Most fun way to play mage is to just have infinite mana ngl.
Theres one mod that adds an accessory you can craft that gives unlimited mana. Can make it after you defeat the goblins. It then reduces your damage by 20%
Then as you progress, you can upgrade it to have less and less of a debuff over time

I like that one. It feels very balanced

By the time you get to Womb the run has, in a way, kinda already finished since treasure rooms and shops are no longer present

So there’s not much to look around for on the floor aside from rushing to your boss room and hoping you don’t get maimed by the full heart damage

And by then too you’re already pretty strong, so there may not be as much of a desire or need to optimize/minmax your resources and plays - but because it technically makes you stronger and the potential is there you’ll do it anyways

Even if it’s exceptionally sluggish and not even remotely fun

Because manifesting 6 items in a singular room is very flashy and cool looking, and the potential for one of those items to be a really combo-oriented one that makes the 45 extra minutes you’ve spent worth it

Plus Late-game floors are much larger, so running between rooms takes longer as well

And I think it’s also worth mentioning that at the start of runs it’s like

Well the run just started, I JUST sat down and started playing VS at the end of a run it’s already been going on for over an hour, I just want it to end already

Late-game rigging will likely always have been preceded by early-game rigging (which can take forever), and when it isn’t, you’ll still have been playing for a really long time

Beating Womb 2 under half an hour is considered “Very Fast”

And there’s still a couple floors after that

heavy is so easy if you have good gamesense and try to stay revved whenever you know there are probably enemies nearby
