with such a long break, over multiple seasons, the mmr system has changed a bit. the system places you against easier opponents and graduately increases their skill to test where you belong. also with introduction of emerald the whole elo has shifted a bit towards diamond, (S1 players usually hit G3 now as example)

the mmr system is actually kind of balanced till like diamond. it tries to match you against harder opponents if youre above 50%wr and against easier ones if youre below 50%. if you keep losing games while under 50% the system thinks youre out of your league and takes more LP than you gain. and how to fix it is easy, just win
