS to fucking randomly reset audio setting in windows
Endministrator, get him
you prob. have more playtime than me by now 😛
Nah, I’ve only played like
10 hours?
Not that much. I’m only level 16
Pyra and some other folks here…
They’ve got like full factory set up
thats already more than I did 😉
Ain’t no way
Ger this game is like crack cocaine
I can’t get enough
I think I’m addicted
reminder, I am working
yesterday 5h, today maybe another 5h, tomorrow maybe another 5h, Sunday: cant predict bc SUN I do Bounty's in DNA too
I am far to addicted to exploring instead of doing main quest xD

me when I'm spreading misinformation
@blazing plume just to give you an idea how slack I am when it comes to leveling and rather do exploring:
me: lvl10-11/character, fights elites of lvl30+
Same
I actually need to stop exploring and get a minimal overlayed on my screen so I can keep track
There’s two but I’m not sure which one is good
The dangerous lady is just so hot
#Night
#GoodNight
time to burn you
lul @blazing plume I found a hilarious oversight in the story (note I am behind you), you actually can get past a few of the story only invisible walls in the 2nd area

perfectly coded game, invisible (well technically visible) walls are supposed to keep me out until I destroyed the power sources, yet here I am standing:

So much factory to build
I got Last Rite from my first standard multi
Yes I'm Endfielding
Also wow there are
A lot of characters
and now go look up the roster of the original arknight xD
Oh i'm well aware
Love these memes
The factory must grow
funny enough I want her from standard pool, so I wont get her
She is gorgeous
it was and wasnt

she is, and actually decently strong too
@acoustic raft (continuing from a diff channel) so it's a simple question but I am curious if arknights story wise would interest me, to preface the things I really enjoy are often due to how I treat fiction as something to take seriously and learn from. Hi3 and hsr are my favorite thing ever because of just how much they moved me via their philosophical and existential statements about life through the story they are telling. That is pretty indicative of the tastes I have in general.
What the hell are these accents
OG arknight has a lot of conflict and discrimination as topic early on
Eyja
ive heard a lot of good stuff abt og arknights but i am ABYSMAL at tower defense, i began Endfield though and it is the best looking gacha game ive ever played
Arknights is a bit of a different beast than Honkai games. It's very heavy on lore, world building and politics of the world. The protagonist and his crew are basically on most wanted list by the world for some stuff they did in the past. You will surely find philosophy and existentialisms there. Plenty of it. Character writing is also very good and did give me a few emotional gut punches along the way
Also I'd say it's darker story than both Hi3rd and HSR
I may check it out then i've always been interested.~ ❤️ endfield coming out has put it on my mind, I tend to refuse to play something new first like you'll never catch me play a 5 of a series even if thats the one that caught my eye I will go do everything that came before it
not darker than GGZ though
Haven't read GGZ yet so I can't say
Endfield so far seems a lot lighter than og arknights, but im still relatively at the beginning
Endfield also isn't too tied to first game
Iirc it's hundreds or thousands of years in the future?
Something like that
It's like at least 100 years into the future
And I think it's different planet
it is, it actually plays a lot later than OG arknight, Rhodes Island for example changed a lot
Damn
Is this still locked or can you just unlock by progressing through the story?
i mean its pretty hard to beat a game that ||kills its entire cast off, just to bring them back and have a scene of mei sobbing covered in blood while kiana is absorbed by the WoH||
Yeah but GGZ has Wendy so
it is, arknight plays on 'Terra', while endfield plays on the moon Talos-II
could be completely unrelated but the way I process story isn't about literal plot ties. For example Nier and Nier Automata as 2 amazing works of art narratively are almost entirely disconnected from one another if one were to think of story in the sense of "information that effects the information of the other story"

But I'm not too interested in Endfield as I'm not much of a sandbox games fan
but the 2 are inseperably tied via themes and their statements and the impact its narrative has on you is a combination of both stories
Nah i don't think so, they have a lot of references to og arknights in the story
Is the MC of endfield different from the MC of AK?
Yes
They are
Ye
it is a different planet, its actually confirmed in the lore

yes, comparing the Endministrator with the Doctor is a sin
Mebbe i didnt get far enough yet
I know nothing, so it ain’t a sin
The Dokutah is also a hella war criminal
Yeah they mention in the story like in the beginning of the game
Even during AK
anime doctor though
Og arknights is
though
They were chasing shadows
I looked at the beginning of og Arknights and my first thought was like “oh! the Doctor and Enfielder are kinda the same trope”

