hello does anyone know why I can't play modded multiplayer. I ran the game through r2modman and imported Race's mods so I can use the quality mod and other QOL mods. My friend did the exact same thing and he is able to click multiplayer and invite me but I can't join.

You could use the mod manager to build the mod list then just copy the bepinex folder from it into the game directory if you really have to

99% of mods dont disable unlocks and achievements

yeahโlarger content mods/survivor mods will sometimes lock behind custom requirements but they never interfere with vanilla progression
could be that you remembered unlocking a modded survivor
could also be that the progress is split across two profiles

A friend dragged me into modded RoR2 within the first few hours when I was new, so a good chunk of my playing's been modded. Only recently reverted to vanilla when introducing a friend to it, and wanting to "properly unlock some stuff, so I don't have to re-unlock it again if I go unmodded later"

Yeah unlocks work perfectly fine switching between modded and vanilla. In fact unless the mods change their unlocks internally they'll persist even when disabled and re-enabled later

@gilded mirage so artifact of revolution is good with some of what it does but I don't know that it fully suits my needs- I can't control what tiers or vary specifically how many items per stage like if i want it to be more on one and less after, and i can't give enemies specific items. also I can't control the blacklist which means kampener and eclipse lite are in the pool still ๐

Check on the mod managers settings > locations > change risk of rain 2 location that it's actually pointed towards the current install and not a path that looks correct

Mods + consoles is a lot harder than it might look at first. Consoles are running potentially different versions of the game, but more than that they are using a totally different runtime, all our tricks that let us edit the game code really don't apply at all to them so it would be starting from scratch.

but you cannot upload commando's files from the game with those things changed

There are essentially two ways to mod: 1 is making edits to the game files directly and then sharing the entire thing. That is the one that isn't allowed.
The other way is basically making a list of the things that you changed, and having a modloader that applies the changes automatically. This is how we currently do things.
That said, I don't really think uploading mod files here is the best idea anyway, since thunderstore literally exists for that purpose.

would a color blind mod be hard to implement into risk 2?
Yes and no
I could make one, I just need to investigate it a bit further. Would also need people who are colorblind that can test it.

depends on the level of 'colorblind mode' you try to achieve i guess
like making a colorblind mode where only very specific colors, like aoe indicators, item rarity, elite colors, etc are changed, thats pretty feasible
although it might require liking these colors up to, like, some sort of Color System that allows them to be changed dynamically, which is no simple feat; or it could be turned inside out, and have this Color System hook into every single color of interest to change them dynamically
just throwin out ideas of course, i dont really know how a colorblind system would work best
Well depends on the needs. In theory I could just make a post process shader that does the appropriate mappings on the final image.

most content mods wont work properly at all unless everyone has the mod installed
like, as the host you can see that miner works for you, but none of the clients wouldve seen that
the only exception to content mods breaking are mods that only make unavailable content available
so the vanilla bandit option from bandit reloaded for example, everyone has "vanilla bandit" in their game but they cant access it, so by using banditreloaded's vanilla bandit, its simply making it easier for you to access it
For the people talking about modding in a color blind mode, if you need some feedback or testing, I am color blind and have some feedback. Like item outlines and aoe warnings

Modding is extremely stable atm. Most of the major obstacles are completely solved and there is a great api (I'm totally not biased towards it)

To play Bandit, you pretty much need to be able to consistently pull off cooldown resets with R and cycle your skills to keep up M1 uptime. When played well, you can pretty much cruise through the first 3 stages while staying invisible for most of the time due to constantly having weak enemies to get easy cooldown resets off of.
Some tricks:
- Combine shift + M2 to apply a debuff and stun enemies, allowing you to deal huge burst damage with R (since its damage increases with each unique debuff the enemy has, including stun)
- You can use your invisibility to stall and wait for your other skills to come off of cooldown
- You can use Lights Out to 1shot wisps for the first 4 stages, and you can instakill elite wisps by using Lights Out's knockback at all points in the game. They're pretty much floating cooldown reset balls.
- When your invis is on cooldown, your #1 priority should be to find something you can easily kill with R to reset your cooldowns since you're really squishy.
Does skills++ not work with multitudes? Im not sure if it was the multitudes or the fact i was running metamorphosis but not only did the skill points i specced not seem to make any difference at all, my skill points literally doubled every stage and at stage 4 i was only level 30 but i had well over 100 skill points to spec and trying to spec them all straight up crashed the game

