The way you win is to not lose basically
If you never die you win by default through a war of attrition
If you have more hp and more methods of reducing damage intake by dodging blocking hits or reducing damage it becomes harder to lose and hp becomes a resource you can spend to make progress a bit more quickly instead of protecting every point you have since your life depends on having some left