LOL no
Honestly war crimes are like average Tuesday in this universe
sowwy
They might be amnesiacs
Well, dijiang is just arknights Base but 3D
But that's about as far as that goes
they also sleeped for long
and that girl with ears, forgot her name, feels a lot like Perlica
bunny > Perlica
Perlica is cat wife
whom will the Endfielder chose, the childhood friend guide or Sushang?
-# no idea if she’s a childhood friend, but same vibes
Amiya isn't like Perlica
@acoustic raft anyway, thank you for your answer and everyone else who gave comments as well, I will definitely be considering it, also from a biased perspective I heard it's very gay and that's something I have a bias for and it's always been on my radar because of that for a long time, lol.
?
nah she is better I only have the tendency to write her name wrong, hence I just call her bunny
Og arknights?
Yeah no
I mean there are pretyy canonicallly gay characters
But it's not like it's forced down player's throat
looks like there is a weird rumor going around somewhere
I love my bunny
I meant that as in its there at all, a bit of hyperbole
Use her everywhere
you could say the same about games like 'Guild wars 2' though
maybe it’s more of an European thing, but when I hear “a lot of gay stuff” I also first thinkg of “forced down your throat” rather than simply being there
depends honestly on the writer too, but there is since a few years a huge trend of forcing it into everything
Yeah I'm not saying it's everyone but it is a noticable trend
Guild Wars 2 for example is made by an american company, and those few gay couples in there all developed naturally
I just enjoy the presence of such things generally since i'm a lesbian myself stating it how I did was playful excitement which I didn't communicate well enough.~
I don't like forced stuff though, obviously i have preferences as to how its done
but i didnt engage with its story yet so I cant know more than "its present"
And I dont want to go to work in 12h
Arknights?
don’t know much about original, but from what I heard from people who played it they like it a lot and Endfield is very fun atm
you probably heard it above too
Arknights is one of THOSE gachas people play for the good vn style story
Like Fate Grand Order, Limbus Company, Granblue Fantasy or Girls Frontline
granblue was my first i havent played its story in a long while though, I didn't fall out of interest but I play tons of new things all the time and several huge binges in a row have caused me to put it on the backburner
She was my 2nd op
I stopped playing Granblue because at some point it started feeling like a second job
i thought she's limited
gachas have that to them in general
?
it says she's from chartered headhunting
Oh, yea
Granblue was MUCH more time consuming than an average gacha
Almost MMO tier type of time commitment
as someone who also plays gbf granblue is insanity if you take it seriously
I always work on SAT, so yeah... additionally its morning shift week
I made a video about mature sonickid was mad and almost turned dark because of yuzuha experiment what what human did to her in good timeline au sonickid universe but he still non canon
you really like Sonic
I played in a guild in Gbf and that after two years was a nail in a coffin
technically could put Heaven Burns Red into the gacha with huge VN story too
Yeah that too but ngl I'm kinda tired on school settings nowadays
we have something called guild war every 2-3 months in granblue it lasts for a week whenever it runs and it is a 30-50 hour time investment for maximum rewards assuming you are peak meta because its a competitive thing and the time isnt solid but it is essentially a grind race that last 6 consecutive 16 hour periods

Like I said, MMO tier time commitment
granblue is in a weird state of "how you choose to engage with it changes everything" though because the thing is you can engage with gbfs entire story without doing anything ever game wise if you just want the story
I'm meta slave so no wonder that killed my interest in the long run
you could just play events (majority of gbf story is events not msq and they are more substantial than what you know as events in other gachas)
and msq
its scaled based on you so no grind necessary or anything
and experience the whole story with none of that guild war nonsense
it’s hard for me to view gachas as just VNs, cause normal VNs are typically just better
more branched too
The unfortunate truth is gachas are more profitable than VNs
Competition in something like a gacha is a huge turn off for me, it's why I quit hi3, epic seven
Even feh
VN studios nowadays either scrape the bottom of financial barrel or branch out into live service games
understandable take i dont like it either but for me I just take the loss on materials/gains/draws etc
i'm in everything I engage with for story i'm really weird as someone who games as their primary interest
And I know that gachas have limitations that make it impossible to do some story stuff without backlash/standing in opposition to business side
the "game" part is the thing i care least about
Ngl FGO has dogshit gameplay but I play it just for the story
I just pulled most meta team and cruise through
I like og arknights, figuring out the tower defense part is fun
FGO turn-based combat is surprisingly complex for its simplicity too actually
imho at least
If I want complex gameplay I have better alternatives from the stuff I already play
Very big difference between turn off your brain 3 turn farming and doing the big story boss battles
it’s not a complexity of SMT or anything by any means, but more complex than say Star Rail
yeah, true
That's a low bar anyways honestly
also true
gbf can have incredible gameplay though hilariously because its so complicated I don't engage with it even though i do like it
the big current newest raid is like scary complex and interesting each new raid
I play Girl's Frontline and going deep into its systems feels like exploring some lovecraftian occult documents
Lucillius 250 came out and it was like 2 months before a team even cleared it iirc
Like you can't even make a tier list for the characters
Because there are so many moving parts it's impossible to grade characters in isolation
lol
reminds me of my friend who got into final fantasy 11 and tried to explain to me its systems which made my head spin
I even played 11 myself after and got far into it and never understood still
I play FF14 and it isn't that much better in that aspect lol
FF XI suffered from being an MMO for PS2
Im still trying to figure out endfield's factory system
so complex
some still play it apparently
It even gets story updates still froom time to time
i'm "up to date" with ff14 I beat base dawntrail but how i treat 14 is with my story mindset so i've not gone back because i dont intend to until post dawntrail is fully out and i'll binge it all in a single month sub
when I was browsing forums for what Log Horizon was most likely based on, most agreed it’s the og FF XI
I really hated Dawntrail. That was like a first true crisis of faith moment in that game for me
And I've been playing for 11 years now
I think dawntrail is "good" and it suffers from following up 2 masterpieces
I consider it worse than ARR
to each their own I wouldnt wish arr on my worst enemy
but dawntrail i could recommend to some
My ranking is Endwalker>Shadowbringers>Stormblood>Heavensward>ARR>Dawntrail
I think it depends on how you went through the game tbh not saying you are wrong but just offering some perspective
you said you had your first crisis of faith in 11 years so
arr is a long time ago for you and you probably experienced it live?
One of my gripes is that the type of story they wanted to tell doesn't lend itself to a silent/self insert protagonist
As in being a mentor
I replayed ARR after they slimmed it down
I think that's a fair criticism for sure.~
I have tons of issues with dawntrail as i said I think it's "good"
good isnt high praise
i think its passable and has some merits of worth
absolutely lol endwalker is like insanely beautiful and profound and quite I often have described it as "unsafe"
i'm surprised they told a message like that in a commerical game
some arthouse stuff got in somehow and they went all in on it
Endwalker cemmented FF14 as my favourite FF game and one of my favourite stories told in game
same same ❤️ one of my favorites period of anything even beyond ff as a series
I consider it my 3rd place beneath hsr and hi3
I don't think I could even rank in order my favourite game stories
There are too many
i only do it to make a point i dont believe in ranks
everything has its own individual merits and worth on its own thats not really fairly comparable
but I can say what "changed my life the most"
and that undeniably goes to hsr
For me most life changing in the most literal way was Persona 4
I havent played p4 actually its on my backlog though.~
I played it on ps2 at the end of middle school when I was relentlessly bullied and only had one friend. I was quite retreated but that game gave me courage to seek new connections
that's awesome ❤️ I can totally see how that would work out considering the subject matter
ive been meaning to play the persona games, in order, but i began playing persona 1 and it was unironically one of the worst games ive ever played
Persona 1 is quite bad true
But Persona 2 duology is the best in the series for me
But you still have to remember these are almost 30 year old rpgs so mechanically they don't hold out as well as newer games
i couldnt get part the 1st part of the game as the god-awful first person sections with a billion random encounters made me very pissed
i installed psp persona 3 on an emulator but never got round to playing it
you could always try a modded version or something if you ever want to try again, it does change the original intended experience but sometimes that is helpful if your intentions dont match whatever the game is trying to be
Persona 2 already got rid of fpp exploration
But random encouters are still there
Shift away from that across the genre only started happening during ps3/x360 generations
yeah, it wasnt the random encounters alone that were the problem for me, it was that they were every 3 steps in the maze of a hospital that got on my nerves
im def gonna play some of the newer games, but i dont really have the motivation to unless they come to PS+
You'd be surprised how common it was in jrpgs in the 80s and 90s
I'll never say I miss those times
But that was the genre standard for decades so I'm not holding it against those games
i have an awful habit of not finishing games if i get annoyed by them for like 1 day
some games still even do this to this day
it’s just not for everyone
it can be a means to tell a story too
i got deep into a game but a softlocking bug made me give up on it, havent played again since that day
I have a lot of patience for games. I usually only don't finish a game if it's just straight up bad
Like broken beyond jank
if im really enjoying a game i will sink AGES into it
case in point: Cyberpunk 2077, i sunk hours into just exploring the world and not even playing the story
Final boss rhythm minigame ptsd

