At this point, it's likelier than not that having more official mod support than the cooperation and openness between the devs and modding community that already exists would flatten the modding landscape and the mods that could fit into the official support framework would be much blander, simpler things than what we have now. RoR2 mods as they currently exist are basically unsigned code, there's no way that's being embraced wholesale without clamping intense restrictions on the whole situation.

im trying to use spikestrip/zetaspects aragonite elite aspect but it wont trigger the "occasionally unleash a burst of anger on hit" i tried giving myself 100 clovers as well as getting hit, but it wont seem to activate
i spawned in an aragonite monster and the enemy lightning effect only happens on turrets and drones, not players

That varies pretty widely by taste. What kind of stuff are you looking for? New content? QoL stuff? More difficulty? Less difficulty? Vanilla friendly? Completely out of left field? Real and serious? Jokes and memes?
for starters id download everything under the team "icebr o"..,.,., from what ives hesrd they have some pret ty good mods .,..,.,,.,..,,..,.,.,..,
I just had an idea for a mod/feature that will literally solve the biggest problem I have with this game (item pool dilution) and it's simply this: every time you get an item, you have a slightly higher chance of the next item you get being an item you already have. this chance starts of very very low, but it increases the more items you have.
the downside/counterpoint to my idea: as good as this idea is, it has the side effect of making runs even more rng-based than they already are. so if you have any solution for this side effect let me know, or if you know other flaws this idea might have
hello ror2 mod chat, i have come to share what i think is a very hot take
quality mod is way too overhyped
its a neat idea that even reminds me of an idea i had for an 8th (or 9th i guess now) item rarity
but i feel like it was executed not well at all
incase people still somehow dont think trancendence is busted, it makes your minions with chirr not lose hp overtime (theyre basically immortal)
why are there 4 different quality versions of each item when they're all the same effect but stronger
it just adds needless complexity and bloats the logbook
why are the uncommon quality items usually nearly worthless when getting anything higher than that is quite rare
the varying effects of the different quality items are also a complete hit and miss with how they're handled, like who cares about giving chronobauble a chance for a bigger slow?
and its unclear how other quality items interact with having multiple qualities of the same item (i.e. bustling fungus or gasoline)
plus, i know this isn't really the fault of the mods' creators especially with how new the mod is but it ends up feeling really wrong that it doesn't support modded items
(also i feel like the 1.25x difficulty scaling multiplier was COMPLETELY unnecessary but thankfully you can modify that in config 👍 )

Is the logbook really that important? The mod's main purpose is to add a unique experience and an excitement when you get those good quality items, yeah some of them aren't amazing but they're trying to improve upon that, pretty sure some of them have placeholder effects too. Supporting modded items is kind of unrealistic as there are so many of them it would probably need over twice as much work
It feels like a small expansion upon the base game so I think it's okay
no the logbook is not that important but its still weird. i am aware what the purpose of the mod is, i just don't think it does a good job at it atm. didn't know that some of the effects were wip, so i'll probably keep a look out for that. and yes i know supporting mods is unrealistic but that doesn't make it any less annoying for me.
i moreso brought up the logbook to show my point of the fact that theres just too many damn rarities
i feel like if they aren't going to give a new effect to each rarity for each item then they shouldn't be adding more than 1 quality rarity because it just makes it confusing how they interact with other qualities unless its outright stated in their logbook entries how they interact
I can see where you're coming from and tbh they could've just made it 3 rarities instead of 5, hell even 1 would've probably been fine since each rarity does the same thing just better
(and before you say anything i know that making 4 different effects for every item in the game would be absurd. that isn't my point. my point is that if you can't do it you shouldn't.)
i personally feel like it shouldve just been 1, it could be their blue/purple variant
because i feel like the green ones are universally super underwhelming except for the ones where their quality counterparts just act like extra stacks of the non-quality version (i.e. goat hoof, syringe, etc)
Yeah I think what they're trying to do with so many rarities is to make each run feel more unique, if they changed some of the underwhelming ones it'd prob be fine

given that the base chance for an item to be quality is 1/25 i feel like they should be balanced around that
the uncommon quality items feel more like what youd get if they were 1/5

Solus heart can only be damaged by a direct hit from a skill. From what I have seen on #ror2-game-questions those reports are usually because people are playing Eclipse, where you cannot accept

anyone know why my modded game keeps crashing?
it takes forever to load and then gives me a “ror2 failed to load” message

