I've been playing with a few mods, namely increased enemy spawn speed and variants, but are the larger mod packs valuable to install? Comparable to something like an Issac overhaul or something like terraria Thorium?
(not nessecarily including bosses, of course)
biggest you can go is gathering all the enemy/character/item mods you can found

RiskyMod as a whole is just full of unneeded changes)
Honestly, if they hadn't touched the survivors it would be fine, even with some of the item changes being questionable

Ancient Wisp, Clay Men, and TitansOfTheRift also add new enemies
I can't say endgame directly, but post loop in TitansoftheRift, you get some hard hitting enemies that can basically two to three shot ya

Engie's primary is decent, but you're not meant to rely on it so it's intentionally clunky
Engineer intentionally has a lackluster primary because his other skills are all verry good
3 of his skills are high damage and auto aim so yeah

He's not too difficult if you keep constant pressure on him, ranged or melee, with or without items.
Just need to keep a steady stream of damage to make sure his natural passive regen doesn't stack with the "out of combat" regen as well
The issue for me is that if you try to do void fields to make up for lost time you will almost assuredly get obliterated by him on the next stage
The buffs do not stack with themselves. Which is why you can only purchase one of a buff type, and why it only pulls from one person (the teleporter activator)
How can i figure out(besides trial and error) which mod causes all projectiles/animations to break on certain item pickups? My BepInEx gets flooded with red error messages but i can't really see which mod they are coming from. Anyone knows which mods could cause this behaviour?

The earlier you get nemforcer, the quicker he dies. Idk what happened from the recent enforcer times, but while he's still as bulky, I've gotten him to have low HP for a boss (Stage 4 typhoon landed me a 4k hp Nemforcer one day, and he just got two shot by a couple equipment uses)
When you're fighting Nemforcer, especially now, his gun moves slow since AI doesn't update as fast as the player can with the gun movement, so feel free to use even Huntress to gimp that and/or kite then use band Ballista as a tactic, just keep a glaive and m1 in between to negate his slug or medkit and regen if he has any outside of his passive.
One thing to also keep in note is that you can bait some of his attacks, cancelling out the momentum of his fire rate for a small bit if needed, or force him to swap back to melee.

Me and my friend play both of those and don't have any band issues at all. May be another mod, and yeah, Chef doesn't do well trying to proc bands without any outer form of boost, whether it be atg or otherwise

best way to receive help is with the log + reciting exactly what was going on at the time
A full log is way more useful for finding what your mod problem is.
If you are using r2modman or Thunderstore Mod Manager:
You can copy your log by going to the Settings screen, selecting the Debugging tab and clicking Copy LogOutput.log to clipboard
And paste it in this channel or paste it in the notepad and send the notepad in the channel.
If you have manual install:
You can find such log file in your Risk of Rain 2/BepInEx/ folder, the file is called LogOutput.log.
Drag the file in this channel so that other users can help you.

There are certain mods that affect certain items, but I do not know of one that allows you to configure them all, besides ItemTierSelection which allows you to change the tier of every item in the game, including modded ones.
This mod also let's you disable items and equipment.

the modded survivor ninja is pretty cool but op
yeah I played Merc too, but one of my friends is a merc main and I like having variety
I have the mastery skin for every survivor except Artificer
red mist might be up your alley, but she's also op
tried red mist and wasn't a big fan of the weird movement while attacking
it just felt off
I tend to lean more towards the "tank" playstyle anyway
so another reason why I shy away from Merc/Red Mist
Merc and Red Mist are "tanky", but not really dedicated tanks

haven't tried Lunar Shards yet...
All are good
I personally prefer Lunar Shards since it's good DPS, procs, and is agile and doesn't break sword swinging, plus being a reliable ranged tool
Slash is decent mobility and great damage output
Sunlight Spear is good ranged burst, and can be used to empower yourself
Paladin is the biggest case of "Use whatever the hell you want, it's all pretty good"
and works with cruel sun

In case you don't know how, go into the setting in R2modman, then locations, browse profile folder, open the BepInEx folder and LogOutput.Log should be there waiting for you.

Some mods don't need the other players to have them installed, or even running modded
Anything tagged client-side will work without others needing a modded client at all, since these mods only work on, well, the client
Skin mods will work so long as you have UnmoddedVersion installed (though UnmoddedVersion won't be necessary if playing with modded clients), though others won't be able to see the skin if they don't have it installed as well
Mods tagged as server-side will need UnmoddedVersion iirc, but connecting clients won't need to install it or even be running modded, as server-side mods only require the host of the game to have it

Can someone help me try to install a mod? I’m not a pc person I’m getting roadblocked here I’ve never really done this before. I was able to get on thunderstore, enabled some mods and when I click “start modded” it mostly just doesn’t load past the intro then crashes, or my controller can’t connect and I just can’t get it to work. I’m definitely doing something wrong.

Not everyone gets motion sick in VR for sure. I know I don't. But yes, it is not a good idea to play the mod if you are new to VR or you know you sometimes get motion sick.

The simple answer is, the cracked version people run is the exact anniversary update, two weeks later the modding update came about. It's not even "not wanting" to support, it's quite a bit of effort to do so

Just some of the things I saw: when a debuff would be applied a random buff or debuff would take its place. Nemmando's gouge would apply Blighted elite buff to enemies for example. Enemies wouldn't die, just turn into T-posing ghosts that could still attack you. Tinkering elites were unharmable. Clients would stay alive after death.
I don't even know if it's just SS2 nightly and WolfoQoL conflicting, but when WolfoQoL was removed from the modpack the game became playable again.
And again, only in multiplayer.
I guess sending the modpack wouldn't be helpful in that case
No I run a lot of mods. It'd take some more testing on my part to narrow it down.
I don't play a lot of multiplayer but I never had issues so it's hard to determine if it's networking without the log
There were clear messages about the server having problems applying buffs to the client. Given how much stuff your mod does with the custom buffs it didn't surprise me.

The idea I that when something goes wrong in the game there will clearly be an error message. And if you follow the log you posted you can see a few errors pop up when you entered the character select screen. But none of them mention SS2 nightly at all.

usually the first thing mentioned after a null ref is the cause but here it says something ror2 just uses so it'd need to be something else