I literally locked the metronome in to the rhythm and was tapping alongside it cause visual cues were dogshit

last note was good
I was literally counting bars to get to this note
“I” by Michael was a clue
honestly it was probably even intended to do so
“don’t look at it, pay attention to the rhythm!”
game intentionaly bad
a Yoko Taro special
Drakengard 1 was a great story but goddamn was that gameplay a walk through hell
most of the most artistic games narratively do things that are intentionally there to not be enjoyable from a game sense
you got earthbound being an absolutely terrible rpg to simulate childhood inconvenience
you got death strandings entire runtime
etc
I mean even good horror games need to have bad elements to it (usually combat) to make it scary
As in you can't just play a marine
which reminds me, I wanted to play original Fatal Frame
Fatal Frame is literally my favourite horror series ever
counterpoint: DOOM works as a pseudo-horror because its scary but also a power fantasy game and is fun asf
does first game have tank controls?
(I’m bad at ’em)
It's got horror elements but is not a horror. Major difference
i've played fatal frame 1 I don't have strong memories of it personally but I assume 1 isn't what its famous for
I never got to the next entries yet
my brotha you ARE THE HORROR in DOOM
Series gets progressively better with every entry (besides Maiden of Black Water, the last entry)
They kinda fumbled that one but it was still a good horror game regardless
you play as the horror, the demons are the horror game players
random but the talk of doom guy and games in general made me remember the doom guy mii outfit jumpscare for smash's final update
I want to remind everyone that Doomguy began the whole crusade because demons killed his pet bunny

