I just picked up this game. It seems really hard though! I managed to make it to the "siren's call" but then I died really fast. I don't really know what I'm doing. Should I be running straight for the teleporter as soon as possible before the difficulty rises, or trying to get all the chests and stuff?
I like the huntress; it's cool not to have to stop moving to kill things. Commando's special attacks seem a bit weak and bandit is so hard to use right, I really don't understand how his stealth works and the short-ranged weapons are so risky!

The lock on has a pretty decent range, and you can use your shift to get out of the vagrant’s line of sight because the explosion won’t hurt you if you’re behind a wall
Arrow rain is also a cylinder so you can sometimes hit he vagrant if you place the arrow rain below them

I thought this too at first. Turns out it's because he has no run animation and a large model, so he looks slower than other characters, but his base movespeed is actually the same.
Re: Commando, I think he's designed to be easy to use. None of his abilities have any tricks to them. His M1 is accurate and has very high projectile speed so it can hit things from a long way away, the rate of fire is pretty good so he doesn't tend to overkill things like MUL-T's rebar punch, and it procs things pretty fast. His basic M2 shoots through terrain, which is great for beginners. His utility is a completely no-frills dodgeroll. Suppressive fire is kind of mediocre but it's also completely point-and-click.
