yes, a lot of people do. No fix as of yet, just "works on my machine" responses thus far.
Anyone experiencing the "crashes after X amount of time" should likely take a gander at their GPU statistics while the game is running. It could be overheating and crashing as a result.
As for myself, running off of an rx 570 8gb, the game jams itself straight into maxing out my GPU despite significant performance drops. This is only since the most recent update.

Hi all, I just installed risk of rain 2 on my pc (running on AMD HD 5800 GPU) and my game keeps on freezing around a 20-35 minutes mark. I disabled full-screen and V-sync and checked my GPU drivers. Is there anything else I could try?
I really enjoy this game and find it unfortunate to have to restart as soon as I start to have a good build!

updating the game without updating your mods usually causes problems

my problem was that characters didn't load in lobbies and ready button could not be clicked
you could try this and check if it helps: ```Resetting your DNS server. There are 3 recommended methods and we suggest trying all 3:

- Wait at least 10 seconds after all lights on the router have gone out.
- Reconnect the power cord to the router.

Hi, I've bought the game recently and it refuses to start up. I've tried the reinstall with both firewall and antivirus off. My nvidia drivers are up to date. My PC meets the requirements. I have Windows 7 installed. My antivirus is MSE.

I just installed the game on a fresh install of Win 7, and the C++ 2015 redistributable wouldn't properly install without Service Pack 1. Installed SP1, and the redistributable installed, and then the game worked.

I have had a few profiles been corrupted and I've verified the integrity of the games files but it has not changed anything. I don't know what to do to regain those profiles and I had all of Artificer's abilities unlocked 😭

@final vessel I don't think it's steam. My friends and I have the same issue. It was happening last week for us as well. No matter who the host is, hosts screen goes black and the other players get a "server shut down" notification. Steam works a-okay.

Heya! Been recently getting occasional 1sec stuttering spikes with RoR2 with no apparent reason whatsoever. Checked game intergrity, even reinstalled yet still getting stuttering. Anything else i could do?
Running with GTX 1080 & i5-6600K with 16 gigs of RAM on a 144hz 1080p monitor. Haven't experienced this before.
EDIT: the game is on a M.2 drive too. Also not running any mods.

It seems like others are suffering from similar stuttering issues according to Steam forums
GPU load is 40% during gameplay and drops to 20% each time i get a stutter spike. GPU RAM usage is a steady 1,4GB. CPU load is a steady 46%, RAM usage a steady 5GB. GPU drivers are the latest ones. Every other game runs just fine without any stuttering, but only is present in RoR2. Seems pretty weird.

@eager current yes I tried reinstalling game, the directX, the pastebin files, restart pc and steam, everything. Including reinstalling steam. Because before this I installed steam outside of “Program Files (x86)” so I tried install steam in this file and wonder if it works but still the same. The thing is when I use my brother’s laptop to install RoR2, his laptop can play instantly. So I will take my CPU and give it a update to Win10 + PC Format today and we will see how it works this time. I’ll let u guys know if installing/reinstalling window works..

So I have an issue where Risk of Rain 2 only responds to d pad for movement and not my left controller zstick. i can't find a way to fix it. This makes moving aand sprinting very hard. The controls changed in mid match and never went back. I also uninstalled the game and still have the problem.

Yeah, I've tried it multiple times, it works fine when I use it through Chrome, and sadly the Steam Browser doesn't allow me to unmute myself. This issue has only happened in this server and on the Discord app. This has never happened before on any other server or any other occasion.
It's likely not my mic since I can hear myself with Discord's playback test. The admins said it's not a server mute, so that's also not the problem here. I can't recall any time I was heard in this server before, and since I've been here for a few months, this is probably not a recent issue. I'm out of clues on what the problem could be... Does anyone have any?

A while back me and my friends spawned into the abandoned aquaduct near the door. For me the door wasn’t there, for them it was. I could walk through it while they couldn’t. Seeing a consistent multiplayer issue when using steam link and hosting a game.
Players will suddenly get a disconnected message, the host screen will turn black and then return to the main menu. This only occurs while the host is using steam link to play and hosting directly from the device there are no issues.

@lavish zenith First, try unplugging and then replugging your controller. If that does not fix it, look under Device manager and make sure there are no other controllers. If you have VJOY installed, please uninstall it!

@lavish zenith In your case it's not about input latency but about a different controller (it can also be a virtual one) that gets mistaken by the game for the main one. The fix is still the same. However, you do you, and I do play some more RoR2 while being dumbfounded at such resistance to good will and help (you're not alone).
#ror2-tech-support I must say I only come here anymore to see how narrow-minded and outright unreasonable (running RoR2 on their toaster) the people seeking technical assistance are, contraproductive to what they came here for in the first place.

unfortunately, don't know much more than that, you can try editing the xml file to change the save file to how it looked for you last time you played if you feel confident
won't damage any of your files or corrupt the game, it just might be time consuming if you don't know what you are doing
if you don't want to start all over again, there's a steam guide that tells you how to cheat all unlocks, might try checking it out

yes, but only if the mods don't actually change core game mechanics/add items or enemies that aren't in the game.
visual mods like custom HUDs and texture packs should work fine, just other people wouldn't be able to see it.

well on its own i think most mods will make it so people can't join you. i don't have many recommendations since i don't really mod this game specifically but from my experience things that change things already in the game rather than add them will work just fine. Things like shared items, the mod that enables 4 player difficulty no matter how many people are in your game, and some of the cheat menus should work perfectly.