i havent played eternal or dark ages yet so idk if they retconned that or went all in on it
I hope they went all in on it
demons have chosen death
Only doom 3 is retconned from the timeline iirc
i know that one of the cofounders retconned the retcon that it was because his wife and child were killed
also as a side tangent I do think its kinda funny that atleast doom 2016 as its the only one i played and can speak for in the revamped doom lineup is more of a quake game than a doom game
not that it makes it any lesser I love doom 2016 i just think its funny
It's true tho
It did feel like expansion on Quake 1-2 and Eternal went full Quake 3 Arena
i'm excited to play eternal eventually, the weird thing is i bought it when it came out but i literally have just let it sit there
I had quite a few cases like this
And for me Eternal is the best FPS of the last decade or so
fps is a genre i never found myself really playing or thinking i'd enjoy and then there was one game i played and really loved and i dont remember what it was
the fps that really stuck with me was Cyberpunk 2077 tho
not a fan of fps, but boomer shooters are fine
Bioshock too
does Return to Castle Wolfenstein count as boomer shooter one actually?
I've always been an fps fan but I feel neglected in the genre nowadays because barely anything even has campaigns now
No
oh god the Black Ops games...
havent played either of the newest ones but from what ive seen theyre awful and the newest one has ONLY multiplayer campaign
I count boomer shooters as stuff like Doom1-2, Castle Wolfenstein, Quake 1-3, Blood
I very much think 2000-2001 was kind of a cutoff point for boomer shooters vs "modern" shooters
Yes it was great
I liked when Wolfenstein was about fighting occultic nazis
theres tons of indie boomer shooters EVERYONE wants to make one lol
it’s probably because of the level design in Doom/Quake
maps were actually interesting
I recently 100%'d cyberpunk 2077 it was the previous project before i dived into hi3
so like i did it all a few months ago, great game ❤️
When I see a soulslikes nowadays parading as a character action games
Something dies inside me
I'm surprised "stylish action" dmc likes aren't something that are spammed out like other buzz genres
It was during ps2 and ps3 era
Then it kinda died
When Dark Souls dropped and everyone and their mother started to want to make one themselves
I like Souls games, but I also don’t feel like every game should be a Soulslike
Besides Nioh series literally no soulslike came even close to fromsoft output
tbf even I wanna make a souls like (I intend to develop games eventually) I love the genre but it is oversaturated
The way mechanics work in soulslikes doesn't lend itself to freeform emergent combat
~~Aya, wanna collaborate on a game project? I already have a headless 3D modell half-done
~~
XD
~~ souls like rogue like deck builders are the bane of my existence xD~~
I still think Ninka Gaiden 1 and 2 were peak of action combat
The fact no one was inspired by them is a travesty
ninja gaiden is the most unfriendly game experience ever, not anything bad inherently but like
it's like it greets you at the door with a full force brick in the face
its very unique for that~
Yes it's hard as balls but also insanely fun once you start understanding the mechanics
Even the creator himself called the series a meth in game form
I think a 3D Castlevania in good would be neat
I havent played bloodstained yet but isnt that what it is basically?
Yeah
or I’m thinking of a different one
probably
3d Castlevanias were closer to character action games
add sigma to it, and you have a world of pain
Not dmc tier ofc but they had something under the hood mechanically
they just forgot the Castlevaniaing part
the old wild west of gaming ps2 and below is so fun to think about not in a sense of "it was better" in many ways it was horrible but it had some charming enigmas
like i'm reminded of how they randomly made a castlevania fighting game for no good reason
and made all the character designs horrible
There weren't any genre standards so everyone was throwing stuff at a wall to see what sticks
I think PS2 designs are more the way they are due to inexperience with 3D at that time still
they also learned how fast they could pump games out and because of that the ps2 if i'm not mistaken still has the largest library of all single consoles period?
I still think "looks like a ps2 game" is a bad faith criticism because they still mostly look fine
a lot of it is pure garbage but the experimentation is crazy
If someone looked me in the eye and said mgs3 looks bad
Then I would know they lack any kind of taste
Suddenly arknight keeps closing on android does anybody face this issue?
Around 3500 iirc
I don’t play on phones, sorry, can’t tell
I still play ps2 games on occasions even now. Its library alone is so massive I likely won't run out of games to play for decades
theres a lot to see and the thing about that era is that tons of games really go under the radar because of the sheer volume
I spot ancient people talk
Like rn I'm playing 10000 bullets. It's basically animed up japanese Max Payne
I am only 26
And is cool as hell
It's cool people are talking about retro games
same age category
I have not adjusted to what retro means in this decade
NES
my boi
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soulcalibur_III
After Soul Blade, it's the Soulcalibur I grew up with
Soulcalibur III (ソウルキャリバーIII, Sōrukyaribā Surī) is a 2005 fighting game developed and published by Namco as a sequel to Soulcalibur II (2002) and the fourth installment in the Soulcalibur series. It was originally released for the PlayStation 2 and was followed by an improved arcade version, subtitled Arcade Edition, in 2006. ...
didn't ds games massively skyrocket in value since they stopped printing them or something
froggy ❤️

I remember this intro
Let's remember that ps3 is to current teenagers like a nes was to kids growing up in 2000s
photorealism
SC3 is hilariously bugged for competetive play. Actual top clown tier shit you could do there
I do wonder if we will hit a point where games stop looking significantly different each generation, I personally feel like ps4 to ps5 (I count gens based on playstations im sorry) didn't change visuals much
and "remastering" becomes pointless
it’s the problem with modern games in general, in search for the ultimate photorealism, the artistry was left behind

