I can help you with downpatching without using the downpatcher since it was also bugged for me.

here is a tutorial on how to manually downpatch, if you need help then feel free to ping me.

• open steam

• press windows key + R

• copy and paste "steam://nav/console" into the box

• in the steam console window that just opened, copy and paste "download_depot 632360 632361 9058106608706845920" and then wait for the game to download (the console will say when it finished downloading)

• in your steam library right click risk of rain 2 > go to manage > click browse local files

• move everything in the risk of rain 2 folder into another folder or delete everything in the folder

• copy and paste "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\content\app_632360\depot_632361" into the file explorer (may be something else if it's installed on a different drive)

• copy everything in that folder and paste it into the risk of rain 2 folder that you just moved everything out of

once you do all of this you can play the devotion update again and use mods.

(edit to include my other messages about mods when downpatching so I don't have to link multiple messages):

if you cannot find a mod anymore, it's deprecated, to find it in r2modman just click "filter categories" in the top right, and then in the bottom left click "show deprecated mods"

with mods that were updated to work in SotS, to get the old version of the mod in r2modman just click the mod, click the "website" button, in the thunderstore tab that just opened click the "versions" tab, and then click "install" on the latest version before 2024-8-27.

nope, I'm playing modded devotion update through the risk of rain 2 folder right now and steam isn't wanting me to update it.

if another update releases and you want to stay on the devotion update: just copy and paste everything in the risk of rain 2 folder somewhere else, update the game, remove everything from the risk of rain 2 folder, and paste the devotion update files back into the risk of rain 2 folder.

the way steam seems to work with updates is it just does 1 check for if you updated the game when an update releases, and then it doesn't check until another update releases.

I don't know if the mod manager displays their dates but you can just go to thunerstores website and the mods version tabs have teh dates there with install buttons that auto use the mod maanager

Only thing you need to be particularly careful of is if you're missing a dependency in the list then an older mod will still usually grab the latest of that missing mod

The simple way is just have both risk of rain 2 folders sitting next toeach other wherever you installed them and rename whichever one you actively want to play "Risk of Rain 2" and the other you don't to something else that can keep track off

keep the mod manager pointing towards normal risk of rain 2 then just rename the game folder of the one you want to play to risk of rain 2 with them both in the same steamapps folder
