So ive played chef a decent bit i dont know if its just the way i play or not
it just feels like chef themself deals less DPS overall even with the oil explosions
the cooking mechanic feels like a remade verison of the drifters bag
the secend helping feels like a one time use miner rage every now and again
allthough it could just be a skill issue

I have to disagree with both of you, as a Chef connoisseur he feels perfectly fine. His cleavers already do an absurd amount of damage as they can hit and enemy up to 3 times (1 forwards, 1 at the tip, 1 on the way back) for an astounding 300% damage off of a single shot. Glazed & Sear combo still does a LOT of damage and provides an extreme amount of knockback for keeping your distance. Second Helping's buffs are all used for different things, Marinate is just for traversal, Blaze is your main burst damage, and Mince is for bosses or pesky air enemies. I haven't toyed around with any of the alternate abilities very much and while Cook does gimmicky I think the worst part of the skill is that it CANNOT crit. Why? Afraid I'll occasionally do 6x160% damage? I already do 9x100% on Mince without crits!

As i said skill issue on my end

#

but the alternate primary does deal not the greatest damage

Yeah little skill issue, haven't tried the new primary outside of the trial but it does seem lacking in comparison to cleave

substandard duplicator should give him more stacks of his food items and not just extend the timer

chef is busted i love that guy :)

#

He's weaker than in ror1
He does not need a buff though lmao

#

(Fun fact he was stronger there because he was literally broken)

#

They have since fixed the
Incident

#

The bug was basically
He spawned a hitbox for every monster his cleaver hit

#

It was as big as brilliant behemoth

#

This meant
You stacked monsters on top of eachother
And every monster got hit for the number of monsters in that stack

#

Frost relic
Also did this.

#

And that's why it was extraordinarily overpowered in ror1

karmic venture
#

But jesus fucking christ they could've done literally anything else

#

And for some reason
Sawmerang didn't have that problem

#

Despite fufilling every requirement (aka be a piercing projectile (Projectile(not hitscan)))

#

They had the tech
They didn't do it
They did not do it

#

My face was priceless when I found out that was a feature

#

Well maybe not feature
But intentionally programmed

He doesn't seem that much weaker than in ror1 and he was BUSTED in that game. Hitting an enemy with all 8 cleavers does huge damage, shreds magma worms, and he has good knockback with sear. Alt utility allows you to move at full speed while using primary if that's your biggest problem, and you can take it with default special to cover more ground at once

After playing with CHEF's new Cook ability for a bit I've found that the temporary items last a little too short. They last 30 seconds which feels slightly not long enough, I'd like to see 45 seconds as I feel that would allow enough time to get from one fight to another. Additionally, I feel that larger enemies should drop more items when cooked, large enemies drop 2 items when cooked, boss enemies drop 3 items when cooked. The ability feels very fun to use but the short duration of the meals makes me a bit iffy on it.

#

Also the no crit part on the ability doesn't have a reason to be there

#

the only thing im really sad about at all is just that substandard duplicator doesnt work on items from cook

modern holly
#

im just really ticked off by the fact that the "food" items are for some reason decaying the entire stack instead of 1 by 1 like other temporary items

#

like god damn i did not just stack an entire teleporter event worth of items just for them to disappear by the time i enter next stage

#

like yea you can use cook decently often but you would lose a lot of stacked food items consistently anyway cause you would need good rng to get specifically the items that are about to expire every time