I hope we'll stop chasing graphical fidelity and focus more on gameplay, destructible environments and such
Stuff that actually requires creativity
photorealism with framegen to smoothen the low fps eyesore
like… there’s nothing wrong with accurate lighting, but if it comes at the expense of artistic expression and style, then it’s not worth it imho
I think blanket statements like these should be avoided imo theres just as much artistry now as there ever was its just where it is
not everything needs to be made for everyone it cant be that way
the problem is games being made for everyone to maximize profit margin
You can find a lot of artistic stuff. It's just not that prominent in aaa space
yeah
i think thats just how triple A spaces work though and the only reason it was any different was because pre ps3 era they didnt have it figured out as a system yet
once they figured out the formula to profits it was over but thats every creative industry
but the creatives making the amazing stuff just either somehow get it made triple A when they can or are to be found elsewhere in the scene
When are going back to AA budgets
Like a lot of legendary games were in that budget ballpark
Although
It has the most single player content out of any Soulcalibur
Including Chronicles of the Sword
we are in the age of AAAA gaming
just gotta look around its the sad truth that tons of stuff is made all the time but marketing determines what we see without trying
And I know one of the problems are investors who want the companies to either go under or make gazillions dollars right off the bat
gotta do your own research to find the great stuff now.~
of course then theres also when an artist just happens to get successful enough to fund their own projects like a kojima
I think the mere fact alone that older games are being remade and remastered speaks for itself
not that it’s being done good, not at all, but that there is is an attempt
idk what you mean
Maybe it's my hot take but I truly believe that the games that should be remade should be those that weren't perfect and can be truly improved on significantky
yes!
ideally by original creators who couldn’t fully fulfill their vision back then
I was very upset that demons souls "remake" just existed to ruin the artistry of demons souls without improving what is a VERY flawed game
and not how they massacred my WC3
@blazing plume looks like game wants me to build physical:
I don't see a point to remakes that are like 1:1 besides just prettier graphics
Which also often lose on the original's artstyle
Like Shadow of Collosus or Demons Souls remakes
Or recent MGS3 delta
https://youtu.be/kK0cmL1OxU0 don’t you like the new sounds though?
Sound redesign I did of some of the magic spells from the 2020 remake of Demon's Souls.

I mean I get the point I often think of games i really enjoy and how much more they could be if their looks didnt hold them back but this depends on the specific game as aesthetic and graphics arent the same and artistry is what matters but theres definitely places that games could be improved that are visual/presentation issues without any purposeful addition to the experience
for example having just binged hi3 all the way through it's rough in a lot of places that a remake could make it amazing
ik its a live service gacha and would never get a remake but just an example
Like actually one game that immediately comes to my mind is Drakengard 1. That game had such terrible ground combat that literally anything else would be better
I mean… Sakura Samsara clearly misses some bits
Remake would fix it
But I know the ground combat in Drakengard was a last minute directive from the publisher they had to add
Like months before release
It wasn't an original intention for it to be bad
But you could say gameplay is as much of a suffering for the player as what the characters were going through in the story
Booo
I have to admit I agree drakengard 1 is an art game and I wanna love it but playing it was torment which was the point but I have nothing but spite for that experience lol
well he is a physical support, so its fine
the ost made me turn the music off, i've never done that to a game before and it goes against my morals with how i treat art
but i couldnt take it
puts you in the shoes of the protagonist
ik the music is literally designed to make you feel like you are going psychotic
well congratulations but you did TOO well
It was anything but on brand
But see some of the greatest games artistically had friction in the gameplay
yooo its
i appreciate drakengard 1 and despite hating the experience that ultimately doesn't matter since it got its message across and especially how it adds to the rest of the series nier/drakengard 3 (which is incredible) but it was not pleasant to go through lol
would non-tank-controlls (how do you call “normal” controls? lol) make Silent Hill a better game?
it would be easier to play (at least for me), but something would be lost
precisely that
The thing in survival horror games is that gameplay needs that mechanical friction to get the point across
not having movement-issues would trivialize the monsters
horror is a really interesting genre (when done right) in any medium be it film or games or whatever else
ar least it’s not a dupe
Would it be scary if you could easily dodge enemies and slash at them like you're playing dmc? Surely not
Did you see that one video on why horror games have beautiful music
yes I have ❤️
Could go the RE9 approach
Well they split it to 2 characters with different gameplay styles
Or the approach where they give you weapons, then take it all away for a section
An interesting thing to note i've thought of many times and brought up to others is that I think dark souls makes an effective horror game
I was actually making that point back when Demons souls released on ps3
if I hear the boss music on the streets I’ll probably panick roll
Like in Demon's Souls a lot of areas were so dark you kinda had to walk slowly fearing what might jump from an unlighted corner
Because you could see like 2-3 meters in front of you
hide behind pillar
XD I think there's a lot of perspective to be found in introspection and replays/rewatches of things, I bring this up because atleast personally I think it's really fun to look back at what we used to think is challenging and in a replay realize how far we have come like how players complained in mass dark souls 3 is too easy but we are all biased based on our memories of things instead of literal truth
the reality is the easiest (hyperbole) elden ring boss eclipses ornstein and smough
Also legacy skill is a thing
the healer dupe is actually huge though, although people dont understand it 😛
Smough and Ornstein might not be the hardest boss in retrospect, but doing ’em first time was mental
it only took me 8 hours to beat them
once you know how to beat ’em, Dark Souls has ended
yea that experience teaches a lot about patience which is really the core value of souls and why I actually think people are missing the point when they call souls likes hard games
generally souls games are actually quite easy they just punish bad mental hard
well… it’s hard
@blazing plume tell me, why wouldnt you want to have this:
hard games are things like touhou on max difficulty nightmares
Like I really love monster hunters and I say that Wilds was way too easy but my friend who started with this one didn't think so but I also had literal thousands of hours spent in previous games
souls games are great because you can get a lot more after beating it by restricting yourself to a challenge
and then cri in pain
thats another thing about souls thats interesting how modular the difficulty is
I never considered soulslikes as truly hard games
what's a hard game
easy or hard ultimately doesnt matter its just something I find interesting to dissect
I do that with everything though dont mind the professional overthinker
For me a hard game is Ninja Gaiden, Monster Hunters on Master Ranks or from recent stuff I'm playing Reverse Collapse: Code Name Bakery
fatalis in world is probably my favorite thing ever gameplay wise in any game ever btw
took me like a week to solo it finally since i solo hunt everything as "first experience"
and week does not mean incremental small play sessions
But the processes of learning until I could fight him without getting hit was really satisfying in the end
it took too long... but it was an experience
pretty much what he demands of you
the timer will end your hunt if you waste time healing
alatreon is my 2nd favorite and i disagree
I hate dps check mechanics in this series
I think its a matter of perspective
the entire fatalis fight from literally the second it starts is a dps check
imo
But it's not like he'll kill you instantly in the middle of the fight
For failing the dps check for phase 1
ye alatreons mechanic is unfriendly especially to multiplayer since its a whole fight wipe if that goes off once in a team of 3 or 4
but as a solo hunter it doesnt feel unbalanced
Well I always play monster hunters with the same group of friends
I never really enjoyed this series solo
Maybe because my weapon sucks for solo fights in general
I prefer everything solo that's just how I am lol even if the solo is unintended which can bite me
I played code vein solo
aka turned off the ai partner
this was a mistake...
Elden Ring also isn't very fun completely solo for me
Bosses are really overtuned for that
They're swinging at you as if they have almost infinite stamina
bosses with a gimmick were fun
like for instance that one slime in a cave
with invisibility
I really liked how Dark Souls 3 and Bloodborne's boss fights felt like elaborate dance
cause you had to figure out how to beat ’em
I can see that though I still prefer it solo, but it's about perspective, I like feeling like "I did that" when somethings over and being in a team even if i carry makes me feel like it wasn't really my achievement a lot of the time
But Elden Ring feels like you're getting whipped in a dungeon
which isnt me being selfish or a bad teammate or anything
I just dont feel as accomplished about it
I undertand that perspective
But mine is: If the game allows it I will take all the advantages I can
same
speaking of awesome moments in team games though there are times when you can end up being the hero to your whole team which may be some of the most trascendent gameplay moments ever
if the game gives me fire bombs then I’ll use ’em against Capra Demon dogs
works smart, not hard
my experience of endwalker in ff14 goes HARD because of an unscripted gameplay thing I pulled off in the story playthrough first time
Actually my second favourite coop series is Earth Defense Force
It's so dumb and addicting
ff14 spoilers -> ||In my endsinger raid at the end of the story I was the last one standing with 10% hp left on the boss as the tank and I made it to phase 2 for the prayer revive of all wiped party members||
the amount that elevated the experience of the story of endwalker while being entirely unintentional as a part of it was immaculate
moments like that are great
Yeah. That's just something that can never be replicated solo
also playing elden ring nightreign with friends of mine the game is intentionally designed for multiplayer completely and i basically had another "lock in and win for the team" moment with the dlc boss
though it was intense and insane and i probably shouldve just died
had to do the last 25% alone on harmonia
I was ducchess and the 2 teammates were on their 3 bar revive penalty so there was no viable chance of me getting them up meaningfully lol
thats why i say I prob shouldve just died instead of playing 20 mins of solo
but it worked!

