@shy terrace Although it does some users may be set to busy, or simply have pings (not DMs) from the server disabled. Having it send a DM allows it to not only exchange more information but also makes the message much easier to spot, not to mention that if the bot becomes a cross-server thing it'd make life much easier. Currently looking into how I'd do it myself since well I needed an excuse to pick up some coding again. ^^;

We decided to change our roles to region color roles because we found a lot of ranking shaming happening in the server. Remind you it was a server wide vote. It's not irrelevant considering they are region roles pertaining to League of Legends champions. @fresh edge

And also exp is reset upon being banned because exp unlocks things for members of the community who have been good and havent caused anything. And vanity roles are not permitted for banned people because they are for active community members who have also been clear

Hello! At a certain level you can change your own nickname, this is to prevent spam nicknames and demeaning ones, you can ask for a name change via @nocturne plover by dming the bot though if you do not have the level to change it yourself.

I don't feel as if the "Community Representative" role if it were to ever exist should be a role that should be obtained via level and moreso an application. I feel like levels are not indicative on the status of a user and how much of a positive impact they have had on the server, and moreso reflective on how much time they have spent in the server
(which is not a bad thing in most cases but I don't know if we can really give a title such as big as a community rep to someone who is just active)

I know multiple users in mind that would be an amazing fit for a role like that but they are not in exp range. In addition to the level 75 idea, I don't think it's anything moderators can't do ourselves. Moderators interact with the community a lot and if we would like to get opinions on the punishment system, or events we can always poll it or we can pullroom respected users inside of the community to see their thoughts on the punishment system. I feel like adding a "middle man" would

In terms of streaming perms, i'm not too sure what streaming perms are (I believe level 50 but I could be wrong). And now on the idea of a "Giveaway" channel. I am not too fond of a giveaway channel especially if it is not Riot Hosted or Hosted by Admins/Moderators. The issue with player hosted giveaway channels is that it's very hard to secure if people are actually gifted their rewards, and also I doubt the channel would get used much if at all.

@mortal nymph We have lives outside of discord, we try to check ModMail regularly but this is a volunteer job where moderators have their own hobbies and cannot be on discord every second waiting for a new ModMail case to appear, if you've had a ModMail case in the past responded to late my apologies but most cases besides vc cases(even then you can record) and extreme cases need immediate help with. Other cases most likely do not need instant help.

There are currently server issues with huge public servers. You may have difficulties joining VC. If you're unable to, try doing CTRL+R. If that does not work, try doing ALT+F4 on Discord and launching it again.

@late dawn My apologies. As for such bots, I don't feel like it is that necessary on the Discord for the main purpose that a lot of people simply use extensions or websites. If it may be hard for you to use those as your computer isn't strong enough, I advise you to put it on one of your servers yourself. It isn't in high necessary here as we try to limit our bots.

and its been made a lot easier recently. sure it might take a bit still, but that's what makes those "rewards" worth it. you dont want just anyone to be able to stream. so only the people who are in here a lot and interacting with everyone are allowed.

I understand what you mean by that. Though when we have servers like #703343714730508309 , it means we endorse them as our moderation teams are the same. I understand the point of a channel to post communities under, though, as we don't share any part in the moderation team or even in the same way of having our rules set, we can't really have them here. To avoid having other servers who may be problematic on their end and having complaints, we mainly keep ourselves with other Riot servers in which the same rules apply. Also, this server and other ones are owned by Riot overall.

@coarse stone big thing about having such roles is that it clogs up the role list for admins to manage. There is also a role limit on Discord and with 150+ champions, it's quite a lot. We generally limit ourselves to roles to be a little clearer on it. I like the idea, though it's a LOT of roles. Generally someone with ranked roles, you can generally search them up using OriannaBot and doing *@*OriannaBot profile DISCORDMEMBERID by example for someone who has it linked, it would be *@*OriannaBot profile 163492508511371274 for our admin Steven by instance and you can check what they play from there 🙂

Like Beginning said, we have tried for the longest time to not have a meme channel but #⬫┆regulars-hangout we let it slide for non offensive memes. We have thought about cracking down on it and we might if more inappropriate jokes arises in the channel. Most of their feedback method is by using Reddit/Twitter threads to make it work. Sadly enough, Twitter replies are mostly big when you're popular. Reddit, you can get upvotes by anyone with the same opinion as you but it has to go big otherwise they don't generally look at it as much. Rioters mainly use this Discord to chill and talk to people rather than have people giving Feedback. One big thing though is that the TFT server had Mortdog checking feedback on the Set 4 for TFT on the Discord. Sadly, we'd need a Rioter from the design team here that would take all of the feedback... which we don't have one taking it entirely in a text channel sadly.

Yeah, I can understand that resources have been tight with Covid and such. But using Reddit and Twitter as feedback points was a really awful decision overall. I hope they make efforts in the future to hear all players concerns, whether they be unpopular or not. As a long time player, who has poured my life into this game it really frustrates me that I can't be heard.

The official league forums which closed used to have a subsection for mini-orgs/ close-knit gaming clans to advertise. Bigger than a team, smaller than a mega server like this, they are usually what I look for when I'm LFG, not teams. I was wondering if a place for them to be advertised could be added here since this discord and various reddits were the reasons those forums lost traffic and can no longer help these groups be found. With an extremely long "slowmode" enabled, it shouldn't need to be modded all that much, I think. I understand that advertising is obnoxious, but, if posted in the right place, I would like to see what groups are out there. As this server is a HUB, the official league discord, I don't see how it could be threatened by allowing orgs/ gaming clans to have a place to plug like they did on the now-closed forums.