Sanity check it with just having core stuff like bepinex, r2api and Fixplugintypes enabled and nothing else if you haven't already
If even that fails then fully close steam/end steams process and reopen it by right clicking steams exe > run as admin and then verify ror2s game files > run the game from steam in vanilla first then retry the bare minimum core mods setup again

With the mod manager you can just make a new profile and only download bepinex, r2api and such
With the verify stuff you just do as I described? I guess I did forget to say you just right click ror2 on steam > properties > installed files > verify integrity but I figured that wouldn't be too hard to find out or google in worst case lol

Is there a decent commando buff mod? I tried a commando run with the new DLC on Monsoon and couldn't stand getting constant swarmed by those guys on stage 3 as commando specifically

Hey, just wanted to drop in and ask if anyone else has experienced latency issues when hosting a 4+ player lobby. We’re using the TooManyFriends mod by Moffein to increase the player count, and what we’ve noticed is that one player starts lagging early in the menu, with the rest of the lobby experiencing lag in later stages.
I’m not sure whether this is caused by hardware limitations or by the mod itself, since it was last updated in 2024. Also, would it be better to increase the party size manually via console commands, assuming that method still works?
You don't necessarily need a mod for this, in the game there's modifiers called artifacts you get from doing trials. The artifact of command lets you choose the item you get when you pick it up. If you want items detailed descriptions, a mod like LookingGlass helps
just gotta try all the items, LookingGlass helps since you can ping stuff and get a full description

Hi! My partner is having stuttering issues + having the game freeze for a frame or two while playing with or without mods
The game will just randomly drop frames or flat out freeze while she's playing, it happens more frequently in multiplayer than in singleplayer but it still happens there as well. She has a high end pc and has tried verifying her game files, uninstalling an reinstalling the game, messing with her settings and pretty much anything else that she can think of
Would anyone whose had similiar issues have any advice or any potential leads on how to fix this?
She tried stutter stunter but it didn't end up helping, are there any other mods or potential fixes?

I keep getting a weird bug when I have the mod “E8BarrierAdjustment” where after a while all characters on the player team just stop taking damage entirely, but stuff like echos and roll of pennies will still proc. On top of that stuff like glacial explosions and overloading bombs will just go on forever

Item mods have configs generally so you can make a mod balanced to your specific tastes so I think it doesn't go in either direction tbh
sorry I didnt meant like identifying a particular mod as op.
I mean that using any mod that adds more items, is inherently op, simply because having a larger amount of different items, and therefor effects, is itself op, regardless of what those items are
The more items in the pool, the harder it can be to find really good items, or funnily enough build good synergies depending on what that synergy is
If you added like ten green items, icbm atg synergy would be harder to achieve due to green item pool increasing
It's all about how the items themselves are balanced to work within the game i feel
It's that whole thing about "every character should have at least one of everything" because as good as it is to increase your stack of attack speed, or missles, or tri tips, getting that new item that makes your attacks have another affect they apply is more useful than increasing your stack size of anything else
Some base DLC items are overpowered themselves

I know some mods work if only host has them, and some mods need host and friends to both have them to work properly but you can still play, the mod just won't function, but do any mods actually prevent you from playing together, needing to be disabled if you're going to play with vanilla friends?
Personally yes. Ror2 builds are an illusion that people still believe to be real when in reality the game is just proc chain city. Most item mods don't intentionally create bad items so you'll just inherently end up with more and longer proc chaining if you add more items to the pool.
Yes it runs completely counter to the fact that item stacking is a major feature of Ror2 as a rogue-lite in particular but it also doesn't matter as all having more items in the pool ultimately hurts is the ability to get more mobility like hopoo feathers and the like but that is legitimately the only noticeable downside to having more.
You can see this exact effect in vanilla as it is now that there's three DLCs as that's practically three big item mods in the past worth of stuff 'Bloating' the item pool but I'm sure anyone can notice that their runs are actually far more consistent/stronger than they were in the past.
Does anybody know any mods that make Ror2 smoother on weaker Hardware (that also work online), like boosting the fps and reducing lag and stuttering

theres not really any performance mods
av effect options is client side I think. much of the lag in the game is due to math so proc solver also helps, though it does change gameplay

I don’t know of any mods that straight up enhance performance, besides some that cut down on ally count
Just remember, google and thunderstore are free
MyFixedUpdate is really the only thing that makes much of a difference
StutterStunter and UnholyDLL are dead, and the loading screen ones are obsolete
AVEffectOptions and ItemDisplayRemover might help, but the main way to improve performance is just play vanilla.