What’s a good ardelia team? I don’t know what I’m doing in this game tbh
Fatalis mentioned 😱
I hope wilds expansion gives us white fatalis or something similarly peak
i mean it doesnt need to be a fatalis i just hope we get a "fight that hard thats justifiable with the tier of the creature in question"
It wasn’t that bad tbh
A lot of people hype it up, so it can’t really live up to it
I struggled against ’em
speaking of that I will give smough and ornstein credit for one thing, they do move as one entity which is great game design
and they backpeddaled that with double encounters in elden ring
godskin duo have no such programming
Also, NG4 isn’t that hard
1 is just straight up bull 💩 not even hard, just unfair
and thats exactly why they are a nightmare
Welcome to Watchmojo, and today we’re counting down the top 10 hardest video game boss fights…
They didn't understand why mechanics worked like they did when Itagaki was designing them
It’s so far my favorite tbh
Way better than 1
Now I gotta play 2 and 3
I only beat the first boss of 2, but it wasn’t too bad at the start
thinking of ninja gaiden made me think of stylish action which brought dmc to my mind which made me think "if only we could get a kamiya developed dmc6" which reminded me his studio is making okami 2
NG and DMC kinda have opposite philosophies
I’d rather they start remaking DMC
DMC wants you to be stylish, NG wants you to be as effective as possible
true.~
I just was trying to explain my thought process to bring up okami 2 being a real thing thats actually going to happen
which is interesting to see since its so strange that its gonna happen at all
its so weird that it slips my mind it even is reality
Or Onimusha returning
After literally 20 years
We live in a strange times of most unexpected returns of long frozen franchises
time is a flat circle.~
Too bad some of my favourite series won't likely get that treatment
that would be interesting.~
Like Shadow Hearts, Xenosaga, Wild Arms
Shadow Hearts
many gems of the wild west just werent proftiable enough despite their quality
like klonoa
Also I always regretted that Metal Max series didn't really release outside of japan
Besides like 2 or 3 games out of a bunch
I plan to play them some time in the future to train my japanese
I really need to start playing stuff in japanese more
you never know what will happen in the future really, always remember that monster hunter world is really monster hunter 5 and for over a decade it was a barely marketed not marketed just localized and dropped on shelves outside japan series that was so niche that people barely talked about it
Oh I know very well that Monster Hunter truly started existing in the west with World
And before it, it was a series for crazy people basically here
I started with Freedom Unite
I still don't know how I survived those terrible psp controlls
In hindsight
I surely wouldn't play it again this way
mh1 on ps2 is super interesting in the regard of awful controls because you attacked with the camera stick
needless to say I play that game an "alternative" way
the old mh games are an experience mh2 on ps2 is infamous for its difficulty
45 min hunt with good gear against a tigrex
I surely wouldn't be able to experience online in mh1 back in the day
As I didn't even have internet back then
it is neat to see the remains of old multiplayer systems they had a lot of character
Especially when people were larping
mh4u and 3u multiplayer scenes were still alive natively when I played them
Some chat exchages I had in character in other games were pretty fun
I liked to play like a cave man. You know "ME GO KILL MONSTER" in chat and such
I have always been myself in things as boring as that may sound.~ but im sure that's fun ❤️
I guess I carried that roleplaying spirit on as I also play tabletop rpgs
Since covid started
I have never really had the pleasure of enjoying tabletop stuff, I don't really have much to say on the topic since i've never really gone into it, I have been interested occassionally though.~
For me it was pretty accidental. Some people in one gaming oriented server I'm in proposed he can gm some Vampire The Masquerade. I played the Bloodlines game so I got interested and the rest is history
I know a friend who is on a crusade to drag me into a dnd session, so perhaps the same may occur
Also two years ago I found there are ttrpgs meetups in my city every month so I'm also going to those
Good opportunity to try out different systems
I wouldn't normally play with my group
And also live sessions really do feel completely different than playing online
I lock in more face to face than online
i'll definitely have to atleast give it a try once eventually.~
I will always tell people to at least try it to see if they like it because it's the type of experience you can't quantify without participation
In the end I went different way. I indeed started with D&D but then I found I like story driven systems more
So now my group mainly plays World of Darkness systems like Vampire The Masquerade, Mage The Ascension, Hunter The Reckoning, Werewolf The Apocalypse
Because everyone found out they like less mechanically heavy systems and more story/character driven
There is a joke in a community that I kinda find true empirically
"You either become D&D head for the rest of your life or move on to literally every other system and never come back"