You also need to follow a bunch of guidelines written under the place where you make your post or your post gets deleted. I.E. don't be there to just complain, bring up good points and things that can help. They kill non-spot bash posts since they're useless and don't contribute to anything.

Generally please use #⬫┆general-questions for such questions but I don't mind answering <3. The server is in Chicago, so generally the connection is good. The only times where you'd connect to the server in the west would be in TFT at times as this game mode uses both servers as it is not ping intensive.

The main argument with adding PH role is that the amount of players we get from it are minimal as most of them do speak Tagalog. As much as I appreciate having everyone from any server accepted and welcomed, having roles for a region which we have a minor amount of member is quite different. Though I do see the argument for it.

As for streaming perms being 50+. With the minimal amount of users we have with it, I feel like that's something that can be taken into consideration, I'll bring it up.

Hello, I have some feedback. I mostly come on this server when I want to answer League related questions, as this is the most active place for that sort of thing, even more than the summonerschool Discord! One thing I've noticed is that the #⬫┆new-players channel is often used like how I'd imagine #⬫┆general is. I think there should be some kind of control over there, as it is the designated place for new players to go and get answers.

Why is it that when you get banned your level is set to 0 but the exp you have to get doesn't reset with it
Example: Banned, Beemo level 0, exp required is like from like 10-11 to go from 0-1 if that makes sense

So I was level 10, got banned for a day and had my level reset to 0. Since then I have noticed my leveling has been incredibly slow, as if I was level 0 but needing the xp of a level 10 user

It's taken me 1 and a half weeks to go from level 2 to 3, whereas when I first joined I went from 0 to 5 in 4 days

Currently, you cannot change your nickname yourself until you reach a certain level in the server. This permission has been subject to abuse in the past -- this is our current system that we have in place to counteract that while still trying to give users agency.

MEME BOARD

We have no memes channel at the moment because typically meme channels are the prime place for people to post offensive or borderline content. This creates even more of a strain on our staff for a server that already has several text channels that require active moderation. A lot of big videogames servers that have a meme channel are generally filled with darker humor or jokes that are in very poor taste. The amount of inappropriate and bad behavior that comes along with adding a meme channel simply makes the risk not worth the reward.

We do typically have some leniency on this, especially with #⬫┆regulars-hangout -- but generally we do not allow memes to be posted for these reasons, nor do we have a dedicated channel for it.

Rant Room

This is another idea that we've tried in the past. It's certainly helpful for people to throw our their feelings and walk away -- though unfortunately, this started to have the opposite effect. Members complained about being frustrated that the only option to them was to yell into what is essentially an empty void.

A rant room has pros and cons, but after reworking the server, we haven't decided to implement that quite yet as it didn't prove incredibly useful in the past.

Hi, There's a product Riot recently released that greatly advances the lore and storyline of league. However it is restricted behind a pricetag for complete viewing. (The Demacia Novella). There's a TLDR that has been made, can a mod pin it to the #⬫┆lore-discussion channel so that those who are unable to purchase the novella can get a general idea of the storyline and the advancements it provides?

Comics and previous stories can be viewed online for free. Not everyone is able to access content gated by an online pricetag. Doesn't mean they should be discluded from discussions cuz of that, and providing a concise TLDR wouldn't detract from the value of purchasing the actual book (might even promote trying to get it to see how the events unfolded)
And sure, they can go to another youtuber and invest ~20 mins trying to understand what's going on, or they can read a concise TLDR that touches on all the important parts objectively without muddying up points and theories.
This is a TLDR that has been peer reviewed thus doesn't have subjective biases, it presents what was given at face value.

If the reason for the compendium being posted is "People discuss it often" That's because 1) it's far from new, 2) it's one of the things that is posted, thus is more easily made reference to when checking the pins.

To further add upon what was said, it's a piece of medium that's longer than anything else that's been released, one that isn't on Universe so some might not be aware of it (since nothing is done to tell people that something new has been released.)
By refusing to pin relevant info or disseminate it, you perpetuate a self fulfilling prophecy.
Today alone shows people who have become interested in lore and want to know about accessing info.

The book is almost a month old, but still new, so I understand an "embargo" of sorts, but after a time has passed, discussion about said content should be able to be freely held as they would pertain to future stories, as well as would give context towards existing info.

Is there a reason for that? The tldr was seen and a guideline for how it be pinned was given (i.e. put it behind a spoiler and say that it’s a TLDR of the book) which I’d already done. The concern about “marketing violations” is cleared. The concern about it being a “spoiler” is handled and permission given by a higher authority.
Is there a reason beyond “stubbornness”? Is it deemed that the lore community is irrelevant in the ongoings of the discord server?

But it's not just that now is it. Other things I've presented that would appeal to the lore community, that isn't made by me btw, have been similarly shut down on the basis of it not having as much activity as other channels, not having as much relevance and being of little concern.
It was even said that it would be a hassle to dedicate more mod attention to said channel (which wouldnt've changed much of anything.)

The sentiment has been "who would care to use it", a response that begets "irrelevance".

I'd asked what was the reason behind it considering it has been sanctioned by rioters and the concerns addressed, so wanted to know what the reasons were that would make that decision stay. And I'd hope it's not something like "stubbornness" or it being a hassle, as the hoops have already been jumped.

The very least that could be done is pinning the link to purchase the book, since it’s not on universe, which would not “work against the marketing of a product” Neverminding that the tldr was permitted by the same people behind the publishing of the actual content.