Click "Manual Download" on Thunderstore.
Inside the downloaded .zip file. Run the "r2modman Setup X.X.X.exe" (where X.X.X is the current version).
Follow the steps in the installer.

The fix will come in 6 months that will cause more problems and then the fix for the last fix will come in another 6 months

from just loading in ss2 seems to not spawn the chest on conduit (no birthright objective .,.,,. loading in regular stages like pretenders and iron alluvium seem to work fine though so probably somethings to do with it being hidden in the dlc3 path. ,.,.,,.., edit actually nvm birthright does a check for the teleporter prefab and if it cant find it then stops it from spawning a chest ,.., since conduit has a cusom teleporter doesntwork despite there being case for in the code !!

Coming back to this game after multiple months - how is the mod compatibility with the new DLC? I had like 80 mods before (though this includes libraries, dependencies etc...). Do you think I will be mostly good? Or did some of you have to disable some mods due them not being compatible with the latest DLC?

going through the log i havent run across any error messages regarding birthright's chest, nor does nemmando get any items that could potentially cause problems. im somewhat thinking it may be what bread said and the chest potentially spawned in a vanilla node that is stuck underneath terrain somewhere, if it's not an incompatibility with wolfoQOL trying to do something, though i don't know what it would be

I believe i didn't like the item a lot, so i disabled it, then much pater realized having the yellow disabled means the boss will sometimes not drop an item at all, so i re enabled it, launched the game, and bsod happened 😭
The only design I've seen use the scaling timer in an actually threatening way is Sandswept's Hallowed Ichor. Time scaling just isn't anywhere near as big a deal as people like to treat it as.

Ohhhhh yeah I do like that, every marked guy you kill in a stage makes the next one stronger, punishing farming them. Might need to tinker with the timers so Relic of Termination doesn't become too tight of an indirect stage timer because of this, but yeah. Make the jump in strength pretty noticeable, too, so it stops being worth farming pretty quickly without a god run.

Scav trader is the only thing i’ve really had issues with, besides the ethereal sapling entirely replacing the newt altar spawning on certain stages
My personal issues with the storms and Ethereal difficulty all just boil down to their mechanical/stats effects all being balanced pretty rigidly around Typhoon, whereas I play almost exclusively on Inferno, so Stormborn enemies are completely out of control in my setup.

theres only two ways to beat them
1: cheese (takes 15 minutes)
2: instakill them before they instakill you (very unlikely unless you're post-loop)
neither of which are even remotely satisfying or fun
i get that their drops are very strong but if thats the reason for them being so overtuned it feels like a 10 year old balanced them then maybe they should both get nerfed
i dont care as much about that though since you dont really need to fight them once youve beaten them once

also i dont think chirr is very fun to play personally. i feel like she needs alt abilities

if nemmerc is actually not functioning correctly there will likely be a null reference exception or some other kind of error being thrown somewhere in the log. nemmerc is not bug-free, there has been a history of issues with his teleport sending you to the origin point of the map that orb has struggled to narrow down in the past

is it normal for me, when using the alt utility, to dash straight through an attack vector without it activating
is it normal when using the default secondary to overshoot a target and end up attacking the air behind them
i feel like if his playstyle is going to be this obtuse his damage output needs to be way way higher
if there are no enemies nearby, it will generate a random one somewhere nearby so you still have something to warp to if you want to for any given reason
cause this feels like having to pass a rocket science exam just to graduate high school

nemmerc is like one of my most used characters in my recent play sessions, so i can totally see some of these things happening while other things i do not see happening whatsoever just with ss2 by itself, or with other mods i use with it

if mods are conflicting with some character you dont care about, it can totally be also conflicting with something you absolutely do care about

i would have suggested wolfoQOL could have been the culprit if somehow primal birthright was softlocking a run, as i've personally run into issues with wolfoQOL getting an incompatibility with another mod, and subsequently softlocking interacting with things like the heat vents in solus wing

cause i cant just press a button to instantly teleport to the vectors

i would disagree, you trade a free teleport button with way more flexibility with movement and get to double dip multiple dashes out of a singular vector

eg use the slide to reposition, dash through an enemy into a vector to damage them, then dash backwards to hit them again with the vector

