how hard was the boss skip? i've tried it a bunch in different trials and only got it to work once accidentally

when a vulture did it for me

I have a guide covering general playstyle of Mercenary if it helps, but the overall tips are
Practice with Mercenary. The achievement is fairly skill-based, so the better you are with Merc, the easier it becomes to complete the trial.
Watch the trial closely. Try to find your own paths through. Cabbage is great for finding one path, but that's not the only way.
Topaz Brooch and barrier in general is your friend. Barrier doesn't count as getting hit, so Topaz Brooches can really save you. Shield does count as getting hit however

best route seems to be to get crystal closest to spawn, not take any chests, get crystal next to tele and get the one on the very far side last
nearby there's a missile drone you can buy to distract the vultures, then kite and weave in and out of the cave as usual until tele's done

OSP is one shot protection, what makes Diablo not kill you above 90% life.

Place the Diablo on the left prong, then stand inside the center of the diablo, right next to the button. Take the full Diablo hit in order to hit the button faster.

yes this is frame perfect, although in this case captain has a consistent visual cue with the shotgun charge, so it's not too bad to go for

huntress can do the skip using ballista -- it's a little easier to time than most hitscan attacks since you can plink M1 on the first frame -> R on the next to have it active on two adjacent frames

I have a guide covering the general playstyle of Mercenary if it helps, but the overall tips are
Practice with Mercenary. The achievement is fairly skill-based, so the better you are with Merc, the easier it becomes to complete the trial.
Watch the trial closely. Try to find your own paths through. Cabbage is great for finding one path, but that's not the only way.
Topaz Brooch and barrier in general is your friend. Barrier doesn't count as getting hit, so Topaz Brooches can really save you. Shield does count as getting hit however

Also, in the case of the Cabbage part
Ignore that
Console trials are different from PC trials, so Cabbage's vids will rarely help with pathing

for whatever reason, most attacks just do not connect on the correct frame, with a few exceptions

While trying this trial, I've noticed that using merc's blinding assult dash into the fire wisps (along the path of the fire trail they leave behind) hurts me even though I'm still in the dash. I thought i'd be invincible during the full duration of the dash. am i noticing this wrong or is merc actually vulnerable to the fire wisps during the dash?

@cyan stratus If you look at the frame-by-frame, there is a frame where you see just a red dot. That is the boss skip frame, anything that hits enemies on this frame can do a boss skip. This does not kill the enemy, and cancels any further boss spawns. On the next frame where you can see the large boss healthbar (the one with the hit registered), anything that does enough damage in one hit kills the enemy and makes the boss item drop, but does not finish the event, as more already queued boss enemies spawn in.

For me, this trial is quite easy tbh (because of the free preon accumulator on the 2nd stage)

the only main problem is the first stage

For some general tips
I have a guide covering the general playstyle of Mercenary if it helps, but
Practice with Mercenary. The achievement is fairly skill-based, so the better you are with Merc, the easier it becomes to complete the trial.
Watch the trial closely. Try to find your own paths through. Cabbage is great for finding one path, but that's not the only way.
Topaz Brooch and barrier in general is your friend. Barrier doesn't count as getting hit, so Topaz Brooches can really save you. Shield does count as getting hit however
