If you are ever going to do merc ethereal, now would be a great time. Crystals are easy to get to and pop, you can use equipment barrels to get capacitor which should pretty much oneshot the bosses due to the extra damage and there are very few enemies if you go a bit fast

Fyi, the spawns don't change but the spawn locations do. So depending on where you are at what time changes where the enemies spawn. Generally they spawn pretty close to you, so if you memorize the spawns and do the same route every time the spawns get extremely predictable

I'm not exactly sure how it works, but if use your missiles in the location the boss spawns, it removes the boss status from the um... boss.

I was doing a different strat on previous runs. I tried to kill the first beetle queen with missiles, but there were jellyfish in the way, so I had to move off the spot while shooting missiles to try to kill the jellyfish as well. I don't think anybody has discovered it yet.

Are you 100% sure its the missiles and not the leap?
As when you force a physical object in the way off a boss spawn it'll usually move the spawn (this is most notable with Loaders launchable grapple point)
That said, the boss does still spawn, just not with the boss tag

sometimes, the boss spawned dead for me, but that may have just been the missiles killing it afterwards

Something to note is that the boss never gets its boss tag
you can see the healthbar for a frame as it spawns, its yellow not red, and its not like the boss UI pops and disappears
my only guess is its relationship with the physical missiles spawning?
there's a few things we can note too: Timing of pressing Q doesn't matter too much, its not a frame-perfect activation on the spawn, the missiles are firing before the boss even spawns. Interestingly they completely ignored the boss (but that's not too uncommon)

i dont believe theres a way for us to be able to track the trials anyway, but if only they allowed us to scroll through the trials with that fake scrollbar on the side, or just let us view the top scores without having to complete a trial

you get get the first two crystals on stage 2 (and the 3rd one if you want to) without putting grapple on cooldown by being just far enough away that you hit it
i did try grinding some more for a good stage 2 but the 8% chance to insta kill the first boss was too annoying

its in his latest video above, I'm not sure on the speififics, if its pure luck based or has a speific interaction with time crystals and max grapple range

Weird, I keep running into the opposite from that reset glitch. An issue with loader where the grapple wont cling but it still creates the effects on the target surface and starts the cooldown (yes Im holding down the button)

FYI the prismatic trial on switch is perfect for ethereal - glass + alien head + head stompers in the first level bosses are usually either glacial vultures, blazing hermit crabs or overloading imps

I've had a bit of success with it, but I still haven't gotten Ethereal.
I drop off to the crystal farther from the container, break it with R, then break the one inside the container with the mobility skill. Then, I get to the Preon Accumulator.
At that point, it becomes a bit of a gamble with exactly where the Wisps spawn. Sometimes they spawn too far away to reach with the mobility skill from each other and you get shot in the air between attacks.
If you can make it across, grab the third crystal on the right side. You're then pretty much golden for the boss fight.
Stay on the steep slope facing the third crystal and it seems that few enemies spawn. If you shoot the ground near the foot of the slope with the PA, the bisons will fairly reliably all die.

Yep. The M2 ability on the ground at randomly guessed times is decent for dodging the beams on the ground. Otherwise, you either need to kill the lot of them or get away from them quickly.

I keep getting Clay Templars x3 on the second stage, and the one that spawns near the teleporter is Blazing. If I hit him with anything other than the R skill, he damages me.

If wisps is your biggest problem, you should probably learn to manage i-frame abilities
Spawns are consistant so you can also learn when they spawn
Save your dash and eviscerate for when wisps are about to appear, then use the abilities to ensure that they can't hit you

yup. biggesat thing.. dont rush. I started out trying to copy cabbage (he posted his run as well higher up) on his 1:40 minute run.. it was too fast. I slowed down and waited certain enemies out and eventually i got it

pt-s have only 2 stages and you are able to proceed after the tp boss is dead so don't have to bother with charging the tp
you need to destroy at least 3 of those time crystals before you can start the tp
well you need to do a pt to unlock 
you need to complete it as merc without taking dmg to unlock the alt for his 4th ability
other than that it's only to show off how fast you can do them
during pts item spawns are always the same so you can always optimize the runs

I ended up having to bite the bullet and sacrifice speed to charge my Preon
but all that matters is Ethereal is over
maybe in the future I'll try to get top 10%