Because people either like the restrictive nature of D&D mechanics and don't feel the need to play anything else or literally move on to other systems because they want more freedom
Both ways are valid of course
That's just a general observation in the community
i'll have to find out for myself if I ever get into it.~ ❤️ it sounds interesting, didn't know there was more depth or systems but to be fair I don't really know anything about any form of the system.~
D&D is just good for beginners because it basically established framework for TTRPGs, has simple enough rule to understand and the setting doesn't need explaining because who doesn't know what an Elf or Ogre is
Like I wouldn't for example give a group of complete beginners Vampire The Masquerade with no knowledge of the universe because there's more baseline knowledge to be acquired to understand how the setting works (you're basically playing as Vampires with their own mafia families in modern settings that keep up the Masquerade so humanity doesn't find out about them) this system is more freeform in its rules and allows for more creativity with character choices but are not as readily apparent
Makes sense.~ Well thank you for the information. ❤️ I have never heard of the ones beyond dnd so it's neat to know about. Aside from that i'm going to go cook and do some other things, it was fun chatting with everyone see you all later.~

Calling in the Super Destroyer in the new commando missions literally uses the Konami code
You cannot make this shit up
I mean it's so widespread historically that its inclusion doesn't seem that crazy tbh
Gundam my beloved ❤️
yeah why not
#diluc #genshinimpact #dottore
You can't go throwing explosives left and right, calling support weapons whenever you please
You drop in, you have a single minute to drop in everything you need and the ship leaves orbit
You get a single use to call it back in for whenever you really need it
No, as in, stratagem inputs are only arrows
Your helldiver is swiping those inputs on a wrist pad
We ready
Seeing people with more than one 6* and one of them being Surtr makes a "BROKE BITCH ALERT" alarm sound in my head
I only got Last Rite from the beginner banner from my last 10 pull on it
I got a dupe!
your name is growing ever longer
I have like 2 ten pulls and no hope
I wasted thirty pulls on chartered headhunters
Gonna grind to 120
Then again
I do want Yvonne
u need to expend five night at freddys
oh thats ok, can i bring my sister to location
yeah thats ok, but don't be missundesturd, this is not a pizzaria simulator.
thats ok (i forgot the rest)
i like mommies how did you know

would be so funny if the income was gatekept so hard that even if you explore all areas 100%, at the last day of banner you'll still be short pulls for 120
cuz that's how i see this going
@neon tiger only on level 18 btw
I see people and they’re like on level 34 and I’m like whaaa
you could have just saved the 10 pull we got through mail today for the next character or smth
Unemployment.
And lack of sleep
someone on my friend list at 42 already
With all these organizations, you’d think we’d finally have a final chapter.
But the chapter’s ads of “help wanted” really are persuasive in a low employment environment
Although given their recent security breach, I’m surprised people are still investing in their stocks
And that they haven’t reached their ruin
Someone calc’d it to be like 200 pulls
But uh…that is if you get everything, which is like
140 chests in a region? Yikes
At my luck I’m not even gonna stay in the is game for a month
I’m about to rage quit
just set the factory to make items for you, spend stamina and come back next day
you need lv25 just to finish chapter 1
I haven’t even finished story :ohno:

yeah then don't worry about it
no matter how hard you grind you'll still be playing the waiting game
I’m so slow at playing games, by the time I’ve caught up next patch will drop
as much as i would like to play all day like a neet, having to work night shifts everyday has been frustrating since i can't progress on my gachas

