For some general tips
I have a guide covering the general playstyle of Mercenary if it helps, but
Practice with Mercenary. The achievement is fairly skill-based, so the better you are with Merc, the easier it becomes to complete the trial.
Watch the trial closely. Try to find your own paths through. Cabbage is great for finding one path, but that's not the only way.
Topaz Brooch and barrier in general is your friend. Barrier doesn't count as getting hit, so Topaz Brooches can really save you. Shield does count as getting hit however

I’m waiting for an easier trial rn and I guess I’ll start practicing with merc. It’s the last achievement I have to 100% the game, new DLC included. Kinda frustrating having to wait 3 days per trial roll, especially since the new monsters feel especially punishing for melee characters. (Looking at you, wisp+ and banelings).

Wisps are less frustrating because of their lower health and they telegraph when they are about to attack more clearly. Wisps also die in one or two dashes. Pests have more than double the health and double the health scaling. Yes, you can run circles around them and not get hit but I’ll take 1-shot wisps instead of the avoidant pests. Easier fodder for the broach.

Yes, 100%, but we’re talking normal spawns here. They usually spawn in manageable clumps. Honor Pest stage would be fucking awful too. Twice as healthy and they intentionally keep distance.

Afaik just wisps on death, which is good for broach runs for the most part. They aren’t effected by artifact of honor, but the healing dude’s orbs do drop another wisp on death.

It's worth it, more so if you plan on using Merc a lot
For some general tips
I have a guide covering the general playstyle of Mercenary if it helps, but
Practice with Mercenary. The achievement is fairly skill-based, so the better you are with Merc, the easier it becomes to complete the trial.
Watch the trial closely. Try to find your own paths through. Cabbage is great for finding one path, but that's not the only way.
Topaz Brooch and barrier in general is your friend. Barrier doesn't count as getting hit, so Topaz Brooches can really save you. Shield does count as getting hit however

it will spawn a blazing imo overlord
use the tricorn and hit the portal
as long as you can do stage one consistently without getting hit then that’s how i did it

yeah, its a pain to wait but you have to, if you hit portal too early then it spawns a boss you can’t kill with the tricorn
