What I did was grab the stun grenade and monster tooth by the first and third(?) crystal, printing them both into brooches
otherwise i actually just sprinted everywhere and saved my skills for when wisps would spawn, I found myself getting dinged if I was just using my skills off cd to get around. being caught on cooldown is pretty much gg
if you're not super fast, a huge horde of wisps will spawn right when you grab the preon, I'm not sure what influenced it but on my winning attempt it was instead two glacial wisps and two mushrums

Got it! my schmove was to do the battle shrine immediately to levelup, then bumrush the preon accumulator in the shrine on the other side of the map and the minimum amount of crystals on the way, then set the teleporter to loop and accumulate the boss there to death. Stone golems are in the next stage, with overloading titans as the boss. They're muuuch easier to dodge than wisps so i just stumbled around until that was finished

The tricky part is the boss fight immediately spawns like 5 elite wisps, you will need a good hiding spot

running a zig-zag away from them with your dodges usually works too
I'm not saying this as a general "git gud". I recognize that it's difficult and these are merely tips to cope with it

The current trial isn't terribly hard, if you try to copy the video it is, but with some small changes to the route it can be much easier.
Specifically, I opted to play cautiously, killing the two whisps that spawn by the first crystal, grabbing the chest by the first crystal, and rushing for the turtle printer after the 3rd crystal.

For anyone attempting Mercs Etherial challenge this prismatic is pretty legit
stage 1 you can go up from where you start in meadows, and there's a glowing meteorite, it basically guarantees instantly breaking all of the time crystals. also start very close to a drone behind you which helps too.

i think optimally you have 3x crowbars + 1x guillotine + 1 preon with 2 Gunner drones
and then you nuke the jellyfish with Preon, and then eviscerate -> 3x blinding assault -> Rising Thunder
the magic number is around 845 for execute, the preon should kill bring it down to 1k ish (tested with 2x crowbars)

I start with the closest crystal behind and to the right, and then get the crystal in the cave (this is to "manipulate spawn locations"), get rid of the wisp that spawns in the cave, double back across the map, get the gunner drone, get preon, run the long way because the centre is filled with mobs, get the 2nd gunner drone next to the TC, and then proc teleporter. after you do so, hang around the TP zone so the cows are aggro'd onto you, and then run like hell. You should pick up 2 crowbars and a Guilltoine, cant get a third white to drop
second stage: theres a lemurian that always spawns in the crystal in front, kill him and the wisp that spawns. then, go for the 2nd crystal by going to the right, then dash straight to TP. after the 3rd crystal near TP is down, aim Preon squarely at the fucker and blast away. then, eviscerate, blinding assault, etc until executed. after death, immediately dash away cos theres a lot of angry mobs on the ground. dont stand on top of vagrant
im sure theres a more optimal plan but im going for pure speed but yeah i know its doable
the reason i double back into the snow cave is cos this somehow forces the game to spawn lemurians near you, which means the path to the TP is totally clear

Stacked up 4 Brooches at first, nabbed a Ukulele, managed to get a Capacitor for the first boss, next stage a couple more Brooches, got maaaad lucky with a Dagger pickup, Guillotines, and badda boom, dodge and weave Overloading Vagrant for the ez dub since Daggers kept replenishing barrier

From what I can see in the video, he was breaking the crystals with just one ultimate and his M2, but that seems to leave a pretty good amount of health left on the crystals. Am I missing something with how merc's attacks work?

@frigid canopy Hello resident merc nerd here. Just watched, what he's doing is animation canceling his 3rd M1 hit with Eviscerate to extend the hitbox and expose the crystal first, then Evis immediately pops it and aerial whirlwind is enough to finish it off on the way out.
If you watch the video at 0.25 speed you can see the expose debuff getting popped by the first hit of evis

i just got it done - following @hearty shell above - key is to A. go fast B. on the 2nd stage make sure you strafe to the high wall on your left as you face the TP so the vagrant doesnt get stuck under the cliff

The key points are
- Pick up both drones (one's close to the Preon, the other one is behind the container by the TP, next to a TC280 you have to get later)
-Obviously also pick up the Preon - Fight along the Cliffside and lure the bisons into the water
- Enemies will fight themselves and your drones if you're all the way at the cliff, don't attack unprovoked apart from fishing bisons
- Fire your Preon OVER the enemies, it's important you don't kill your drones
- You want the fight to drag on so don't rush. You need the items and xp
- Buy the TC280 and go to next stage
- Dash into the boss 2nd stage, then chain dash up to the cliff, 4heb eviscerate and whirlwind so you're on top.
- Fire preon
- TC280 will win the rest of the fight, don't do anything more until all the shooting stops
- Congrats, you've mastered merc with your drone purchasing skills