his alt secondary is a thrown knife, if it hits an enemy it will explode when you pick it up
though i also use the default m2

his shotgun does plenty of damage imo
default m2 with alt util gives a lot of flexibility in bouncing between flying enemies
only if youre in their face because its spread is horrible
and if youre in the air and shoot downward then the recoil makes you take more fall damage
as per usual its mainly blind pests that are pissing me off
then you could dash up with either util, shoot once (as that will often do more than plenty damage to oneshot early stage flying enemies), then m2 to reposition or kill the next target, and release mouse1 to shoot again on another target

no, that's by design
holding m1 to not fire feels horrible
with how fast the shotgun bursts it's to allow you to have control between firing once or twice while also intermixing other skills
it's not for everyone, but not every survivor is going to be for everyone
or i can control whether i want to fire once or twice by clicking either once or twice
it is simply how it was chosen to be designed
when you get used to it it's very comfy
using the shotgun less like an m1 autoattack and more like another skill in your rotation
there is nothing wrong with making a character more approachable and i doubt itd even be that hard
well you do not seem to be in any particular rush to post the suggestions you have in feedback, so im inclined to believe you're not planning on it

nemmerc is really one of those where it either clicks so hard or bwuh ,.,,.,,.,., find mostly alt kit really funs ,.,.,.,....,.,,..,
i think the best kits are either full default or full alt

i get what theyre trying to go for wit hit and being able to hit enemies with 4 hits of 1200% damage is crazy
but it feels so obtuse to use
its basically just blinding assault with extra steps and more damage 
also i failed to notice this earlier but the way it screws with your camera when it auto targets an enemy really does not sit well with me
love when i try to aim at a blind pest harrassing me but my camera forces itself downward to target a harmless beetle, so i quickly try to swipe my camera back upwards but then i undershoot and end up hitting nothing

the vector shows what enemy you will be pointed towards before you teleport to them, you can ignore the camera reorienting entirely by manually entering it or by teleporting to it with the alt util

Manually entering it isnt possible 90% of the time because they spawn in the air (without alt utility anyway)
and yes I know the alt utility ignores it but then the 2nd dash ends up getting wasted because of that
So when I want it to automatically target something it doesn't; and when I don't, it does.

nemmando has received quite the upgrade since i previously played the mod i see
he doesnt suck ass until you get a hopoo feather now

ive unlocked nemmandos alt abilities
doing a run using them
im thinking im gonna use his default secondary and alt special
alt secondary feels rather wimpy for what it does compared to his default 8 round pistol
maybe if it applied multiple stacks of gouge id be more interested in it
but its basically just a ranged version of his m1 slash with a 5s cooldown and about 2x the base damage
i guess the alt is better with backup mags but not every survivor needs to be good with backup mags

It's been so fucking funny watching the history of nemmandos secondaries. For the longest time there was no reason to use Gun m2 over Sword m2. There's just no winning when it comes to making them actually viable alternatives to each other without just overshadowing the other one lol

I literally just got a mod that ups phase rounds damage alittle and gives it mini zaps on stuff it passes by. Instantly made it a viable alt to the shotgun
Melee acrid is super fun but you get fucked over so hard without a hopoo feather I can't do it

Flamethrower is artificer most fun ability imo but I am forced to take ion surge if I don't plan to loop

My only idea would be to lean more into the sword m2 being burst damage whereas gun m2 serves as a second m1
Cause the sword m2 let's nemmando use bands which is nice
But it's only 400% damage
So maybe up the cooldown but crank up it's damage to like 800% and make it apply multiple stacks of gouge?
That way if you really hate small flying enemies or groups of ranged mobs in general you can use the gun to consistently deal with them but if you just want raw damage you can run the sword
Could also make the sword beam a chargeable ability like void fiends secondary
Funny you mention that. It's actually been a charged ability for a part of it's life
It went from instant to charged back to instant lol
HIFU's tweaks fix a lot of the unmodded survivors having objectively worse skills
And I forget which mod it is, but I have one that changes ion surge to be more like a glide with an explosion at the end

I like that it gives artificer basically 3 extra subclasses
I pretty much only play the ice subclass though because the fire one is broken op and the lightning one is super underwhelming

Is there an autosprint mod that works properly with Drifter? Her abilities cancel if she starts dashing, so RTAutoSprintEX is constantly canceling if I try to use an ability while moving.

dlc bodies have a component that does not allow you to play them if you do not have the correct entitlement