still considering what i should buy next month with the double paycheck
Buy happiness
out of budget
needs to fit the minimal wage range
looking into a deal to see if i can get me a ps5 from a friend
it's all automated into the deposit, i wouldn't have made it past the first day if i had to manyal every XX hours
I know but i actually like it
Making the new mining equipment by grinding out the mats to build them then start getting the new stuff
I think its rewarding
After 3 steps on the Kenpachi Linage Summons, I finally got Ginjo
I got saved by Piper once again
she carried the middle team
Vivian and Yanagi didn’t work there, but Piper did
max stamina in endfield seems to cap out at 300
wow i can already fight lv80 domains and bosses

only just managed to put two people on lv50 imagine fighting these now
@arctic lodge (hope ur doing good)
I got da astra wengine!
omg hi sista

hows arknights
triple elec resist during sanby rerun is insane
triple physical + double fire is also kinda odd
it's ok, factory is carring the game
tho income is awful
o
people aren't even sure they'll make it to 120 pulls before first limited banner ends
they mixed 50/50 with spark
60 pulls gives guaranteed 6 star but uprate is 50/50
uprate is guaranteed at 120 iirc
to 'spark' the uprate you need another 60 if you lose the 50
the pity carries over yeah but the guarantee is only at 120 pulls
said guarantee doesn't carry over, only pity does

so if you pull 119 times and don't get the unit, if you don't spark it, you have pity for the next banner but the spark gets erased
thats insane
they really gatekept the gacha resource so people are obligated to explore just to hit guaranteed
but if you ignore the gacha, the game is okayish, factory is what's carrying it
after reading what endfield gacha is like
it makes stellasora more tame despite the 3000 a pull
endfield makes any other gacha look generous in comparison
fgo dinosaurs do not concern themselves with 330 pulls for one pity
today's the 3rd day and i have like 28 pulls
and i'm caught up with the story as far as my acc level allows

releasing a worse gacha than every other big gacha is definitely a choice
How much did you play

I played a lot and im barely in the originium science park area
honestly arknights gacha from OG game and endfield are just really bad
next story needs lv30 for me
also unlocked levi character story
or whatever its called in here
they could just make it so the 120 doesnt reset and itd be fine unless income is really bad
I got a semblance of a factory setup though
one thing is certain, you definitely don't play endfield for the gacha
cuz you won't have any pulls anyway

120? Whats 120 from
guarantee for rate up apparently
the spark
they sure want people to spend all their time in the game as long as possible
Oh for rate up
i don't worry about it since i don't plan on getting the first limited unit but people who have been pulling every 200 currency are coping so hard rn
i feel like i'll be going for at least the first month solely for the factory being engaging
I havent payed attention to story at all but the open world and combat i actually enjoy
I like the team being with you
their dynamic is really smooth, they walk or run besides you, pick up most items, as well as position themselves towards story objectives, or stay besides treasure chests nearby so you notice them
you actually feel like you have a party during adventuring
if you move behind a cover to avoid a nuke, they all run together to hide behind it with you
I dont have to tag people in, its total chaos and i love it
accidentally changed endmin gender to male
If you calculate, outside of finite things like exploration, endfield gives just as many pulls per day as wuwa and genshin
i feel like endfield is 90% factory, 8% exploration, 1% gacha
make it 99 factory, 1% exploration
gacha doesn't exist

even endgame gear requires factory stuff to upgrade base gear
minmaxer completionist is gonna have a field day with this
I have barely touched factory

Im rank 26 rn
i spent most of my time in factory plots
just build the basic stuff like batteries and stuff for bombs since those keep the factory functioning, and bombs for exploring
you get blueprints that expedite all the chore of setting buildings down one by one
then you can farm bills later once you're actually making products that sell
also craft a lot of relay pillars, you'll be putting down a lot of them just to get one mining rig setup done in some far off places
Wowie you're getting there!!
Also sorry my Internet is dead for...reasons...its barely holding out so I can't have proper conversations and I'd like to apologise in advance
Ayyayyy
I hope whatever’s going on, i hope you’re doing okay
Yea I'm all good!
But yeah i got me an astra and her engine to support my account…and holy crap lighter feels SO MUCH better
Already put a fuckton down
Send blueprints pls
I love how i can move with the connection and fight enemies
Beat their ass and place down another pillar
Should have been a character

Did you see this already?
https://www.reddit.com/r/Endfield/s/Xfe23OzHIf
One for jane and one for alice!
No jane
One for piper and one for alice!
Yea
LMFAO MC ON THE ZIPLINE
i should set the duo ziplines later to travel between gather spots
gonna save my life having to only two tap lines once a day when gather spots are full
Chen doesn't have much synergy, but good enough
- Synergy doesn’t matter at this point
- She does alot of damage

unlocked what seems to be the equivalent of simulated universe
you get kicked out after the derangement caps
and you need to explore and pick up things to upgrade your exploration aid
aberrant valley is the name
I have my two teams that i swap between as i feel
They're both great
Im running out of mats though, too many characters being built
@novel sluice @primal kestrel
5 pity....I found 10 cards in the mail....
I still got 2 tickets
memes could never
Not if it’s Honkai impact!
ok SS HTR with no weapon
That proved my luck tbh

Also it’s been like four years since that happened
that proves your lack of wisdom
yeah that aint happening rn