they were in the game at one point, but were either scrapped or might be added in the future

I just can't really picture scrapping a design as fun as Sniper tbh, the only difficulty I could think of with her is that she seems difficult to balance compared to all the other characters
but then, Mercenary exists who I also think seems very difficult to balance so that reason is a bit out the window

Yeah the modded sniper is much different than the sniper they originally found in the game assets

the reload aspect of her is what I find so fun honestly, it provides such a unique flow to playing her
every other character it feels at some point I'm just pressing buttons at everything that moves but she forces a rhythm to things
it's a really, really well designed mod even despite them having some source stuff to work with

Yeah i love sniper, in ror1 he was my favorite character and up their un my favourites for ror2
sadly I'm a pleebian who's never touched RoR1, seems like a fun game but I just probably wouldn't be able to enjoy it having started with RoR2
a friend threw me a key for the game when I mentioned I really wanted RoR2 and I played for 19 hours straight when it finished installing
risk 1 is more atmospheric the platforming is frustrating and its 2d of course
absolutely turning out to be one of my favorite games of all time and the modding is just a cherry on top
there was a cut sniper in files, but I used literally nothing from it for sniper.

I have a few of the character mods installed but not most of them because they flood the character select screen
I have the Clay Templar, Sniper, Bandit, Twitch, Enforcer, and Akali
have only played Templar, Sniper, and Akali though because I just have been having too much fun with Sniper lol
Enforcer & Bandit are pretty fun
I'd imagine they both feel the same way Sniper does in terms of fitting among the cast
considering they're both, technically, a part of the cast even if they aren't a part of the game

honestly this is such a bizarre game for me, I see so many people playing it and have for like a year, but I have never seen a single person actually just talk about the game

I hope some point down the line there's a mod made to rebalance the game under the assumption the player has the mod that'll instantly charge a portal after defeating the boss
because I really can't play without that mod but also sometimes it feels like I'm really just cheesing the game
since I end up saving almost an entire minute at every portal that should've been another minute of difficulty

yeah I have Diluvian, it's not that it's too easy it's just that the game is balanced around the time spent on stages and having something that just chops off a lot of time from the stage feels a bit cheap
even with the absolute hardest difficulty it'd still feel like I'm not really experiencing the difficulty correctly

Wisp model is hopoos, some animations are hopoos. The special and movement animations are mine.

The movement is placeholder for most part. It was the first thing I did just to smooth out the import process

You can make it work by going invisible with snipers R but yeah i usually would take quickscope
I would understand taking steady aim if it had no cooldown perhaps
but even then, Quickscope has virtually no cooldown
you'll maybe take like one or two shots between your next Quickscope
maybe make the default charge speed the same as standing still is currently, and make standing still charge it much much faster?
that way you can still charge it relatively quick while moving but it still takes a bit of time to do so
or alternatively just buff the boosts it gives your ammo type
the build I often use with her would synergize well with steady aim but still I find quickscope just more useful overall
I often go for a bunch of crit and a bunch of crowbars/armor piercing bullets with Explosive ammo
Steady aim does need a balance pass, however, my hands are tied as long as bands are as uh... strong... as they are now.
I mean idk I don't think buffing steady aim would make bands any less strong tbh

Procs scale from hit damage. Bands will always be up for a fully charged steady aim. Basically every runalds you get is a flat multiplier to the total of steady aim.
It seems to give less of a boost than wax quail

