Honestly I agree with them that gd1 is not a good place for new players to go, or really on topic at all
but I think that disregarding the community within gd1, and also disregarding this aspect of the community at all is a really bad thing. I think turning a blind eye to, and "not bending" to any criticism towards these changes is a bad call since gd1 is a relatively large margin of people who use the server at all. The mods and suncles keep mentioning these other aspects of the community but it's not like the people who never talk are gonna really care one way or another, they should be making changes that satisfy what both sides want

(which is why just rebranding gd1 and putting it elsewhere is honestly the easiest and takes LITERALLY 2 minutes)