And make sure your monitor refresh rate is set to 60 in settings, not 48

Try to change the 60 or whatever number is there to a higher number such as 120, BUT, make sure the game is closed/not running first

BUT, I would not recommend going above 60

open the NVIDIA Control Panel and head to 3D Settings > Manage 3D Settings. Click the “Program Settings” tab and select the game you want to configure. Locate the “Vertical Sync” Setting and set it to “Off”. Click “Apply”

it might just be that your graphics card can't handle higher frame rates. that graphics card is only slightly better than the integrated graphics but can reduce stress to your cpu

it probably wouldn't help you since your CPU is pretty good. i assume you are running the graphics etc through your gpu, not cpu, so i don't really think you would fine much benefit in that

it should say hit (blank) for viewing what's set and hit (blank) for setup, hit the one that's setup

when the american megatrends logo flashes on screen, it should say what key it is to enter setup. you need to try to look at what that key is and hit it the next time you reboot the computer(unless you manage to get it first try)

Anyone know how to scale the steam overlay/resolution? When a friend launches a game on steam it takes up a third of the game screen. Currently only happening with risk of rain 2 as far as I'm aware

compare your pc specs to game requirements, then check if your drivers are up to date, then make sure that you didn't miss any performance dropping settings in game

Hey there! Never had to come here before, but it's been a few days (since last update?) that my game starts and runs at 10fps. I've never had any drop with it before even when things get hectic. Other games I own seems to run just fine, any ideas? 😮 (i5-6600, 8go RAM, GTX 1070)

If anyone has had the same problem i have been having where the game is suddenly running on 10ish frames after the update regardless of high or low settings, i fixed this issue by going into the Nvidia control panel, going into manage 3D settings, then clicking on manage power settings, and switching it from optimal to Prefer high performance. I dont know why Risk of Rain is bottlenecking compared to how i could run more graphically intensive games like witcher 3 with no dip below 60FPS, but this has fixed my problem and the game has gone back to well over 120FPS.

when i boot the game up everything in the menu says TITLE_[whatever option] all in caps with _ instead of spaces. If i try to click on single player it just goes to a blank screen of the menu background, and if i go to multiplayer i get the same bugged menu and nothing i press works.

hey, something weird is going on with my game. I can't join my friends or random people from clipboard lobby, i can't do quickplay, and no one can join me. I have already tried restarting the game, restarting steam, turning off my fire wall, and re installing the game, but nothing seems to work. This doesn't happen on any of my other games so i thought i would come here. I have tried fixing it for a day or two by myself, but nothing seems to work, so i have come here to see if anyone can help me. We had the black screen disconnect happen again last night.
No issues with hardware on either end and absolutely no issues with latency or packet loss.
(Confirmed via MTR/Pingplotter and the mumble server's user stats)
Average 60ms latency, < 0.01% packet loss, <20ms jitter.
I think it's safe to say the issue is 100% not related to the connection/networking on our end.

Forgive me if this isn't the right place to send this. I've been having this issue where my computer crashes and give me a blue screen with "whea uncorrectable error" when i play the game. I've done everything i can find on the internet to fix this. Updating drivers, disabling firewalls, running in compatibility mode, so on. I emailed and was told to come here and post the output log file and crash file. there are no crash files, but i have the output log if you want me to post it in here. Otherwise I'm not sure how to fix this problem. Crashes in both single and multiplayer.

hey, still getting bad frames in ror2 specifically despite reduced graphics settings, moving to ssd and resetting nvidia stuff to default. running gtx 1080 and 8th gen i7, used to run beyond full frames but now runs sub 60 on an empty map
disabling vsync in nvidia control panel didn't help either -- still get 40ish frames on the main menu.

Is anyone having trouble with private multiplayer lobbies? The multiplayer screen has no UI for adding people to the lobby, and players accepting invites once you're in a private lobby get a black screen after they accept, or nothing happens

hey gang. so recap: been getting extremely bad frames last 2 weeks, 40fps on empty map, 15 or less by round 3. gtx 1080 and 8th gen i7. game used to run beautifully. have done classic things such as move to ssd, reinstall, change nvidia settings, turn off vsync, all common stuff. nothing worked. then yesterday i turned on my computer fresh from a windows update, benchmarked with destiny 2 to see if i got frames in that (80 avg on max settings), then opened ror2. it ran beautifully. however, after restarting my computer twice, it's BACK to running like shit now 😦 anyone have any ideas how to fix?

My risk of rain 2 ran perfectly fine yesterday. Today, when I opened it up as soon as the title screen was visible my frames dropped from 345~ to 17. For reference, I usually run Risk of Rain 2 around 100-200 FPS. When I go to select single player and enter character select, my frames slightly increase, and increase slightly again when I go in game, or stay the same. Any help is accepted, the image below is what my computer has, driver is fully up to date as well.