Backflip is "i hate you unity physics" the neverending saga.
I think Sniper's flip is moreso to stun and get an instant extra shot
I try to use it for mobility but often I just end up getting disoriented on where I am
I recall in the first game it seems to give a good amount of vertical boost
I end up using Decoy for mobility more than anything else tbh
if it's not a boss I usually just drop a decoy and blow it up as soon as possible to get the movement speed boost as often as possible
until I get movement speed items that is, once I have enough natural speed it's not as important
btw how does Sniper's damage work
is 600% to 900% the range for her reload boosts
like is a red 600% and a green 900% or is yellow 900% and then green is actually a boost to the damage
kk so a perfect reload doesn't technically increase damage
just the reload determines how strong the shot will be

I love the fireworks, however good or bad they may be
would love one that spits out Acid pools in an area around any interactable or something
maybe one that increases your luck/armor/whatever by a small amount for each interactable you've interacted with on that stage
I'm really not a fan of fireworks design wise. feels like it plays game for me. its only when I have it stacked so high that the barrels turn into a sort of localized damage zone that it becomes interesting.
I just like the feedback of them tbh, makes opening chests feel more flavorful

(this is getting off topic) but when I farm out red chest and get a tesla I have 3 practical options: 1, take it, get bored next stage, and restart game. 2: leave it on ground and accept wasted gold, 3: scrap and accept wasted gold.
I think capsules having equips again wouldn't be a good idea unless you're going for as accurate to ror1 as you can

I think some of the equipment is imbalanced af rn but i think the best way to have fun runs around it is to just avoid those ones like fmp

I might end up upgrading my ram if the second stimulus check comes but I'm scared because I've never actually messed with a PC before
bought this pre-built because my body's very shaky and I have confidence issues and anxiety, so I didn't want to build my own (plus the virus has raised the prices on parts and delivery)

my first pc build took me like 7 hours and it was worth it
generally laptops and pre-builts are overpriced, so building them yourself is cheaper and more satisfying

just came in with another question, for the AutoSprint mod config, how would I be to find the Character Names to have certain custom characters disabled?
I have the Lemurian character downloaded and I figured out the Laser ability has issues with the AutoSprint mod
any time you hold the laser while moving forward it'll keep battling between using the attack or sprinting
I'm just not quite sure where I'd figure out what the custom survivor's name would be in order to disable them
the lemurian mod should have it in the mod's readme but they likely dont
so youd have to ask the mod creator

the AutoSprint mod is really nice for other survivors but it really made the laser attack for Lemurian unbearable

It's not a config option anymore due to r2api changes. You gotta go to your bepinex folder, rename BanditReloaded.dll to BanditReloaded.dll.disabled, and rename BanditReloaded_vanilla.dll.disabled to BanditReloaded_vanilla.dll.
Kind of a pain in the ass to set everything up compared to just sharing a r2modman profile code.

You can bounce in the air using the M2.
Meaning you can theoretically bounce to the moon with enough alien heads and backup mags.
Bandit Reloaded is hands down the best mod character ._.

I did run into a weird glitch in multiplayer where after shield-bashing twice (backup mag) the sirens played on loop until we TPd :0

is there perhaps any way to have the siren button for Enforcer told to the player without them looking in config
I accidentally hit capslock at some point and my ears were bleeding by the time I finished the stage
because I thought it was just a bug that kept the siren blaring the entire time

it could've also been a bug because I too had backup mags out the ass to have some extra mobility
R2API and Bepin are not mod managers
Get r2modman, and when you make a profile, or use the default one, you will need to add R2API and Bepin to the profile
Just played the HAN-D beta for the first time and I had a blast. Died fighting Mithrix, but I'm glad to report that he is as good at bullying groups of enemies with OVERCLOCK and HURT as RoR1
The addition of "Springy" on FORCED_REASSEMBLY was genius, and feels real good
