I found a solution to the uncklickable continue button:
- Dissable steam cloud
- Go to Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata"yourID"\632360
3 Go to the .xml on the bottom of the folder remote - Copy the one i will provide in there an change it name to match the one your .xml file has
- Delet your .xml file and keep the new one

Will be taking another look at that today - is highest priority right now. We know it has to do with corrupted save files from the game suddenly shutting down during a save - we just don't know how to get rid of that file yet. Deleting the local copies don't seem to be doing the trick.

IIRC ping is also dependent on the host. However, ping like you shared is caused by your network and not the game specifically @timid cypress

I'm still having ridiculous delays trying to start up Risk of Rain 2, which also applies to closing it out, as well as opening up and closing the Steam API (for inviting friends). Despite restarting my computer, changing my graphics settings to be the barebones minimum, attempting to run as administrator and even trying compatibility mode, I'm getting absolutely no luck in figuring out why this game causes my computer to freeze, stutter and lock up for well over a minute just trying to open it, close it or invite friends to my game/instance. I've reinstalled Risk of Rain 2 as well, I've verified my game's cache/contents multiple times, and yet absolutely nothing is working towards fixing this.

We've generally narrowed down the issue to your Save data being corrupted. This may be caused because you shut the game down abruptly or another issue occured. Please note that this will wipe your save file contents. If you want, back it up elsewhere.
- First, make sure Risk of Rain 2 is closed.
- Restart Steam.
- Next, locate the folder that your userprofiles are saved in. This is typically in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\(ACCOUNTNUMBER)\632360\remote\UserProfiles" - There should be an xml file in there with a bunch of random characters, i.e
2919dc8a-fd4c-4c3c-bd7d-8aeeac67b831.xml. Open the .xml file in Notepad. - Go to https://pastebin.com/BQkjgRrK and copy the contents of the Pastebin INTO the .xml file, REPLACING ALL THE EXISTING CONTENT. Press Save.
- Reopen the game in Steam.
Please let me know if this works - we will be patching the game in the future to work around this, but for now this should at least let you enjoy the game.

if you haven't already, check Windows Firewall settings on both ends to be sure. For some people a reboot has solved the issue oddly enough.

FIX
We've generally narrowed down the issue to your Save data being corrupted. This may be caused because you shut the game down abruptly or another issue occurred. Please note that this will wipe your save file contents. If you want, back it up elsewhere.
First, make sure Risk of Rain 2 is closed.
Restart Steam.
Next, locate the folder that your userprofiles are saved in. This is typically in
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata(ACCOUNTNUMBER)\632360\remote\UserProfiles
There should be an xml file in there with a bunch of random characters, i.e
2919dc8a-fd4c-4c3c-bd7d-8aeeac67b831.xml
Open the .xml file in Notepad. Go to https://pastebin.com/BQkjgRrK and copy the contents of the Pastebin INTO the .xml file, REPLACING ALL THE EXISTING CONTENT. Press Save.
Reopen the game in Steam.
Please let me know if this works - we will be patching the game in the future to work around this, but for now this should at least let you enjoy the game.

So, i've got an issue. It seems that whenever I play with others it starts just fine but after maybe 30 seconds of gameplay I start getting a huge disconnect with whats going on. Not anything unusual. We play tons of things together and this is with multiple people in different areas. All the same problem and only with this game.
They can play together just fine and I am in voice comms with them with no issue there. I've tried doing things with my Firewall, restarting my computer, waiting a day to see if it is my net, testing other games to make sure.
Verified game integrity, and reinstalled.
Hence why I am lost, I haven't seen a post with a similar issue.

I'm not sure with that one, I had 1 instance of a lag spike but it was only because someone else was downloading on my connection and it recorrceted itself afterwards.

It sounds stupid but the most simplest fix for most issues fixes it. Multiplayer broke for me, after validating all my files were there(if you haven't done that yet do that about 3 times to be sure all the files are there) and I restarted my pc, along with my friend and it fixed it

Hello, I seem to have a bit of an issue using a PS4 controller. Game doesn't recognize L3 and R3 correctly, and I can only ping using them. If I try using, say, DS4 Windows to emulate it as an Xbox 360 controller, the inputs for the PS4 controller still count because of Steam, and I end up both sprinting and pinging at the same time. This happens sometimes, but not always. Sometimes it lets me do things perfectly fine.
It's... very weird.

PS4 controllers are weird on Windows, since you're using the controller to play I won't tell you to remove vJoy controllers from your Device Manager (under the Human Interface Devices section) but it's possible that has something to do with it

@slender notch did you validate your files? Alternatively if you're honest you can just edit the file it's just a bunch of 0's and 1's

@orchid shore No but I saw some convo a bit later on from a guy with, iirc, the exact same config as me under linux mint tara and a gtx 1080 saying that his game worked perfectly when he updated his gpu driver to the nvidia one version 42-something, though i couldnt try that myself so Im stuck on 390, but yea all i can recommend is making sure youre on the most recent nvidia driver

@slow pier port forwarding shouldn't be needed at all. Some people have had success after verifying game files and/or rebooting

PS4 controller issue: setting in steam client controller as playstation controller seams to kind of resolve issue, R3 and L3 buttons can be bound but the controller settings are showing now XBOX icons (A instead of [ ] )

anyone have any idea on why the game thinks i have a controller plugged in? had scptoolkit for ps3 controller support which I've uninstalled all traces of, but in game all my bindings are "unknown" because the controller bindings are all blank, and in game my camera is infinitely holding downwards as if i was holding the analog stick down... only temporary fix I've found is turning down the controller sens and x and y axis scaling on controller to have the smallest amount of my screen always moving downards

Make sure you backup your game XML before editing first. That error is describing an encoding issue by the looks of it. Your editor might have saved the file in a different encoding than it opened it with.
